  exactly the same thing happened to me today and it's how I managed to fix it:

  1. I downloaded four Windows drivers as described here (tthere first of all one of the links is not active more so I downloaded this driver in its current version of support.lenovo.com - Lenovo Power Management Driver for Windows 8).

  2. I installed all the drivers on my Windows 8 (I have dual boot - Win 8 and Ubuntu).

  3. after restarting the computer and reboot back to Windows, I pressed F9 to enter parameters related to a Wi - Fi (you may have to press Fn + F9, depending on your settings). After pressing this button, a small window with the parameters related to a Wi - Fi should appear in the middle of the screen (as far as I know, this special window appears only with the version of Windows 7 these drivers, so it is necessary to uninstall and reinstall versions of Windows 8 drivers in my case). In this little window, I disabled the plane and WiFi mode on.

  4. after step 3, it seems that nothing has changed, but just after the restart of Ubuntu, the Wi - Fi was on and working.

  I think a similar solution might work in your case also, just install Win 7 or 8 Win and try it.

  Got a new E330 and I'm supposed to use Windows and linux for the University distribution, I tried installing fedora on my Thikpad 19. After having downloaded the .iso image file and install, everything has worked, except the wireless lan. I can't turn it on, and I can't find the drivers for a linux distribution.
  Well, after a few hours I just wanted to return to 8.1 windows and the boot manager didn't work. My friends helped me and after some google search we have disabled the UEFI and I could start W8. Knit the two, but the problem with the wifi is still there.

  I have the new E330 Edge with 16 GB SSD card. So it's ready for the quick start of intel. Problem is that I'm not sure that it works. That's what I have / did (according to the tutorials in other forums):

  1. enabled in the BIOS

  4. disabled the hibernation (powercfg /Hibernate)

  This option must be set (and by default is not) and it works. wake up its hybrid sleep (i.e., controlled by quick ignition hibernating intel) takes about 10 seconds in which nothing happens (no progress bar like Hibernate Windows) which is a bit confusing, but at the end of the day, all is well and is certainly more rapid then wake of windows built in hibernation, even with an SSD. BTW, I have 16 GB of ram in the thinkpad edge, people having 8 or even 4 GB, it can be faster.

• XW6400 problem two processors with four cores

  I have a XW6400 who I am rebuilding as a gift for a friend. The thing is brand new and never been used.

  My problem... First record:

  Dual Xeon 5130

  8Gb Ram 2RX8

  Asus GT740 1 GB graphics card

  PCI-e USB card 3

  StarTech Sata III PCI - e card (ready for SSD)

  Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit

  BIOS 2.38

  1 TB WD Caviar Black HARD drive

  I managed to get their hands on two Xeon 5410 but after their installation, all that I get out the monitor is... "Power save mode, press any key or move the mouse"... neither of which has no effect.

  However, when I put the 5130's back in, it fires quite happy.

  I have built a certain PC in the past (including another XW6400) but this problem is quite a head scratcher.

  Rob,

  Don't scratch no more.  You try to load a Xeon Quad Core for a xw6600 in a xw6400.  In theory, you might think that it will work.  It will not... the only processors Attaché who work are listed in the QuickSpecs for the xw6400,.  It has to do with the "section of the BIOS firmware, which includes a white list of specific processors that are allowed.  The quad core Xeon desired is E5345, last sSpec code (SLAEJ), on eBay.  Buy one and if we're going to work, then you can add a second.  I have a 'well known' an in my stash, but practically all I bought used off eBay work very well.

  There are about 10% of the mothers xw6400 who cannot run this processor, and in this case, I have two of the fastest dual core Xeon running in the list, the E5160, last sSpec code (SLAG9).

  I would recommend running the Intel X 25 - M 160 GB or 320 series 160 or 300 GB, used off eBay.  Run firstly through DBAN, then long NTFS format.  Use W7Pro 64-bit or Ultimate 64-bit and load properly with the little ones and the primary partitions.  These particular Intel SSDS are very fast, corresponds to plug SATAII chipset and use the latest version of the Intel Toolbox.  Your WD is a nice document reader.

  You can run the card USB3 of TI of HP, I posted here and a great way to get an output of 2 x 2 (two ports on the back, two in the front) is detailed.  The xw6600 allows you to get the full speed of the slot machine video PCIe x 16 second for USB3, but the xw6400 limits you to 1/2 full speed because of its use of the PCIe gen 1 rather than gen 2 slots for this card.

  I would stick as much as possible with the help of what is on the motherboard, rather than load a bunch of useless cards to get things running and stabilized.  You need not of USB3 and SATA gen III for your friend to have a solid rock and great user experience.

  Very nice of you to help your friend.  This new xw6400 has always good life in it, especially if you can do two processor E5345 SLAEJ.  Or, two of the E5160s.

  Favorite good cheap used video card: Quadro FX1800, any OEM and the HP firmware update on this subject.

  First: no, this isn't a problem. I mean if you need preformance then the CPU will automatically until it s normal speed.

  With regard to the 1800 - 700 Mhz: I think the chipset made by himself. Maybe it s a powersaving feature internal. Weird is that the CPU does not work on top speed even if it s on fixed speed cameras. Usually it's REALLY NO problem since the machine is at your service with the speed you require.

  I think that it s more a subjective issue that is your point of view, which is certainly understandable because worried you´re. But I think you should live from your machine is not defective and works perfectly. (It would be another thing if the machine would crash constantly or if you have some bluescreens or another..)

• Problem assigning vShield edge licenses

  We have a cluster running vCenter 5.1 standard with 3 hosts ESXi 4.1 under license with vSphere 4 Enterprise Plus keys. Recently, I've deployed a vCloud Director 5.1 with a Manager Server 5.1.2 Server vShield. I was able to successfully add the vCenter vCloud and vShield Manager. Then when I try to add our license of vShield edge in vCenter as the installation guide document, I can't find the CIS or POSSIBLE asset in vCenter section "permit". Is it because we lack of vSphere 4 license?

  

  The problem is now resolved. Recently, we are improving our vCenter 4.1 to 5.1. The appliance Manager vShield was installed before the upgrade. After the upgrade, I didn't perform a reboot of the vCenter server. Once I restarted the server vCenter, he was able to found the vShield active Edge of the appliance Manager vShield.

  It is probably the fact that you are running Windows Vista, which is causing your current difficulties.  You can refer to the minimum requirements for animate dashboard at http://html.adobe.com/edge/animate/tech-specs.html.  Only Windows 7 and Windows 8 are listed as being supported.  I would recommend first upgrading to one of these operating systems and see if your problems persist.

  I bought the E330 for a friend a few weeks ago. The short summary is:

  -hinge quality is better on the E330.
  -Quality of construction other than the hinge is the same as the E320
  -Display quality is average, not much changed since the E320.
  -The noise of the fan is OK, but there are momentarily carried away sound when the fan increases speed without reason.
  -In normal use (i.e. surfing the web, watching movies or Office work), the drive noise is stronger then the fan.

  However, if you insist on the CPU or GPU, then the noise of the fan would get stronger and more audible.

  IM new here and just installed ESXi 4.0 (latest one) on a 490 dell precision. So far, it has 2 GB of ram ecc, but I have another 2 GB on the way. Its got a 3.0ghz xeon dual-core processor with ht technology so it appears as 4 processors. Esxi installation went smooth and I've added a virtual machine in and begain to install Server 2008 r2.  To get to the point, it takes forever to install Server 2008 r2. I have no idea why. I'm looking for in table performance and its only operating at 20%. Why can't he just use more processor? or am I missing a setting?

  Before, I tried to install Server 2008 r2 just to see how fast it would install right hard disk (no esxi) and it took about 10 minutes to start cd to type the password for the first time. very fast.

  Repeat the installation with a single vCPU assigned to the virtual machine and see what happens. Chances are you see some argument for resources by having all your Physics (and the HT "nuclei") assigned to the virtual machine.

  You can check the values of CPU ready to give you a good idea if you may be suffering from a CPU contention. On ESXi, this can be done using resxtop (part of the vSphere CLI), or changing the graphics options of the particular graphic performance for this virtual machine.

  Dall' error seems to che non siano stati nel BIOS abilitati XD o VT.

  Occhio che a volte server owner riavviare it server fisico in cold terms (sui Dell basta UN riavvio, my su altri non mi ricordo).

  PS: hai, tried a a partire da a vuoto con EVC cluster e postarci an ESX Server in maintenance mode?
