  Try to create a separate initialization block connection pool. Then check if the connection pool is available in the initialization block.

  I use OBIEE11.6, then I put a block of session initialization to the RPD, and this block comes from a pool of connections "" My_DB".

  When the consistency check it warning as follow:
  
  Initialization block 'Authorization' uses the Pool of connections "" My_DB".
  'My_CP' ' which is used to report queries. This can impact the performance of queries.
  
  
  but there is no table under the "My_CP" connection pool, so I don't know why they say it is used to report queries? and how to remove the warning?

  Hi Leo,

  Generally, when there is a single connection pool for a database in the physical layer, the BI server includes this is the single pool of connections for queries (I don't think that really, it checks if there is underlying tables. I think it's because there is a way to add tables to a database by right-clicking on the connection pool and choosing import metadata.).

  As a good practice, when you block init pointing to a specific database, please make sure that you create another pool of connections for use in init blocks. This would ensure that report queries and init blocks do not go on a single pool.

  So, for your case, create a second pool of connections and point your blocks to the second init. Yes, you cannot point to the first because it is bit reserved by BI server for reports. (Unless you change it in the Options menu of .rpd)

• Problem creating block

  Hi Experts,
  Here, everyone should be aware on the problem of creating block in Essbase in the blocks for scattered members are not created when we try to set a value that is not constant. But when I'm trying to reproduce this problem, I cannot not replicate and blocks created for me.
  I even checked the setting of CREATEBLOCKONEQ at the level of database as well as in ESSBASE.cfg file is DISABLED.
  
  I use the Demo.Basic application with a slight modification where I added the dimension of the year containing FY10 and FY11.
  
  The dimensions are:
  Accounts - Dense
  Period - Dense
  Market - sparse
  Product - sparse
  Year - sparse
  Scenario - sparse
  
  Now, I have data loaded New_York-> FY10-> sale-> Budget to 5 products and all periods. Database statistics show me even 5 blocks.
  
  Now, I try to run the following script to calc to replicate the problem of creation of block
  
  CREATEBLOCKONEQ OFF SET;
  Fix ("budget")
  "Denver" = "New_York" * 1.5;
  ENDFIX;
  
  But I'm able to have created new blocks and the number of blocks celebrates 10 years.
  
  Is someone can please help me replicate the "issue of creating block"?

  In Essbase 9.3.1 also, I think that your code is good in creating blocks for the Member of the formula "Wyoming".
  Creating block problem arises in a complex real world scenarios. See a sample as below
  CREATEBLOCKONEQ OFF SET;
  Fix ("budget")
  "Wyoming" = "New York" + 300;
  ENDFIX

  Member of the formula here Wyoming supposed to sum up the New York and 300.
  This works if New York has block and not if not.
  But the result is 300 if not.

  I hope that this problem is still there in 11.1.2.1 also. I've known some discrepancies in the formula still fixed with CREATEBLOCKONEQ ON calcs.

  Top-Down is not the default behavior. But Essbase will select Top Down calc whenever he needs to get the blocks needed for the calculation.

  In addition to this Gabin says (initialization) to your first question, I assume that you have some idea of 'dynamic variable repository' a little bit.

  A dynamic variable repository is not as dynamic as you imagine. The main feature compared to a static is that the value of the variable comes from a SQL instead of being entered manually in the administration tool.

  SQL is a type of static query and not refresh when you call the variable and want to use it, but it is filled only once or maximum according to the calendar. For example, you use this query to store values as the period under review (and you have a query that retrieves the period max responsible for your data once per hour or something like that).

  Even a session variable will not really what you expect or at least not exactly how you think that it: initialize the variable when you call it works only once if you check the box "performance" you just to delay the execution of the query until you access it for the first time , but at this point, it is defined and it will not refresh until you do not close the session to begin a new.

  So for what you are trying to do, I suggest you find another way because it really does work.

  This means that the folder you want to create is blocked because of file permissions. The drive or folder you are trying to create the destination folder is set to read-only, and your username does not have write permissions.

  The connection id is stored in the system USER session variable. You can use it to insert into the database in the initialization block.

  Here are the details of what I have set up as:
  
  Physical layer:
  Table DIM_ORG with the dimension columns:

  Dimension table DIM_DEPT with columns:

  -sum_sales
  
  Physical joins:
  FACT_SALES.fk_org = DIM_ORG_dimension_key

  Business model and the mapping of layer:
  I created a logical dimension ORG_DEPT. It contains two sources of logic table (DIM_ORG & DIM_DEPT) and the following logical columns:
  -All departments (mapped to dept_total_code)
  -Organization (mapped to org_detail_description)
  -Organisation number (mapped to org_detail_code)
  -Department (mapped to dept_detail_description)
  -Department Code (mapped to dept_detail_code)
  The logical key of the company is based on the combination of number of organization & Department Code
  
  The hierarchy, I need is: all departments-> organization-> Department so I created the following hierarchy for ORG_DEPT:
  -Total level containing: all departments

  / Department detail level containing: Department (defined as logical level key) Code and the Department (defined as key level drill).
  
  In the LTS of the ORG_DEPT dimension, I've set levels of content for sources:
  DIM_ORG: Level of organization
  DIM_DEPT: Level of detail Department
  The LTS non - joins inner - came against the associated physical tables.
  
  I created a logical fact table (based on the physical fact table) SALES and joined him on the ORG_DEPT logical dimension table.
  In the LTS, level of content for ORG_DEPT is part of the level of retail service. Non - joins inner were aded against related physical tables.
  
  When I create a report in response to test the hierarchy and select only "all departments' I get the value of the returned correct size. When I try to break through to the next level, I get the following ODBC error:
  "Could not find coverage source logical table for logical columns: [all of them]." "Please check more detailed level keys are correctly mapped.
  
  When I create a report in responses and select "Every department" and "Sales", I get the correct result. When I try to break through to the next level, I get a different ODBC error:
  "Lack of join between the logical tables DIM_DEPT and DIM_DEPT: there must be at least a physical link to join between the underlying physical tables.

  You have no relationship defined between the Department and org.

  You can either:
  a. create a table of physical dimension with a composite key of org_id & dept_id if there is a relationship defined somewhere, then to obiee model as you have already done, but in the physical layer on the composite key join
  b. model your exisitng as two-dimensional and two hierarchies tables and set up a path of forest favorite between them according to your needs.
