Printer does not print and I am unable to remove the printer and reinstall

I have a printer HP1400.  It would not print all of a sudden.  Could not delete the point, that it would not print.  Could not remove the printer either.  Tried to delete as an administrator.  Disconnected everything, rebooted etc but no joy.  Is someone able to help me with this.  I run Vista and have never had any problems before.  Thanks in advance
