• R12.1.3 - questions to clone now after the DB to 11 GR 2

  R12.1.3 on RH Linux x86_64.

  Improved dB of 11.1.0.7 to 11.2.0.3 over the weekend and now try to make quick clone and having some difficulties.

  I have re-ran "how to recreate the directory/scripts / / appsutil [377495.1 ID]", but I see now that just creates the scripts directory and not my jre missing.

  Make sure you have the adcrdb.sh not only to the location ' / app/oracle/ebsd/db/tech_st/11.2.0/appsutil/install/EBSD_xxx ', but in this loc ' / app/oracle/ebsd/db/tech_st/11.2.0/appsutil/template ' also

  Just do an ls to /app/oracle/ebsd/db/tech_st/11.2.0/appsutil/template and check if the adcrdb.sh is present and with the appropriate permissions

• Question about moving linked clones

  I have a question about moving around related clones. Here is the configuration:

  PC running 7 Workstation and has an image of Windows XP existing on this subject.

  PC B 7 Workstation is running and also has its own image of Windows XP on it.

  I create a clone linked image on the PC to XP and create another clone bound B PC XP image that is out there.

  Now, I know that as long as the linked clones can access their parents, they will work very well. My question is, how is it that when I Exchange clones related - i.e. copy clone related, I did on the PC and put it on the PC B and copy the linked clone, I made on PC B and move it to PC A - how to make these two linked clones still work fine? They connect to a parent, but not the parent of origin where they have been cloned. It is tested and working 100% with absolutely no problems or problems at all. Can someone explain this to me please? Thank you!

  Each virtual disk (basic and Flash disks disks) has a unique identifier (CID). A virtual disk of the snapshot also contains information on the CID to his record parent (parentCID) to ensure that the drive chain is consistent.

  A linked clone is equal to a snapshot. Once you create a snapshot, all changes are written to the instant vmdk file and the parent remains intact vmdk file. As long as you provide the same disk parent a clone or snapshot, you can copy it as you like and the newly installed applications will appear because they are actually stored in the instant vmdk...

• Rokie question: better understand the clone process related

  I've been assessing the view for awhile, I have a few questions about the big picture behind the view.

  follow-up is my understing. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

  We will use XP as an example.

  1. I create image main the XP machine using vcenter server.

  2. shut down the computer, create a snapshot.

  3 using the vconnection server, create new linked clone pool with 50 related clones.

  4. the pool will use the snapshot as a base image.

  5. in the creation starts, I can see from the window of the vsphere client, it creates a folder called

  VMwareVewComposerReplicaFolder

  and created a replica.

  Replica-8skdjfh-2343-sdjf-ksjdf-skjdfhsdj02

  6. Once this replica has been correctly created, 50 linked clone created subsequently fairly quickly...

  7. after a few restarts, all 50 XP machine created with success, and vconnection screen shows 'available. '

  so my understanding is, the basic picture of these 50 machines will be this guy?

  All 50 machines will use the file replica and if you were to remove that they would be more work.   If you want to use Windows Update the parent windows update, version ip online, would you stop and create a new snapshot.   Once it was over, you can recompose the pool which would create a new replica with the updated patches.  The workstations that have been laid would be associated with the new replica.

  I now have the latest version of Adobe / but since the update I can no longer convert my Tiff to PDF files. Will be an earlier version of Adobe / Acrobat bring the ability to create a tiff to PDF

  Well, you will need Acrobat to do something like that. The converter online (CreatePDF) can do. This is a subscription service available with the latest version of Adobe Reader.

  But I guess the big question is, how exactly did you do before? Did you use export to PDF? That no longer works? I can't say with the little information given.

• Questions of design related-Clone

  I have a few questions regarding best practices for the design of a display environment that allows to use linked clones. In my scenario, I'm targeting two departments for a test pilot. The applications they use are similar, what is different is the shortcuts of the browser that would be generally install on their physical desktop deployment of the machine. I would rather them on one parent VM, so that they are not lost during a refresh. My question is, guys/ladies normally create a VM parent for each Department, or you just make a statue, take a snapshot for an apps to departments, and then revert to the original install different applications and then take another cliché?

  My second question is about snapshots. If I plan to not make use of WSUS and install the updates on the parent VM and then recompose (to keep the smaller delta records) it is common to start initial snapshot by an anchor, then once you install new ms updates take an another snapshop... and then once you confirm that everything works correctly You can delete the original snapshot of base? I'm still new to vsphere and instant, so I just need to better understand

  I think your best bet is to integrate as much as possible in your VM base.  This way you can patch the VM basis and then create new snapshots for each pool.   The problem here and I speak from experience, is that when your snapshot of pool turns is so different from the base image it is simply easier to patch this particular snapshot and then create the new snapshot.   Then you have a problem you describe where you can return each snapshot and install the updates.

  If you want to have a parent VM for each Department and then use a provisioning that will reduce your wasted space.    Also remember that you can use the same snapshot to different pools so if two departments use the same applications then you can use this snapshot for both.

  say the issue is, I got 2 version of perl, but the thing is when I check on the way, I can only find the version of Perl lib (v5.6.1)... where the hell this version (v5.10.0) came from...? I even value Path $perl5lib version (v5.6.1)... still no use when I run perl adpreclone.pl same error shows...

  I think you people can understand what is my problem, if you guys need anything else please let me know

I didn't find the Perl 5.10.0 folder all dishes in my oracle files, but the problem has been resolved, as after running the environment file, in the same congratulate window I put even good ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID LD_LIBRARY_PATH. TWO_TASK & PATH has already been fixed, so I started perl preclone.pl it worked fine...

• EBS 11i clone question

  Hi all
  It's been a while that I cloned our EBS 11i.
  We used to have an identical structure on applications and db between environments Prod, Uat, and Crp levels. Some time ago, we moved our Prod d/b on the SAN. So, now I have datafiles, redo logs and control files in different places then before. In production, they are now in/prod/oraprd/oracle/data, / prod/oraprd/oracle/redo/prod/oraprd/oracle/control.
  UAT, they are in the directory/uat/orauat/data.
  My question is: after I start an adpreclone.pl and copy the files on Uat, then unzip them in appropriate directories, can I then move to the init.ora parameter and change the locations of the control files?
  After that, change (IRPP) and rebuild controlfile prior to execution adcfgclone.pl?

  If you use SuperDuper or CCC! to make clones of your system drive, you can run a little experiment for me?

  With the clone disk connected, place your FCP in the trash. Do NOT drain.

  Try to re download the app on the App Store. You get a warning that the application is already installed?

  If you do not, stop downloading and backward the app from the trash to the Applications.

  I moved from FCP - X in the basket, with the clone (s) to the reader of the CCC system mounted.

  Went to the app store and FCP - X showed with an install button. Clicked on install and download started.

  My clone (s) have different volume names, don't know if that makes a difference.

• Server DHCP and NAT Clone Question

  I have the ea6500 and I was wondering what the DHCP server is for?

  I turned it off and everything seems to be able to connect without it.

  Am I missing something?

  Also, when I turn off clone my pc MAC addy, I can't connect to the internet. (My computer is hard wired to the router).

  What is the clone for and why can't connect without a permit?

  Just like what I mentioned on my previous post that if you disable the DHCP server that router will work only as a switch & if this occurs while a computer will be able to have the internet connection.

  Hi, I use the plugin vcenter vsm 3.5 to clone a single virtual machine, the plugin clone makes the data store the entire virtual machine residing in and if I have any amble amount of free space on the LUN the smart operation clone will fail, is it possible to clone only vm I need and omit the other vm in the same data store?

  I'm trying to convert a PDF to an image in Tiff format for sending. All goes well until I try to send. Tells me that the attachment exceeds the 25 MB message size limit. How can I change a size that will send, and what is the right size? Thanks for any help with this.

  I was wondering if anyone else getting an error when they recover their Instant clones related to trust now AD clones machines.

  Full message:

  The SAM database on the Windows Server doesn't have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship.

  Objects are found in AD and seem to be good. And the initial deployment of the office pool works very well. It's just when I go to recover all the jobs to fail.

  Additional information:

  1 AppVolume AppStack mounted (ver 2.11)

  1 writable AppVolume mounted no model profile

  Hey vplstingels, we are seeing this same problem. Running on 7.0.2. I decided to delete rather than recovering back them is the cause of these from SAM of the database.

• Question of Clone instant horizon 7

  I try to install 7 Horizon in my lab environment. Currently, I am deploying an instant Clone desktop pool.

  When I go to the section parameters of vCenter and I try to select a host cluster / I get the error message "Standalone hosts cannot be selected for instant pool."

  I have only 1 host at this time in my configuration of lab. Is it possible to work around this error and deploy an instant pool on a single host configuration?

  I think that for the moment-clone cluster is necessary, but it has no dependency on the number of ESXi hosts. You can create a cluster and add only one ESX host to it.

  With this, you should be able to deploy a clone of snapshot.
