I do a bit of practice for MCITP study... In windows server 2008, I use Bridge and in the Windows NAT using 07:00

Well, I guess you should start your trip MCITP become familiar with the IP configuration and routing

Addresses that you configured do not work that way. Assuming that the physical - bridged - network (if connected) is 192.168.100.x, you may be able to access the Windows Server 2008, but you will never be able to access the virtual from Windows 7 computer with the NAT configuration, because NAT is running on another network (vmnet8 - 192.168.201.x). Depending on the need or not to be able to access the outside world of the virtual machine, you should consider is instituted two virtual machines with an IP address in the range of vmnet1 (Host-Only - 192.168.80.x) or vmnet8 (NAT - 192.168.201.x). In the case of NAT, configure the virtual machine for DHCP or use IP addresses between x.x.x.3 and x.x.x.127.

  • Disable copying files between virtual machines

When I go to several virtual desktops using VMware View 4, I am able to copy files between virtual machines. Virtual machines are located in various isolated networks. It is a security problem in my organization and how do I disable this feature? I am not able to find any related configuration in sight connection to the server. Thank you!

I assume you are using RDP as the Protocol currently, correct?

In this case, you will need to implement some GPO:s in the workstations to avoid copy and paste.

Look in the 'Extras' folder on the view connection server, there are a number of ADM files that you can implement to restrict all sorts of things.

  • flow of traffic between virtual machines

If I had 2 machines virtual on the same slide in a M3 of b200 on the same vswitch, is communication on traffic between the 2 vms strictly inside the m3 Server?

What if I had a virtual machines on a b200m3 and another virtual machine to another b200m3?

same chassis and the chassis is connected to the FI

Traffic between virtual machines will stay on the FI or it will mount the switch to basic?

so, if is blade1 VM1 and VM2 is Blade2 and both on the same vlan
Traffic will remain within FI or it will go up North to core?

Both is possible! as I said above: If the entry and exit are on the fabric a RESP. B, it is switched.

However, it could also be A penetration, exit on B or vice versa and then must go to the North (and get switched L2)

    What if

Blade1 is VM1 and VM2 is on blade2 but on different VLANS, the traffic will have to hit the correct base gateway?

  • Problem between CTS/CUBE/VCS

We have a topology that looks like this:

    CTS-> CUCM-> CUBE-> VCS-> telepresence server.

CTS-3000 s can make calls to the telepresence server, but the other way for a TC-3000 calls fail, with VCS search history gives a too small "Session Timer" error

I must point out that demand for CTS-1000 units works very well in both directions.

On the telepresence server, it seems to connect for a second before dropping.  The TP server logs indicate that the CTS-300 has negotiated OK TIP/SIP-MUX, then it disconnects immediately.

I read documentationon 'Timer Session small' problem between VCS and CUCM and have made the appropriate changes, however I do not know how having a CUBE in the middle would be afefct this

    CUCM version: 8.6

    VCS: 5.1.1

    TP server: 2.2 (1.48)

    CUBE: IOS 15.1

    Hi Nick,

I'm the engineer who worked on this through your ticket of TAC.  I know that you now have the fix, but I thought that I have would be the bases here in case others come across this thread with a similar problem.

In this case, the error "Session Timer too small" came from the CUBE itself.  As you mentioned that you have the VCS and the CUCM set to 500, those who are OK.  However, the CUBE was always the default value of 1800 so he sent this error.  The fix for this is to change this value with the following commands:

    voip phone service

    SIP

    min - to 500-500 expires

However in the end, wasn't the cause of the failure of the actual call.  Changing the value of the cube fixed 'too small logoff' mistakes, but always calls disconnected right after login.  The fix for this turned out be a CUCM configuration change, which I won't go into here.

  • Networking between virtual machines on different hosts

    Hello

I need some advice on the basic approach to networking between virtual machines, each running on a different host machine.

    Consider the following configuration:

I have a few processes that are running in a Machine virtual Ubuntu. Call this guest1.  I guest1 race inside a real computer running Windows XP SP3 and VMware Workstation 7.x; Call this host 1.

I have a copy of this virtual machine that I put on another machine.  Call this Guest2.  I have Guest2 running on a separate physical computer, also runs Windows XP SP3 and VMware Workstation 7.x; Call this host 2.

Now, I would like to guest1 and 2 comments to make networking with eachother.  I wish they were able to ping, SSH, etc., among others.

This is where I am stuck. I tried setting the virtual machines to use the bridged network mode.  I tried to connect my router on each computer and manually assigning IP addresses to each host and each virtual computer.  When I do this, guest1 can Host1 and Host2 ping, but cannot ping Guest2 and vice versa.

What is the right way to do this kind of network?  This seems like an obvious application, if you want to perform simulations on multiple virtual machines residing on different computers on the network.

I apologize if this is the answer elsewhere, I had to dig and was not able to find the solution.

    Thanks in advance!

    Charles

Guests must be on the same subnet, like 'real' hardware machines.

1 when you copied the VM and then started, what did answer you the question of copy/move? (this determines if a new MAC address is applied)

2 view each guest and ' ipconfig/all' results 'ifconfig - a' by the hosts.

  • Shared LUNS / models between virtual centres

I'm looking to create a LUN to hold our models and would like to share on all of our servers.  We currently lack separate virtual centers of production and development for models would be shared between the two.  No problem with that?

    No problems.

The only requirement is that the model storage is shared between the ESX (or at least ESX on which you will deploy your model).

  • Record vm of copy-DatastoreItem between virtual centres model

How can I use the datastoreitem copy to copy a folder of models a vcenter to vcenter another vm?

    Hello, tdubb123-

I think that you will need to make a copy in two steps to achieve this:

Copie-DatastoreItem 0) to a staging location (say, local file system running PowerCLI)

    (1) an another copy DatastoreItem call to copy from the intermediate location in the destination data store in the destination vCenter

"' You can get the vCenters data warehouses the different browsing the PSDrive" vmstores------:  So, you copieriez to vmstores:\sourceVCenter\someCluster\datastore0\ to d:\temp\, then d:\temp\ to vmstores:\destVCenter\someOtherCluster\otherDatastore\, for example.

It seems that you can not copy directly between vCenters with this cmdlet.  Trying to do so returns the error, "copy-DatastoreItem: impossible to copy data store objects in a store of data managed by another VC Server»

What the round point road, however?

  • copy the folder between virtual centres

What is the fastest way to copy a folder of models one vcenter to another vm?

I think the best way would be to export to the FVO and import it into the new VCenter or use SCP from host to host.  If it's a different cluster/datacenter in the VCenter even, you can rotate upward and then reset the network label.

Here is an article on the copy between hosts ESXi (which wouldn't matter at this point on VCenters):

  • Network problem between the machines Win XP and Win 7

I have 2 machines, a desktop and a laptop.  The office is currently running Windows 7 Pro (installed on 2010-01-01) and the laptop is running Win XP Pro.

The desktop (Win 7) can see the laptop (XP) on the network and can access the shared folders.

However, the reverse is not true.  The laptop can detect the office as a computer on the network.  I can double click the icon and see the files of office that are shared.  But when I try to access the content of the files, I get a message that says I don't have permissions and contact the system administrator.

I also have a problem with the shared printer (connected to desktop Win 7).  Before the upgrade both machines can print, after the upgrade, the laptop (Win XP) stopped printing.  I installed the XP drivers for the printer (using the functionality of additional drivers) on Win 7, deleted the printer on the XP computer connection and he still added.  The XP machine was able to find the printer on the network, but when I try to print, I get an arror message saying that "(l'imprimante peut être désactivé, pas branché ou les pilotes ne sont pas installés)."

I think that the two problems are related, but I can't understand where is the problem.  Print and file sharing is 'on' on both computers, the firewall is configured to allow printing the file and shares, folders are set to 'share', with "everyone" under permissions and both machines have the same network name.

Any ideas? Am I missing something?  Is it possible to reset all default values so I can set up the network again from scratch?

    Thanks in advance a lot.

Probably, you have a misconfigured firewall and/or do not have matching accounts/passwords user on both machines.
Here are the steps of general network troubleshooting. Just cannot apply to your situation, so just take the bits that are. It may seem daunting, but if you follow the steps in the links and suggestions below calmly and consistently, you will have no difficulty to implement your sharing.

Problems sharing files between computers on a network are usually caused by 1) a misconfigured firewall or a firewall neglected (including a dynamic firewall in a virtual private network); or (2) inadvertently run two firewalls such as the firewall of Windows and a third-party firewall. and/or (3) do not have accounts to the same users and passwords on all computers in the workgroup. (4) tries to create actions where the operating system does not.

In Windows 7, go to control panel > everything in Control Panel > network and sharing Center. Click on "change the advanced sharing settings. You don't want to use the residential group unless you have all Windows 7 machines. If you do and you want to use the homegroup, see Windows 7 Help & Support. Otherwise, in sharing advanced:

Discovery of plug in the network
Open the files and printers sharing
Turn on the sharing section Public folder sharing
    Plug the password protected sharing

    A. configure the firewall on all machines to allow traffic to local area network (LAN) as being approved. With the Windows Firewall, turning on window file sharing and printer as the above will take care of that for you. If you are not running a third-party firewall or you have an antivirus/security with its own firewall component program, then you're fine.  With a third-party firewall, I usually set up the allocation of LAN with an IP address range. E.g. would be 192.168.1.0 - 192.168.1.254. Obviously you would substitute your correct subnet. Refer to the safety of any third party program or the user forums for how to correctly configure its firewall. Do not run more than one firewall. DON'T STOP FIREWALLS; CONFIGURE THEM CORRECTLY.

    (B) to facilitate the Organization, put all computers in the same workgroup. This is done from the System applet in Control Panel, the computer name tab.

    C. create the counterpart of the user accounts and passwords on all machines. You do not need to be logged into the same account on all machines and assigned to each user account passwords can be different; accounts/passwords just need to exist and to match on all machines. DO NOT NEGLECT TO CREATE PASSWORDS, EVEN IF ONLY OF SIMPLE. If you want a machine to boot directly to the desktop (a particular user account) for convenience, you can do this:

Start > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

XP - set up Windows to automatically connect (MVP Ramesh) - http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Autologon.htm

    D. Si one or more of the computers on your network are XP Pro or Media Center, turn off Simple file sharing (Folder Options > view tab).

    E. create share as you wish. In Windows 7 I usually share the Desktop of the user and the Public directory.

    F. you have the job of file sharing (and tested by exchanging a file between machines), if you want to share a printer connected locally to one of your computers, share of this machine. Then go to the printer mftr Web site. and download the latest drivers for the correct system. Install them on the target machines. The printer must be collected during the installation procedure. If this isn't the case, install the drivers and then use the Add Printer Wizard. In some cases, printers must be installed as local printers, but it is outside this response. • PIX and problem of virtual FTP hosts

I have a Cisco PIX (version 6.3 (3)) behind which I have all my ISP customers. I have a web server outside the PIX hosting various web sites on an IP (virtual hosts). People outside the PIX can send via FTP on the web server without any problems. People inside the PIX cannot. We have this problem until I started using virtual servers on the server FTP and assignment of different FTP port numbers for each of the web sites. (We only had a single site on the web server until a few days ago.) I guess it's a problem of PIX because that's the only difference between access to the FTP server for my customers of the ISP with non. So, my question is that I have to open also the new FTP on my PIX port numbers? I already have "fixup protocol ftp 21". I should add similar statements for each of the new higher ports? I'm new to using a PIX; We didn't cover them in my CCNA and CCNP courses. Also, I can FTP virtual hosts located on other servers of Internet service providers, which makes no sense to me. Thank you.

    Hello

I assume by "higher port numbers" are the new ftp servers listening on ports other than the default port 21. If this is the case, then you are quite correct to say you need to add the correction commands more.

The active way FTP works is that a control connection is established between the client and the server over tcp 21, and then they negotiate a data port. The * server * then initiates a connection to the customer on this port.

Normally, this isn't a problem for the pix, because he looked at the control connection on port 21 and understood that it was necessary to open a hole for the connection on the new port, but if you do ftp on ports other than 21, you must specify the pix 'look' that port as a ftp control connection so it can then open the firewall for the data connection.

You can verify the fix here

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/products/sw/secursw/ps2120/products_command_reference_chapter09186a00801727a8.html#wp1067379

The short but you need an outgoing access list for the new ftp port entry (say it's 2525), then to consult as if it were the ftp, the command "fixup protocol ftp 2525"

  • Quick vMotioning problem between two servers HP BL460c Gen 9 when EVC enabled

I have two HP BL460c Gen 9 blades configured exactly the same thing with 2 x Intel XEON E5-2660 v3 processors in each of them. Both running the same version ROM (I36 06/05/2015) and running the same version of ESXi (5.0.0 build 2509828). They are managed by a Server Build 2656067 vCenter 5.0.0.

When I configure these two servers in a cluster with EVC disabled I am able to vMotion between them. However, if I activate the Intel EVC modes so I am unable to vMotion between these two identical servers.  Here is an example of the message that I get when I updated Westmere VCA mode

Host CPU is not compatible with the requirements of the virtual machine to CPUID level 0 x 1 'ecx' register

    Bits of the host: 0000:0010:1001:1000:0010:0010:0000:0011

    Required: x 110: x01x:11 x 1: 1xx0:xx11:xx1x:xxxx:xx11

    Inconsistency detected for these features:

    * General incompatibilities

If I disable CVS, then I can vMotion VMs between them.

I wanted to add these hosts to an existing cluster configured with EVC Westmere mode so that I was able to vMotion between old and new guests, but was unable to vMotion VMs off the new hosts, even if I tried to vMotion to another new host.

Configure a new cluster with only these two new hosts to so I could experiment. I can only vMotion between them if CVS is disabled. I cannot further increase the VCA mode on this new cluster, for example of Westmere to Sandy Bridge then I have virtual machines under tension within the cluster. For example: I put the VCA mode at Westmere, feeding on a virtual computer, when I go to change the CVS to Sandy Bridge mode I get the following message, I should be able to increase the VCA mode but may not lower it

The cluster cannot be configured with the selected Enhanced vMotion

Compatibility mode; The CPU features disabled by this mode may be currently in use

by slot voltage or suspension of the virtual machines in the cluster.

I get this message even if I try to set the VCA mode at the same level, that it is already.

Anyone got any ideas on how to solve this problem?

    Hello

Seems, your CPU supports 5.0 ESXi and vCenter 5.0, you must upgrade your vSphere vSphere 6.x for the VCA.

See the links below and also compatibility VCA matrix attached:
