PowerConnect PC8024 - impossible to stack

Hello forum!

I have two 10 GB PC8024 going by running the 5.1.2.3 firmware.   I followed several guides, including the documentation Dell stacking with regard to both switches and I just cannot make it work.

Are there tools/utilities/CLI options that will facilitate the troubleshooting the inaction of stacking here?

I am able to stack these more RJ45 ports?

Thanks for any help.

Only ports SFP + fibre can stack the 8024. There is a white paper specifically for stacking the 80xx which shows this.  It can be found in the section 'Stacking' to 'http://en.community.dell.com/techcenter/networking/w/wiki/2580.networking-whitepapers.aspx.  If you go to page 23, it says that only the SFP + are used to stack, and the pages that follow provide detailed instructions on how to configure it using the CLI interface or the Web interface.

I hope this helps.

    Hello

I have two switches in L3 7048P I want the battery but I'm not sure how it works. The two switches have the same firmware.

1 must. the two have the same configuration running on both to make it work?

    2. in addition, I created a VLAN (3) voice on the first switch with an IP address of 10.0.3.254. I use the same IP address on the second switch in the VLAN 3 addresses or assign another?

    Thank you!

There is a guide especially for stacking switch 7048 on the Dell page networking white papers:

    en.Community.Dell.com/.../2580.Networking-guides.aspx

Just search "Dell PowerConnect 7000 Series Switches stacking".  Page 16 will tell you how to add a new Member to the battery with minimum interruptions. Both can present the same firmware in order to stack.  So the answer to question 1 is no, the configurations do not need correspond to stack them.  Once stacked, both will look like a single switch, and you use only the IP address of the master swtich to the whole stack.  Therefore, treat the two switches as a single switch during Setup.  The guide provides more information on how it works.

    Hope this has been helpful.

  • Stack different PowerConnect models?

    Hello! everyone,

I would be very grateful if someone can let me know if it is possible to stack a PowerConnect 5524 with a 3548, (the 3548 did not have a HDMI port, only for stacking gigabit ports) If Yes please how I do, I already tried to use a converter RJ45 HDMI to connect two switches, but every time I turn on the 5524 , others (g4) on the 3548 breaks down and there is no link between the two switches.

    Thanking you in advance.

No, the PowerConnect 35xx/35xxP switch stack only with another PowerConnect 35xx/35xxP switch.  According to me, that is the same for the 55xx.

  • Stacking question: can I combine a stack of 5548 with a stack of 5524?

Can I combine a set of four switches PowerConnect 5548 with a stack of two switches PowerConnect 5524? I don't know to ensure they are running the same firmware, but I didn't not see the documentation on the size of maximum stack or between models stacking limits.

    Thank you.

Yes, you can stack 6 switches together, any 5500 stack with any other, to a maximum of 8

  • stacking n3048

Hi, I have in my stock 6248 powerconnect, I want to stack if possible with the new template: N3048, is it possible? What cables? modules is necessary for the two models for this particular configuration? Thanks lotan

Just like model switches can be stacked together. So the 6248 must be stacked with any other switch 6200 and the N3000 with another N3000. The switches must also be on the same firmware.

    part numbers 6200.

    3 meter stacking cable = G519F

    1 meter stacking cable = H798F

    Stacking module = UY108

  • Linking to 5524 battery battery N2024

Dell Powerconnect 5524 can be stacked by HDMI and the newer N2024 models can be stacked by dell's exclusive stacking ports. Is it possible to connect these two fireplaces? You can connect through FPS? You can connect them through an OFFSET? What is the best process here?

The 55xx and the N2xxx can be stacked together, except that you can treat both batteries similar to as if they were just a simple switch. Stacking basically makes only one switch, so you'd plug it comes in the same ways that you would connect a single 55xx with a single N2xxx.  If you use a LAG, however, should be split across several members of the battery cable connections.  Thus, for example, if you have a stack with three members and you have a LAG with two cables, use a port to two permanent members so that your GAL covers at least two members.  For the two chimneys creates a network more resistant, so if a member falls down the link will stay up.  In other words, if you use two ports on the same Member of the stack and Member goes down, then you have lost the connection, so it is best to divide the LAG on several members of the battery.

    I hope this helps.

  • direct removal of the battery module

    Hello

We have 2 PowerConnect 6248 which are stacked. We need our cell module for our new configuration but we cannot stop this production environment yet.

It is possible to remove the battery from our switch without affecting its config? The switch will work without any problems and it will simply act as if we remove the backbone cable?

    Thanks for your time

The PowerConnect modules do not hot-insertion support. The stacking cables can be removed and installed without having to switch off the device, but not modules. Here are some links with more information about stacking of 6200 switches.

  • Web management interface of LAN N3000

    sHello,

We have replaced our old 62xx powerconnect with a new stack of switches N3000.  With the earlier material, there is no remote management interface. Thus, we were able to manage the passage of our LAN subnet.

If I put interface OOB in our LAN subnet so I can't send IP to the VLAN. ... .

How to be able to administer our N3000 switch via web gui of our LAN subnet.

I tried to address ip configuration for vlan1 in the hope that I would be able to gui for managing web... .but not...

    Console >Activate

    Console #Configure

    Console (config) #interface vlan 1

    Console #ip 192.168.0.250 address 255.255.255.0

    Can you please help?

Thank you for reading my post.

    Gmiga.

    recently had this problem,

you don't need the OOB port so just set his IP and the gateway to something, that you'll ever need (or just leave no configured completely make sure you it is disconnected/disabled)

what you were doing with the VLAN is correct, simply set the gateway:

    Console > activate

    Console #configurer

    Console (config) #interface vlan 1

    Console (Config-if) #ip address 192.168.0.250 255.255.255.0

    output console #.

    Console (config) #ip - default gateway 192.168.0.1

by setting the default gateway, you should now be able to administer your switch to other subnets

You may have already worked to this point, but it is good to leave it here for others.

  • What is the best way to do a double page spread for a magazine?

I'm trying to put together a magazine and would like to double-page spreads in it, but my printer has asked that the magazine sent him into single pages.  If I have set up as 'pages face to face' and then change of unique pages when I'm done, if this will upset my page layouts double?

Set up as faced with pages, then when you make the pdf DO NOT CLICK SPREADS.

When you click Spreads you ask InDesign to produce a PDF file or page 2 or 3 are joined, and 3-4 are attached etc.

When you have chosen Spreads Indesign product then one Page pdf.

A single page, this is what is required by a printer with the pages running in the reading order of page 1 - finishing (for example).

Do not attempt to impose the document yourself.

Be sure to include your crop marks and your purge.

Sidenote on the crop and bleed marks:

Crop marks are needed to adjust the page size when printing. Printers do not print to the edge of a tarpaulin, as it's almost impossible to cut a sheet of paper to the side of a color - color shall extend beyond the line of culture, it's called bleed.

When you're bleeding of the document, for example, to extend any item that is returned right to the foredge (edges in front of the spinal column), then you need to extend this object off the page in a box of "bleed."

This allows for human error when it is cutting paper, as each leaf is not truncated individually (which take forever!) they are stacked on the other and cut each into piles. It would be impossible to stack all the sheets exactly the same and there is a movement on the press, offsetting so the movement and the fact that they can never be stacked exactly-why you need objects to extend beyond the edge of the page.

Crop marks tell the guillotine operator where to cut the sheet. Once they have the measures in their guillotine machine it is a simple matter of rinse and repeat with as many piles of paper there.

And printers can sometimes bend and cut a brake job, and since it is a machine and you keep mechanical errors and human error, you must bleed too.

Bleeding is important - if you do not add bleed, then, the object stops on the foredge of paper. And if the blade MIC/crops near the object, but the young woman with a Ribbon - then you have a small piece of white on the piece of paper, which is highly undesirable.

If you need crop markers so printers know where exactly to cut paper and cut in the purge so that you don't have any white chips.

And Yes you must crop marks even if you do not bleed, if you have no purging it is likely that the edges of the paper are all white, there is no marks where to cut to the right size you want. Therefore, crop marks appear anything.

And the placement of the crop marks is important. As I said earlier, the crop are to let the guillotine operator know where to cut the page so that it sinks in the background box lost. The background area lost to allow a mechanical, physical, and human error. And saw that the purge can sometimes be included in a final printed piece, it is not desirable to have anything other that bleed objects in the background box lost.

For this reason stagger you your crop outside the substantive area landmarks lost. As I am in Europe I work mainly in millimeters, so I had put my region to purge must be 3-5 mm (check with your printers for what purge you should allow) and I had put my crop marks offset of 1 mm more than the purge (i.e., 4-6mm).

This ensures that the crop marks do not infringe the substantive area lost. If your crop marks do not infringe the lost bottom box, you run the risk of the landmarks of crop on a piece of paper final.

    So in summary

Make sure you have bleed if necessary on your document.

Add the desired amount of purge - in my case 3 to 5 mm.

Offset guides to crop so they do not infringe the substantive area lost - in my case 4 to 6mm.

(purge depends on requirements of printers - make sure that stagger you your crop marks to be outside the substantive area lost).

  • Port Mirroring a LAG on stacked Dell PowerConnect 6248 s

    Hello

It is possible to port mirror use as a source, a SHIFT, consisting of 4 ports (2 in each Member of a set of 6248 s PowerConnect stacked). Whenever I'm trying to add the source, using GUI, I get an error:

Error! There not together "Type" with "Tx and Rx" error occurred in FILTER_MISSING

    This allusion is what filter?

I can't select a spring, unit 1 or unit 2, members of the LAG, like the gui only shows them not from the ports drop.

    Thank you.

Unfortunately, the switch is able to mirror individual ports as source ports. You can check this by trials of establishing a mirror session where the source port is not part of a LAG.

  • PowerConnect 6248 stacking using the front SFP Ports

I am trying to stack two Dell Powerconnect 6248 switches. Currently they are chained together, but I modules fibre for the front sfp ports. Theoretically, I should be able to stack them. But when I try:

    stack 1/g45 #stack - port console (config-battery)

Could not set the front panel stacking mode.

    Any ideas? Thank you!

The PCT6200 requires a stack of modules installed in Bay 1 (XG1 XG2) at the rear of the switch. The stacking module uses CX4/Infiniband type stacking spacers.

Stacking of front port / user is not supported

  • Stacking Module - Dell Powerconnect 6248

Hello. I have a Dell Powerconnect 6248. This used to be a secondary switch in a stacked configuration (total of 2 switches). However, the captain then descended down we unplugged and it became the master of the battery. It is always configured in a configuration of the battery.

My question is this: can I remove the stacking module card when the switch is on and in production?

The reason is that I bought a new 6248 and repaired the old master as well and want to stack these two because they are both on the latest firmware. What is the best practice for this that I don't want to take down the switch by disconnecting the battery module.

Let me know if you need more information!

Thank you very much for any information!

Unfortunately the stackable modules are not hot-swappable. You must turn off the appliance to remove the stacking module.

  • How to change the time that stacks convergence on Dell PowerConnect 8164

I have create a pile between two switches Dell PowerConnect 8164.
But I want to know if I could change the time it takes for converges converges moment between them, I want to say... I have remove all the stacking cables (so no connection between no switches) and connect them then... something between 3-5 minutes for the complete convergence.
    Is there a customization here?
    Kind regards!

There is no option of customization on the re-convergence of a battery.  It is basically kicking a restart of the operating system on the box.

  • stack a 3548 PowerConnect and 3524

    HII
I am setting up a test lab to the office and found 2 switches PowerConnect (a 3524 & a 3548)
I know he can do stack by ports G3/G4, but I can't make it work... hope someone can enlighten me. ~

Here is what I have tried/fact:
Connect the right port 3548 G3 network cable to port 3524 G4. Reloaded units.
Assign address to 3548, connect to the console but under battery management, shows a single unit... Also infront (battery ID) LED does not glow.
Thought I might need to close the loop cumulation? Thus, even tried to connect a cable of 3548 G4 to G3 3524. But also does not work.

    I'm their connection wrongly?

Thank you very much in advance! ~

This is a race to the bottom of the stack of switches.

CAT5e or Cat6 RJ45 cables must be used for the ports of stacking due to the necessary flow for traffic between the battery units. Standard CAT5 can lead to communication errors.

These steps must be done one at a time until all members of the battery are powered and their battery ID are selected. Performing a unit steps at a time will allow enough time to select the ID of the stack for each unit. However, the entire stack must be wired using the stacking ports before feeding devices.

The process of selection of ID unit is as follows:

    1. turn power switch AC power.

Power, the number of LED set (corresponding to the unit ID) previously saved begins to Flash. The LED flashes for 15 seconds. During this period, select a specific ID of the battery by pressing the battery identification button until the ID stack appropriate light.

2 selection process - to advance the ID LED stacking number, continue to press the button for the identification of the battery. 6 LED flashing, press the button cell ID translates the device that is configured as a stand-alone. Press the button battery ID displays the ID of the battery 1. Unit 1 and unit 2 are compatible master units.

    3. end process selection - cabin ID selection process is completed when the flashing period of 15 seconds has transpired. The battery ID button becomes unresponsive and the unit ID is set to the ID of the LED flashes at the end of the period.

  • Satellite P750: Impossible to install the Bluetooth Stack on Windows 7 (x 64) driver

    Hello.

    I own a * Satellite P750-02 t * (part No. * PSAY3A - T 02 001 *).

    In the order I did:

    (1) I formatted the HARD drive and reinstalled the operating system of * Windows 7 x 64 Ultimate SP1 *.

Then I downloaded * ONLY the BIOS and drivers * of [his downloads page | http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/satellite/p750/psay3a-02t001/download?os=25]:

    (2) I've updated the BIOS for * v1.90* (the laptop came with v1.80)

    (3) I have installed all drivers:
    -LAN and WiFi
    -Chipset Intel latest (available)
-all video drivers (NVIDIA Graphics, Intel HD Graphics and Intel HDMI)
    -Card reader
    -Realtek HD Audio (later)
    -Synaptics Touchpad
    -USB3.0
    -IR
    TV tuner
    However, I * cannot install Bluetooth driver (v8.00.06 (T) *)...

When I run the installation program of the [aforementioned page | http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/satellite/p750/psay3a-02t001/download?os=25] it detects partially *'Bluetooth USB Controller-10 TOSHIBA'* (USB\VID_0930 & PID_0215 & REV_001)
and then the installation freezes simply displaying + "install the Bluetooth driver. Please wait +.' and stay like that forever...

    I also tried to download a driver [another location | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/index.php?page=download-toshiba] for laptops TOSHIBA - v8.00.02 (T):
and followed installation instructions displayed under "Details".
but he had the same result: the installer simply crashes...

Install fix (* KB978258 *) recommended it did not work either - the message "+ update is not applicable to your computer +" appears.
And I understand why - this fix is [already included: http://download.microsoft.com/download/E/B/A/EBA55FE2-373A-4351-9346-6D762B79AA69/Updates%20in%20Win7%20and%20WS08R2%20SP1.xls] in Service Pack 1 for MS Windows 7.

I spent hours searching the Internet for a solution. Although there are some similar cases, none of the recommendations actually worked. I tried to install:
    -WiFi driver before installing the Bluetooth (someone suggested that these two are parts of the same card);
    -Repeat Mode Setup without failure;
-* Toshiba value added package * hoping that somehow these tools will kick in.
    Nothing has worked...

It is interesting to note that when, in the interests of experimentation, I tried to run installation for my generic Bluetooth adapter (using the driver [for non-TOSHIBA notebooks | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/index.php?page=download]) then everything runs smoothly!

    * Using connection Bluetooth on this laptop is absolutely crucial for TI
I hope that I won't get back this beautiful laptop as I know that TOSHIBA is one of the best manufacturers and I am sure, that there is a solution to this problem.

    Thank you very much.

You can use the key combination FN + F8 to toggle WLAN?
You can also see BT symbol there?

Before you begin installation battery BT try to activate BT module by using the FN + F8 key combination.

Generally avoid some problem with it. Toshiba BT stack is tested on al models proposed by Toshiba and fireplace installation BT has, in my view, nothing to see what version of Win7 you use.

Do not return this laptop. It has to do is just install drivers, tools and utilities. Please note: BT stack is included in the recovery image so BT must work.

Also, I must say that OS installation of drivers, tools and utilities on Toshiba laptop must / should be installed in the correct order. Many tools can work only and must be installed on basic stuff that can be installed with other specific tools of Toshiba.

Please send a few comments if this FN + F8 will work.
