Problemas HA/DRS

Hola a todos,

Me gustaria ver if any of los present me stupid I have as you can row a problema HA/DRS

Explico cual es the situation:

-3 3.5 ESXServer Servidores con activo HA/DRS.

-Isolate the answer "Shutdown VM"

-VM restart priority "Low".

-Number of failures of the host in the cluster can tolerate '1 '.

In el mismo tengo una servidores infrastructure + workstations (virtual + VDI servers)

Servidores en HA tengo 3 "High priority" Servidor DOMINIO + 2 VM VDI, the rest of maquinas office servidores

Las tengo in priority "low".

Questions:

-Es posible hacer crear dependencias between maquinas? (Me he remirado the documentation toda y no encuentro training)

Arum: Hasta that none is levanten las maquinas "VM1, VM2, VM3... no levantar el maquinas restaurant.

-Exist documents donde alguna to detail todas las HA/DRS advanced options (Las configurable Advanced options...)

MUCHAS gracias a todos.

igarcia

Hola Igarcia,

No molestas, mas are, all learn of todos. If you have good configurado HA, "lujo" works, decir, para are lo, para protegerte contra fallos hardward y con nueva version vSphere tambien you "protected" contra fallos del OS del MV comments.

Strange activity DRS on ESXi 5.5

  • Gracefully closes VMs and disconnect the floppy/CD drive

    All the

We have a VDI environment where the connection broker agent sometimes fails image stops when the user disconnects, and I want to run a weekly script late in the night to feed free of charge throughout.  In addition, sometimes people join local FDD / CD and these cause problems with DRS, so I want to delete all these at the same time.

    I could use the following:

    Get-Cluster "VDS - SDC01 | Get - VM UK1 * | Stop-VMGuest - confirm: $false

    Get-Cluster "VDS - SDC01 | Get - VM UK1 * | Stop-VM-confirm: $false

    Get-Cluster "VDS - SDC01 | Get - Vm | Where-Object {}

    - or"
    ((Get-FloppyDrive-VM $_ |)) Where-Object {(($_.))} ConnectionState.Connected - eq $True) - or ($_.) ((ConnectionState.StartConnected - eq $True))}) - no $Null))

    Get-CDDrive - VM $_. ForEach-Object {Set-CDDRIVE - CD $_ - StartConnected $False - connected $False - confirm: $False | %{"Changed" + $_.} Name}}
    FloppyDrive get - VM $_. ForEach-Object {Set-FloppyDRIVE-diskette $_ - StartConnected $False - connected $False - confirm: $False | %{"Changed" + $_.} Name}}

But the education of the diskette/CD disconnect player is somewhat clumsy.  All I want to do is set the VM for when what they feed on once again, he is going to be there no CD or FDD value so that that they will cause problems with the DRS (connected locally or host).

    Looking around, I saw an opportunity to use Set-CDDrive - CD $cd - NoMedia and whole-FloppyDrive-Floppy $floppy - NoMedia

As all virtual machines must be turned off at this point, could I just replace the last line with something like

    Get-Cluster "VDS - SDC01 | Get - Vm | {

    Game-CDDrive - CD $cd - NoMedia

    Game-FloppyDrive-floppy $floppy - NoMedia

    }

    ?

    Concerning

    Simon

The '%' is an alias for Foreach-Object. You can check with

    Get-Alias-Name %

All virtual machines will be placed, one by one, to the code block after the %.

In the block of code the current VM is accessible via the variable $_.

  • Internal DRS error 1500:c0:3001

Hi, I have recently reinstalled my HP Photosmart C4180 all-in-one on my computer (Vista) and when the scan it comes up with an internal DRS error 1500:c0:3001 error

I see that other people have had this problem but I can't seem to work through their responses to this problem. When you click this error 3 times to cancel, it will scan the document, but when I go in the scanned document, there all wavy lines, so you can not read the document.  Please can someone help!

    Thanks, Liz

    Hello

From the HP Solution Center, click on scan a Document.

Click Advanced for your used scan shortcut, document settings change the OCR in English language and the resolution to 200 DPI.

Click OK, click on save the shortcut to save the changes...

You see no difference by changing the shortcut to scan as follows?

  • 6310 scanning problem

Having problems... analysis done that partial analysis... absent from the picture... most scans sometimes only at the Center.  I tried the HP Drs etc.  Finally decided to uninstall and reinstall.  I uninstalled all HP because all this happened with the CD.  Put the CD in and it said my computer running XP, SP 3, 64-bit is not supported.  How can it be?  The printer was working on this system a few minutes ago.  Now I have nothing!  The new HP printers does support XP?

    With regard to the software:

    * You can download the drivers for XP 64 bit by clicking here.

As to the question of scanning:

    * Have you tested the printer hardware by making a copy to see if you get the same result when you run scans?

    * There is a document to solve the problems of quality of scan that can be found here.  The document focuses on the lines and veins, but the steps to fix a blurry or partial scan will be the same.

Let me know how it goes.

  • Problem with retention of disaster recovery

Hi everyone - I was wondering if someone has noticed this problem and found a solution... our backups CallManager and unity connection are fill the allotted space on the virtual computer that runs our SFTP server.  We have to keep 5 days of backups, but when I go through the files for both, I found some who had returned a year or more.  For some reason, he is not aging their properly.

Currently we lack 9.1.2 CUCM and UCxn, but this has happened on our system when we had 8.5/8.6 so...

    any ideas?

    SJ

Either the SFTP user that the product does not have permissions to delete or someone fiddling around with the files (i.e. try to manually clear some of them) and the product has lost track of what's on the SFTP store. I would recommend focusing on a different server for a backup manual (for example your laptop) in order to have a good backup, and then wipe the record clean. Put the DRS of keeping a backup only and look to ensure that it is able to cleanly clear the backup two, day. If he'll come back smoothly, your retention period to five and tell people to keep their hands off the cookie jar SFTP server.

  • Configuration of the DRS and CVS!

    Hi all

    I have 2 IBM (M4 Systemx3650 IBM, Intel® Xeon® CPU E5 - 2620 V2 2.10 GHz, 12 processors * 2,099 GHz) hosts.

one DELL number (PowerEdgeR730, Intel® Xeon® CPU E5 - 2630 V3 @ 2.40 GHz, 16 processors * 2,399 GHz) host with much more kit license vmWARE. configured in a single cluster and all ARMY 3 are under the same group.

Problem 1: attempt to activation of DRS, get error because I'm not allowed to activate DRS for license and DELL host must be updated to the same.

"Problem 2: attempt to activate CVSIntel® Ivy Bridge ' generation is not tenable for host DELL and Intel®"Haswell"generation is not tenable to accumulated both IBM hosts.

If someone could suggest an easy way to overcome it / what step should I take to solve it.

So now the problem is simple, since you do not have a problem of compatibility really :-) Since vCenter VM is started in one of the hosts, you must perform this procedure: VMware KB: VCA allowing on a cluster when vCenter Server is running in a virtual machine

The VCA level for the new cluster must be Ivy Bridge.

  • How to calculate the CPU Ready on Cluster DRS via Powercli?

    Hi all!

I have a DRS Vsphere cluster. I want to know what is the value of the loan of CPU I have in my group.

For example, I get 20% of powercli value, it is normal for the cluster, but if I have 100% or more, I have a problem.

How to achieve via Powercli? And how to calculate the percentage values correctly?

I know, I can get all values of CPU Ready of VMs cluster, but IT is not the same thing, I need overall value of CPU Ready.

    Thanks in advance!

As far as I know you can get the cpu.ready.summation for ESXi nodes or VMs.

For a cluster, you will need to get the value of each node in the cluster ESXi and then take the average.

The metric cpu.radey.summation is expressed in milliseconds.

To get a percentage, you need to calculate the percentage of loan period during the interval during which it was measured.

Something like this (this will give the loan current %)

    $clusterName = "mycluster.

    $stat = "cpu.ready.summation".

    $esx = get-Cluster-name $clusterName | Get-VMHost

    $stats = get-Stat-entity $esx - Stat $stat - Realtime - MaxSamples 1 - forum «»

    $readyAvg = $stats | Measure-object-property - average value. Select - ExpandProperty average

    $readyPerc = $readyAvg / ($stats [0].) IntervalSecs * 1000)

    Write-Output "Cluster $($clusterName) - CPU % loan $(' {0:p}'-f $readyPerc).

  • Strange behavior of DRS

    Hello

I'm very confused on the behavior of the DRS on a cluster 2 host (ESX5.0)

Everything works on the same host. Guests migrated to the other GET host that Drs would be back to the original host. When I put the DRS setting to any guest migrated partially automated, is recommended to switch to the single host with everything, with the reason listed as 'reserves memory balance'

There are no reserves memory or resource on this cluster pools. Any ideas of where to start looking for someone?

I admission control strict belive is there. should solve the problem through this configuration.

  • Home put in service of a DRS cluster active mode NOT to trigger and automatic Vmotion

    I'm under 5.5 U2

I have a cluster with active and defined DRS fully automated, but when I select the host for the maintenance mode of the VM NOT vmotion to another host in the cluster automatically. I have to vmotion manually each virtual machine to a host selected manually. There are a few VM with DRS off on them because they ONLY work on the host, they are assigned to (replication of virtual computer), but all the other VMS are defined 'by default (automated)'. Would it because I only have two of the host in the cluster?

  • VM shows physical mode as unreadable RDMs after DRS put VM on new host

    Need help with a problem:

a virtual machine with pRDMs which is part of a VCS configuration has been closed, host migrated manually again, then power on, DRS he moved to yet another host.   and for some reason, the RDM are now unreadable

Does anyone have an idea why this happened and how to fix this?

Notes - for this virtual machine DRS has been on 'manual', while the clusters more DRS setting is fully automatic.     Because it is set to manual, I wasn't the one that vaulted to the top of the virtual machine, but I guess the user who did it was invited to place the virtual computer somewhere and he chose to place it on a new host then that it had migrated to.

Made this recommendation of the DRS and move them to the new host clustered VM ability to see the pRDMs?

In the guest OS I run diskpart and the disks are online, but appear as unreadable.

Thanks for advice on this one to help us understand the behaviour here, and what could have caused this.

I am perfectly aware that the VNMware cannot vmotion VMs with shared during an attempt of vmotion SCSI controllers.  But it's not clear to me that the process is under the covers when DRS wants to move a virtual machine somewhere in the power.

DRS uses vmotion to move VMS between hosts and it should has failed, if they are configured for shared scsi - I do the bet when the virtual machine has been powered and he was placed on the host wroong who has no access to the RDM - powering the virtual computer if you start on the correct host do you have access ot the RDM?

  • VCA serious question in a cluster after adding servers active DRS blades M630 Dell

    Hi guys,.

I hope that you will be able to help me with this strange question that I feel right now.

A couple of details first on our environment:

    • vCenter 5.0 U3
    • ESXi 5.0.0 - 2509828
    • 6 guests active DRS cluster
    • 4 hosts are Dell M620, E5-26XX v2 processor blades
    • 2 hosts are blades M630 Dell with processors of E5-26XX v2
    • VCA mode is currently set at "Westmere".
    • All ESXi hosts are fully patched using AUVS

Before adding the new M630 blades to the cluster it any of the issues with the DRS or VCA, outside the constraints of resources, and the 4 blades M620 we are able to correctly migrate the virtual machines back.

I could add the M630 blades to the cluster without problem and without errors or warnings have been issued. A week or so later, I noticed more deviations of DRS desired on the cluster. More inspection I noticed that quite a large number of virtual machines showed N/A beside VCA mode and I was not able to migrate them to any host on the cluster.

Thinking it could be a bug of sorts, I turned off all the virtual machines in the cluster and run a script that resets the CPUID at default. In addition, as a measure of precaution, I restarted the vCenter server and ensures that the database has been effective. The hosts are synchronized time with an NTP source and fits perfectly on both hosts.

After feeding all the VMS, I rebooted the M630 servers and inspected the BIOS settings to ensure that virtualization and NX/XD is enabled. With all virtual machines powered off, I was able to change the levels of the VCA to any available without warnings setting.

When everything has been turned back on I noticed a strange behavior in the cluster.

Virtual machines that are running on M620 blades show the right level of CVS and I am able to migrate them to all servers in the cluster. Once that they migrate to the blades M630, VCA state change s/o and I am unable to migrate anywhere, not even the other M630 blade in the cluster.

The error that I am shown during the verification step is:

The operation is not allowed in the current state of the connection to the host. Host CPU is not compatible with the requirements of the virtual machine to cpuid level 0 x 1 host bit ' ecx' register: 0000:0010:1001:1000:0010:0010:0000:0011 required: x 110: x01x:11 x 1: 1xx0:xx11:xx1x:xxxx:xx11 inconsistency detected for these characteristics: * General incompatibilities; see section 1993 of possible solutions.

Dig deeper in my investigation, I came across this KB: 1034926[1]

I checked the M620 user guides and the M630 and parameters mentioned in the KB should be enabled by default. Unfortunately, I have no way to check the BIOS settings because I can not all M630 blades enter into maintenance mode without turning off the virtual machines running on them and another maintenance window one day after previous, we're going to be deprecated. In addition, the error is not the same as that of the KB and my goal is to collect as much information before entering another window of maintenance requiring downtime.

I hope that you will be able to provide any new perspectives or opening my eyes to things that I may have missed.

    Thanks in advance.

The processor in this system is a v3 E5-2660, not an E5-26xx v2.  ESXi 5.0 doesn't know how to use the features of this processor FlexMigration.  I think that the first version of ESXi to support this processor is ESXi 5.1U2.

Unfortunately, I do not see a workaround for ESXi 5.0 solution.

  • DRS issues

Hello, I have a client who has 2 physical servers and a SAN.  they run vSphere 5.5.  I wasn't the one that setup it environment, but I am now responsible.  Ive been so more things and I noticed that a DRS cluster is configured.  DRS is configured as fully automated.  I then noticed that about 5-10 times per day a virtual machine is migrated from one host to another.

Servers are speced on two well, Dell Poweredge r.620, E5-2609 Xeon 2 processors in each server, 146 GB memory to each server.  About 17 VM distributed between two servers.

Im trying to figure out why DRS continues to move vms.  This is not always the same virtual machine every day or at the same time.

There is more then enough memory, most of the servers are allocated around 4 gigs, some with 8, so, not even using half 146 concerts that are in each physical server.

Then I looked at the CPU on the host at the time of migration and it not even using 30%, then watched the virtual machine CPU time, it has been moved and basically the same thing, about 20% cpu.  So it's not a CPU problem.

Use of the network seems weak to non-existent at the time of the movements.

I noticed one thing, it's that there's no assign virtual machines with 4 vCPU assigned to them.  I know in Vmware 3 cpu scheduling was a problem, but vmware 5 is allot better with it.  Could DRS to move the virtual machine around due to the CPU, scheduling issues?

When I check the tasks and events, it just shows that the DRS migrated virtual machine, it does not say why.  Is there somewhere else that I should check for this info?

Im not saying this is a problem that the virtual machine is moved because it seem not to be problems with it.  But it seems not exaggerated so that he can move things around so much.  I would just understand why go here

I wrote to allot, thanks for any input

    Mike

Can you tell me the threshold of Migration?

  • Set up the alarm is triggered when the migration of VM with DRS

Hello, I have a client who has Vmware 5.5, we have DRS setup and his works fine.  If I check the tasks and events, I can see the occasional VM being migrated.  What I want to do is to set up an alert when a VM migrates from one host to another due to the DRS, I want that it send me an email.

Ive went through default alerts and do not see one.

I tried to create an alert, but that's where I'm starting to get confused.

I have create a new alarm, I choose "Monitor for specific events.

Under triggers, I add an event

One of the events is VM migrated - this looks like one I'd like to

My problem is what to put for the advanced settings?

Ill add an Argument, but I'm not sure that what to put here.  There are options like host-ID hostname, but the operator for these seem to want you to know the specific host, it's on.  But there will be moments where the VM can bounce between two different hosts.  So I don't know which host its on.  I just want to know that it has migrated and when.

I'm sure it's very simple and im just missing something

    Thanks for the help
