  I have a HP Desktop F4440 all-in-one printer and I use the Windows XP operating system. I have all the scanning software and others installed from the original HP installation disk or updates from the HP Web site for this printer. Everything works very well at the moment, but there is a small problem.   What has happened to me too, but after a windows update. Half the icons on my desktop have been affected. I hope that this fix works for you as well. Right-click on the icon. Go to properties. Click Change icon. Select the icon and click ok then apply and ok again. If the icon does not appear, you will need to navigate to the folder of the software and select the application.

  Running XP Pro, photosmart Intalled worm 14 software.  Major problems. found a file system Windows corrupted & corrected, but I can't yet scan Solution Center.  Run the scan diagnostic utility HP reports a Twain error.

  The Twain component is not working properly because the product is used by another process.  Without this component, you cannot scan with the HP Solution Center software and some other applications.

  Is the Twain driver this isuse by another process and how to determine what I should do to fix this problem?

  I uninstalled, rubbed & reinstalled the software several times without any change in the results.  What can I do next?

  Good question.  I never got a response.  I would only be able to help.  After having browsed the forum looking for answers, I found one with a reasonable solution.  Piece of HP printer and buy an Epson.

  I bought a new WD Caviar Black 1 TB SATA hard drive because it was not supplied with the computer.

  Once I installed it, I turned on the computer. After the appearance of the logo I get this message 'No Diagnostic Utility Partition identified'. and all I can do is to restart and the same thing again and again.

  Even when I press F12 and I get to choose what I want to start (CD, HD, etc.), the message reappears. (under F12, I see my HD but like I said once that I select it, it gives me this message)

  I solved just exactly the same issue this morning. Do this at your own risk! Have the side of the case so you can easily unplug/plug the sata/output cable according to the needs. OK insert your windows installation cd 7 or thumb drive, make sure that the hard drive is connected and detected in the bios, then boot the pc and press f12 for the boot menu. Once the start menu is in place, disconnect the cable from the sata for HDD (leave the power plugged). Select CD or USB key where you reinstall your system operating, and then press ENTER. When the progress bar is displayed to show his load of the installation of windows, quickly plug the sata cable to return to. You now have bipassed the partition checking and installing windows 7 can see the hard drive. Once you have a working operating system installation, I suggest you update the bios that could stop this never happen. Good luck!!!

• ThinkPad R60 cannot install Windows XP After erasing the HARD drive using the lenovo diagnostic utility

  WinXP pro Setup cannot find that any installed HARD disk so cannot install windows. Unfortunately after many attempts to use rescue and recovery to restore the factory settings and for some reason constantly default... After leaving another utility popped up giving me the opportunity to erase the HARD drive and so I did... After fact as well and all I had was a blank screen, no windows more or no matter what utility to reinstall windows, then I used my winxp pro installation CD, but the program installation would continue not after a certain point by saying that the installation did not find any HARD disk installed. followed by "ensure that any disk HARD r turned on and correctly connected, and that no matter what material associated drive configured correctly, this may involve running a manufacturer provided diagnostic or Setup program. Clearly it took me by surprise. What was supposed to be a cut to white erase and reinstall now me baffled and angry. Formats the HDD of the solution? If so why didn't not the usefulness of lenovo do... If not, what is the problem? Someone help pls

  Welcome to the forum!

  Go into the BIOS (F1 at startup), set the "compatible" SATA mode (NO AHCI), then press F10 to save and exit, and you should be all set.

  I work with Windows 7 the error message I get is unable to communicate with the printer. I've never had a problem with a printer. First night worked incredible, all the software is downloaded on the computer, but then to go print to date it has not worked. REBOOTED EVERYTHING, router wireless, computer and printer. Then reconnect the printer to the router through that says the manual. FINALLY it starts printing, waited about 30-45 min went print again and of course, it did not work.

  I tried to do the audit - States utility I am connected online time computer and printer to the router. From what I understand there is a problem with the printer-computer connection. I bought this specific printer because it is wireless and highly recommended as the brand HP, now I wonder if it was a big mistake.

  I have the same setup as you, HP 5510 connected to BT HomeHub 3.0 and have the same symptoms.  There is a simple solution that has worked for me.  All you have to do is press the "Restart" on the back of your router, wait for it to complete its reboot sequence and for all 3 lights on the fron illuminate in blue.  Following this fixes also a common problem I have with AirPrint where an Apple device cannot find the printer not working do not.  I hope this helps...

  I called HP and they told me they would charge me $40 to help me, when my printer is no longer worth what it is!

  It seems that the printer prints an alignment page everytime yor turn on the printer. This can happen if the alignment process was not completed correctly.

  Your question is a bit too generic. Since you posted this in the printer section you might think a HP Print Diagnostic Utility? If this is the case, currently, the answer is no.  There are some third-party diagnostic impression utilities on the market.  I don't think they are free.

• Troubleshooting printer offline

  Printer offline can be resolved in 2 ways.

  Quick fix: reboot the router, restart the printer & computer

  -printer offline error can happen again if the router has a dynamic IP address (most consumer routers using dynamic IP)

  Permanent solution:

  1. print and evaluate a network configuration page (steps are to hp.com)

  2 make a note of your IP address of the printer from your print network configuration page

  3 assign your product HP one static IP address:

  Open a new Internet browser window, type the IP address of the HP product in the browser address bar and press ENTER. A web page is displayed, indicating the internal settings of the HP product

  Click the network tab, click the Wireless tab, and then click the IPv4 tab (the menu path may be slightly different, depending on your model of HP product. A new settings page.
   
  Set a manual IP address: your router assigns an IP address within a certain range (called the DHCP range). If you know what is the DHCP range, set an IP address in which the last set of numbers is outside this range, but no more than 254. Keep the first three sets of numbers even. If you do not know the DHCP range, select a high enough IP, like 250 (again, for the last series of numbers). For your router's DHCP range, contact your provider of Internet Service (ISP) or wireless router manufacturer. (USE THE ROUTER CHEAT LIST BELOW)
   
  Subnet address: use 255.255.255.0, unless you know that it is different, in which case you must use this number.
   
  Set the gateway address and the first DNS: enter the IP Address of your router (can be found on the Network Setup page or the wireless network test report).
  Note: Leave blank DNS
   
  Click on apply. The screen is not refreshed. If you have changed the IP address of the HP product of what you typed in your Internet browser, you will need to type in the new IP address to access the HP product. If you have not changed the IP address of the HP product, wait 30 seconds after clicking on apply and then click on the button refresh of your browser.
   
  Print another network setup page (or wireless network test report) of the Control Panel on your HP product to verify that the address IP of the product is that you have assigned.
   
  Turn off the wireless router. If the wireless router does not have a power button, unplug the power cord on the router to turn it off.
  To turn it off, press the Power () button on the HP product.
  Turn on the wireless router. If the wireless router does not have a power button, reconnect the power cord to the router to turn it on.
  To restart, press the Power () button on the HP product.
  If you have changed the IP address of your HP product in step 4, then there could be an additional step necessary, depending on your printer model (this step applies only to Windows users):
  Find the HP folder:

  Click Start, click all programs, click HP, click the folder for your HP product and then look for an item called update IP address.
   
  Windows Vista or Windows 7
  Click on the Windows icon click all programs, click HP, click the folder for your HP product and then look for an element called update IP address.
   
   
  If the updated IP address entry is not present, so no additional steps are required.
  If the IP update is present, click it and enter the new IP address that you entered in step 4.
