  I would not exceed 1333 MHz and I would ge standard 1.5V chip not the 1.35 V chip.

• Portege R930 - BSOD when connecting monitor high resolution with HDMI port

  Hello.

  I have a Portege R930 (pt331a-01w001) running Windows 7. All about the laptop works as expected, however, when I connect the laptop on a screen high resolution (2560 x 1440) via the HDMI port, I get a blue screen of death.
  Can I use the HDMI port to connect my 1080 p LCD TV and my monitor to work which is a lower resolution and it works well.

  I tried several cables and different monitors of the same resolution.

  If anyone can help?

  Hello... I just did a reconstruction and I have problems to start windows when configuring memory at 1600 mhz in bios.

  Now, in shopping for this reconstruction, I noticed some criticism of memory problems, but not how to solve this problem, other than to change the settings in the bios. I just read on times and tensions, but I'm not sure if and what is true for my scenario and even if I came on my own this far I'm a little lost with playing with the parameters of memory never had to do before.

  By default the memory appears in the bios as 1333 mhz although I don't know why, if there is a problem with the memory or just how the M/B is set at the factory. As it is, my pc works perfectly fast but I would like that you wait, get the full potential that I made the effort to buy memory 1600.

  1600 means generally that you have XMP enabled in the BIOS. Disable the XMP and then run Memtest86 +.

  Memtest runs from a floppy disk or CD and should eliminate or confirm if one or more of your sticks of memory are bad or the values of the SPD in the BIOS are correct.
  Let it run for as long as you can: 2,4,6,8 or several hours (at least 3 full passes), so no errors at that time then your ram is OK.

  I have an a Portege R930. I run an application of 25-30% of the CPU for long hours. If I put the laptop in mode 'sleep', the calculation get suspended? If not, and it is still running, how the CPU is cooled when the fan is off mode 'sleep'? The CPU can overheat?

  I * don't * want my program from several hours to be interrupted by a detector from overheating. If I know that the program is suspended in mode 'sleep', I fear enter "standby" mode. If this isn't the case, so I'll keep the laptop awake, and if I need to carry the laptop, I'll put it into hibernation.

  I recently acquired a Toshiba Portege R930 - 14 X, a friend. It is running Windows Pro 8.1, it came with any disks etc. It does not seem to have any of the supplied software, he would come with out of the box. Please excuse that my ignorance, but is there anyway I can restore it or download it please.

• Portege R930 - upgrade the mSATA SSD succssfull

  Just briefly, I wanted to report an SSD upgrade.

  When I got my Portege R930 (PT331E, i7) two years ago, I changed the HD to a PRO 840 Samsung SSD 512 GB (big improvement). Now, this SSD is too small (photos!) and I wanted to increase the capacity up to 1 TB.

  But instead of a new SATA, I decided to go for an mSATA + adapter SATA I felt an mSATA unit would be more "evolutionary" - next update of the laptop for me would be a Portege Z, who use mSATA.

  So I bought a Samsung 850 EVO 1 TB with a Delock adapter/converter mSATA SSD, made a clone of the Apricorn cable and the software switched the SSD and everything works fine (actually a little faster )! At first I tried to use the clone with software from Samsungs migration but this didn t work, maybe I didn t the right version.

  -Now I have a lager SSD that will live longer than my R930. Please note that I'm not an expert with computers - just a happy user Toshiba! Thanks for a good forum with my good ideas!

• Portege R930 gets hot enough

  My Portege R930 (PT331E - i7) becomes quite warm today, earlier it was very silent, now the fan is 70% most of the time.

  I open the bottom cover and checked the cooling paste on top of the processor - seemed rather dry.

  Should I change the dough? I cleaned the fan.

  If you have already removed your laptop and cleaned vents and grid cooling cooling you can also change the FAT if you know how to do this. I mean, why not. Laptop is already open.

  Usually after the computer cooling system laptop cleaning should work a lot quieter. A few years ago I did this on my machine. I found so much dust inside which blocked the air flow.

• Portege R930 brightness increases when the shiny things are displayed

  I use a Portege R930 with the 2nd lowest brightness. I noticed that when something bright is displayed, the overall screen brightness adjusted upwards by about 5 tiny slices to speed increment of 1 / second.

  Increments of brightness are not nearly as pronounced as the steps in the brightness slider, but it's there. And very annoying.
  I can't find any mention of this 'feature' online. Is it possible to disable it?

  Vari-bright save energy consumption by optimising contrast image on the internal LCD screen AMD computers.

  This feature can be used if the computer is running in battery mode, using the internal LCD only or PowerPlay settings under mode battery is set to maximize autonomy.

  Speed Hi II port replicator supports the RGB port and display port and HDMI port but (display port and HDMI) can not be used simultaneously.

  It supports separate chip graphic.

  It supports a HDMI and a DVI - I ports that can be used simultaneously.

  This support allows to use up to 3 monitors (2 external + 1 internal)

  Each laptop comes with preinstalled operating system also preinstalled recovery media Creator called tool. This tool can be used to create bootable recovery DVD or USB media. This recovery media can be used in case this recovery HARD drive installation procedure no longer works or if the HARD disk fails, as in your case.

  I presume you didn't create this media, right?
  Is that you can order the original recovery image but is not free.

  It has a sticker on the back w / Windows 8 Pro (small sticker without product key).
  He arrived with the installation of Windows 8 CD.
  Now, it has been pre-installed Windows 7 Pro x 64 SP1 (this laptop has the right of use of Windows 8 and Windows 7)

  Laptop Toshiba computers are preinstalled with Windows systems that are already activated.
  The stickers that you will find at the bottom of the units are the serial OEM key and these keys don't work in relation to other different systems. The OEM key belongs to the preinstalled image.

  So in case you would use the Toshiba Recovery disk and install Windows system using this disk, the serial key is not necessary.
