  You have to manually enable.  This issue of reactivation occurs from time to time (in fact rarely) but there is nothing to worry.

  To activate manually, go to start, search, and type in slui 4 enter.  Enter your country and press Next.  You will be on a screen with a phone number and a bunch of codes below.  Dial the number and browse automatic guests until you get to a human being.  Have your handy product code because it will be asked.  Explain the situation, but it's the same PC and only installed on this PC.  They should give you a code to enter on this screen to activate Vista.

  I bought Windows Vista Ultimate OEM (32-bit) Software a few years when I built my PC (from Newegg.com). I have format my computer every year and reinstall windows using this DVD. I formatted and reinstalled windows over the years and have no issues. I just formatted and reinstalled windows yesterday and I'm now receive a message saying my product key code is already in use. Could this be caused by me in shape and for some reason it now visualize myself as another computer, try to use the same product key code? Would be another re - format and new installation fix the problem or is there another solution?

  I must have typoed my question in the search box the first time because I could not find any solution to my question above but I tried again and I found the solution.

  The product key is used because 'you' use it. In other words it has already been activated once and the number of product key appears on the activation of Microsoft database. This isn't a problem, instead of activate over the internet, a simple call to the activation of Microsoft, line will solve the problem.   I have the same problem, and I think that MS is absolutely unjust:

  1. I have legal copy for about 2.5 years and had no problem with activation. MS changed something in MY SYSTEM VALID without telling me! If not how could having windows change my behavior?

  2. now I have to prove that my copy is legal - also I can't prove it, because I'm registered anno, so the key "is in use" - of course, it is! by me. (I am "punished" because I wanted to act according to the needs.)

  3. I tried to get help for my problem - no way!

  4. it seems that the only solution is to buy AGAIN the softwrare I already paid for. But that money is not due, so I'm not paying for what is legally mine. I'll look for other OS - perhaps LINUX to replace Vista. I'm sorry, I get fed up with the problem generated by MS!

  You can be confusing with office of certificates according to the type of license of office that was purchased

  Your old computer had a "Retail" or "OEM" of Windows installed version?

  OEM versions are related to the 1st motherboard they are installed and can not be activated on another motherboard. The only exception is the 'mother' is exactly the same make / model / part number as the original motherboard.

  Commercial versions can be moved from one computer to another without problem except that the the phone activation may be required.

  I have a Compaq Presario F730 Notebook PC. I bought it two years ago. Today, when I got home I got a message on my screen that said that I needed to get my vista product key. I entered and it notified me that my key was already in use. I went to the Microsoft site and basically, he told me that I had to check my information produced by phone. I did, but they said I had a "defect in my product key." After being transferred to a technician, told me that Compaq had bought the license to put vista on my computer and it would have to be solved on end of Compaq. They me transferred to Compaq and I waited an hour before I hung up. Is there anyway to get the support of a technician on the forums? Everyone fell on this problem, if so, how you resolve?

  I usually more luck on the cat... have you tried? http://welcome.HP.com/country/us/en/contact/chat_1.html (for US), I'm not sure it would work as well as the phone in your situation, though, as you will need to speak to a representative at a higher level. You might be better just try calling at different times of the day to find one of the periods of time during the day when the queue of the call is low.

  The software has been installed on another computer?  OEM licenses are not transferable.

  Retail licenses can be installed on another computer, but must be uninstalled from another computer.

  Judging by your post, it seems that Microsoft had technical problems when you tried to activate your copy of Vista by phone. Have you tried phoning the line Activation again?

  The normal procedure is that if the activation fails through the automated system, the call is transferred to a real person. It is the only available option if you get the error 'use existing product key'.

  I can only suggest that you try again the activation by phone and see what happens.

  I bought Windows Vista Home Basic in April 2008. Order number: 1000831652. I have the electronic invoice and original original DVD. I had also activated my product then. Later, I installed SP1 and SP2, and regular updates.
