  • CPU limitation with the new power supply

    I have a W510 with 135W POWER supply. Or to be more precise: A 6.75 @ 20V.

    I work at two locations, so I bought a generic 150W PSU with an adapter to mount the Thinkpad. The PSU is labeled 7. 5A @ 20V, so there should be no problems running the laptop.

    Yet, when starting, I get the "this power supply is too low for something something something battery charge" and strangled my i7 at 1.2 GHz, and not the 3.06 there are usually.

    If I boot from the battery and connect the connector of the power supply after Windows is in place, it works at full speed. And to charge the battery very well. Then of course, there is nothing wrong with the juice from the PSU.

    Thus, I suspect that the BIOS does something stupid. Can I override this somehow?

  • G4 MDD power supply Issue

    My MDD was recently stop only two or three minutes after a cold start. The power led lights up, the gray screen with the Apple logo appears with the spinning wheel, but then the machine suddenly loses power as if the power cord was disconnected. These are the things I've already tried:

    1. Removed the PRAM Battery
    2. Disconnected all devices except the keyboard and the monitor
    3. Tried a different power cord

    Start in safe mode did not help. The fans are all running, the red LED lights on the logic board and disk drives seem to work. This could be a power supply issue or a problem with the motherboard and is it possible that I can definitely identify the problem without being able to start the G4? The startup time has been considering more when everything worked last week, would that be a clue?     My power supply died a week ago.  I know because she gave me a code 4 sound.  I followed the troubleshooting instructions, and when it is connected with all the cables disconnected, the fan does not turn.  Thus confirmed dead.

    I got the new power supply today, and I plugged it in with no cable attached.  The fan spun.  Power has confirmed the good.

    However, when I put back in place and turned on, I got the code of four beeps again.  Does this mean that my motherboard is fried?  And if so, where the Board of Directors is the id so I can order another?  I have the dual core intel cpu if that helps at all.  Not the extreme, just the duo.

    After I plugged in a monitor, I doscovered that the computer was in the way of the message and then affected by the thermal shutdown.  Replacement of the entire radiator and fan made me a work computer.

    The problem was a bad video card.  For some reason, nor Council picked up the problem.
