Installation of old game by using the program compatibility Wizard
First of all, I don't know anything about computers, and all I know I Googled it, so stupid to speak for me.
I have a windows vista 64 computer and recently I ordered online (Direct2Drive.com) and downloaded the game Roller Coaster Tycoon 2. I tried to play it and received a pop up saying that the program has stopped working properly. Googling my questions and read the forums that I discovered that I had to make adjustments or what on the program compatibility Wizard, but when I opened and followed the steps to get there... the game is not yet appear in search of file Assistant. The only option it gives me is to uninstall the game and is not really what I'm going...
Basically, I'm looking for an answer that gives me instructions step by step on how to get this program installed and ready to play!
Thanks for any help!

Click on "run this program in compatibility mode for" and choose Windows XP (SP2) or Windows 98.

Cannot use "Program Compatibility Wizard".
When you try to use the "Program Compatibility Wizard" I get the following message: application HTML (R) host has stopped working. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution can be found. No information received for the solution. What can be done to fix this?
Hi Woz111,
(1) for which program you use the program compatibility Wizard?
(2) how did you install the program?
(3) what is the operating system installed on the computer?
If Windows 7 is installed on the computer, check if the program is compatible with windows 7 with the Compatibility Center.
http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-7/en-us/default.aspxFrom now on, I would say you can do an System File Checker [SFC] scan on the computer.
Scan SFC enforcement procedure:
1. click on the Start button
2. on the Start Menu, click all programs followed by accessories
3. in the menu accessories, right-click on command line option
4. in the drop-down menu that appears, click the "Run as Administrator" option
5. If you have the User Account Control (UAC) enabled, you will be asked permission before the opening of the command line. You simply press the button continue if you are the administrator or insert password etc.
6. in the command prompt window, type: sfc/scannow then press enter
7. a message is displayed to indicate that "the analysis of the system will start.
8. be patient because the analysis may take some time
9. If all the files need replace SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Vista DVD for this process to continue
10. If all goes although you should, after the analysis, see the following message "Windows resource protection not found any breach of integrity.
11. once the scan is finished, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check.

Cannot turn off Program Compatibility Assistant
I hope someone can provide me with a way to disable the program compatibility Wizard. I had this same problem in the Beta, but of course during the beta test I used Windows 7 Ultimate. First off I would like to start by pointing out that I do run with Windows 7 Home Premium.
That said, I know that this means that the most common solution, using Local Group Policy Editor to disable the program compatibility Wizard won't work, as the Home Premium does not gpedit.msc.
Now, this is the part confusing, at least to me. I found an alternative solution specifically designed to fill this gap. I was directed to the access to Servicesand localization Program Compatibility Assistant Service, stop the service and then turn it off (via the properties for this service). I did exactly that. He is arrested and the Startup Type is "off". I even rebooted.
Now here's the part that confuses me... it always comes back. How can he do that when I have the service stopped? This is another aspect of the security of Windows 7 I am not aware of this must be disabled?
As a note, when I tried to install the software in question, I chose "Run as Administrator", just in case, and who didn't yet have any advantage. If anyone knows what I have to do, including instructions on changing my recording, let me know. Thank you.
Hi Mobius187,
I'm afraid to say that in Windows 7 Home Edition Premium, it is not possible to disable this feature.
The only way to turn it off is by using the Group Policy Editor.Program Compatibility Assistant: Frequently asked questions

Bottom right of your computer, you should have a Windows Logo next to the clock, it's 'Get 10 Windows' program. Double-click it, and then use the menu at the top left of this one to check your compatibility.

I don't know even what it is, but all the other days, I get the error message. HP Support Assistant program compatibility recognizes my phone despite several relocations
HP Support assistant suddenly stopped running my laptop HP dv6t-3100. I reinstalled several times, and sometimes it works for a few days, then fails to identify my camera, so no loading and so useless. MS program compatibility tool identifies it as "incompatible". I don't understand. My OS is Windows 7, 64-bit, home premium. It worked well for a few years, but has now become weird. Does anyone know what it is? Any help would be appreciated, especially given that this laptop does not work as effectively it was. Thank you very much.

"Program compatibility assistant" halts open Soundbooth
When you open the Soundbooth splash screen appear normally for a few seconds of Soundbooth. Then a "Program Compatibility Wizard" covers the Soundbooth splash screen and warns against the "missing codec" and if I select the download which brings me to the www.totalcodec.com site that wants Larry me to install what is called the missing codecs. Notice that I am on XP and there is no "Program Compatibility Wizard" (only for Vista, Windows 7). Note wrong spelled "compatibility."
I ran a full scan with malwarebytes and McAfee and the two report I own of any virus or malware. I see no problem with other products of CS4 web premium.
I did a complete clean installation of Soundbooth CS4 which did not help. Here you can see "Assistant to the program compatibility" covering start of Soundbooth and warning "missing codecs. You can also see in the background malwarebytesthat I used to check for malware.
Any suggestions gratefully appreciated!
The wire to 407.selon html http://www.computing.net/answers/security/this-program-requires-a-missing-windows-codec/30 is originally by some kind of virus or Trojan. According to the original author, the problem disappeared after scanning with StopZilla http://www.stopzilla.com/

If I update to Windows XP Pro tp will be I have compatibility problems of program - as with Adobe Acrobat Pro 8, Adobe Photoshop, Corel Word Perfect X 3, 7 of MS Office, MS Project 10, Blackberry Desktop Manager, etc.. The facility will be transparent by keeping all of my existing files / content? I need to reload any program?
What version of Windows you are migrating towards?
Check the compatibility of each program by accessing the Web site of the Publisher. In addition, many companies, such as Adobe, have their own forums which will give experiences of other users to use a particular version of a program on a particular version of Windows.
If you upgrade to Windows 7 or Windows 8, you can use the compatibility of Microsoft here for a guide Center:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/win8/CompatCenter/Home?Language=en-US .
(I personally prefer to check sites and forums of the manufacturer however)
