Publish a movie in Windows Movie Maker prompts me to check my source files

Back from vacation, I can't publish a movie that I put in place. At the time of the failure, the system prompts me to check my source files, if the film is greater than 4 GB and the location I save the file. None of them are a problem, but I can't go beyond these points.

If someone has had this problem, and he overcame?

Large/complex projects are causing problems...

Might be interesting to try to create several small
projects and save each in a video format... then
Import the Group DVD Maker and each clip
will be becom a scene (chapter) on DVD-video.

Vista Movie Maker 6 or Live Movie Maker?

What format you publish/record in?

What is the duration of the project?

What are the formats of your source files?

Hello - I have created a movie using parts of various DVD and wide.  I am to convert each DVD in some parts of an .avi file, then the image preview to see what are the parts that I want in my film.  Say, for example, I have import a 80 MB, 10 minutes .avi file into movie maker.   I then split into clips manually using only a few pieces I want.  So on this file, only 1 minute is actually used in the film.  I remove all the remaining elements of movie maker letting those that I need, but these clips are always referencing the original 80 MB file.  So, I need to keep the file 80 MB on my hard drive just to use 8 MB of it in the film. This is forcing me to keep files on my computer when I only need part of it and could make my move over much bigger it must be.

Is it possible to export the individual after their separation clips so that the source files I need to keep is only the part of the clip I need?

When I save my project as a movie, he's going to bring to this large file 80 MB for the final version, or only the part of the file I need is?

Yes, the source files must be available... Movie Maker only

I made a movie of 30 minutes or more in WMM, some of the videos that I imported I had to convert to wmv, to import into WMM. Assuming that you are talking about Windows Movie Maker, not a 3rd party Director.

Take a look at your video file of 5 min.
What is the file format? The last 3 letters represent the file format.

Windows Movie maker will support only a small handful of video file formats:
Video files: .asf, .avi, .dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv

If you movie file format is not on the list above, you will need to google for a free video converter. No need to buy a. Free will do the job.
Use the converter and change the format of your movie file.
The best and most reliable way to convert is WMV format.

I'm just back up my data to 'library' files which explain probably about 150 GB. However, very quickly the external 500 GB drive is full

"After the backup is apparently running for a few hours I get the message:

"Check backup of disk space - that your backups are being saved on the disk is not enough free space".

I click on options, manage disk space for backup, it is said I can free disk space by removing backups of data files, but there is a "period of backup" listed

Under the Backup Configuration, I checked that only a set of 150 GB of data files are checked to save and "include an image of disk system" is not checked

    Hi casidougal,

I suggest you check the settings below.

To view and manage your backup disk space

    (a) open backup and restore by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click system and Maintenanceand then clicking backup and restore.

    (b) click on Manage space. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    (c) now under data backup file, click view backups.

Now, you would see the list of backup the value entered for each full backup, it should argued to the top entries.

You should also see the set of data that has been saved, do you think that any new data that has been defined by the options?

If your video file .wmv recorded are not resolution
you need... you may need to use a custom profile:

In Movie Maker... (assuming that your source files are high quality)
You can increase the resolution of your video by slideshow
using a custom profile when recording in .wmv movie format.

Personally, I find the following .wmv profile to be
    useful when recording movies.

Now for the creation of a DVD-video...

With the exception of the version of Windows Media Center
XP there is no native option to create a video DVD. You will have
need to acquire a DVD software for this task.

The following freeware can help you get started:

(FWIW) It's always a good idea to create a system
Restore point before installing software or updates)

    DVD Flick
    http://www.dvdflick.NET/Download.php
    (the download is: "dvdflick_setup_1.3.0.7.exe")

Save the file to a folder on your hard drive and
    install from there.

Be sure to read the Guide:

To create a video DVD base that should play in a free
permanent drive DVD... try the following...

First... read the DVD Flick Guide to familiarize
    with the program.

Open DVD Flick and insert a blank DVD in your drive.

If the window of Autorun from your computer... just close it.

Click the project settings button and check... Video /.
Target format... residents United States... Choose... NTSC /.
    Accept.

The title button left click Add and navigate to your
Video clips and select the ones you want on the DVD.

You can have by selecting one and then use
    the up and down buttons.

Left click on the button create DVD / OK / Yes / Yes.

Please wait while the DVD is created.

When the text "Completed successfully" is displayed you
DVD Flick can close. Now you can eject your DVD
and play in your DVD player.

At some point you might want to buy more
    Advanced Cyberlink, Nero, Roxio, software
Ulead, etc... but at least it is a start.

FWIW... the free Photo Story 3 is an also a great app
to easily create video slideshows with music.

  • How to save a project created in Windows movie maker on a flash drive in. MSWWW format instead of. WMV format?

If I understand well a previous answer, reinporting a project as mswmm allows rediting if the files are still on the computer.  Also, I am inclined to believe that the files remain available in the pane movie maker collections.  Am I wrong?

    ===========================================
When you save the project file... go to... File / save project as...
Give the file a name (Summer Vacation.mswmm) and choose
    your save location.

All the files (Photos, video clips, Audio clips) source should
appear on the USB key and if you have the intention of re - edit the
project on another computer... it should have the same
version of Movie Maker. Sometimes a later version of the film
Machine to will open the files but sometimes won't.

This is correct. MSWMM is a Movie Maker project file which is
is useful for a re-release in Movie Maker. And... the source files
(Photos, video clips, Audio clips) should be available in the
    original locations...
    ===========================================
    > Also, I am inclined to believe that the files remain available in the
    > movie maker collections pane.  Am I wrong?
    ===========================================
When a. MSWMM file project opens the thumbnails...
remain available in the Collections of Movie Maker component as
as long as the Source, the files are available in the places that they
    were imported initially from.

If the source files have been moved, renamed, deleted or are
unavailable, the thumbnails in the component Collections
Movie Maker displays red Xs and the project cannot be
    edited.

If the source files are still available... it is possible that you may
Right-click the red Xs and navigate to the current location of the
the source files and restore the path.
