• NVIDIA Quadro K5200 not recognized!

  Probably a stupid question, but: I just moved from a position with a Nvidia Quadro K5000 to one with a Nvidia Quadro K5200.  I brought over several open projects, and when I open one of them, I get the message "this project last used with Mercury Playback Engine acceleration GPU (CUDA), which is not available on this system."  Mercury Playback Engine Software only will be used. "And when I go to project > settings > general, which is actually my only choice.  This is also true if I start a new project.  Device Manager confirms that the system recognizes the K5200, and for the evaluation of the graphics capabilities of the computer, the score is through the roof.   I don't remember having to do something special to have Premiere Pro recognized the K5000 on the old machine, it seemed just to be done automatically without having to install drivers, etc..  Is there something else I'm supposed to do to make this work?

  Never mind.  Found the hack on adding to cuda_supported_cards.txt.  I guess CS6 is not updated more supported cards, should have known that.

  The ray-traced rendering engine is not relevant for third-party plugins. It is not something that they could never use.   I am putting together the specs for a Dell workstation that I use to make Adobe CC work, including video with After Effects and Premiere Pro. My computer expert worries that the card Quadro K5200 I want to have the system is listed as supported for Premiere Pro CC 2014, but that it is not listed as supported for after effects CC 2014. Are there problems of compatibility with this card and EI?

• HP Z620: SM951 m2 SSD in a HP Z620

  Hi all, my first post on this forum. Not so much a question but rather a few possible useful information about up-to-date maps of style M.2 SSD autour regarding the HP Z620 workstation.

  I recently bought a module 256GB of HDD Samsung SM951 MZHPV256HDGL-00000 PCI Express m2 to install in my HP Z620 workstation, as most of the people, the speed of transfer seems certainly attractive. Before installing the module my Z620 was already configured with a 480 GB SanDisk Ultra II 2.5 "SSD as a boot drive with a second drive Hitachi 2 TB (with 1 partition MBR) of 7200 RPM and a Seagate 4TB third of 5900 RPM (GPT with 3 partitions).

  Initially, I bought what I thought, it was a generic SSD m2 to PCIe card on ebay for about £8. (NOTE: these cards generic mentioned seem to have the m2 socket and a LED power with resistance and are very cheap). After you mount the SSD m2 to the PCIe card, I plugged the card in the Gen3 PCIe x 8 socket on the motherboard of Z620 lane (i.e. the adjacent to the second GPU slot PCIe slot). Surprise, no visible SSD in BIOS or in Windows. As everyone does a little digging around, which resulted in install me a driver of Samsung NVMe and try various other methods found on other forums, but without a bit of luck. Still not visible in BIOS or in Windows.

  As a last resort, I thought I would try another PCIe adapter card and opted for the Mini ASUS Hyper M.2 X 4, which cost about £27 on ebay. Swapped my SM951 on the ASUS PCIe card and reconnect even taking on the mother board. Turned on the computer and waited for Windows to start normally and to my surprise the system seems to load new drivers for the newly tracked equipment. Of course, the device was displayed in Device Manager. After the initialization of the device in disk management, the aircraft was visible in windows Explorer. As a final check, I rebooted the PC in BIOS and confirmed that the device was displayed as an existing boot device.

  Using the same method I used to install the OS on the 480 GB SanDisk Ultra II, I simply used MiniTool Partition Wizard (which is free) to clone my OS to the SM951 drive. (Use the disk copy Wizard). After that copy over my PC restarted as planned, but to my surprise that he started from the SM951 drive. (Note: the PC starts normally on the disk with the new OS but I was surpised that he started so easily of the PCIe SSD without twisting them). To confirm the changes, I removed the 480 GB SSD and tried rebooting to who did it without any problem. After the execution of Crystal Disk Mark 5, I can confirm reading speeds just above 2000 MB/s and write speeds of about 1 300 MB/s. My SanDisk SSD (which is one of the best SSDS on the market) has reached 550 MB/sec in reading and 500 MB/s in writing.

  In summary, it seems that the PCIe card seems to be pretty important if you want to use a SSD of M.2 SM951 I would recommend that you avoid cheap cards on ebay.

  While I can't say with certainty, using the ASUS card can allow the SM951 to work as a disc bootable on the old Z400/Z600 machines, because it dispays inherited the SSD as a device in the BIOS.

  My complete system:

  2 x Xeon E5-2670, 64 (8 x 8 GB) 1866 MHz RAM, boot drive Samsung SM951 (via a Mini ASUS Hyper M.2 X 4 adapter), 480 GB of SanDisk SSD, 5900 RPM 4 TB of Seagate, Hitachi 7200 RPM 2 TB, Syba 2 port SATA III with 2 x USB3.0, Quadro K4200, Tesla M2090 ICY Dock hot swappable 2.5 "and 3.5" drive Bay.

  I competely agree with the notion of "disconcerting."  And in two aspects >

  Drive: The SM951 in the z420 has a Passmark of 11559 disk partition and the difference to your 7891 is too large to be a Variant.  I think warrnats of studies.  What are your storage space and option power settings?

  One thing however is that each time the pass mark is executed, the drive score drops. The first test of the Seagate ancient who arrived at the z620, the disk partition was 594, and the third time he has scored 495.  I decided to make a small improvement and an hour ago, bought a Turbo Z 256 GB AHCI, who will go into the z420.  With the Samsung SM951 / Lycom DT-120 moved to the z620, which should add about 11 000 points to the mark of 495.

  Your Solidworks model and rendering are a work of art-well done and a half.  I tried to learn Solidworks for a while for my projects of industrial design, but never have large blocks of time.  I find myself accomplish them in AuoCad. I have a book, 'The Bible of Solidworks' but it is more than 600 pages and I'm only on the Genesis.  How did you learn?  Do you give lessons?

  Quadro "P4000":  Think of your consideration for zz620, the first two Pascal GPU Quadros, the P6000 24 GB - said at a cost of $12,000 and the P5000 were released and they will be specular perofrmers. However, what I expect is the 'P4000"(or whatever it's called) that, if true to form - i.e. to perform as well as the next model to the top of the model it replaces and costs a little more means, he must run to the near K6000 levels but cost only $100 more than a M4000.

  Average for the M4000 (820 U.S. dollars) is 6402. For comparison a $3,000 over-pants W9100 6570's Quadro K5200 6155. a GTX 770 average 6149and GTX 960 5916. Thus, the M4000 is actually in the top end of the intermediate level games GPU. Of course, $1 800 Quadro K5200 in mind is good enough for terrible cartoonist as I.

  In time, sell the K2200 in the z620, buy a used M4000, for the z420 and place the K4200 in this place. When the 'P4000"arrives, the price of a used M4000 will drop - as K4200 will still more abruptly.  The United States already, they have sold for as little as $600.  I had a reliability perfect with the eight or so used of Quadros, I got - I always use a FX 2004 580 as the GPU in my server.  About three months after the introduction of the 'P4000", might be a good time to change.

• DAQmxReadAnalogF64 gives unexpected results with 9239 of Ni - DAQmx

  Hi all

  I use a NI 9239 with a laser sensor, and I would like to acquire some pressure readings of the probe which measures the height. It works very well with Ni Max, but not in C + c++ / MFC app I am developing. I get something that looks like amplidied noise:
  1 reading scale doesn't seem fair (pressure readings I get from range - 2E9 to 2E9)
  2 changes in what the sensor is supposed to measure does not appear in my measurements at all, there is nothing other than the noise (as if I were acquires bad chain - this I double checked)
  I would like to get the same result as in Ni Max, but may not know what wrong with my code (below).

  I have a request where the client shouldn't have access to the data that I need to save for troubleshooting purposes.  (there are trade secrets, I want to protect)  My plan is to save a datalog (currently I produce a Spreadsheet tabs-delimited format) whenever the device is running and hide the files where they will not likely be found.  But some sort of encryption or everything at least password protection would be better.

  I never tried to do this before, but thought it would be pretty easy.  Maybe I'm looking all just not in the right places.

  Well, you could look in something like DES, Triple, ESA, etc.  It has libries lying since these writings in LabVIEW.  I'm not sure about the cost.

  If you want a very simple way to protect your data, just reverse all or part of the bits in each byte of the file.  It's super simple and turns a nice ASCII text file noise when read from a text file.

A microphone will be placed on a platform that the stepper motor control and adjusts the position of the platform according to noise levels read from the microphone.   These controller requires input of pulse. I'll use a DAQ 6008, but I don't know if this can produce a pulse? I also thought using the Arduino to control stepper motors that work perfectly with the controllers, but it would be able to order the engines while gaining an analog voltage to the microphone?

  I own a laptop Satellite A300 - 1 M 1

  He reads some DVD, windows media player or VLC, but fails to read CDs and many DVDs

  The drive is recognized in Windows Vista. I updated the drives and rebooted. Then removed from devide Manager and rebooted. The removal of the UpperFilters and LowerFilters registry and restarted it again.

  The problem is it exactly even. I can read a DVD (DVD movie) but not a CD (with data). I can read both disks on a different laptop.
  When I insert the DVD, the disc spins and in few seconds it appears in windows Explorer and can be played with Windows Media Player or VLC, for example. When I insert a CD with the data, CD towers, there is slippage noises, at different speeds. The mouse cursor changes briefly shhowing a disc below it, the orange light flashes, but after some 40 seconds or so only a message appears "Please insert a readable disc. Needless to say, I tried several different CD. Only DVD movie I managed to read on the player.

  The drive is listed on the device as a Manager:

  The CMN Satellite A300 - 1 M 1 are:

  There might be something wrong with the lens of laser disk or disks are not totally compatible

  You could try burning the disks on another computer and could attempt to read copied discs

  Otherwise you will need a new CD/DVD drive

  Look carefully at the audio track of the timeline in the vicinity of title of the file.

  

  The title of your file audio timeline shows: level of Volume or something else. If something else, click the tiny triangle where

  the red arrow in the screen shot is sharp and select the Volume and then level so that you end up with

  Volume: level as shown in the screenshot.

  Hope it's the factor involved.

  If your nVidia card at least 1Gig of video ram, use the nVidia Hack http://forums.adobe.com/thread/629557 - which is a simple entry in a file "supported cards.

  You are throwing together a mobile compared to a card desktop, BTW. The K5200 is the equivalent of the GTX 980. With that of the road, none of this probably has much practical interest. Their technical base is the same and if you get all the benefits of faster and more VRAM and additional 300 MHz clock speed is an open question. If there are performance differences, they come down to nanoseconds and you won't see them, yet not since "render time" are influenced by a gigazillion other factors. You could spend a lot of money on a Quadro and always end up frustrated. In the end, the only real difference of Quadros is they have optimized drivers that are tailored to support commercial applications and generally have better connectivity and allow in more to control my poles of point - on some details, but in the end, it will be barely noticeable in the case of first. This kind of thing tends to be much more relevant when you are juggling around CAD models or medical visualizations, meaning interactive performance and avoid glitches drawing instead of as a pure processing power...
