  With 18 virtual machines, it will be 72 GB of RAM, and if you have only 48 physical RAM in the host it will be little tight. There is a lot of memory reappropriation of the techniques used by the Vmkernel, but this might be a little too much.

  I agree with Weinstein that you should start with a lower amount of vRAM for each virtual computer and increase if necessary.

  Yes the vmotion and svmotion works but one by one.

  1 - vmotion is posssible to power on State, but you can't svmotion the vm simultaneously. The storage will remain same

  2 svmotion is also possible to power on the State, but you cannot vmotion virtual machine simultaneously. the host will remain the same.

  3 vmotion and svmotion is possible together when the vm is off power. the host and storage can be changed simultaneously on this State.

  No doubt put all disks in a single set to improve the performance of RAID. Once loaded, ESXi runs in memory and writes that the logs and configuration data. The disk space required for ESXi - including a 4 GB partition scratch - is ~ 5 GB. In ESXi 5.x versions, it was a good idea to place ESXi on a separate drive in order to reinstall the system, but with v5.x ESXi reformat the complete installation disk more.

  Even if you want to keep separate data from the OS, you can always create a RAID unit with all disks and - using the RAID controller - create the logical volumes on this RAID (for example 10GB for ESXi) set.

• What is the best way to get a customized version # from an ESXi host?

  Each quarter, we generate a sequence of updates (including patches and security scripts) which are performed manually on our 5.0 ESXi hosts. I don't have an internet connection and so I have to do it this way.  I would like to be able to identify the last quarterly update that has been run on the vCenter servers and/or Client VI.

  Right now, I think adding the quarter, example 1 Q 13 on the DCUI message, then help PowerCLI, vCenter to retrieve the message DCUI, crawled and paste the quarter in the field host Annotations on vCenter.

  Kind of ugly, but I cannot find a cool way to get data like this outside of the host.  I don't want to rely on my user manually set to nothing, for example the field of Annotations on vCenter that is also subject to errors.

  I really want something that can also be seen on the VI Client, too, as the annotations are only on vCenter.

  I have ideas about the best approach to tackle this problem.

  Not sure if this is the best way, but that's what I ended up doing.   It feels like there should be a better way.

  I've updated my quarterly script to add the version number at the bottom of the file, / etc/vmware/welcome, whenever it is run on an ESXi host (e.g. myScript version: v1.0 Date: 04June2013).  This file appears under the banner DCUI.

  Then, I wrote a script powerCLI to roughly the following:

  Yes you can - is one of the methods of the console. To access the console use the mode "not supported".

  ESX full fat has a larger footprint, so uses slightly more resources. and is a little less secure.

  ESXi offers all the features of full fat ESX. . Some argue that there is a difference due to the removal of the service console, but if you wish, you can enable SSH on ESXi (VMware technicians regularly use this SSH on our machines. .even if it's "officially not supported")

  To put your mind at ease, I use exclusively ESXi - I recently attended the beta version for the vSphere fast track and we never used the SC once in a week! It was from 08:00 to 19:00 days and highly concentrated laboratory.

  To be honest, I think that VMware on ly kept the SC for people who are unfamiliar with ESXi and adverse to change.

• ESXi Server very slow

  I am managing an ESXi v3.5 and it is slower than molasses!

  All VM is running very well, as there is no problem, but connection and try to manage the host ESXi expires more often it connects.  Under performance - & gt; system is an alert under "criticism for unspecified Int 1 - Bus say unrecoverable error."  And someone in front of me seems to have been managing this host with a Virtual Center Server and he thinks he always handled.

  Good to know. Look, this isn't official or anything, but I have seen sfcbd significantly reducing the performance of the E.C. on ESXi. You need to upgrade to the latest version of ESX (U4) so I think that you will get rid of this.

  Services can be kept low without problem. The only thing you lose is a kind of material maintenance for the 3rd party software.

  I tried to find and implement several solutions found on these forums for the 1st problem listed above. I tried to go into folder options and disable double click open files option and I tried to replace with original system files according to the http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-files/folders-open-in-new-window-despite-folder-option/5fba3897-7655-4068-8992-2d8b20063b3f and nothing has worked. I tried to run the command prompt in administrator mode to scan files using the command "sfc/scannow" and even that did not work, as when checking for 59%, it says "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation"
  I tried to create new administrator user accounts and the problem persists.
  I am also unable to delete some files. Internet Explorer would be my best and later example. I ran microsoft update, it installed IE10, and I was unable to start IE. I have not found in the list of uninstaller, so I tried to delete the files manually but Icould do not, that I needed approval from "TrustedInstaller". I played a bit with permissions and gave myself all permissions, with the exception of special permissions (which was grey), and then he said I needed the permission of 'Administrators' when I tried to delete the folder.
