Portégé R700-15 q - t - it have 3G capability

Hello

I recently got a R700-15 q.
When you use the usual updates Toshiba advised several G 3 drivers and software updates, but it will not install and others do not recognize a 3G device.

I can't find anything that says this laptop has features 3G, but why Toshiba recommends these updates?

If the laptop doesn't come with 3G - is it possible to install it?

Thanks for your help.

Hello

This laptop model does not support Bluetooth and does not support the 3G module
It s support just WLan.

The point is that there are different R700 on the market with different configurations and hardware components but a single image.
Therefore, you can receive these update notifications.

Welcome them

    Ok... I give up.

    Toshiba, you win, great fun.

Now - anyone out there found the well-kept secret of * where * you can install a SIM on a Portégé R700-185?

Go somewhere (?)... the F3607gw Ericsson 3G module is picked up by Windows 7, TOSHIBA Wireless Manager came pre-installed and (unfortunately) tells me that I have no SIM installed (Yes... (Thanks for that).
The specification for the 185 said that it's 3G, although apparently all Web sites simply copied the same text of presentation to the press of Toshiba Office then perhaps this is a mistake - there is no mention at all that I can find the user manual (I downloaded it again just to make sure). I get offered drivers for it, though, so maybe that's a good sign. :)

I looked under the two removable panels - there memory, the other has a bunch of chips... no obvious SIM card and I am reluctant to go sting!

Does anyone know - ' cos Toshiba seem to be saying? Thanks in advance...

    Hello

I n t have this model of laptop but if I remember correctly (already discussed on this forum) slot for SIM card is visible when you remove the battery.

Remove it please it stack and I hope that you will find.

  • Portégé R700-14 days - Express Port Replicator II-Compatible?

Today, I received my TOSHIBA Express Port Replicator II (PA3680E-1PRP) to use with my TOSHIBA Portege R700-14 days (PT311E-023006DU). I seem to be unable to break the laptop easily into the docking station.
Please let me know if this port replicator docking station is * the right * for the Portégé R700-14 days.

    Thank you
    Bert van Loon

    Hi mostlymedia,

I searched a bit using Google and I found that Port Replicator II is compatible with Portégé M750 and Tecra A/M/R/S series but no information on Portege R700 :(

I think you should ask the ASP in your country if it s the right part or not until you make a mistake.

  • Re: Portégé R700 - is possible to downgrade to XP?

I'm considering buying a R700. I have or take care of several other computers, laptops and office (for a charity) and they are all still under Windows XP.

Is it still possible to downgrade a new R700 to run Windows XP so that all my machines can be on the same OS.

    Thank you.

    Hello

The compatibility of other operating systems, you can check on the Web from Toshiba site yourself if there are other drivers available.

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

As you can see on the page of official driver download all drivers for Windows XP are available so that it supports XP! :)

  • Re: Portégé r700 - problem of periodic start-up SSD Upgrade / freezing

Hoping someone can help or shed light on a problem I'm having with my r700-17w since I installed an SSD OCZ Vertex 2 in. I have it loaded with Windows 7 64-bit (SP1) and installed the following:

    BIOS: 1.9
    Intel storage driver: 9.6.3.1001
    Fingerprint software: 1.0.2.32

After using for a while and then restarting it, it just does not start. He is stuck on the home screen "Toshiba innovation '' and nothing for ages (and, sometimes, then just a blinking cursor), the HARD drive light stays on all the time and doesn't blink. If I shut it down for a while, or disconnect the battery and restart - he finally returned after a few failed attempts. Sometimes, I have to remove battery and power for a period and then press and hold F8 while putting power in order to access the screen Windows boot option, where I can then do a normal boot and all is well again.

I read about the problem of gel, but that was due to an old version of the fingerprint software, but I tried to uninstall it but it made no difference. I thought that it would be in with the response time of the SSD drive to your startup controller and so tried to change the boot order - which made no difference either.

It's REALLY annoying, when it does not start, it works completely fine. But whenever I've turned off or have to restart there is this doubt that I'll have to go through this stomach ball every time...

    Everyone knows this? !!

    Hello

I agree with the user above. I would check the OCZ website if there is an update of the firmware for your new SSD.

But if it s no longer works, I guess the new SSD could be defective :(

  • Portégé R700-15 q-Use the SSD as 2nd drive

    Hello

I would like to install a small SSD as a second drive in my r700-15 q, in order to experience the renaissance SSD.

I see that others have done that using a shopping cart that is installed in the optical drive Bay.

My laptop is not equipped with an optical drive, or a Bay for an optical drive. Only, it came with a traditional hard drive 7200 RPM. Here is the http://www.toshiba.co.uk/discontinued-products/portege-r700-15q/ complete spec

Is there anyway to install a second drive in my laptop (r700-15 (q)?

In the worst cases, is there enough connectors and isolating a space to accommodate a small SSD inside with tape!

    Thank you!

If you want to use an SSD, you should replace the internal HARD disc

  • Re: Portégé R700 - how to install Windows 7 on new SSD?

    Hello!

I want to change my HDD in Toshiba Portege R700 to SSD. How to install Windows 7 on this new SSD? I don't have any Windows installation disc.

Or that it will be possible to move the partition of the old HDD to new SSD (using Acronis, I could move the partition on the new HARD drive)?

I've heard of partition offset and this SSD block should be the same as FAT cluster (the same alignment).

All advice? (I know should I defragment my HARD drive before moving :))

    Hey Buddy,

    > I do not have any Windows installation disc.
Create the Toshiba recovery disc as mentioned in the manual of the user before you exchange the disc, then you have a Setup disk. The Toshiba recovery disc will restore parameters of the box with all the drivers and tools. It can be used on each disc and how many times you want.

After this change the drive and start the Toshiba recovery disc. Follow the instructions on the screen and everything will be installed.

    Check this box!

  • Re: Portégé R700 - broadband modem not recognized anymore

    Hello

I have a problem with my Portege R700.
In recent weeks the modem internal broadband is most recognized.
I tried several settings and also install the original Image. But the modem is still not available.

Do you have ideas of how to do to correct this.
Maybe after that last updated BIOS (2.20) the modem is hidden...

Does anyone has the same problem?

    Best regards
    Chris

    > I tried several settings and also install the original Image.
Which is really strange, especially after the installation of recovery image.

Have you checked the Device Manager? Some unknown device listed here? I can't believe that this modem can go for no reason.

  • Close the port 455, is it necessary? I have windows firewall IT and using Windows Essentials.

How to close port 445?  Should it be closed? What effect will have open/closed? I am a novice user and understand many uses and ways to configure certain parts of my computer. This open port sparked yet another in the functioning of my PC. Thank you Jerome.

I can't imagine why you would want to do and I have no intention of frelling with any of my Windows machines to try it for you. If you feel better close your port 455, simply use the Windows Firewall to do. You must take the advice of Steve Gibson with a grain of salt. If your computer is clean, you have a good antivirus installed, you are using a firewall, are behind a router and practice "Safe Hex" then find something else to worry about. But that's just my opinion.

  • Portégé R700 - 15L - 3 G is not recognized by the system

    Hello

I already bought this laptop and I have problem with 3G driver to work.

I downloaded the latest drivers from the website, but the device was not recognized by the system?

    Any ideas how to fix?

Best way to fix this is to install the original OS, you got with this portable Portege. Original recovery image contains all the necessary drivers and tools and utilities.

When you use the FN + F8 key combination what options are available?

  • Re: Portégé R700 - how to reset the BIOS/supervisor password?

    Hi all

I just bought a used Portege R700 and want to reinstall Windows.
I can't access the BIOS due to a configuration of PasswordUtility from Toshiba supervisor password. The previous owner did not provide this password.

    How can I reset it?

    Thank you

    Hi Spets

You cannot reset the BIOS password. It must be done by the Toshiba authorised service provider. I'm sorry.

If you need addresses and phone numbers, you can find it on Toshiba support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads > find an ASP.

  • Re: Portégé R700-184 - built in microphone does not

I can't get the microphone to work. However, it works very well with a micro usb external.

Have tried changing the settings in the control panel called "His" when I click on the tab "recording". "Microphone" shows a green check mark as a default device. Strangely, the bar graduated to the right of the microphone, sometimes shows random environmental activities, but nothing which relates to sounds that I do at the time. Driver is functional and up to date.

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

    Hey,.

    > Driver is functional and up to date.
Which driver you mean exactly? I hope is not the audio driver because it has nothing to do with the internal mic. It belongs to the webcam, so you must reinstall/update the driver for the webcam.
