Qosmio G10 - "noisy" red screen at boot

I get a "noisy" red screen rather than on a black background while booting. During use, wallpaper is a mass of verticle blue lines.
18 months ago, I had to replace the motherboard due to lines red verticle - cost of £400.

Does a similar problem?

Hmm seems not good boyfriend
To me it sounds like a graphics card problem have you noticed the same thing on the external monitor?
If Yes, then the graphics card might be faulty.

  • Qosmio G10-137: blue screen after re-install using Recovery CD

    Hi all

just got my qosmio G10-137 earlier this week after being under repair since the beginning of the month of January! Guys made the repair found no better then install the Dutch version of the operating system. I don't like this, then I took out my recovery CD and began the recovery. Everything works fine and I am asked to remove the media and reboot my PC.

This beautiful laptop to start early and... Blue screen of death. Restarts, wonder how to restart... count up to normal reboot... BSOD... restarts, wonder how... I choose "Safe Mode"... BSOD... I choose the mode safe mode with prompt... the system.ini file is missing!

It seems that the recovery CD is bogus.

If someone has encountered this? Does anyone have any resolution?

    Kind regards
    Wim

    Hello

It s very strange because the recovery CD was tested and install several times. It should work without any problems.
I put t know where you come from, but the service partner should install the Windows operating system in the same language. In this case, if you bought the device in Dutch the recovery CD and the OS are in the Dutch language.
Please note that you must use the same recovery CD that came with the device. Another recovery CD will not work.
What you can do is to test the unit with an original CD of Microsoft Windows. It would be very interesting to know if the blue screen appears with the original Windows.

  • Qosmio G10 134: the screen freezes after repair

    Hello

Earlier my Qosmio G10 had to be repaired because of the vertical-bars-in-screen-and-broke-down-videocard-problem. They gave me a new motherboard and Nvidia Go 6600 and the problem was solved. I hoped... Because then I couldn't not to use the graphics card for more than 5 minutes.

When I start playing a game, or so it takes 5, maybe 10 minutes in mind for my screen to freeze. Then precious is unresponsive to anything, even to the Microsoft-Magic-Combination-Ctrl-Alt-Del. very annoying to say the least... Does this sound familiar to anyone?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hello

I agree with the agramer. It is possible to s that you got different but better graphics card. On this page, I read that some users who repaired the laptop got a different card because the original of the delivered graphics card was off live.

In this case, you should check your device for details of the map Manager and if necessary, you must install the right graphics card driver.

  • Qosmio G10-105: the screen is black

I was asked to look at a Qosmio G10-105 by a friend who claims that it functioned very well until one day "the screen went black.

It seems to start fine but there is absolutely no image on the screen with backlight, no and no image "Dim". The problem is that when I plug in an external display there is also no image at all however becomes the external display backlit, but that's all.

Can I assume that this is neither the inverter, backlight screen or I get no image on an external display?

Is it likely to be the graphics card? If so, is it replaceable or it is part of the motherboard?

    I tried 2 external displays

Any help / ideas would be appreciated...

    Thank you
    Rob

    > Is it likely to be the graphics card? If so, is it replaceable or it is part of the motherboard?
Hmm. It really looks like a graphics card problem
It was a good idea to connect the external monitor to check if the same problem would appear on the second screen that there is a simpler way to find out if this problem could be linked to the TFT screen or the graphics card.

The GPU chip set on the motherboard and in most cases (in your case too) the whole motherboard must be replaced :(

Unfortunately, but it looks like an expensive affair :(

  • Qosmio G10 lines on screen

A week ago the screen began to play up

At first there were the lines on the screen and then ghost images on all the objects on the screen

After restarting several times the lines began to appear at startup from the bios, screen and they are still there now!

I reformatted the HARD anf reloaded windows disc but when I try to install the windows blue screen of death has display driver and I can't see the error msg

I tried two Toshiba drivers and updated nvidia drivers - both will not install

I ran PC diag test and the display fails this test

    Any help would be great!

    Hello

Have you tried to plug the external monitor?
If the lines appear on the external monitor, so I guess there must be something wrong on the motherboard or with the graphics card.
If the lines appear on the external monitor not so maybe only a faulty display.
I don't think you can solve this problem without any help. In my opinion, you should contact the Toshiba ASP in your country.
Explain your display problem and I don't know the guys are going to solve this problem.

  • Qosmio G20 screen is comatible with display Qosmio G10?

    Hello

Dose anyone know if the screen Toshiba Qosmio G10 is compatible with the Toshiba Qosmio G20?

    Thank you guys

    Of
    Sweet

    Hello

I think display of the G20 should be compatible with the Qosmio G10 display.
I searched a bit and found that the Qosmio G10-100 PQG10E was fitted with the 17 "WIDE XGA LCD.
The Qosmio G20-101 PQG20E supports the same 17 "WIDE XGA display.

Therefore, it seems that both units use the same screen.

  • Qosmio G10 begins with vertical lines on the screen

    Hello, can anyone help?

When I try to start my sign qosmio G10 comes on with vertical lines on the screen. And the screen goes black and I can only hear the fan.
In VGA mode, it begins upward, but always with the lines on the screen.
Is there something wrong with the video card? In my view, that there are more people with this problem.
    Toshiba offered little help?

I'm 'out out of warranty '. I need to by a new complete motherboard or y at - it another option? Replace the video card?

    Hello

Its a shame about the warranty because you ask the service partner Toshiba for the verification of the laptop and this procedure would be free. You know, the warranty would cover the audit of the laptop.

But I would say the external display connection and then you can check if the same vertical lines appear on the external display.
If you see the lines on the second monitor, then I guess it could be something wrong with the graphics card or motherboard.

I think that this procedure is the best way to find out what could be the problem, but anyway, I think you should ask a technician for assistance if you want to solve this problem.

PS: Have you tried to reinstall or update the graphics driver? I think you should do it but I don't know if it will help you, but you know Mr. try is free ;)

One of my friends had a similar problem with the vertical lines on other mobile manufacturing, and it was a WLan cable which was responsible for the strange lines on the screen.

  • Qosmio G10 white screen at startup

I have an old Qosmio G10 I bought from a dealer in Beijing about 2 years ago.

After about a year of use at home, I discovered that the screen would turn sometimes white when the screen was moved or shake.
Some days it works perfectly well, it wouldn't even start without going white.

Towards the end the screen would show only a picture when the screen was put in a certain angle.
Now, the screen will just white the second I turn it on.
I look at a material problem here or there have been known to have software problems with some of the similar laptops?

    Thank you

    T

    Hey Buddy,

Looks like that the display cable may be loose. I point to a hardware problem, but before you send your machine to an authorized service partner, go to a technician from the local computer and him to check the cables on the screen.

If realignment of cables does not help while your display is faulty and should be replaced by an authorized partner. I Don t know how long your warranty is, but if you want even when to send your machine to a service partner, you should visit the following link to find the one closest to your country:

  • Qosmio G10: Blue screen shot and later endless reboot

    Hello!

I found similar topics on this problem, but they were locked and left unanswered.

My problem is this: I have not changed of _anything_ in the BIOS for a log time. I have not installed new software or hardware lately. And I have not damaged my computer or anything like that. A few days ago I read a Web page when my computer turns off suddenly. It turned on automatically, then it asks me how to restart... count up to normal restart... the blue screen of death... restarts, wonder how... I choose "Safe Mode"... BSOD. I press F8 and try all possible options, but the result is always the same.

A blue screen indicates: "MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION" or something like that. I'll send more information about blue screens later and more machine ID.

If someone has any idea what happed and how this could be fixed, do not hesitate to write.

I can't access Windows and I won't use CD recovery (yet) because I need to save some data to the HARD drive first.

I say it's all simply amazing. Graphics card a year ago broke down (blue/green vertical lines, fans are going full throttle) and now this! This is the 2nd time in two years when Qosmio brokes suddenly.

Ok. Here's some additional context information.

My laptop Qosmio G10-105, model PQG10E-01D016FSR. After disassembly I was not able to access the windows more - not again. Several times that I managed to get into SafeMode so far, I was able to see the text "Safe mode" in every corner of the Welcome screen, but then it crashes. Once or twice the same in normal mode, Windows on the Welcome screen appears, but then it crashes immediately. In these crashes, blue screen says "MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION" or 'PFN_LIST_CORRUPT' and landfills fysical memory on disk.

If she does not get there and computer falls down at the beginning (even if the Windows loading screen) it restarts all computer instantly. Sometimes, he does not screen blue but says the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM. This error can appear four or five times in a row then it tries to start normally, but blue screen crashes again.

I can't find any logic in the accident, nor a way to avoid. It seems that various errors appear randomly. I would like to know if it is a crash HARD drive or something else. Other information are also welcome.

  • Purple stripes on screen Qosmio G10 106

    Hello
All of a sudden my Qosmio G10 - 106 has started to show me purple stripes when I turn it on, it me does not start then I reinstalled Windows on the 2nd partition. This allowed me to start then, but the lines persist. Anyone had same problem and if so, please advise me a solution that I am not covered by the guarantee as it exprired last October.
    See you soon

    Hello

I recommend you test with the external monitor. If the external monitor doesn't show the same there is a problem with the display and you must contact the partner of service authorized in your country.

  • Problem of graphics card on Satellite P20 552 & Qosmio G10

    Hallo,

    I have two 17-inch monitors computers laptop Toshiba as desktop replacement: 1 x Satellite P20 552 & 1 x Qosmio G10.
Both are dead graphics card problem.
The conclusion of my research on the WEB, it's the nVidia FX Go5700 card seems to be the weak point of these laptops.

On the Satellite Map dies slowly: during startup Toshiba logo disappeared but WinXP logo was very good load, then WinXP loaded with the screen not refreshing and the problem of synchronization, etc..
The Qosmio died suddenly: activities on the hard drive I guess load WinXP, but black screen (internal and external)!

I know that, unlike the desktop computer, the graphics processor is not a separate entity; It is built into the motherboard. My questions are:

    (1) who should be blamed, Toshiba or Nvidia?
    (2) how to prevent premature rupture of the card/motherboard?
    (3) the card/motherboard could be repaired?

    Hallo

I have red Satellite P20 304 and it still works well. Maybe you can offer this story to someone else, but I can say that Satellite P20 is great for laptop. I like it. Old, but still has an attractive design.
If you have no luck I can understand it but to talk in general and write about weakness is for me nothing more than absurd.

Nice questions here especially one. :)
1 - to blame someone will help any. Try to get the replacement and get it working again.
    2. There is nothing you can do. All you can do is to take care of the use of the laptop and do not overheat.
    3. as far as I know that something like this is not possible. In this case the motherboard will be replaced.

What you can do is to check eBay from time to time. You may be lucky and you can buy used motherboard for a good price and exchange it.

  • Qosmio G10-100 - failed afer replacement with larger HARD drive HARD drive

Following a failure in a Qosmio G10-100 HARD drive, I replaced the HD 80 GB IDE current with a 160 GB IDE drive. After execution of the recovery of the DVD, new HARD drive has been formatted and installed the software (later proved by removing the drive and treat as an exterrnal disk on another PC).

However, on booting, the machine has recognized that it was another hard drive and it wouldn't let me go beyond the screen that offers alternatives (Safe Mode, etc.), nor what would allow me access.

    Counsel gratefully received

    > After running the recovery DVD, new HARD drive has been formatted and installed the software (later proved by removing the drive and treat as an exterrnal disk on another PC).

Sorry mate but I put t understand what you did exactly
You have installed the Windows operating system on the new HARD drive by using the recovery disk. Right?
Well, the recovery procedure has completed correctly? The operating system has been successfully installed?

Did repeat the installation of the OS?
If this is not the case, repeat!

  • Qosmio G10 106 will not start

My Qosmio g10 primer not. I am getting white vertical lines on each side of the qosmio splash screen. If I try to boot from the drive, the screen turns white with a cursor blinking in the upper right.

I can't boot into SafeMode either. One of the suggestions, as the machine is longer under warranty and I suspect that it is maybe the motherboard is dead.

    Hello

It's not easy to tell exactly what part is wrong, but in my opinion there must be definitely something wrong with the hardware.
I t can give you an appropriate response to the fault, but I recommend asking Toshiba service for opinion. It should have more experience in these matters.
The service partner could start some diagnostic tests can locate the fault.

  • Install Mandriva on Qosmio G10

I have a Qosmio G10 with two 80 GB drives.
A (d: drive under Win XP, NTFS formatted for the moment) is empty and intended for the installation of Mandriva.
I have absolutely no experience with Linux.
I downloaded the ISO on the Mandriva site file and burned to a DVD.
I put the computer to boot from DVD - ROM first.
If I try to install Mandriva, the DVD starts, then I get a black screen with white characters (style BACK) sometimes something, but then the Linux boot drop-outs and switches from Win XP computer once more. Everything happens very quickly, so I can't really say if a message appears on the screen.

I read that Mandriva takes care of both the bootloader and re - format the disk for use of Linux.

Can someone help me with this please?

    Of course, I forgot something.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Well, as far as I know if you want to install Linux on the second partition, first you must format this partition for Linux help. In this case, I suggest using the Partitions Magic 8. It's very nice program to create and managed partitions.
But it seems that you are not a teacher of Linux. Well, I recommend using the other Linux distribution. Try to use the Knoppix. It is a system live bootable CD or DVD.
You do not need to install something. It starts from the CD/DVD.

    Check this box:
