Problem w/port serial in Windows 98

So I have Windows XP installed on a Dell Latitidue D610.  I have VMware Workstation 7 installed with installation of VM for Windows 98.  This was done in order to run some legacy software.  This software connects to devices via the serial port to receive data and send commands.  When you try to use this software however the report of the virtual machine is not responding... no error or anything.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank you!

who is Bueller?

hope you to edge-ports series and not an addon PCI card?

  • Having problems with ports USB 3.0 in computer option H8 - 1010 T

Well, I bought the option USB 3.0 ports on top of the computer on the computer mentioned in the Thread object and I have problems with them.

I tried plugging USB 2.0 devices in these two ports to "test" to see if they work, yet I am not able to get them to work with USB 2.0 devices. USB 2.0 is not compatible with USB 3.0 ports? Or I'm doing something other 'evil' here?

Unfortunately, I do not have a USB 3.0 device to plug USB 3.0 ports to make sure that it is certainly a problem with ports still.

The device in question I've tried in the USB 3.0 ports is a Microsoft Wireless Mouse 6000 wireless receiver. If the ports are not connected correctly, I would have assumed that the wireless receiver would have "blown" when I plugged it in, but it still works very well.

USB 2.0 devices are not compatible with USB 3.0 ports? I know that USB 3.0 devices are backward compatible with USB 2.0 ports (I have a friend who is in this situation), but I also thought that the opposite was supposed to be true as well. Am I wrong?

    Hello!

For the life of me I can't figure out how to get my machine to boot successfully. Nothing changes when I choose Safe Mode, last known good Configuration, enable VGA Mode, booting, Directory Services Restore Mode or Debug Mode logging.

It's very stressful, because I'm right smack dab in the Middle a semester at the College. I have most of what I currently need access to supported illuminates... but not quite all :( It is also very reassuring to be able to take care of the school of work away from the library of the University. Yesterday, my computer was working fine... I think that Windows has completed an update, if I can't remember now. As I woke up this morning, I was not able to boot all the way to Windows only once.

My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6000 running XP Media Center, and I have not installed new hardware since I bought the machine about 3 years ago.

Here are more details, where they can help in the diagnosis of my problem:

    • ID of the system board: 30BB
    • Type of processor: Genuine Intel(r) CPU T2250
    • Processor speed: 1730 MHz
    • Total memory: 1024 MB
    • Video memory up to: 128 MB
    • BIOS version: F.06

Here's the entire message to the blue screen:
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Make sure you have enough disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video cards.

Check with your hardware vendor for updates to the BIOS. Disable the BIOS memory options such as implementing caching or shading. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced startup options, and then select Safe Mode.

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I also learned to a blue screen that says something about "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA". I think that this happens when I try to start safe mode.

Also, I never did much with computer problems beyond what could be repaired with the restoration of the system... so not being is not able to boot at all me has to stop. Please, I beg you! Help me?!

With great appreciation for your time,.

Problems of research on MS Windows XP Windows

Since a reinstall of xp windows (clean), I have a recurring problem with windows search 4.0 (Version 4.00.6001.503) on Windows XP SP3.
Whenever I restart the computer, the indexed search "resets":
-It shows as indexed only 541 items and the message "the index is finished."
-No emails in Outlook 2007 are indexed (despite files PST and subfolders are configured correctly in windows search)
-Custom folders "indexing options" have disappeared.
Indicating the new locations, no indexing is started.
When you stop and restart Windows search, it does not start correctly. He is unable to locate the index.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled windows search twice and the problem persits.
Windows XP installation is new (3 weeks)

    Hello

    Method 1:

I suggest you run an antivirus scan using the Microsoft Safety Scanner to confirm that your computer is free from any infection by the virus. Please find the link below.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

The Microsoft Safety Scanner is not a replacement for the use of antivirus software that offers continuous protection.

    Method 2:

Difficulty of Windows Desktop Search when it hangs or no display of results

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/windows_search

    Method 3:

    Step 1:

Basic search indexing troubleshooting Windows XP

    (a) connect to Windows with an account that has administrator privileges.

    (b) click on the 'Start' button, then click on 'Control Panel'. Double-click "Administrative Tools". If you don't see this icon, click "switch to Classic view" on the left side of the window.

    (c) double-click on 'Services'. In the window that opens, double-click 'Indexing Service'. If the value displayed next to "Startup Type" is "Manual" or "disabled", click the menu drop-down and select 'Automatic' and then click on the button "Start". Click on 'OK'.

    (d) check if the problem persists. Do not continue through the steps below, except if the problem persists. If the Indexing Service is already activated, close the "Services" window and minimize window 'Administrative Tools'.

    (e) click on the button "Start" and then click on 'my computer '. Right-click on your hard drive, then click 'properties '.

    (f) confirm that a cheque is not in the box "Allow Indexing Service to index this disk for fast searching of files". If the box is not checked, place a control inside and click on 'OK '.

    (g) note that it will take some time to apply this change to all files on the disc. If the box is not checked, check the box.

    Step 2:

Reconstruction of the Windows XP Search Index

    (a) return to the 'administration tools' window, which still has to be reduced. Double click on "Services".

    (b) double-click 'Indexing Service' and click on the "stop" button in the window that opens. Click 'OK' and then minimize the window 'Services'. Now you should look at the 'administration tools' window again. Double-click 'computer management '.

    (c) double-click the entryServices and Applications"on the left side of the window to expand the category, and then double-click 'Indexing Service'.

    (d) 'System' under 'Indexing Service' right click and select 'all tasks' and 'empty catalog. This forces Windows XP to empty the search index. When you restart the service, the index will be rebuilt.

    (e) to return to the 'Services'. Double-click 'Indexing Service' and click on the button "Start". Click "OK" and close all open windows. Let your computer rebuild the search index before you test it to make sure it works.

    (f) if the problem is resolved, stop here. If you continue to experience a problem, it may be because the indexing of search works correctly, but some files on the disk are excluded.

    Step 3:

Configuration of Windows XP to index all files

    a. click on the "Start" button, then click on 'my computer'.

    b. right click on your hard drive, then click 'Properties'.

    c. remove the control from the box "Allow Indexing Service to index this disk for fast file searching". Click on 'OK '.

    d. Select the radio button "changes α C:\, subfolders and files' and click 'OK '. Windows will exclude all files and folders on the disk being indexed. This process generally takes a lot of time to complete. If you receive an error, it's because indexing research cannot be enabled or disabled for some protected system files. Click "ignore all" when prompted.

    e. Repeat steps b - d during the replacement of the check in the box labeled "Allow Indexing Service to index this disk". Yet once, wait this course ends. If you or another user accidentally excluded any files or folders on the hard drive being indexed, they will once more be indexed when this process is complete.

    Check if it helps.

  • The formidable problem of Connectivity Bluetooth in Windows Vista continues to baffle. Here's my story and the cry for help!

    System:

Dell XPS M1530 - Windows Vista HP SP1

    -Dell Truemobile 355 Bluetooth + EDR (driver 6.0.6001.18064, 21.06.2006)

    Other devices
    -Device Bluetooth device
    -Device Bluetooth device
    -Device Bluetooth device
    -Device Bluetooth device
    -Device Bluetooth device

    Additional information:

There are NO NOKIA SOFTWARE currently INSTALLED.  I had the version more up-to-date of Nokia PC Suite installed earlier today, but I uninstalled it to rule out it as the cause of the problem.

    Objective:

To be able to connect my phone Nokia E50 in my XPS and synchronize etc...  It's a thing that I was able to do in the past (not sure how long ago), but now I'm having these problems.

    Problem:

When I turn on my Bluetooth connection it starts to search for drivers of devices at random (see above).  He is unable to find the drivers for them and Windows problem reports & Solutions (WPRS) says that there is a problem with my Nokia cell phone.  However, as above, I uninstalled Nokia PC Suite and Nokia ALL entries from the list of programs in the control panel.

I'm also be prompted by WPRS to consult the Broadcom website for driver updated also, but surprise surprise their Bluetooth software upgrades are not available now.

I spent almost 3 hours to try to rectify this problem until today and I have tried at least four different solutions of various Web site, including this one.  From what I've read, it's an extremely widespread problem that seems to have no infallible solution, which is a bit ridiculous because it is only a problem of Bluetooth connection!

    So my questions are:

    1. Why is it I'm being invited to check the Nokia website when all of Nokia is uninstalled?
    2. Why is it I'm being invited to visit the site of Broadcom also?
    3. why my system tries to install five devices that do not exist whenever I power on Bluetooth?

I suspect that it is a problem of Microsoft or Dell but don't seem to be able to solve.  All my drivers in Device Manager are up to date (at least I said that when I try to update, although I'd like to think that there has been updates since 2006?) so unless there is some hidden updates on the wwweb somewhere that I can't find so I'm puzzled.

I know that people are probably sick of hearing about this problem, but it has not disappeared, so he needs to take care.

Thank you for reading!  Signing the Ireland...

    Ronan:

    Hello, Ronan,.

Thank you for visiting the website of Microsoft Windows Vista Community.

I would like to respond to three questions of your message:

    1. Why is it I'm being invited to check the Nokia website when all of Nokia is uninstalled?

It is possible that your software Nokia my not completely uninstalled. There may be services or registry information left behind. You can download the following utility and uninstall completely.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp tool to uninstall any remaining Nokia information.

Installation of the Windows Installer CleanUp tool:

    Find the tool here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

When you install the tool, you must be logged on as administrator of the machine.

After you download the ms1cuu2.exe on your desktop, you will need to right-click on it and select "Run as Administrator" and you will need run the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the start menu. It will be under programs and will be called "Windows Installer Clean Up.

    2. Why is it I'm being invited to visit the site of Broadcom also?

Because Dell uses Broadcom, more than likely, you will be redirected there after installed Dell printer the standard utilities trying to solve this error message Bluetooth that happens.

    3. why my system tries to install five devices that do not exist whenever I power on Bluetooth?

After you uninstall the Nokia Software completely, see if that solves the problem of device.

I would also recommend, contact your provider of cellular service to support more.

    Original title: Windows 7

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP 1 that have previously been installed then bought my laptop. Product key number is fixed under the laptop.

    Thank you

New computers that come pre-installed with Windows often have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For LG, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

For Samsung, press F4 to the power upward...

For Fujitsu, press the F8 key directly after the power

Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"

Sony VAIO, reboot and press "F8" or "F10" repeatedly until the screen "Advanced Boot Options".

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

How to: What are my options for Windows 7 reinstall media?

Make sure you scroll down and read the section:

What to do if you cannot get your manufacturer recovery media, refuse to use or to buy it or the Microsoft Software Recovery Website does not work?
