Probs driver ThinkPad T40

Hello

I recently upgraded my IBM ThinkPad T40 of Windows 2000 Pro for Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 2). Clean install.

I couldn't connect wirelessly to the Internet after the installation.

I looked in Device Manager and saw yellow? against the 'Ethernet controller', 'network controller '. "PCI Modem", "Unknown device" and finally "video controller".

Ive downloaded almost all the drivers available on the site Web of Lenovo for Ethernet, network and video Controller for Windows XP... still same problem... really say I already have this installed.

PCI modem not too bothered as I want to connect wireless... Unknown device... too caught the penalty is because I think it's my external DVD player.

Any help for a driver (s) you connect to the Internet again? Everything worked fine before a clean install of 2000 Pro to XP Pro.

Mark

Welcome to the forum!

Driver download is just the first part of the process, after that it must be decompressed in the appropriate directory.

For example, your ethernet driver must be decompressed c > drivers > win > Ethernet to become functional.

If you post the complete model number 7 characters of your T40 (237?-?) we would be able to help you the best.

I hope this helps.

  • Re: R400/T400/T500/W500: display driver crashes "amdkmdap."

I just installed Windows 7 yesterday and of course, he had problems with this video card. I have a T500, bought in March of this year.

Everything worked fine after installing Windows 7. The problem was when I installed the video driver from Windows Update. The screen initially showed only the wallpaper after installation, and after that reboot the screen would just be black, showing only a cursor. I saw a few posts where someone said that this is because Windows thinks that a projector is installed, so you must press the button of the window + P, and then the right arrow, then enter. But I have not tried. I'm sick of this dang hacking video card!

Someone was able to get the card works well under Windows 7? Now I'm running it with just the default driver, which works fine until I try to connect an external monitor (it doesn't let me extend my screen).

If you have installed the driver Thinkpad Hotkey and OSD, you must disable autorun of the on-screen display program. The symptoms you describe are a bit like mine with the same problem

  • Why are my bigger than my hard drive backups?

I have a Thinkpad with 250 GB used.  Windows backup works very well, but he put two large files on my external hard drive: THINKPAD with GB 357 and WindowsImageBackup with 151 GB.  Why so much?  Can it be reduced?  Should I turn off Windows Backup and use the software of the car manufacturer (WD Backup) only?  His record is 344 GB, and there is only one.

    Hey there Mike :)

Could you post a screenshot of how backups look in folders?
Your backup is probably making a complete copy of all your files AND a system image that can be restored, so it's bigger than your space used.
In my view, this thread will be useful.

I might suggest checking for WD SmartWare as a backup solution. :)
