  I just installed all new cartridges (they are real HP). But it does not print black.

  I went so all the help which is suggersted in the forum. But, no luck.

  I think that the print head is probably bad.  I spent about $70.00 for four cartridge 564XL.

  I'm too lazy on the purchase of a new black cartridge.

  Also, when I try to scan the alignment page, it says not found alignment page.

  It's more than 3-4 years. So, I probably need to buy a new.   HP maintenance tool detects any problems.

  I just wish I have not wasted $70.00 for the cartridges.  A new HP printr costs less than...

  The message here is a troubleshooting document links for the Photosmart 5520.  If steps it do not solve the problem, Please contact the HP Support, even if the printer is no longer under warranty.   If the above does not give satisfactory results so please post back here after contact you HP.

  From a post of Sunshyn2005, contact technical support HP see the following link to create yourself a file number, then call and it can help to expedite the appeal process:

  Step 1. Open the link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
  Step 2. Enter the product number or select Auto detection
  Step 3. Scroll up to "still need help? Fill out the form to select your contact options.
  Step 4. Scroll down and click on: contact HP options - click Get phone number
   
  File number and phone number appear, use them to contact HP.

  I scanned to send several times than I can count, but a few days ago, I get nothing other than the error "connection server 403 error." I checked the forums and someone said to go into apps and download the application. It did not work. I rebooted and tried everything, which he expects. Yet, nothing. Is this error to do with something outside as the real servers HPs - or is this something internal that I can fix it?   I understand that you have some problems with the scan to E-mail on your Photosmart 5520. I can help with that.

  We can try I couldn't see you is to remove and enable web services. To do:

  1. On the printer, click web services icon that looks like a tablet with a phone beside her.
  2. Click settings.
  3. Click on delete Web Services.
  4. Click again on the Web Services.
  5. Click on accept and Yes.
  6. Try scanning to Email.

  I would like to know if it works. If it does please not then let me know and we can try something else. Even if it solves your problems, so please let other users of the forum know clicking on accept as Solution below my post.

  Yesterday, I noticed that my black cartridge was low so I went out and bought all new and installed cartridges on my Photosmart 5520. I must say that price wise, it's a draw up between buying a new printer and the cartridges. Think I have save about $ 5 million by getting only the cartridges. The problem now is that the printer will not make copies of anyway, does anyone know why? It was working fine until I put the new in HP cartridges.

  I suggest the printer, disconnect the power supply to the wall.  Wait 60 seconds, and then reconnect the power.  The printer will go through a series of noises "power."

• HP Photosmart 5520: Printer crashes. Error B81605BE.

  I just bought a Photosmart 5520 - e and cannot open the HP utility to complete the installation. I am running OSX 10.9.5. All I get when installation has reached a level that is expected to open the Configuration Utility Wizard is a message that the utility in an unexpected way. I downloaded and installed the latest software on the HP site. Can anyone help with this? I am able to print, copy and scan (I use a USB cable connection, have not tried to set up a wireless connection).   The manual is not wrong.  You can remove the cover on a 5110.  I was just trying to do the right way the first time.  This post told me how to do it.  As far as I know, the only things that have changed since the 5510-5520 are the firmware and internal control.  The shell of the printer must be roughly the same.

• HP Photosmart 5520 will not feed after sleep

  I just bought the HP Photosmart 5520 and connected via USB to my computer (under Windows Vista Build 6002). I tested all the functions (print, scan, copy) and they work fine.   I have now received my replacement of HP printer and it works as it should which is when he goes to sleep, you can wake him up by tapping the button On / Off on the front panel.

  I had a little problem because when he goes to sleep and you submit a print job, the printer does not automatically wake up and I had to press the power button to start printing. I followed the advice of Mulespinner about disabling automatic start/stop and this morning I sent the first print job to the printer "awakened" and fine print. My printer is connected via a USB cable.

  Thus, it has been a bit of a trip since I posted my original message (October 15, 2013), but everything works as it should be now. So, if you encounter the problem initially reported by myself and Mulespinner, the only solution is a replacement printer.

  About HP, the hard bit was getting to them that there was a problem, but once that has been established, the replacement option went like clockwork, and it's a good printer.

  I have a new HP Photosmart 5520 printer all-in-one.  Black ink ran out so I replaced it with a previously used ink cartridge which is of the same type # 564 but a XL version.  This cartridge has been barely used.  Now, I just can't get anything to print in black.  It will print in color, but not black.  I tried to turn off the printer.  I put the cartridge in my printer and it worked fine.  What should I do?

• HP Photosmart 5520: Factory definition and "time".

  I have a Photosmart 5520. While I was away I used a different printer and when I came to change the printer to my own he asked me a name administrators and password before proceeding. Of course like so many others I have not the slightest idea what is despite trying many combinations. Then, I tried to find out what others have done and took the printer back to factory settings. When trying to connect to the WPS PIN, (which lasts 4 minutes), he repeatedly said "timed out" just before the end, twice when he had only 1 second to go.

  At this point, the fact that you try to connect by using the pin code WPS tells me that you try to reconfigure the printer to your wireless network. If this is correct, run the Wireless Setup Wizard instead. To run the wizard, tap the wireless on the top of the screen (this is the 2nd of the 4 icons at the top), then navigate to and select Setup Wizard wireless. This wizard will search your network and then ask for the password.

  When I try and print/piece attached to my M9 a HTC wireless on my HP Photosmart 5520 I get an error message saying that the "print spooler has stopped." Then I get a message saying "this printer is not available right now.

  I can print pictures from my phone and any type of document from our computers (connected or wireless USB).

  The print queue is empty.

  What should I try next?

  NOTE: The print window might be minimized. Click Show details to see all the available parameters.
  
  Click the Copies and Pages of the menu drop down and select layout.
  
  Set the duplex as the binding edge Long (Portrait) or binding Long Edge (landscape).
  
  You can save the settings for later use by clicking preset > save current settings as preset. By default, a used preset will remain until another preset will be used.

  My husband recently bought a HP Photosmart 5520 printer while overseas, it was mailed to me and he always tells me that one or more of the cartledges ink are broken or missing and should be replaced, but when I up open transport of ink access door won't move at all and I cannot even make it move using my hands help Please?

  My cartridge was blocked completely to the right, could not move at all. After having much jiggling autour and try to pull to the left the transport kind of jumps down a little more inside to the right.  I tried to pull it to the left, but he was stuck again as something he was blocking, and it came to the top when I shot more difficult.  I messed with it to the point where the transport jumped down, and then I plugged the printer in and it worked very well. I know not what was wrong with it exactly, but it seemed to fix it
