Port on fabric interconnet channel

Hello

I have a UCS fabric port-channel interconnect up to Nexus 5 k.

My question is if I can change the mechanism of counterbalance to the port-channel load in the interconnection of fabric?

By default, it is on:

No - IP: source-dest-mac

IP: ip-dest-source source-dest-mac

Thanks in advance

Moti

Moti,

There is currently no way to change the fluxhing of load balancing in the fabric of the interconnections.  There was an improvement of submitted request (CSCuc68800), but we don't have a timeline on the it can be implemented.

  • How to check the use of the channels of port on fabric of interconnection?

    Hi all

Is there a mechanism to view and export the use of ports or port channel fabric Interconnect 6248.

I need to export for the last 15 days. Is there a command or options in the GUI I can export it

    Greetings.

Native statistics are unlikely to give you a historical trend for the period you're looking for.  See the monitoring/stats for the UCSM system section for more information on the rules of collection of statistics.  The default value for the period appears to be 2 hrs to watch statistics table.

You can look something like manage performance UCSr, which can do a trend and will retain much historical perspective of production like detailed.

For a short term in UCSM view, click the LAN tab, then a given port channel, in the right pane statistics, chart and "configure chart" to add in the box counters as "total number of bytes.

  • 6248 fabric interconnects FC interfaces and MDS ports license

    Hello

I need help. I need to configure port-channel of CF between 2 x 9148 MDS and 2 x Cisco fabric interconnects. My main problem here is interfaces CF appear not on the fabric of interconnections (UCS Manager). I don't see ethernet ports. I have to turn on the unified ports or do I license for CF?

I also connected the ds-sfp-fc8g-sw FPS but I get the error "operation status failed, reason: SFP Validation failed.

Another thing, all 48 FC ports on switches DMS 9148 acquire the license. Aren't they supposed to come with 16 ports enabled by default?

    Any ideas?

    Hi Selby

6248 FI unified ports, by default, all are Ethernet; so as a first step, you must configure the FC ports.

You just need Ethernet port licenses, which are also universal.

    See, for example.

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/message/3763853#3763853

For SDM 9148 licenses take a look on

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/storage-networking/MDS-9148-multilayer-fabric-switch/data_sheet_c78-571411.html

  • Module adaptation NOR - 6581 FlexRIO - Can one single port of IO have a few lines of channel defined as inputs and some defined as outputs?

    Hello

I use a 6581 with 7965R FlexRIO FPGA module adaptation module. E/s/Port CLIP Module allows to configure a port as an input or output, but I would first of all a line of a port as an exit channel and the remaining lines of seven channels as inputs, it is possible to do?

    Thank you

    Maurice.

    Hello Maurice.

The 6581 adaptation module can only change direction based on port (not on a basis of individual line).  This can be seen in the specs here.  There are other modules of digital adapter that support by the steering control of channels such as the NOR 6583.  The NI 6583 35 single ended e/s and the input/output LVDS (or mLVDS).

    I had a topology.

Everything has been properly configured, I veried all channels ports work on all switches... all hosts can talk to each other in their VLAN respective.

Yes, even if these links were green in your portchannel LACP always would play you a loop, for this purpose, he blocked because of the fact that you have more links (aggregate bandwidth) between other switches so it is allowing more transmission between.

    Joris

    Hi Joris,

It is a known problem and is documented as a cosmetic bug internal. Logically speaking, CDP is not supported on etherchannel interfaces and 'sh cdp port-channel' command should not be available.

The platform of 6500, although the "port channel show cdp neighbor" returns the result, it's just for convenience and does not mean that the CDP is supported on the port channels. In fact, if you try to enable CDP on port-channel on 6500, it generates an error:

    PO1 #int 6500 (config)

    6500(Config-if) #cdp en

% CDP is not supported on this interface, or for this encapsulation

If you run "debug cdp events", you can see the packets exchanged on the physical interface rather than on the port-channel. Correct way is to check the neighborship of the cdp on the physical interfaces.

    See you soon,.

  • IOS NXOS VPC PORT channel

    Hello

I have a pair of Nexus 5 K in an area of the VPC and few 2960's as members of the VPC, with a port to the domain channel.

    Topology is:

    5K 1 and 5 K 2 in the area of the VPC

    VPC 5 1 K and 5 K 2 to 2960

    2960 a gi0/1 and gi0/2 in 1 port channel

    Gi0/1 5 k 1, gi0/2 5 k 2

I know what I'm going to ask can be completely against the purpose of the VPC, but I'm looking for a way to promote gi0/1 for traffic, rather than balancing on gi0/1 and gi0/2. The reaon for this is I want to take advantage of the absence of loop that provides mail ORDER, but would also like to have a link primary and secondary, as the majority of traffic should in fact go through 5K 1, rather than 5 K 2.

    Any suggestion is welcome.

    Thanks in advance

    Anthony

    Hi Anthony,.

The Cisco NX - OS software load balance traffic across all operational interfaces in a portchannel by chopping the addresses in a numeric value that selects one of the links in the channel. Port channels provides default load balancing. It uses IP addresses, MAC addresses or layer port numbers 4 to select the port-channel-balancing link of the load. The port-channel load balancing uses the source or destination or port addresses, or both the source and ports or destination addresses.

You can configure the mode of load balancing to be applied to all port channels that are configured on all of the device, or the specified modules. Each module configuration takes precedence over the configuration of load balancing for the entire device. You can configure a single mode of load balancing for the whole device, a different mode for specified

modules and another mode of the other specified modules. You can not configure the port-channel load balancing method.

You can configure the type of balancing algorithm used. You can choose the balancing algorithm that determines which Member port to select for the evacuation traffic by looking at the fields of the frame.

Note: The mode of load balancing by default for layer 3 interfaces is the IP source and destination address, and the mode of the load balancing by default for non - IP interfaces is the source MAC address and destination.

The configuration mode, you can try different method of load-balancing,

    port-channel - the balance of the load {dest-ip-port | dest-ip-port-vlan |}

    destination-ip-vlan. destination-mac | destination-port | source-dest-ip-port | source-dest-ip-port-vlan. source-dest-ip-vlan. source-dest-mac | source-dest-port | Source-ip-port | Source-ip-port-vlan. Source-ip-vlan. source-mac | source-port} [number of the module]

To sum up: I can't tell which port would be chosen, it depends purely on image type you send with the combination method of load balancing.

After you change you know also from the command which link takes the traffic.

    NEXUS2-SPAN # show the port-channel - the balance of the charge-transfer port-channel 71 src - ip 1.1.1.1 route dst - ip 2.2.2.2 VLANs 51 2 interface module

Module 2: Missing params will be substituted by 0.

Load balancing algorithm: src - dst ip-l4port

RBH: port id out 0xb0: Ethernet8/8

We can try also to rework the same NLB on the 2960 also. Is it purely depends on the algorithm of load balancing. Below is for 2960 balancing tweaking,

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/switches/LAN/catalyst2960/software/release/12.2_53_se/configuration/guide/swethchl.html

Even after doing this that I wouldn't say 100 percent, he would choose a link.

    I hope this helps!

    Thank you

    Richard.

  • Configuring the additional server ports

Hi, if I use 2 ports per chassis of the server and want to add another 2, in addition to plug the cables and the settings, on the interconnection ports to "Set up as a Server Port" y at - it something else which is necessary and there is no interruption of traffic?

    Hello David,.

If the links between IOM and FI server ports are individual links, then you will recognize the chassis to initialize the new links. This will cause disturbances of the network for a few seconds.

There is no need to re - recognize the chassis if there is a channel of port of fabric between the IOM and FI.

  • UCS C420M3 server with VIC 1225, can't see the ethernet LOM ports

    Hi Guyz,

We have C420M3 server with VIC 1225 connected on PCIe slot, with fabric Interconnet.

After you have installed the OS & drivers, vNIC created the VIC 1225 by the service profile appear, but 4 gig on server LOM ports do not appear.

    Any idea. ?

    Thank you

If you incorporate your rack server to UCSM, you will be able to use the LOM ONLY ports for traffic of Mgmt, when you join the server mode to 'Dual Wire'.

It is useless (unless you have one for a special reason, I do not intend at this very moment) to use ports LOM, once you entered the server, precisely because of the 1225 VIC is not a regular NIC card or a regular HBA, it is indeed a CNA (Converged Network Adapter), which essentially allows you to do in a map , what you would do with two (which means "what you would do with a NETWORK card and HBA separated')

When you have a VIC card, you actually have the ability to create up to 256 virtual interfaces (this is the capacity of the equipment, always limited by the operating system, please keep this in mind), this is the reason why, after the server is integrated, entirely rely on the interfaces in the Service profile instead of the physical interfaces.

    Find more info here:

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/products/interfaces-modules/unified-computi...

You have a specific reason to use the LOM ports rather than create 2 additional virtual interfaces in Server Service profile?

  • Battery M8024-k (pair) M3048 (pair) battery gal, VLAN and port groups?

    Hi all

I'm getting more confused by the minute.  I have a pair of M8024-k blade switches in a M1000e enclosure, outside, I have a pair of N3048 switches.

I think I have the job of stacking on the M8024-k, but I found a configuration guide for Simple mode that says take port 17-20 outside the Group of ports on the pair aggregation and leave the stack ports and internally in the PA Group.  When I do that they remain outside the group, if I do it in the CLI or the GUI.

Does anyone have a configuration guide that shows how I can pair trunk the 2 together and allow 4 VLAN that I keep coming without access to blade servers inside?  What I get out of simple mode on the M8024-k to achieve?

    Any help gratefully received.

The best source of information is going to be the user guides.

    www.Dell.com/.../manuals

    www.Dell.com/.../manuals

I would wear the 8024-k off simple mode.

    Console# not simple mode

On two batteries, you will need to aggregate 4 ports together.  Here is an example to place a port in an aggregation group.

Console (config) # interface gigabitethernet 0/1/5

    Console (Config-if-1/0/5) # channel-group mode 1 (active / Auto)

Once the ports are in a channel-group 1, we can then configure the channel group to perform for several VLANs.

    Console (config) # interface port-channel 1

    trunk mode console (config-if-po1) #switchport

#switchport console (config-if-po1) trunk allowed vlan add 2-150

This is done, you should have connectivity.

    Keep us informed.

    See you soon,.

    Ilyas

    Ilyas,

This is what I'm talking about.

Them VLAN Trunking on the port-channel interface and the Member must match interfaces. If there is a mismatch, the status of the interfaces will be down
