  I just bought the blackberry 8800 to my friend and I have a few problems. There is no icon or any feature that allows me to text or reply to a received text. I don't understand why not. I have a project to send SMS messages, but there is no icon saying don't compose text or the answer. Also my locks phone on me in a minute and have to enter the password again and again. There is no way to change the length or disable the password. Is it because I need to update the software and if so, what software do I need?

  It looks like to of the LED high output intensity. It could very well be a battery problem, but if the problem persists with the connected device or with a different battery, it's most likely a bad flash led or an electrical problem on the motherboard.

  Your device is used.  Your description of the boot sequence indicates that it is a Vodafone branded device.  This Vodafone startup screen can never be changed.  As long as the device is unlocked, you can use it on your support.

  In addition, you must have a BlackBerry data plan to your account with your wireless service provider.  It is probably what you were told the camera.

  That said, you can probably learn the operating system to v7.1 by performing a clean OS reload.  Here are some instructions:

  1. first download the operating system on your PC.  You can get 7.1 for the brand Vodafone UK 9790 here (though the version of all carrier will work.):

  On Windows Vista/7, go to C:\Users\YOUR_USER\AppData\Roaming\Research in XML Motion\BlackBerry\Loader (where 'YOUR_USER' is your user name)

  On Windows XP, go to C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER\Application is In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML (where 'YOUR_USER' is your user name)

  5 use BBSAK from BBSAK.org and wipe the device (after doing a full backup), then after you get the 507 error (no OS installed) then go to the next step.
