ESXi Server very slow

I am managing an ESXi v3.5 and it is slower than molasses!

All VM is running very well, as there is no problem, but connection and try to manage the host ESXi expires more often it connects.  Under performance - & gt; system is an alert under "criticism for unspecified Int 1 - Bus say unrecoverable error."  And someone in front of me seems to have been managing this host with a Virtual Center Server and he thinks he always handled.

So, a few questions:

(1) what is the error system supposed to tell me?

(2) a reboot will cut the ghost Virtual Center Server?

(3) any ideas on slow?  A reboot that will correct perhaps?

b

Good to know. Look, this isn't official or anything, but I have seen sfcbd significantly reducing the performance of the E.C. on ESXi. You need to upgrade to the latest version of ESX (U4) so I think that you will get rid of this.

Services can be kept low without problem. The only thing you lose is a kind of material maintenance for the 3rd party software.

If you can, check this discussion as resolved so I can try to win a prettier icon

  • In ESXi 5 very slow network performance

We have recently updated one of our servers to ESXi 4.1 to 5. It's a Dell PowerEdge T300 with 24 GB of RAM. It used to run very fast, but after the network upgrade is very slow. We have another server that is still running ESXi 4.1 which runs very fast.

I noticed the slowness of the network in Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 systems. When I copy a file from the ESXi 5 hosted VM to a physical machine on our network, I get between 2 to 4 Mbps. When I copy the ESXi 4.1 hosted VMS on the same physical machine, I get 80Mbps.

I tried to disable TCP unloading on the physical machine and virtual (and both) computers with no improvement.

I also performed a capture of the WireShark packages on one of the virtual machines Win 7. I noticed one interesting thing is that there was a lot of duplicate ACK packets when you transfer a file on SMB. I didn't know where to go to from there.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Check the BIOS of the server ESXI 5 and see if this physical NETWORK card sharing resource IRQ with another device and change it if it is.

  • Windows Server 2012 slow on ESXi 5.1U1

    Dear jury,

recently, I installed four Windows Server 2012-VMs on my ESXi. It's a HP DL380G7 (Controller-P410i HP Xeon E5645, 144 GB of RAM, with 8 HP - SAS 500 GB in RAID6).

All four virtual machines have a very poor performance, SMB video speed, slow slow.

I have a server 2008R2-Windows on the same host, which are very good. If I copy a file (for example an ISO) of my client to the server, I have about 80 MB/s. If I do the same in one of my 2012 server, I get about 20 MB/s or less. Sometimes the process cancels (destination network not found)... Still the same thing if I copy between virtual machines. When the copy of CPU consumption amounts to 70%, sometimes at 100%, the server is not usable this time.

    What I've done and tested:

    * 2012 Server installed by the standard ISO (MS Action Pack-download)

    * fact update ESXi 5.1 to 5.1U1 and updated on all virtual machines VMWare tools

    * change to VMXNET3 E1000E network card

    * disabled SMB signing

    * changed SVGA drivers for MS-display Standard driver (3D acceleration is grayed out in the VM options!)

    * Settings IP of all virtual machines are ok (DHCP)

All the 2008R2 works well, all 2012 are very slow...

What can I check or what I got wrong?

TIA and greetings from the Germany

    Matthias.

    It's weird,

As I did the day 1 for my ESXi5.1 update I upated the VMWare tools on all virtual machines as well. Every server 2008R2 did a restart and they are always very good. 2012 servers did not reboot after update the VMWare Tools. Today, I did a restart of all my servers from 2012 and voila, 3 out of 4 are very good. Running quite smooth with 80 to 100 Mbps SMB-Performance! GREAT!

Just a virtual machine is too slow I started... But this one I will get in shape too, I think that...

Display 3D even drivers are fine now.

    Best regards

    Matthias.

  • Server vertual very slow vs 2005

I use a vista and you use VM via MS vertual 2005 server, four VM can run without problem (sometimes slow and some very slow time).

Then I have a clean install of esxi on my machine and runing my vista (p v) through VM, server2003 plus two are running.

However, they are slow increditable. Need more than 3 minutes at the start of vista.

I don't see no adnormal through the performance table in esxi and VM

ESXi is not suitable for a client computer, or it is need a machine of class server (HP dx7400, E8300, 4 G of Ram, SATA 7200 K 460 G)

    Thank you very much

To confirm that you are running:

    • 2 vCPU, 1 GB of RAM, Vista

    • 2 x Win2k3, 2 vCPU, 512 MB of RAM?

I would like to ask if these VMs really need 2 vCPU each? The usual recommendation is to assign only 1 vCPU unless they really need more.

ESXi must plan 2 physical processors to begin to provide time CPU for each of your guests. but given that your processor has two physical processor cores means that there is actually no competition at all. I could change all the VMS to 1 vCPU and see how it works.

  • Terminal Server RDP is very slow!

    Hello!

I have a small network with a domain controller Active Directory (Windows 2003) - including the Exchange, I had a Windows 2003 Terminal Server initially, but have replaced the Windows 2003 Terminal Server with a Terminal Windows 2008 Enterprise Server (not R2). Windows 2008 is a completely new system, not an upgrade.

The problem is that the new Terminal Server ('08) is running very very slow one time the old 2003 Terminal Server is not present on the network. Although I use is no longer the old server, he seems to have an impact on the performance of the network.

For example, if I should shut down the old server, the new server becomes very slow. It takes about 5 + minutes to services/applications load after you try to connect to the server using RDP. You get a white screen for a long time before the icons are loaded and everything works really slow, including Outlook. On the contrary, once the old server is started in Windows, the new server works very well.

All servers are physical boxes and I'm not going to finally get rid of the old Terminal Windows 2003 server.

When you configure the 2008 Terminal Server, I did transfer the IP address of the Terminal Server, the Terminal Server 2008 Server, 2003 server and give the old server a new IP address. I don't know if it has something to do with the behavior, but the old server is not used. It is initialized only to try to keep the stable network.

    Hi LucD,

    I've found a workaround:

When I run the import-PSSnapin I noticed (with wireshark) a lot of traffic failed to WAN addresses, so I set myself, in Internet Options a false proxy (127.0.0.1), excluding the proxy DNS of my domain active directory name (so I can connect to the virtual center without going through the wrong proxy)

Now is the time of execution:

    Can anyone guide on this

    Thanks in advance

  • ESXi 5.0 slow to start nested comments

    Hello

I have VMWare Server 2.0.0.2712 Windows 7 Home Premium.

Created two ESXi 5.0.0 server hosts to test vCenter Server 5 etc.

However, the two guests are very slow at startup (more than 20 minutes) and hang on vmkibft and vmfs3 loaded successfully and subsequently.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you very much

    IR88

An idea - Workstation8 / Joueur4 have been designed for this much better than the server use, which seems to have been abandoned.

Second idea - what resources your host has?  ESX takes a lot of resources to operate, in particular as a virtual machine.  And hypervisors nesting is always a very delicate scenario - takes certainly much more computing power.

  • vSphere Home Lab: very slow network speed, I'm desperate

    Hello

After many trials that I have finally found the right hardware build my vsphere home laboratory.

    This is my setup:

    ESXi1

    ASUS P6T Deluxe V2

    I7 920

    24 GB OF DDR3 MEMORY

2 x Intel Pro 1000 GT Desktop Ethernet adapter

    2 ESXi

    i5-2500

    16 GB OF DDR3 MEMORY

1 x Intel Pro 1000 GT EthernetDesktop adapter

    NAS

    ASUS P7H55-M

    Intel Core i3-540

Windows Server 2008 R2 with Starwind iSCSI

    Realtek Gigabit Ethernet

I have a Netgear GS108 where I plugged all the ethernet cables over my ADSL Modem, a Linksys WAG320N

Everything is OK apart I have a speed very very slow in the network; for example ISO 2k8r2 server transfer I take 30 minutes

After many trials, I decided to start from scratch, I just powered on my ESXi2 machine and reinstalled ESXi 4.1U1 from scratch and I installed the Client vSphere for my Client PC which have a Gigabit Ethernet card and is also attached to the switch Gigabit however, speed is still the same, 2/3 MB / s.

The strange thing is that also the same speed very slow, I created a Server 2008 VM and installed iperf to landmark of network and I get about 600 / 700 Mbps, so I really don't know what I can do.

I replaced the ethernet cables, also tried to connect the cables directly to the modem and also I tried with another switch, but the result is always the same.

He is now a cable or switch problem because I tried to create an iSCSI drive and transferred a file of 10 GB of my Client PC to the iSCSI disk and I get about 120 MB/sec so is full Gigabit network speed.

Also, I installed FileZilla FTP Server on the ISCSI server and tried to download and upload a file of 10 GB and the speed is never 115 / 120 MB/s.

Really, I don't know what I do that, I'm really desperate.

Thank you very much for your help.

Routers are NOT created equal.  There is a business reason switches cost $10,000 - $20,0000 dollars.

Netgear router / switch is just a very BASIC.  It's not classy company.  That's your problem.  Get a better switch that you don't need to spend $10,000 but probably a few hundred... a GOOD show for home switch...

  • Backups Time Machine very slow on 2015 MacBook Air

Associated with a topic of discussion between a few days ago (two MacBooks, 10.11.4, a fast Time Machine backup and a very slow), I start a new topic with new information that seem to show it is a problem more general and not related to Time Machine networks.

    Here's the situation:

    • A 2015 MacBook Air, 10.11.4, 8 GB / 512 GB, has extremely slow performance of backup Time Machine, taking 40 hours for the first 300 GB backup and incremental backups for a long time as well
    • TM performance is essentially the same whether on the network (wired Ethernet) or a USB3 external disk
    • When you back up to disk USB3, I confirmed that the information system shows that the port is configured as USB3, not USB2 (nothing else is plugged into the USB port)
    • Tests of bandwidth I/O gross (using dd and iperf) show no problem; the network reached 110 MB/s bandwidth, written network managed at 50 Mbps, external USB3 HD written work at 40-50 MB/s (write hard drive speed limit)
    • 3 other Macs of various ages from 2009-2014 on the same network have no problem at all do backups Time Machine Network; a backup complete first on a 2011 MacBook Pro 500 GB takes 5 hours or more than 10 x faster than the MBA problem
    • Time machine network uses a Linux server running the latest Debian and Netatalk 3.1.8 and the connection is via a USB3/Gigabit adapter, no WiFi, and iperf tests with this arrangement shows 900 MB/s of throughput of the server.  In all cases, the Time Machine and external time Machine Network USB HD have the same symptoms.
    • The problem with MacBook Air is configured the same as the MacBook Pro 2011, which she replaced "daily driver", possible
    • This problem was shown by the MBA since his unboxing conversion, taking 20 hours for his first backup once Setup initially.  Incremental backups now take several hours, leading to interrupted incremental backups and, I believe, databases corrupted backup triggers new full backups that take today the 40 hours.

Using Terminal Server and iostat, Console, etc, I see that there is significant activity e/s for the backup drive on the order of 20 to 40 MB/s for long periods on the MBA during the TM backup, but during that time the average declared backup size as shown in the window in the console and TM is growing by only 5 GB/hour.  This occur even if the backup will the external drive or a network drive. This seems to mean that the I/O bandwidth to and from the disk hard external, only 1/600 contributes to the progress of the backup.  I am sure that there is overload of certain checks and other tasks, but not to a 600-to-1 ratio.

I tried to disable the limitation of the I/O of low priority as shown here: http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/212537/time-machine-ridiculously-slow-a close-el-capitan-upgrade, that helps a bit (maybe 20-30%), but not by a factor of 10 for others.

I have gone through a number of the Time Machine of Pondini troubleshooting steps, but he found nothing corresponding to these symptoms.

The only thing I can conclude is that Time Machine, the application or configuration, on this specific MBA, is down. (A single thought that I wrote this to the top that I have not tried: the MBA and the time MBP running VMware Fusion and have a file of 50 + GB VM; on the MBA that is not excluded from TM backups while on the MBP is)

Does anyone have advice on what to watch next?  In all cases, only one key would be why it seems that only 0.16% of all the bandwidth I/O to the backup drive seems to be actual data backup.

Once again, three other Macs, all running the same 10.11.4, back to the Time Machine Server perfectly and have for years.  Only this new MBA glue as broken out, either to a network drive or an external hard drive USB3.

(A single thought that I wrote this to the top that I have not tried: the MBA and the time MBP running VMware Fusion and have a file of 50 + GB VM; on the MBA that is not excluded from TM backups while on the MBP is)

What happens when you exclude it as the MBP?

  • 7 Firefox is very slow to opening pages as compared Web o firefox6

Compared to firefox6, this version, ff ver # 7.0.1 is very slow to open Web pages. It takes a long time to display the Web page. I tried to disable add ons and did everything I could, but it seems that there is a no solution.

One possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or limits Firefox or plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after the detection of changes (update) for the Firefox program.

Delete all rules for Firefox in the list of permissions in the firewall and leave your firewall again ask permission to get full unlimited access to the internet for Firefox and the plugin-container and the update process.
