Qosmio G30 - Win XP fails to start, graphic problem?

Hello

I left my G30 in mode 'sleep' to save some pgms TV while I was away. On my rtn, it didn't take but tried to restart instead. When the start screen of windows [with the progress meter] came on the display screen has been corrupted. After a short time (20 seconds or more), I got an error msg [not long enough to read entirely] then it turned off and restarted.

I can get into 'safe mode' is not a problem so suspect a driver is corrupted. If that one or is it something else? I tried to restore them or restoring points but without success. All prior to my vacation.

Any suggestions welcome

Mark

Hello

The fact is that in safe mode, you have access to only basic files and drivers.
This means that this graphics card runs in low mode without using the common graphics card driver.
I agree with the previous user, it could be a problem of graphics chip symptoms described in your message this would confirm

I think that it s time technician ASP :(

  • Qosmio G30 white screen when you start Windows XP

Hi everyone - first time poster here!

Today I turned on my Qosmio Toshiba G30 as I normally do, except that this time, the screen remained blank. Normally, the start of Qosmio screen appears with the music of Qosmio, but only Qosmio music out... no image on the screen! The computer continues to boot properly, but nothing has been posted.

I panicked and I thought I'd need to buy a new computer...

While I was on the phone with a friend to a support, I pressed the "TV Out" button (found in the upper right corner). That's it - the screen turned on, but all my icons have been reorganized.

I tried to reinstall the display driver, but this is still the case every time that I reboot. The problem occurs not when putting the computer to sleep and look upwards again.

Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thank you...

    Hello

Check if the video output has not been set for external monitor or TV.
You can change this by using the FN + F5 key combination.

I also recommend to connect an external monitor to the laptop.
Maybe you have defined somehow (accidentally) the external display as the primary display?  :|

However, you are using Win XP as I m wrong not the laptop has been pre-installed with Vista. (is it true?)
Maybe you should take a recovery disk Toshiba and must be reinstalled the self-image of Toshiba.

  • Win 8 failed to start 0xc00021a error

I have recently (he, in fact two days ago) bought a brand new HP with Windows 8 desktop pre-installed. It worked fine for a few days, but one day that it started up to the blue screen with the error code 0xc00021a. The computer went through his process of auto repair, but it failed. I tried refreshing the PC; which also failed. I tried the system restore, but because it was a new computer, it also did not work. I've read through the forums of HP and I tried their starting Test hardware diagnosis (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03513214&tmp_track_link=ot_faqs/top_issues/en_us/c03513214/loc:2 & cc = us & dlc = en & lang = en & lc = en & product = 5297069 #N281) but he went. The only option that seems to have is to reset my PC but I have some important files on it. Are there other solutions?

    Thank you very much

    Hello.

Since this is a new computer check with the seller and the HP Support for warranty repair or
Replacement. Keep in mind do you more they tell you it's something you
have done so. Added that, even if you are somehow able to solve the problem he must continue to
be documented in the case of other related problems on the road.

If the player does not, then you would need professional services recovery to recover the
data. Check with a real computer store (one that makes the service in the House and no leeks and)
Displays a Best Buy or other stores) or system manufacturer support.

Since it's disk associated with a way to back up your data would be to put the hard drive
on another computer as 2nd drive (best method) or '' probably '' in an external USB drive
(less likely to work in this case) case. Or the other may allow you to copy the data to removable
media such as CD, DVD and other USB drives. Of course a real store of the computer or system
Maker can help recover data. There are certainly professional data recovery companies
    These services are usually expensive.

There are bootable discs, such as those who use linux, which will start and you may be able
    back up the data.

  • Graphic problem and reset on Qosmio G30

    Hello

    My Qosmio G30 collapsed.

It started with the screen do stripes of color everywhere, and it came and went over time.
Sometimes the screeen had completely black, while the computer is still working proparly.
I know then that in videomeeting I could still continue with the participants when the screen went black.
    The noise was still there.

After that the graphics stoped to work anywhere and I thought I had some kind of virus. When testing for reset the computer with the reset product CD I can't finish rebooting. The computer formatted the hard drive, but no new operating system has been installed, so I'm in big trouble :(

The GPU (what is it?  :() seems to have a link of the week in the G30 judging by other discussions in this forum.

Anyone has an idea on how I could solve this problem?

    Best regards / Anders Molin

    Hello

GPU means that the graphic processing unit-> it's just graphic chip card

According to you the message chip the graphics card may be defective.
If you are not able to restore the laptop using the Toshiba Recovery then CD I would recommend contact the ASP in your country for assistance.

In the worst case (GPU is a shame), the motherboard should be replaced.

    Good luck

  • Cannot start windows on Qosmio G30

    Hello

I have a Qosmio G30 and I can't start windows XP MCE. When I start the computer, I see first is the screen "Qosmio" and there is no problem but when Windows starts, I see the logo and the background is filled with white dots. After that, windows logo disappears and the lines is still there. Finally, the screen goes black.

I formatted the computer and reinstalled windows, everything worked fine until I rebooted. Unfortunately, the problem is still there.

I can connect to windows if I hit F5 when booting up and then choose "safe mode".

    What can I do?

    Hello

Have you installed the operating system from the recovery CD delivered?
I asked because it sounds a little like a graphics card or graphics driver problem.

    > I can connect to windows if I hit F5 when booting up and then choose "safe mode".
This is possible because the graphics driver is not loaded in windows safe mode and OS uses the common Microsoft driver.

I would recommend the boot safe mode and then delete the preinstalled graphical driver.
The new driver can be downloaded from the page of tosh.

But if this procedure doesn't help and the strange lines appear again, I guess that the malfunctioning of the graphics chip
In this case the laptop must be checked by a technician

  • Cannot start update BIOS on Qosmio G30

    Hello

I ve a Qosmio G30-188 (PQG30E) and after a few problems and a few messages that I read on the internet I wanted to update my BIOS. So I went to the page of the selected Toshiba driver my laptop downloaded the update to the BIOS, but it does not work.

Whenever I get the error that this BIOS is not supported for my computer. After some more try to install it, I started to wonder. Then I found the option where a Toshiba tool can find what laptop you automatically. So it has detected the same laptop I chose before and the BIOS-update, he gave, it was the same that I already found.

So I got the same problem again.
The version of the BIOS that I have is: acpi bios ver 1.40

Someone has ideas how to upgrade the BIOS?

  • Qosmio G30-204 - design of brick at startup

    Hi people I have a Qosmio G30-204.

On start its got this design a little brick behind the logo and then Qosmio where writing starts to come, outgoing agent priming, etc., instead of the black screen, its black and yellow lines most of them 4 yellow straight lines.
After that windows Vista won't sign and it will remain as a black screen.

It works in safe mode and the design that comes at the beginning, there will be a design similar to the desktop, any window, I opened.

    Could be my graphics card?

    Hello!

It is difficult to understand, but have you tried an external monitor on the laptop?
So you can make sure if it s a problem with the internal display or mother/graphics chip.

Maybe it s only a driver or software issue because you said it works in safe mode. Maybe you should try to update the display driver that you can find on the Toshiba site.

    Good bye

  • Black screen with windows to return to the scroll bar - Qosmio G30

    Hello

I was wondering if someone can help me. I have a Qosmio G30-161 and I encounter a few problems with it right now, every time I close the top of the laptop and leave it for about half an hour that I reopen the form and I get a black screen with a running scroll bar downstairs with the message saying "Resuming Windows to troubleshoot with windows press anyone." I let the scroll bar run its course and it goes back to the screen where it was before I close the lid. Can someone help me this is driving me crazy having to wait for the roll bar all the time, it has only recently begun.

I also have a problem concerning the closing of windows Explorer. Whenever I do this I get an error message "Error 217", this all started when I installed Norton Anti virus, I uninstalled this product and the problem resolved, I reinstalled norton and the problem came back.

    Anyway to solve this problem.

    Thank you very much.

First of all can you explain to me what should happen when you close the lid of the display?

In the settings of power at the moment is chosen the track option: when I close the lid to HIBERNATE. Please check this option on the tab stock setup and choose your preferred option.

I have no explanation for this Norton related issue. If Norton brand issues I recommend you to use other (better ;)) software.

    Good bye

  • Qosmio G30: black and white photo via the S-video input

    Hello

I have a Qosmio G30 Win XP MCE running. I'm watching the TV from my digi via S-video sky box in the port within the media library. The problem is that the picture is black and white and not very good (lots of interlacing artifacts).

I checked the driver for the 'TOSHIBA PCI DVB-T/Analog Tuner hybrid' and I am running the latest version of Toshiba, I also checked the output settings on my Sky box digi, which are correct. Is there a resolution?

    Thank you.

Have you noticed the same result with Qosmioplayer and MCE?

I think I have bad news for you.
According to your description the graphics card chip begins to malfunction, and I think you have only one chance to solve this problem; the defective part must be replaced!

I would recommend so contact the nearest authorized service partner in your country and ask for later handling.

  • Qosmio G30-204 starts with BSOD

    Hello

I have a toshiba Qosmio G30-204. It crashed last Friday night, I tried everything since then, including the system recovery disk, nothing seems too much work between the blue screen and a matrix effect in the back round (broken lines going down the screen) so that I erased two hard drives. Nothing seems to work, also tried safe mode and boot into normal windows.

In the course of the process, I came across a message, if an additional disk came with it! to put it in now. A single disc that I can remember. Any help would be much appreciated, because I now get only a blue screen with the stop 0xoooooo7E (followed by other numbers)

    Thank you once again, Marty

    I got the message?
You aren't able to recovery of the laptop using the recovery disk?

    Hmm looks like hardware problem
The described broken lines going down the screen resembles a graphics card problem
What happens if you turn on the device and go to the BIOS?
    The BSOD is always appear?

  • How do I know if Qosmio G30-198 is compatible with win 7 64 bit?

    Hi again,

How will I know if my old Qosmio G30-198 is compatible with win 7 64 bit? I think that there are some not compatible microprocessors.

    Hello

    As I m not wrong, G30-198 supports the Intel® Core 2 Duo T7200 processor

According to the Intel page http://ark.intel.com/products/27255/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-T7200 this processor supports 64-bit architecture
So you shouldn't have trouble to install a 64-bit system

  • Qosmio G30-163 - update from XP to Win 7

Is this possible please? I downloaded the Windows Upgrade Advisor and he ran and he scored loads of applications. who does not work under Win 7.

It seems that this model is too old. I also checked the websites of Toshiba models supported for Win 7 and the G30 is not listed. Thank you.

    Hello

If you want to switch to Win7 I recommend doing a clean install of Win 7.
The Qosmio G30 drivers are listed on the page of European driver of Toshiba under the area of the Archive (in the product type click on archive).

But not all drivers Win 7 therein, but is not a big problem since Win 7 should install most drivers automatically

Toshiba tools missing as VAP (value added package), utility Support Flash memory card or even other Toshiba tools can be downloaded from the other series Qosmio G40 G50, but you must pay attention to a specific driver as the driver or Wlan poster
In this case, he must use the drivers that are made for chips built in Notepad

As when I download BBC iplayer TV programmes that they always freeze when I try to read full screen mode.

    Hello

Why you n t visit the Adobe page and see for yourself
On the Adobe page, you will find info on all the need of hardware requirements.

But to be honest, the Qosmio G30 is a powerful machine and strong performance.
I think that it s not a problem of performance of the material, but maybe some software issue

Maybe you should try to read downloaded using another player movie files.
VLC Player is nice, small and free. It supports almost all possible file formats.
