Printing on Epson connected to an Imac with Airport Express

I have a desktop computer with Vista. I have an Epson C88 + connected to an Imac. I have an Airport Express. The Vista machine sees and connects to the network. I installed the printer and print a test page. I can't print anything other than the test page. I tried to print a Word document and a document of TurboTax. I don't get an error message that just, it fails to print. When I go into the control panel of the printer is identified and has a green check mark. I tried looking for file sharing, printer sharing, etc. and everything seems fine and face it prints a test page is good, but I don't understand why it will print nothing else. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Can I connect my old iMac (with no wifi capabilities) to the internet using the cable to my MacBook?

I have an older iMac (PowerMac 6 bought in 2003) that only connects to the internet via a cable directly to the router. I moved this computer out of the range of the router and you want to connect to the internet again. I also have a MacBook (late 2009), which has Wifi capabilities. Is it possible to connect the old iMac to the internet via the MacBook?

Yes, this should be doable. On the MacBook, go to the system Pref > sharing > turn on internet sharing via the Ethernet port.

  • Problem of AirPort Extreme with AirPort Express network expansion

I have a dual-band Airport Extreme 802.11n that I bought in 2012 which is currently my home wireless network. I am trying to extend the network with a new AirPort Express with the AirPort 6.3.6 utility running OS 10.11 on an iMac. The Airport Express appears in the option other Wi - Fi devices. When I select it, AirPort utility tries to connect and then I get this message "an unexpected error has occurred. Try again. "Try again does not lead to a different result, and I can't seem to find useful information in the documents support or conversations. Any suggestions? Thank you!

It should be easy enough to operate the express, but you must tell us all the info.

Configure the Express in the same room as the extreme.

Using wireless to expand? Then you simply plug power in the Express... and it should pretty much automatically connect to the extreme.

If you want to extend through ethernet, you should connect the Express in the extreme and make sure that the configuration of the airport utility selects extend by wire.

If the Mac does not work you have the iphone or ipad and use Airport utility for iOS... it tends to be more reliable.

Still no luck does your Mac have port ethernet... in this case, you can plug it into the computer with ethernet and try again... more wireless implementation looks like sawing off the branch to that which you are sitting.

  • How do you connect a (very) old Apple Airport Express to a new Airport Extreme network?

    For Bob Timmons:

I have 2 old airport expresses, an old and one even older. The network home fled the old Express (connected to a modem), who abandons the connection several times a week. The older Express seems quite dead. What I want to do is to increase wifi coverage in my house (no wifi in the kitchen or the 3rd floor). I buy an Airport Extreme to manage the network, hoping that it would provide wireless coverage in my blind spots. Then I could use the former, Express work next to my stereo to listen to the music of my iMac.

However: the new airport utility shows but does not interact with my work Express. If I buy one extreme and put in place, how I can add the Express network. I downloaded 5.6.1 (and launcher) Airport utility, but don't know if I can use 6.3.6 to implement extreme and 5.6.1 Configure Express.

Any thoughts on this would be welcome.

Sorry, I forgot to ask: even if the Airport 6.3.6 utility on the iMac refuses to 'see' the Express, would be the iPad method you mentioned work with an older Express?

The model numbers of my expressed are:

    work: A1084

    a death: A1264

Well, if A1264 is dead, it is the end of the discussion on this model.

A1084... assuming it works... could probably be used for AirPlay, but the A1084 calls this AirTunes.

The A1084 is at least 9 years old, probably older and the average useful life of an AirPort Express is about 3-4 years. It is amazing the A1084 to work at all, but school drop-outs you see now with the Express indicates that it is heading for the South, he may not be around much longer.

If you want to try using the A1084 Express, it can be implemented and administered using an older version of AirPort 5.x on a Mac or a PC utility. No matter which version of AirPort 6.x...or.. utility. AirPort on an iPhone or iPad utility may NOT be compatible with the A1084 Express.

If you are considering a new AirPort Extreme... and... or buy at Apple, so you have one day 14 return privilege on the product, if it will not do what you want, you can return it for credit or a return.  The older A1084 expected to collaborate with the new AirPort Extreme if you spot a version 5.x of AirPort on a Mac or a PC utility to configure the product.  But... saying "should work" is not the same thing as saying "work"... then it will be one of those moments where you won't know how well... or even if it will work until you try.

  • Wireless shared time Machine backup with Airport Express?

    Hi all

I looked around lately for a solution to this issue and who struggle to get by.

I'm a musician, and at home, I have an iMac that I work on. Everything is there, basically. I have a Time Machine backup to an external drive.

I also have my old MacBook that I use to play concerts. I have what I need for it there: especially Max/MSP patches, odd live recording and a few samples. I don't have a backup of it right now. Max patches are the only files not on my iMac.

So far, all the files I need for two computers, I have sync with DropBox and OneDrive. I'm getting a little tired of copy things more, re-upload, forgetting where something is and having things scattered everywhere. Ideally I'd like a shared folder of a certain type that is always up-to-date on both computers. This folder will contain Max patches, live recordings and the weird thing I do away from home.

I would also be able to save more flexible:

    • the iMac backup
    • Backup of MacBook Pro
    • Shared folder backup

I've been looking around a bit and I'm not sure how best to do so. A kind of home server would be an option? I have not used one drop/airport/Time Capsule of Apple stuff before, so I'm not sure how they differ from each other.

I like Time Machine, because I can't think to save things. If I could have three backups separated like the ones I mentioned (for the security and because my brain can deal with it better if it is presented that way), that upward with Time Machine or something similar, to some central place automatically.

I looked at the airport in Time Capsule and it looks great, but I can't afford it right now. I also saw contradictory information on AirPort Express can be plugged into an external drive for backup, so if Time Machine can be used with wireless at all.

I hope that what I am asking is logical. I would like the simplest solution to back up two computers and have a shared location for the common files needed on both.

    Thank you!

    Phil.

An option here would be to get a device connected to the network (SIN). This unit can store all the required files and be accessible to one of your computers on your home network. A number of these devices is also available remotely, when necessary. Here is an example.

To the extent not "have to think about backup things', Time Machine (TM) would be a solution that is easily available to you now. It would create separate for each Mac backups. In addition to using an external hard drive as you do now, other TM backup destinations could be:

    • A time Capsule
    • A 802.11ac AirPort Extreme with a connected USB hard drive. In this configuration, Apple calls the drive and the drive from the airport.
    • A NAS

In the last item in the list, you see that a NAS could offer solutions for each of your goals. However, if you are on a tight budget, likely the most expensive company to undertake, as the physical drive of NAS enclosure can run around $400-600 only, without any installed readers. This is where the time Capsule can work out cheaper for you.

  • Mini TiVo with airport express

My question is about the tivo, the Airport express and the extreme of the AC.  have the romaio standard tivo in my room and the mini in the other room about 25 feet, with thick walls about 7 feet.  the mini is to cut the audio and the video of course.  If the research online, wanting to know the best solution.  If the connections are such:

    1st room:

Extremes of AP connected to the modem

romaio connected by ethernet to AP extreme

    2nd room:

AP express connected by ethernet to tivo mini

Deck AP express under the name "extended" to the extreme

bridge over the 2.4 ghz network

so the question is whether to 'extend' or 'join' the network?

or the other bridge then on the 2.4 ghz or 5 GHz?

all the details, let me know

    There is no significant difference.

so the question is whether to 'extend' or 'join' the network?

or the other bridge then on the 2.4 ghz or 5 GHz?

The question is fair level of signal and bandwidth.

It is difficult to get the numbers now, as the utility v6 airport is no longer a toy only utility is to say a tool. As the use of a hammer plastic actually hammer in nails.

Try to get the speed of connection... in v6, you roll your pointer over the connection. As thus.

I have two gen5 connected AE as extend wireless... It did not work with long connection so I moved to the extreme a few feet from the other device. They are now about 4' apart.

The connection now shows 195 MB/s, but you need to playback during the actual file transfer. It will go down considerably the work.

If you can get a machine more old computer or windows and install the utility 5.6 you will get much more information.

Links are not the same from one end to... Although here, it works fine. As I had before that connection showed ok one end but much poorer on the other... This info is now impossible to obtain in utility v6.

25 ft away, with thick walls about 7 feet.

I'm sure that the walls are 7 thick inches rather than 7feet.

But everything depends on the construction and the number of walls.

Light framing lumber and Sheetrock (rockboard?) have fairly low resistance wireless.

Brick or concrete walls have a lot of resistance wireless... you must use ethernet or adapters EOP.

  • Are there 2 seconds audio delay with Apple TV as with Airport express

Audio reading of the Mac to stereo via Airport express has 2 second delay. If I replace the airport express to Apple TV and connect optical to HiFi audio link ATV still do 2 seconds?

    Welcome to the Apple community.

I have no such delay when I play audio via an Airport Express station. You must determine if the problem is with your network or device that you have connected to the AirPort Express Terminal. I don't know what other hardware you have for you for you help in this task.

  • How to configure a printer without wire of Canon (MG4150) to the Airport Express

In my living room, I have a cable modem that is configured in Bridge mode. On the first floor in a room, I installed an Airport Express station. Everything works well except my printer Canon (MG4150) does not work. What is the solution for my problem?

This Canon printer supports wireless connectivity, should just be configured to connect to the wireless network provided by the AirPort Express. Is not the way you currently put in place?

  • Can I connect a switch to my Airport Express 1st gen?

    Hi Experts,

I was wondering if I'll be able to connect a switch 8 ports to the ethernet port on my AirPort Express?

My current setup is the D-Link router/Modem > airport Time Capsule <> AirPort Express

So I've matched the AirPort Express to the Capsule to expand my network.

FYI: AirPort Express is 1st Gen model.

    Thank you.

    Tony

If you really have a 1st version of the AirPort Express Gen (see note below *)... and you have configured to connect to the time Capsule using Wireless 'add a wireless network', then the Ethernet port is active and you can connect a switch to the Express.

Don't forget that the Ethernet on the Express port is only 100 Mbit/s capable, so even if you could have a 1 000 Mbps or Gigabit switch, the speed will never be higher than 100 Mbit / s.

    * A 1st Gen Express is A1264 model number. Look on the side of the Express to locate the model number. Hard to see, with grey lettering on white background.

  • is connectable peripheral wps to the Airport express

I have a wps camera and a media player that is connected to my network. I want to buy the Airport express just because airplay. can I connect my wps to airport express devices?

Yes, you can, assuming that the AirPort Express is set up to create a wireless network. This means that it must connect to your router wirelessly existing using wired Ethernet fixed, permanent and be configured to use the same wireless network name and password as your 'main' network
