port of mSATA for E550

Hello

I plan to buy Lenovo Thinkpad E550. I want to have a disc SSD and HDD. Currently, the Lenovo does not offer this option. They have either HDD or SSD.

I want to know if E550 comes with an mSATA port so that I can attach a separate SSD on mine. I want to have both drives as well as other with SSD hosting operating system.

Also, I don't want to go with full SSD option (available at a higher price) or a hybrid option (as SSD comes as a cache).

Thank you

-Neeraj

It's maybe a little late, but if anyone wants to know, I can confirm that the E550 has no mSATA ports.

  • Screws for msata for XPS 8500 card card mother screwposts (informative)

I ordered a Crucial msata for my XPS 8500 card.  Installing an msata card requires two screws to CAPSA map for the two screwposts on the motherboard.  Crucial does not include screws and neither does Dell.  Working with Dell I was able to identify the specifications for the required screw neeeded anchor map msata in positions.  Without the screws an msata card will fall just out of the slot msata.  For any of you out there with the same need is the specification of the screw:

    SCR:M2X3:KSH:MS:BLO

The screws are tiny metric screws and without the specs, they are incredibly hard to find.  No specification on page 58 of the Dell XPS 8500 manual, which is where the diagram is for installing an msata card.  Dell is expected to add this info in a footnote on page 58.

Note to Dell's Support staff who might be reading this: this specification of screws for the use of other customers of the file.

I bought a portable screw Kit made by Rhino Fry Electronics which had the screws in it. These are screws x3mm m2. The kit is the AS-11 model number. Bar code is 8 54190 00103 9.  Rhino has a websit - www.rhino-tek.com.  You can also find them on ebay.  Anyway, I put a map of msata Crucial 256 MB in my XPS 8500 and am a happy camper with her.

  • mSATA for x 230

    Hi guys,.

My x 230 is only equipped with HARD drive. Is it possible to add a disk to cache msata? Can I do it by myself?

    Concerning

Unless it's done by the service of Lenovo, you may have to warranty issues. In the United States, the mSATA is not an option, but I don't know about the Poland. That said, it is very easy to implement, but tell us what you want to do

Me? I would opt for one SSD for the OS, programs and an mSATA for data - much easier to put in place also.

  • Serial Port is configured for a virtual machine...

    Dear team,

I found the serial port is configured on one of the virtual machine, which follows is the blink of an eye the same.

    1.JPG

Just want, serial port is required for the devices on which?

Usually, you see the serial port after a P2V and not detached from the VM.

Why is it necessary?  Nowadays it probably isn't, but there are days where we still used modems on (among other things) serial ports.  Introducing a serial port to the virtual machine, you can go through the device that was attached to the serial port of the server host directly on the virtual computer.

Today it is not really useful and you can probably just close the virtual machine and remove it.

  • Multi-port USB adapter for the MacBook USB - C Port?

    Hello

I'm in pain, trying to find a USB adapter multi-port for my MacBook 2016, which only has a single port USB - C which is also like a power port.

I already done is connect the WD My Passport drive external HARD to the MacBook via an adapter HooToo, that to see any HARD drive mounted in OS X.

OS X makes a sound when it is connected, but apparently the adapter provides insufficient power for the HARD drive needs to be loaded.

I got Belkin USB multi-port here:

    http://www.Apple.com/us/search/USB-ports?SEL=accessories & src = SERP

But it is not certain if one of them provides enough power, so I would try rather than a person has used successfully with a MacBook and an external HARD drive,

If not, opt for a multi-port adapter USB brand Apple.

Please let me know about your experience or an Apple adapter.

    Thanks in advance

My Apple 3 port works as advertised. The USB port has a perfect compatibility with the old and readers USB 3, my adapter Ethernet USB Apple and Trendnet USB adapter that I use in series. This includes the perfect function with a 10 VM Windows via VMware Fusion.

A non - Apple C to an adapter that I bought works fine too. I don't see the brand on this subject but he chose via Amazon ratings. There were some with higher ratings, so that's how I made the choice.

  • Portege R500 - USB ports no longer for 35 to 60 seconds after standby

When my R500 (running Vista Business) wakes in sleep mode, Vista is ready to be used within 7 seconds approximately. It would be great, except that the USB ports and the function Bluetooth wake for another 25 to 50 seconds.

I use a USB or Bluetooth mouse and I find that this long delay start spoiling the otherwise excellent user experience.

Has anyone noticed the same problem, or did someone knows a solution?

You use a USB or Bluetooth mouse?

Try updating the chipset drivers. You can find it on the Toshiba site:

In addition, an update of the BIOS could also solve the problem. Try it!

  • Hi speed USB via a Port Replicator advanced for a Tecra 9100?

I have the same problem with a Tecra 9100 and upgrade to hi speed USB as a previous post where the proposed solution was to use a PCMCIA card.

    (see link: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=24103)

I had an idea, but I don't know if it will work and need some advice?

Can you buy an Advanced Port Replicator that has Hi Speed USB 2.0 ports on it (like the PA3082U APR II that works with the Tecra 9100) instead of the PCMCIA card.

If the docks of Port Replicator in the motherboard will it give you Hi Speed USB 2.0, or is the Tecra 9100 forced to USB 1.1 via hardware in the laptop itself and the Replicator will not help?

Also if I go down the road of Port Replicator I need drivers for speed ports Hi of the Replicator to work on the Tecra 9100?

Or to ask the question – what is the PCMIA USB 2.0 card in that advanced with HI Port Replicator speeed USB is not?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

the Tecra 9100 has NO usb 2.0 and it's a fact. Given that the Replicator has these USB ports 2.0 does not mean that your machine when it is docked to the Portrep, is able to manage USB 2.0 devices. The portrep, it's like a usb hub and behaves like. So if your machine doesn´t have it then that's it.

And the explanation on the PCMCIA/Cardbus solution:
The pcmcia card USB 2.0 Chipset, this is the reason why it IS a USB 2.0 device (roothub).

I hope this was clear to you :)

Just buy this card and you will have USB 2.0

You will need an s-video cable just.
If the TV does not support the s-video port and supports only a port RCA or SCART to buy an adapter.

Each computer, the stereo and the TV dealer should provide these cables and adapters.

  • HP a6554f: Front USB Ports not working for a6554f

Hi, I cleaned the dust from my computer yesterday for the first time because the computer kept crashing. I removed the motherboard, so I unplugged everything that was clinging to her and I also removed the hard drive then plugged everything once I had finished, (do not know if I just plugged in as it was, even if I took a video of it, but the wasen can't good quality so I had to guess a little). I also added thermal compound to the cpu.

Anyway, everyhting seems to work except the 2 usb ports front of the case. It was working fine until I opened the case (this is why I do not open the computers, but the dust was just too). The audio ports and microphone located in the front work correctly. And the rear USB ports are working properly.

What I've done so far is running pilot Booster and also I went to Device Manager > USB Bus controllers, then I turned off everything on the list, then allowed them again. And nothing has worked.

I don't know much about computers so I don't want to go to the hassle of opening the case cause once again I was scared lol but could I maybe hooked up a cable in the port of fake?

Also, is there a diagram to show where each cable goes to the a6554f model?

As you pointed out the audio before and MIC ports are working, then it might be just the plug for the ports before USB is not properly or is in the wrong place.  Here is a page that relates to the motherboard. In the lower right corner of the image or the page layout scheme, there are two blocks header before normally taken into USB ports.  Says F_USB1 and F_USB2.  Either we must work to the front ports.  Check to make sure that the wiring box beam (which has the wires going to the front USB ports) is connected on one of them.

  • Compaq SG3-350UK: port USB2 Upgrade for USB3

    Hello, I'm new here.

I have a desktop Compaq SG3-350UK with 4 USB2 ports.  I want to update at least one for USB3 to speed up backups to external storage.

Can anyone tell if this is possible and if so what parts to buy and how to do it.

    Thanks Steve_38

    Steve-

You would need to buy an expansion PCI Express (PCIe x 1) card,
who will be its SuperSpeed USB 3.0 at the back of the computer ports.

There are several to choose from, the most popular-2 and 4-ports.

POTENTIAL RFI: USB 3.0 and 2.4 GHz ISM band wireless (Wi - Fi and Bluetooth)
    PC Magazine, September 9, 2013
    http://www.PCMag.com/Article2/0, 2817,2423604,00.asp

Cables and USB 3.0 devices can interfere with devices operating in the 2.4 GHz ISM band wireless. This can cause a drop in flow or a complete loss of response with Bluetooth and Wi - Fi devices.
Various strategies can be applied to solve the problem, ranging from simple solutions like increasing the distance of USB 3.0 of Wi - Fi and Bluetooth routers peripheral devices, to the application of shielding around the additional internal computer components.

  • No matter which usb port I use for a usb hub

I have a compac presario CQ60-215DX notebook and I want to install a usb hub. No matter which usb port I use? would also like to know if it is necessary to remove it to restart my computer"

    Thanks for any help.

    Karen

The only time you usually get trouble with USB ports is when you mix both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 devices.

    • For all USB 3.0 is backward compatible, it is simply not the case that all the older devices are USB 3.0 compatible.  If you have a problem with an older device, consider that it may be because it is plugged into a USB 3.0 hub / port.
    • Not all hubs are created equal.  If you try to run some devices high speed (things you plug a hub) on a lower speed (2.0) turntable, they may lose the integrity of the data (Act funny) or refuse to perform certain tasks (depending on the device).  These devices may work best when it is plugged directly into the computer no matter that they are running as the USB 3.0 or USB 2.0.  It is not, therefore, necessarily what port the hub is connected - rather, it could be the hub itself (if you have problems).

Peripheral USB could better with a reboot - some may not reset at all without rebooting.  A USB hub, one of the simplest types - these are usually plug-and-play.  That's all that is connected to the hub, which could be the determining factor for the restart.  It's Windows - it is always better to restart when things change.

  • What should be the port/security settings for Windows Mail with Vista - I think they changed?

I had to reinstall Vista when my hard drive crashed, and Windows Mail does not work completely correctly. I think remember me an email from Microsoft told me to change the ports/security settings. Could someone tell me what they should be?

A "error message indicating", what exactly? No error code or the relevant text?

Make sure these settings match exactly.

Leave messages on the server and it clutter?
