Question about partitions on Portege M700

Hello

I was wondering why my M700 Vista Ultimate came with 3 partitions.
EISA, the part. C: System, a primary partition without name of 5 GB.

The EISA should be the recovery partition, but what is the last for?

I can delete to create a different partitioning scheme?

THX.

EISA is not the recovery partition and this partition Go 1.5 belongs to Vista. The name of this partition is also WinRE (Windows Recovery das). If you want to know more about this please use Google. You will find many interesting documents on this subject.

Portege 700 unknown to me but 5 GB partition can be partitions for recovery that contains the recovery image. For older models of laptops the recovery image was always recorded on DVD, which means that the recovery image is big enough. I presume that it is between 3 and 5 GB.

You have already created recovery DVD? If this is not the case, try to do. Tell me if you need two blank DVD media.

  • Question about partitions on Equium A100-027

    Hi all!

I'm new to the forum but have been hidden for a while and he thought at the time that I said "Hello".

This and the fact that I have a question about my laptop Satellite A100-027.
The hard drive on my laptop seems to be divided into three partitions = Vista (c) / data (E :) / WinRE (d) with the WinRE (D :) is quite small but others, quite large.))

My C drive is up to 3 that GB free with about 35 GB of free data (E :) is possible to merge these two to give me a big drive? And if so, how?
Please excuse my ignorance, but it seems impossible to me to "get my head around" this thing hard drive and would split the a large hard drive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and once again, Hello to all.

    Hello

As the user previous already said, you can manage HARD drive partitions in disk management settings.

If you n t want to have a data partition (e) then you can try to delete it in disk management.
Then you can add this empty space of the HARD drive for other partitions on the HARD drive.

But note; the empty space will be placed at the end of the HARD drive. I don't know if your C partition is placed as a second HARD drive partition, but if so, then it should be no problem to add empty space to partition C (System) of m.

  • Question about the recovery partition

    Hello.

I have a question about the recovery of HARD drive partition.

If I do the operation to clear the hard disk option in the wizard it will remove * all * or it will keep my partition recovery in this way I can come back later. I want to know because I would like to put on a different OS.

I know he said he would, but caution in the PDF, I found it says that on a normal recovery too (that he would remove each partition) and I'm a little confused about how the recovery actually worked.

    Thank you.

    Hey Buddy,

To be honest I n don't know what you mean exactly with this option to erase.

In General, Toshiba Recovery disk will wipe your entire HDD to restore factory settings correctly. This means that if you start from that disk and follow the instructions on the screen, everything will be removed.

In addition, the recovery disk doesn t create a recovery partition. It is not available. Disk copy just the files on the second partition in folder HDDrecovery to start an installation of HARD drive recovery.

  • Portege M700: Question on the fingerprint log-in

    Hello

I have my own Portege M700 today and I decided to perform a clean installation to remove the bloatware.

Now, I installed an OEM Vista Business 32 bit and I installed all the drivers and software to make it work properly, for all, but a function.

    The connection option.

How to configure application/toshiba fingerprint utilities into letting me have the option to type my password or drag my finger to log on?

The default value of the factory were the two options available, but now I'm stuck with only 1 choice, and it bothers me a lot.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • A few questions about Toshiab reocvery disk for Satellite P300-133

    Hello guys,.
I had a few questions about unpleasant surprises of recovery:

(* 1) * I just make recovery DVD using Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator and he asked initially for 2 DVDs - but when one has been done it does not require a second blank DVD. Is it possible all the Windows Vista system files to write on 1 DVD?

(* 2) * if I could reinstall Windows Vista using recovery of HARD drive option (by pressing F8) without using the recovery DVD?

(* 3) * HARD drive partitions that will be formatted (just system C: or C: and E :) using HARD drive recovery?

(* 4) * what is DVD - Image of the hard drives or the installation of Vista recovery files?

Its pretty bad idea to not include BONES on DVD when I paid for it.
Thanks for all the Toshiba problems :(

    1. I think the recovery disk creator means 2 CDs. I also have a Portege M700 with Windows Vista and a DVD. I got it and after that, I have a clean install of Vista with all the drivers and tools of Toshiba. Nothing is missing.

    2. Yes, you can reinstall Vista using recovery of HARD drive option when you press F8 at startup. You don't need the recovery DVDs, but you should create a when your HARD drive get some errors or something else. If you need a new recovery DVDs, you paid for one.

3 HARD drive and complete partitions will be formatted, so backup your data first on a DVD disk external DRIVE, USB stick or something else.
After the reinstallation, you have factory settings.

    4. the recovery DVDs is an image of the HARD disk on the factory settings. If you perform a recovery, there are all the drivers and tools are already installed. Of course, on the disk are files of installations of Vista, but you can use this DVD on your Satellite P300. The disc cannot be used on another Satellite or on a PC.

If you have any other questions, take a look in the user manual. There are a number in the formations of the recovery. It s in Chapter 3.

  • Portege M700 - DVD drive fails during the recording of discs

    Hello

I tried the Disc Creator that came pre-installed and also Nero 9.2.6.0. All this on Vista 32 bit.

The latter seems to have no idea about the problem, as it says smething like unknown failure.

The creator of disc mentions error code 380381-26-BF040304.

The problem occurs only at the beginning, I tried with three discs, so I don't think that the disks are the problem. In any case, they are DVD + R DL Verbatim and support up to 8 x, while the recorder goes only up to 4 x for the double layer, so I think I'm ok.

My suspicion is that maybe the firmware in the DVD version needs update... He mentions Hw 1.00, 1.10 Fw. Other manufacturers of laptop as offer updated firmware DVD for her, but I couldn't find one of TOSHIBA.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

There are several disks for Portege M700, they are compatible. Usually in the user manual, you can find a list of supported CD/DVD players they are pre-tested by Toshiba and work correctly.

If you have any other questions about a new drive, ask the service provider authorized in your country. They can offer you a compatible player.

  • Portege M700-130 + Portreplicator + external display

    Hello

We have a Portege M700-130 with the PA3508E-1PRP portreplicator and have a problem with the external display (monitor) connected to the portreplicator.
The OS is Vista Business. The external monitor is an EIZO S2401WE-GY.

    Now the question:
    * Can you just place your Portege in the portreplicator, start it with the key to the portreplicator and get an image on the external monitor to the connection of the operating system image without doing anything on your laptop? *
It would already help us if someone with the Portege even and a portreplicator can give us his experience about it.

Because we can't, but we have absolut want to achieve or better should. We have tested all the settings in the power and hardware configuration options. The point is: when the Portege gets started without portreplicator and is remplace replaced offshore in the portreplicator, then began with the portreplicator the external monitor goes black when loading of the connection of the operating system image. Only after that the laptop screen is fliped open, we get an image on the external monitor.

Help or an answer, I'd be very appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Hello

One of my friends has tested this on the Portege M700 Vista OS.
It connected the external monitor using a VGA (analog) and DVI port.

It seems that it works as you suggest in your ad.
The Portege lid is closed and connected to the external monitor.
You do not need to touch the Portege M700. He should start by pressing the key of the duplicator.

    Welcome them

  • Re: Inaccurate cursor when using the stylus on Portege M700 Tablet mode

    Hello

I was struggling with my stylus for a few months. When I use it, the cursor is just the tip, when I'm in the corners (where the calibration takes place). More central that I get on the screen, more it is. We're talking about half a centimeter, which does not seem a lot, but that can be a real pain if you try to write or draw on the screen.
The tragic part is that it started AFTER I used the tool of calibration for the first time. If I had known that it makes things worse, I would not have touched him.
My question is: is there anyone out there with the same problem, or is it unique? If this is the case, I'll have a conversation with my dealer after I go home.

If it is not unique, how this was dealt with?

My laptop is a Portege M700, with Windows Vista Business SP1. This issue has been consistent through all kinds of situations, hardware configurations and software content, and the starting point was obviously the calibration.
I thank in advance anyone who can shed some light on this for me.

    Best,
    Oliver

You're calibrating with the stylus on an angle?

Try it with the completely vertical stylus.

  • Portege M700 Wacom does not respond after hibernation

I've been using the M700 for two months and I met a very annoying bug. It is not mentioned in this forum so far, but there are other reports on the Internet who mention this problem too. (http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/showthread.php?t=16902)

    * Question: *.

Tablet is placed in hibernation. When he wakes up, everything seems OK. When you use the stylus or the key functions, that the cursor does not move. Tablet and pen services have not crushed, but there is no link between screen/digitizer and software.

    + Technical support +.
The series/USB connector is not reset after waking or hibernation is dead the serial connection

    * I tried solutions *.
So far, I have reinstalled Vista, tried XP (and will stick to it because it's a better OS in many cases) and have reinstalled all kinds of drivers Wacom.

    * What we want *.
Wacom has also seems to be aware of the problem but says it's a matter of Toshiba. I am impressed with the construction and the quality of the M700 (it is a replacement for my robust but now almost unusable M200 and I have a M400 too, but I never liked it) and this issue is the only glitch I meet.
I would like to know if anyone else in this forum has experienced a Wacom-coma after the resumption of the hibernation or standby, and if so, if they have found a solution (apart from restarting their PC)

And I would really like a response from a representative of Toshiba review of this question.

    Hey Buddy

I m not a M700 owner and, therefore, I can not say much about this issue, but to my knowledge, there are a few different problems with Vista and hibernation mode.
For example, device high definition audio, screen WLan failed after the resumption of hibernation.
These issues were definitely Vista problems.

Installed on Portege M700 Tablet d River was developed by Wacom, I wonder why the guy States that it is a Toshiba issue?  :| (perhaps because this Toshiba laptop s ;)))

Anyway, you said that you have reinstalled the driver for the tablet of the Toshiba page and updated the Vista of the State. Check the BIOS updated maybe he could improve the functionality

If this does not work I recommend you contact the ASP to find out if there is a known issue

I do not have any disk where can I download the iso and then burn it to disc or something like that, I don't know really much about PCs and sorry for my bad English, please help me if someone can

    Thank you very much

    Hello

Unfortunately, it is not possible to download the image of Toshiba.
Where you n t have recovery disc for your model mobile, visit this page to order this disc: http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
But I don't very well if you'll be able to order the disc because of the age of the laptop of m

However, the message: insert the disk system is displayed because the system is not installed on the Toshiba Portege laptop, that's why it asks for the disc.

Of course, you can use the clean Microsoft Windows disk to install the system, the essential drivers are available on the page of the driver Toshiba UE Toshiba image is not necessary to reinstall the system, if you are the owner of a MS Windows disc

  • Portege M700 falls down after upgrading to Windows 7 32 bit

    Dear all,

My portege M700 laptop played most of the reliable time.
However, it was taken very slow sleep after a few iterations of sleep-wake, taking > 5 min.

I have now installed Windows 7 32-bit, which works very well. Has no problem with the release of sleep. However, on 1-2 times per day now, I get a message that Explorer crashed and must restart. About once a week, the system crashes completely with a blue screen of windows (without core). Most of the time, in seconds to the time that the screen freezes, I hear the fan switch on at full speed (much faster that it never runs normally) and the case becomes hot enough.

I installed the latest drivers for 32 bit Windows 7 on the site of Toshiba UK.

Can someone help me to diagnose the cause of these accidents?

    Thank you very much

    Chris.

    Hello

It is difficult to say what might cause this behavior strange system.
But you said something about the hot deal and fans begins to spin faster

It seems that the internal temperature of laptops increases to a higher level.
A higher temperature may affect the RAM modules and this could be the reason why the system hangs and does not answer.

What to say that you should check the Win 7 power management settings.
There are many options that could decrease the performance of the processor and increase the cooling.
In addition, you should check if the cooling fans are free of dust obstructed fans might not run properly and this would increase the temperature as well.

    Hope this helps you

  • Hibernation and Novatel Wireless Mobilink - Portege M700

    Hello!

I have a little problem with my UMTS through Novatel Wireless Mobilink connection. If I establish a connection and my Portege M700 leads in the idle state (hibernation), I can't establish a connection after the idle state longer. It seems that the UMTS device would be disabled.

The button to connect/deconnect-in MobiLink is disabled.

    Does anyone have similar experiences?
Maybe someone can give me a tip?

    Many greetings
    Steffen Bischoff

Hmm I m not a protégé M700 owner and I don t use the 3G connectivity, but I read about the problems of Hibernate with Win Vista and XP
In my case I couldn't t connect WiFi after the reactivation of hibernation.

My solution was; Windows update, updated the driver WLan, updating the BIOS and disable the option in the properties of the energy saving device.

    That's all I can suggest...

  • Portege M700 - Vista operating system factory reset

Hi guys, I would really appreciate help, please

    :)

I have a problem with the reset procedure factory on my Toshiba Portege M700 Vista,.

what I do is the following:

1 turn off the computer by pressing & holding down the power button
    2. turn power on by pressing the power button
    3. I invite me for the password (BIOS HARD drive), I enter pasword
    4. I press F8 and go into the Advanced Boot Options
    5. Select repair your computer, press enter
    6. I select correct keyboard in pop - up, System Recovery Options after
    7. I connect as a user by entering my password
    8. I select Windows complete PC Restore

New window appears, saying "Restore your entire computer from a backup" - Windows cannot find a backup on the hard disk or DVD on this computer. The area where I could specify the path to the file is grayed out. It is not that I now have the road, but I guess that there is a hidden with the Vista partition install files that it contains (?)

"" In a small pop-up screen (on the top one), there is a similar message: "no valid backup locations could be found..."

In an ideal world, I would use the backup (plant) from the internal hard drive of origin, rather than purchase and waiting for the preservation factory / restore DVD...

    Thank you much in advance!

    Hello

The explanation is quite simple. For some reason, your laptop can not find recovery saved on your HARD disk image. I can't say why, but this can happen if the recovery image is deleted, removed to another folder, or in the case of modified HARD drive partitions.

Recovery image is set with the so-called markers and when you start the image recovery Search installation wizard these markers. In the case where the markers are not found, you will get this message on the screen.

So now you have the problem because the mounting will not work. Only option for you now is to install the original recovery image using recovery media, but I'm afraid you did not create one, right m?

You must order the original Toshiba restore disk or you can install the version of the OS using the Microsoft installation disc.

What do you think of all this?

  • Portege M700 - 116 BIOS update error

HI, I have a Portege M700 - 116 with Vista Ultimate SP1. And I download a BIOS fresh (P005Bv160.exe) [http://ru.computers.toshiba-europe.com/] date of 1, 60 - WIN version 10/10/08. When I try to install it, I get an error window saying:

    Unsupported product type is installed.
    Package BIOS BIOS version: Ver.1.60
    Current BIOS version: Ver.1.50

So my question is... WHO IS WRONG? What type of product? This update of the BIOS is OS independent and independent language (world-wide), so I think that a lot of people with M700 will have the same problem. There is some problems with the previous version of the BIOS? I downloaded compared to the same month of site there. I do not understand, Setup the BIOS for Windows was made to make the process easy, but it doesn't even...

    Hello

I see you are using Vista Ultimate.
I doubt that there is an original version of Vista pre-installed.

Error message: type of product does not support is installed, said the product (OS software) that is installed is not supported by the BIOS. I think that the error is related to the ultimate Vista preinstalled. Perhaps the BIOS may not be updated under Vista Ultimate.

It would BE very interesting to know if you can update the BIOS runs Toshiba preinstalled OS.
    Should check this out!
