Problem on HP Pavilion 770 C

I recently had a Pavilion 770C XP Home SP2 from friend of my grandmother. He said that he had got a new computer that he no longer had a use for this an and that he had "removed" some useless programs/files (and by removing I mean simply send files/folders-program icon to the trash and remove tray). For this reason, many programs still installed on the computer can not be deleted and that there are "problems" with it. What I've done so far, is to uninstall SP2, which returned the PC to the basic edition. This permit to solve a big problem with the computer that I've met and helped the PC run faster.

Recently, I've updated it to SP1a (as it is called now) because he had given me the recovery HP QuickRestore system for Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP1 CD. My idea was to use these CD to format the PC to its factory setting, but he (me) seems to be two problems:

1. when the computer begins to boot the first disk (starting the computer and pressing the ESC key on the HP logo) this message appears at the command prompt: CDR104: door open reader q. quit, retry, Fail

2. that these discs are not necessarily compatible with your desktop (I'm starting to believe that these discs are used for a laptop running XP and not a desktop computer).

I have not found anything close to help me solve this problem. In addition, the pc itself is usabe still - in fact I use it now to create this post. It's just that, because of the badly removed programs and program files, I am unable to uninstall them and free up disk space for the programs I use for school, and that the computer has a tendency to sometimes freeze. I know I might also be able to fix this by reinstalling Windows XP, but this option is not possible for me right now (no money to buy it and don't know anyone who can find their disc of BONE). Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to see if the other discs were doing the same thing? It might help to try another CD.

    1. open this Pc or workstation then go to uninstall or change a program

    I have a huge problem with the WinDVD for Toshiba that comes with Qosmio X 770 - 11b for playback of Blu - Ray discs!

    I installed WinDVD and when I ran the first time, he said that I should update the keys to AAFC.
    After downloadnig and installing "keypack' from the homepage of Corel, WinDVD closed itself and after it runs again, it says that I must update some modules.

    When I click on the link, the site says that there is no update available and I have to send a message to customer service.

    The problem is that I need to get in touch with them, the serial number of my product to save it.
    The number must be found on 'About' in the program.
    But when I look, I can only find the product number.

    I also tried to download the update of the Toshiba home page, but it says that I can't run this update with my version of WinDVD.

    Please help me, I have no idea of what I can try!

  • WiFi on/off button and indicator acute/severe problems in HP Pavilion dv8t-1000 CTO

    I bought a HP Pavilion dv8t-1000 CTO in December.  Within a month, a hard drive has failed and another was provided under the guarantee.

    But now there are new problems. First of all, the Treble/Bass indicator keeps popping up without reason and the bar keeps increase or decrease. Then there is the problem of Wifi. It seems that my Wifi continues to go without reason. I thought that the two issues were linked. But I'm beginning to see that my Wifi turned off only when the laptop is moved. Just the slightest movement will come out, BUT it happens every time the laptop is moved.

    I also noticed that when these problems are occurring, the 'secret' or the Wifi icon on the media smart bar (above the keyboard) will not match the icons on the screen. Twice the mute icon was red in the smart media bar, but the volume was on. Sometimes the Wifi went nuts and off, because of traffic and then the Wifi light turned back to blue on the media smart bar, but wifi is always off.

    Once both the 'secret' and wifi in the smart bar icons does not match what it says on the screen. WiFi is turned off, but the icon was blue. The speakers were on, but the silent icon was red. I activated the wifi back and the mute icon on the awesome bar, went from red to white.

    I am Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit slot.

    Any thoughts? Ideas? I really need to fix this problem because the Wifi problem that happens at least 20 times a day.

    Randomly, it begins to freeze as hell... Every thing except the cursor stops responding for a while... happening a lot... when I tried to do a hard drive check via diagnosis hp it says SMART PTE past and short failed... I googled on this topic and founded was a hard disk problem... When checked my score with the operating system for the error, it says that errors were found and asked me to restart and I did... repair done disk check and repair twice until the 58 percent and United Nations restarted twice assumed the... It is now to repair disc error...

    I understand that you had a problem with your computer laptop freeze.  You have run the hard drive test and the CHIP spent and not short of special and differential treatment...

    This means that your hard drive is faulty and will need to be replaced.

    Test a hard drive from BIOS

    If you can start Windows after repair I recommend to backup your personal files to prevent loss of data.

    Alternatively, you can try to get into safe mode to save your data.

    First, Download the following driver for Nvidia MCP67M (Please confirm if this is correct) listed for Vista from here:

    To check that the video card is on your system, go Start type of search to tab dxdiag and press on Enter. A window will appear. Confirm with YES if any message and click on the display tab located at the top left near tab System . You should see the name of your video card and the manufacturer.

    Second, go to Panel > programs and features and see in the list if the Nvidia driver is listed. Uninstall the Nvidia driver and restart the PC. If not, then go to Panel > system > Device Manager (left toward the top corner) > double click on adapters.

    You should see the video card. Click with the right click on the Nvidia video card and select Uninstall. Click OK to uninstall.

    If a message appears and asks if you want to remove the driver files, Select the check box , and then click OK. Restart the computer.

    Third, run the driver downloaded earlier and follow the instructions. Is required to restart the system if the installation program does not work.

Devices were prepared for (placed in discovery mode) installation according to the instructions of the device.     Until a few days ago, this PC worked fine without any problems, but now, it's another story.

    It intermittently does not start, even if this becomes more common and more frustrating. Sometimes I can get it to go by typing either Esc, F8 etc., sometimes it goes its own and sometimes it does not at all for several attempts. At one point, we got a BSOD, but the code does not identify anything specific and I can't find where I wrote it down, will have another look, but again once he didn't come back either.

    Where should I go from here?

    So, I recently bought a HP Pavilion 15 n209TX about 15 days ago. He runs the 64-bit version Windows 8.1.

    The problem I encounter is that I can't connect to wifi at long distance... it disconnects after I go beyond around 7-8 meters.

    The beach is within the reach of my card, but it can not connect. ;/ quite strange.

    Last year, face the problem in wifi connectivity infact from the day I bought this HP Pavilion G6 with Radeon APU AMD a4 - 4300M, processor with OS 8.1, BIOS WS F 27 - 04/12/2012 and adapter Ralink RT3290 802.11 wifi bgn.

    However, I was using LAN for a few days. now, I've changed and here I have to depend only on WIFI but it connects, if its connect also who will not stay longer and the signal is low compared to other laptops of the brand of my friends.

    So pl help me solve this problem... am frustrated and my lappy is old a year so cant' even replace or modify.

    As the network test came up with an error message on the "renewal of your IP connection", I recommend that you follow the steps below:

    I would like to clear your DNS. You can do so by following the steps I outlined below:

    Step 1. Click the Start button
    Step 2. In the search box, type "Command Prompt"
    Step 3. Right click on command prompt

    Step 4. Click on run as administrator
    Step 5. At the command prompt, type "ipconfig/release" and press enter

    Step 6. Type the command "ipconfig / renew".

    At this successful? If this isn't the case, I would like you to reset the TCP/IP stack. To do this follow the next series of steps that I have set out below:

    Step 1. Click the Start button
    Step 2. In the search box, type "Command Prompt"
    Step 3. Right click on command prompt

    Step 4. Click on run as administrator
    Step 5. Type "netsh winsock reset catalog" and press ENTER.
    Step 6. Type 'netsh int ip reset reset.log' and press ENTER.
    Step 7. Restart your computer

    Then, if none of the above works I would that try you to Update Windows Installer in Windows 8. I recommend that ensure you that all updates are completed.

    Try the following.

    Open windows control panel, open Windows Update, select "View update history" in the left pane and then select "Installed updates" link in the next window.

    Locate the KB2962407 update, right click and choose uninstall.  Once completed, restart the computer, open windows control panel, open Windows Update and select "Check for updates".  You will see the update that you have uninstalled just offered once again - right click and select "Hide update".
