QNAP 459 pro + > nfs share > Super vmdk

Ciao, come da oggetto ho is (Luca want by it support) it Qnap 459 pro + ad a host esxi 4.1

Ho creato raid unico di 8TB UN volume, ho creato some nfs share che wants to employ by delle vm

Ad ogni modo, not ricordo male he problema e che he block size del volume ext4 formattato dal qnap e di 4 KB instead 8 KB servirebbe come by it 2 TB

Corretto e?

Grazie by it support

Ciao

Mirko

  • ESXi 5.0 servers don't recognize that same NFS share to the same data store

I have a setup of vSphere 5.0 running VMware Workstation 8.  I have two ESXi servers that are accumulating the same NFS share (with the same IP address and the same directory path), but for some reason, they don't recognize it as the same data store.  I deleted and added to the data store again and checked that I am getting the same way on both nodes.  However, vSphere don't let me use the same name when I ride sharing NFS as a data store on the second node. vSphere changes the name of "NFSdatastore" to "NFSdatastore (1)" and will not let me change, say that the name already exists.

The NFS file server is a VM of 2.99 OpenFiler, which IP 192.168.0.100 (and is in DNS as "openfiler1").  The path is "/ mnt/vsphere/vcs/datastore.

The NFS mount works great as a data store on the two servers ESXi, except for the fact that vSphere sees two data stores.  I have a Red Hat VM running on each of them, and when I browse the data of each ESXi Server store, I can definitely see two configs VM, as well as a few ISO images that I put on the NFS share.  However, I can't vMotion as he complains about not being able to access the configuration file and the file virtual disk (vmdk) of the other node.

On the OpenFiler, the directory/mnt/vsphere/vcs/datastore is the property of "ofguest" in the "ofguest" group, and the permissions are "drwxrwsrwx +".  All files under the directory are also held by "ofguest" in the group "ofguest".  Vmx files have permissions "rwxr-xr-x + ', and the vmdk files have permissions ' rw +-

I did a lot of Google search, read best practices, etc.  Any help is appreciated.

  • VDR - addition of network NFS share

    Hello

I've set up an NFS share on a Dell NAS running Windows Storage Server 2008 and Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS) to provide a UNIX user name mapping to Windows.

I can add that the NFS share as a data store for my ESXi host with no problems; but for some reason, I can't not add that the same NFS share a device VDR running on an ESXi host, even if this host is the one running the VDR!

When you add a NFS datastore to a host, the dialog box wonder following:

    • Server: '111.222.333.444.
    • File: 'MyNFSShare. '
    • The data store name: "MyNFSDatastore."

When you add a destination to the VDR, dialog box asks me what follows:

    • URL: '\\111.222.333.444\MyNFSShare '.
    • Username: "< sharing NFS Username >".
    • Password: '< shared NFS Password >.

I also tried to enter the vCenter administrator user credentials but it makes no difference, and the newspaper of the events on the NAS server reports a successful security event "Audit success" for the connection of the user anyway.

Anyone can shed some light on this?

VDR accepts no NFS as destinations, but it does not accept CIFS.  So, instead of trying to add a NFS target, add a windows share real using windows (or domain) credentials.

I too seem to get best performance of an instance of NFS Linux than Windows, I think because the implementation of Windows isn't technical compliance.  If I watch the console while doing a vmdk format hosted on a Windows based NFS target the connection seems to constantly go in and out.  I now running on a Windows 2008 R2 server and it works well enough for my purposes, that hosting the vmdk VDR so I can their riffle on tape.

  • Removal of the NFS shares in the underlying filesystem FS7500

According to literature online of the FS7500, deleting an NFS share a NAS container deletes data from the drive. I discovered that it is not. To recreate:

    1. create an nfs share directory ' / test ' named 'test '.

    2. Mount on a client and add some data

3 umount and delete nfs share in Group Manager

    4 create a new share nfs with a directory ' / test ' named 'used2.

5 try to mount "used2", get a permission error

6 mount the old name 'testing' and see the content of the / test directory

    Firmware FS7500 is 2.0.4720, PS6100 have 6.0.2.

Is there a way to delete the underlying directory at the root of the container?

I opened a ticket, but I want to see if I can get something that others can find and use later.

    Hello

The version you are using is old, the SF and the EQL table.  I could update the table EQL 6.0.8 and the FS at 2.0.7630 and see if that solves your problems.

There are a few important fixes for both devices.

  • What "unmapped user access" for NFS share in Windows Server 2008 R2?

In the beginning, I followed this Youtube video to set up an NFS share in Windows Server 2008 R2:

    https://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=BQ8Q_vsiksg

Please note that the default option to allow to access Unix unmapped user is not changed (to about 1 min 57 sec).

Then I found another article at http://www.vmwarearena.com/2012/07/create-nfs-datastore-for-esx-in-windows.html

But in this article, I like to select allow anonymous access (instead of allow access Unix unmapped user).

So who is correct?  Or both are correct (which means that this 'unmapped user access' is not serious)?

And why should we have to allow root access (in the NFS share permissions dialog box)?  What a security risk?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Cannot add the NFS share to store Cluster data

    Hello

    I have this scenario:

Server - FREENAS with NFS share

    -cluster with 2 guests

I added the NFS datastore successfully to each host in the cluster. The problem is when I try to add the NFS Datastore for the Cluster data store, I get the error: a specified poarameter was not correct. datastore.info.type.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

Datastore1 and datastore2 data warehouses are data warehouses local? If so, you must remove these storages of data added before the NFS datatore to the cluster, first cause a cluster cannot be VMFS and NFS on the same cluster and second cause without making sense have warehouses of local data within a cluster data store.

You have configured the Windows NFS share like that?

  • NFS share for one (1) added when adding to a new host in the existing data center

I'm sure it's a simple answer, but I've been beating my head on the wall, trying to find a solution. The scenario is as follows:

1 Vcenter has several hosts in different groups. All built at the same time with a NFS share that is shared among all.

    2. I add a new host to the data center (I tried independently and also added to a cluster as well).

    3. the new host sees its local disk as a data store, as expected, but I have to add the shared NFS datastore.

    4. at the level of the host, I go to configuration-storage-add storage and the NFS share.

It shows and normal with NFS (1) as the name. I can't rename it as it says THAT NFS already exist. I understand that there are in the vcenter DB, but how to add this new host or host an existing environment and maintain the name of the NFS share? vCenter 5.5, 5.5 esxi

We have an NFS share on our Windows 2003 server to serve the ISOs for virtual machines

However if we have attached an ISO to a virtual machine and configured to boot from it, it does not find the ISO, just attempts to boot from the network, but if copy us the ISO in a data store local it will start and install correctly.

ESXi must connect to the NFS share with the root account.  You will have to map the root login to an account on the Windows Server.   You can see a sample of the instructions here - http://www.sohoadvisers.com/tutorials/vmware-esxi/connect-esxi-to-windows-nfs.
