• I can't connect to my XP after a Windows Update.

  I kept my XP desktop PC when Windows has ceased its support. I can't remember where it was, but I don't know that I had already bought my old laptop Win7 (2009) at that time.

  I have not gone on the internet since this time - I think that my IE is IE8 - and I stand by every 3 or 4 months so it's not covered in dust.

  The main reason I keep it is that I am a Secretary of Club sport and all my old posters and others are recorded here but in format .pds (printing of luxury). The version will not work in Win7 and I thought the last PSDL was too much. So I kept it and if I needed to produce a poster I just print one off of the XP, as a guide.

  I turned on earlier but had to turn off as we had visitors. When I checked in shortly after, there was a warning to not cut the power because it was installing 3 of 10 updates. It was a surprise because I thought that MS had allowed XP to die a sad death.

  And now for the punch line - when I turned on, to the top of the Sign-In menu. When I try to enter my password, it has no effect, no cycle black blobs. I tried a wired keyboard and mouse, but still nothing.

  Is there anyone here who remember XP and who may well be able to help me, please?

  If it's Windows XP Professional try pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete twice and try to connect to the classic logon screen, or try Safe Mode and see if you can connect.

• Cannot migrate VM between 5.5 ESXi versions: the version of the product to the destination host does not support one or several CPU features

  We receive an error message that I am trying to make sense. I understand very well the notion of compatibility, CPU, CPUID, masking and so on, after working on a competitor hypervisor. However, this error seems wrong (or needs better wording) based on my understanding:

  This happened during the migration between two hosts ESXi with the same physical processors - in this case, a Westmere X 5650.

  The punch line seems to be: "the product version of the destination host. However, I have trouble believing that support for these features have been added to ESXi between the two versions. If it were, VMware has been certainly silent about.

  For what it's worth, explicitly set us the CPUID masks in our virtual machines (no, CVS is not an option for us at this time.) This is the mask:

  Note that the bits of the message complains (2, 3, 14, 15) * are * in fact forced to '1' in our mask of cpuid.1.ecx. That means (if I understand correctly), ESXi does not have the virtual machine unless the host processor supports the feature. And in our case, the virtual machine will start with happiness on nodes, with both versions. It will be not simply migrate between them.

  So, long story short, is this a bug of ESXi? The error message is misleading? I understand something?

  To use the masks feature VM in this way, you must replace all the 1 to your masks with-'s:

  Zeros erases the features that are not available on your hosts Westmere, and dashes will leave the other one features.  The problem with those masks was forced to you certain features on who would have normally been off.

• Recording disabled after having accidentally automatic punch in and out

  Sorry if this is an obvious question, but I can't seem to find a way to get him...

  While he was recording an audio track, I clicked within the chronology of the creation of a white vertical line in the track where I clicked on a software instrument track. This triggered the auto punch and punch red car bar appeared (a feature that I have not yet used). I searched the community and learned activate you perforation auto off with control + Option + command + P... it turned off, but it also disabled the recording track.

  After turning off the auto punch, the track I was recording monitors still audio entering until what I hit the record button. But as soon as I click the button registration entrance monitoring turns off and no sound is recorded.

  You can also see this screenshot the cycle bar has yellowed a hollow. Why would that happen? (This auto punch after turning back, after accidentally allows it.) The track record on is "Ac guitar - R" - as you can see that track is selected, it seems to be enabled for the folder and 'I' is selected for an input control, but as I mentioned follow-up entry stops as soon as I click on the record button and nothing is recorded on the track...  But everything was going well until this thing of automatic punch.

  If someone with more experience can explain what happened so I can avoid it in the future, it would be a great help. Thanks in advance!

  I press play and playback starts from the position of the cursor instead of at the beginning of the range chosen cycle. (Ditto for trying to cycle-registration.)

  How can I turn on/off functionality of cycle to get cycling normally, with solid yellow bar?

  Also, I just leave the logic and reopened the project and tried to save a new game on a software instrument track and it will not save, even if the track is enabled for recording.

I have seen this problem with my L 100mm lens and my 16-35mm lens. If anyone has had this problem before or have any idea what can be wrong?

  Hi Lindy.  You have a little 'dust' on your sensor (only in this case, it looks like a little hair).

  It is easily fixed.

  See page 279 of your manual owner who describges how to clean the sensor.

  I do, however, is recommended that before making an automatic cleaning cycle, you remove the lens and point it at the ground - it's that this bit of hair has a place to go when she falls... other than to find another location inside your camera.

  After cleaning, punch the camera a plain white wall (or ceiling) and take a photo (it doesn't even have to be developed).  Dust looks better to the high apertures (it'll be more blurry at the bottom diaphragms).

  Sometimes automatic cleaning is not sufficient and you need to do something more.  If this is the case, then see page 283 for "manual sensor cleaning.  This simply causes the camera to turn off the sensor, but open the shutter (and keep open) so that you can inspect and clean.  If you look inside, what you REALLY see are the two filters in front of the sensor.  The before filter is one that vibrates (using a piezoelectric effect) to "shake up" loose dust.

  I use a variety of techniques... the easiest and safest is to use a fan simple hand - squeeze (bulb) as a Giottos Rocket Blower.  I recommend that you use no compressed air cans, because the liquid propellant in the boxes can spray if the can is shaken or not held perfectly level and that leaves a residue on the filter (and the only way that come out is to wet - clean the filter).  Even air compressors spray water and oil.  A hand blower pressed is the safest option.

  If this does not work, I use a small, extremely soft brush.  They do actually brushes that plug in to release static electricity so that if something is stuck because of the electrostatic control will be released if all goes well.

  If this does not work, I use a range of sensor to inspect my sensor and get a better understanding of why he won't not always free (because usually there now) and wet then clean the sensor using photographic Solutions sensor swabs 'brand' and 'Eclipse', cleaning solution.  The solution is almost pure methenol which means it evaporates quickly and leaves no residue.

  My guess is a simple manual cleaning (with the camera pointed at the ground) - or - a hand blower pressed will probably do the trick.  If you use a brush, give this brush some good solid shots on the edge of a counter or table to shake the dust that could be on the brush - because you do not want to add to dust on the sensor you're trying to blow that hair.

  More 'real' camera records (company mainly to sell stores and material service photo - not large areas that are also sell cameras) offers sensor cleaning, but there is usually a charge related to that.  It is pretty easy to learn how to clean the sensor (which is why Canon has a section in the owner's manual) and it is something photographers have to do... only occasionally.

  I think you are taking the wrong approach.  You try to identify the periods not allowed as the gaps between the authorized periods and then see if punch took place in a non-authorised period.  It seems that it would be easier to find the punches that didn't take place during authorized periods, which is what I did in response #1 two weeks ago, and you said which produces erroneous results anyway.  If I understand the problem now, not only must the in-punch out - Punch of each line in certain authorized period, the two hallmarks of this line must be in the same period allowed, where a 'permitted period' is 1 or more lines of the worktimings tables and/or overtime which overlap, or at least have not a gap between them.  This is what the query in response #10.  The column new_shift (calculated in the subquery called got_new_shift) identifies if a work period begins a period authorized or not, seeking at all times of previous work via the analytical MAX function).  If all of these earlier periods ended before the beginning of the current, then (and only then) it starts a new period authorized.  The following subquery, got_shift_num, uses the analytical ACCOUNT works to see how many authorized periods have started to date, indicating which authorized period each work period belongs.  Once we know, we can use the functions MIN and MAX of aggregation for a fine when each authorized period begins and ends.  This is what the movement of subquery combined.

  I have a brand new video software 13 items and it's so bad I want it punch and throw it on a building and then break into pieces. But then I'm like, wait, I paid $ 70 for it. However, the files record well and when I open the project again, I notice of offline media.   After recording close a project and reopen it, you receive messages ' where is the file _? If Yes...

  a. don't move you, delete or rename files and folders that went into the project after you have saved and closed the project? When you import media items first, all you get are copies of the originals that are saved on the hard drive of the computer. The project needs to trace these originals to their disk hard saving location.

  b. where do you store the files that you import into the project? If an external hard drive is the disk formatted correctly for your computer? The external hard drive does not work properly?

  Keep in mind that whenever you make the timeline content to get the best possible overview, the project automatically generates the preview files that eat up hard drive space. But, we can discover only later. Great thought now is that you are not all files and folders, moving, deletion or name change.

  You can use these messages of 'Where is the file _?' is to reconnect the project with the files. But you need to know where the files are? Are they still in their disk hard saving location? If so, you point each message to the correct location for the file that calls for the message. If you're lucky, to comply with a single message can trigger reconnects for several at a time.

• Best way to make drawings from scratch line

  Hi and I apologize if one fundamental question, but I created a complex illustration, and I wonder if there is a faster way to go of are first attached image to the second transparent. I feel like I spend a lot of monotonous time, following a model less before and make a compound path to set the black background for a new series of carvings. All black in the picture is a filled shape, encompassing the whole of the back of the hotel, while white is white fill blocking the black space, or other white objects below.

  How can I clean up my Act? Or what would be a better strategy from the beginning to achieve a transparent line drawings?

  I sincerely thank you for your answers, I'm losing too much time here, I know. Happy to clarify any details left!

  Your basic problem is you aren't working methodically and planning as you go. You draw a large number of paths willy-nilly until the whole drawing is "done" just in terms of how it looks on the screen and thinking you look just with how inevitiable decisions it revolves on a technical level subsequently. You discover that you have created a number of unwieldy and confusing objects that you hope to solve in constructions more simple (so predictable) understandable in last step.

  It is much better to have in mind what kind of constructions and General Organization, you want to end up with and work toward that, completely finishing (cutting, Union, etc.) each developed in consequence article you go. This way you avoid the confusion between yourself and creating extra work later when you think you are finished with the line work and wishes to draw the fills. While you work, always keep in mind what type of objects you create: every path is either open or closed, filled or unfilled, striped or contour, simple or compound.

  Drawings like this can be organized in different ways. None are 'good' or 'bad '; but you created frustration are time consuming when you are unable to plan for her:

  • All the line drawings fully trimmed, without resorting to the fillings in a box 'hide' unwanted portions of the book of the line in another area. A stack separated from outline of the objects behind the line work to create the color fill. (This method can greatly simplify the issue of trapping). Some users still prefer to create all the fillings on one or more separate layers (although it is not necessary to do so).
  • The linework drew more willy-nilly, intending to use the LivePaint make adjusting, completing later. Some users live and die by this method. I have not, because all these invariably automated routines create what would otherwise be unnecessary additional anchorPoints, and resulting simply fills "kiss" of their work to the adjacent string, rather than their base. Which may require more elaborate trapping.
  • Work to the chain and shared by the same paths fillings. Sections of the work dealt with in distinct groups (Group of helmet, visor group, etc.) An advantage to work in this way, it is that the overlaps resulting allow the relative position of the parts to be tweaked later.

  Yet once, it is not a method of organization is good or bad; the fact is that, like it or not, the vector drawing is all about creating a battery of independent objects. It is fundamentally different from the "painting" in a raster imaging program. By its very nature, it imposes a need intelligent Organization of this stack. So you are always much better at least generally this inevitable organization planning, no matter which scheme you choose. Unceremoniously to the design approach is antithetical to the nature of the vector drawing.

  For example, consider the designs of the sheet on the visor. You attract them (evident in your screenshot of second and third), spread in an adjacent area where you intend to be partially hidden by a white fill in front of them. There is nothing of strictly 'evil' to work in this way (although I think it is messy), but it suggests that you want to build your drawing according to the third organizational scheme described above. But that conflicts with your tent to correctly solve your line work through automated routines (mode strokes, Boolean path operations plan) later whidh is more suitable for the first method of organization described above. To use these automated features will result in some places, the unwanted portions to re - appear as the stack object changes (as you can see it occurred in your third-party screenshot). So now you have things to cut away. You have created extra work for yourself.

  Where you are, based on your first screenshot, you can try this:

  1. Select all
  2. Object > path > outline strokes
  3. Select all
  4. Pathfinder palette: Merge (unions touch fills with the same color and overlapping objects of a different color in punch)
  5. Make the necessary adjustment and correction of the unwanted stuff that was previously hidden.
  6. Make the necessary corrections of the sense of the trace or winding or mixture to return rule fills voids or vice versa.
  7. Create your objects to fill behind the line work, or use trace to create.

  Due to the number of runaway from the paths that you drew, you have lot to do all of the steps above. If so, try to work in several "sections". for example, with the black marquee pointer select through a half or a third of the drawing, do the steps, then repeat for the other third, and so on.

  And don't worry... After you did this kind of tedious cleaning afterwards on a few projects, you will begin to understand the principles of advance planning in the organizational structure of your drawings and start that keeping in mind as you proceed. We've all been there.

  I upgraded to Sierra and for some reason any in Mac Mail, the subject line has completely disappeared. I can see part of it in the preview to the left, as well as the sender and first line or more. How to make the subject line in the view on the far right in Mac Mail?

  OMG I can't believe that everything they did was move and remove the label: "subject"! It appears right under the sender and before "to: I was so use to see above the gray line separating the headers from the body of the email, I was totally missing it! Thanks to all of you who have read my question!

• Just updated to Sierra and updated Pages at the same time. Now when I try to select a line of text I find myself with an insertion point where I stopped by selecting

  Today, I updated for Sierra and updated to the latest version of the Pages. Now I find that I am more able to select a line of text. When I try to do, I find myself with an insertion point where I stopped by selecting, but nothing is selected. This is a bug in the new version of pages or get my wrong settings?

  You use a Wacom tablet by chance?

  Solution: Press the shift key, just before stop selection. And Yes, that sounds like trouble in the Sierra.

• Weird lines and do not wake

  My computer has been acting since weird transition to macOS Sierra. When you log in you get these weird lines. They do not always. Also, I noticed when disconnection and pushing the standby button it wake up and I have to stop it and start it up. I didn't want to reinstall sierra. Who took about two days.

  FWIW I've updated 2 old iMac and several other year of the Mac Mini to Sierra. Each of them updated in less than 30 minutes and no having problems or ill consequences.
