Portege M700-130 + Portreplicator + external display

Hello

We have a Portege M700-130 with the PA3508E-1PRP portreplicator and have a problem with the external display (monitor) connected to the portreplicator.
The OS is Vista Business. The external monitor is an EIZO S2401WE-GY.

Now the question:
* Can you just place your Portege in the portreplicator, start it with the key to the portreplicator and get an image on the external monitor to the connection of the operating system image without doing anything on your laptop? *
It would already help us if someone with the Portege even and a portreplicator can give us his experience about it.

Because we can't, but we have absolut want to achieve or better should. We have tested all the settings in the power and hardware configuration options. The point is: when the Portege gets started without portreplicator and is remplace replaced offshore in the portreplicator, then began with the portreplicator the external monitor goes black when loading of the connection of the operating system image. Only after that the laptop screen is fliped open, we get an image on the external monitor.

Help or an answer, I'd be very appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hello

One of my friends has tested this on the Portege M700 Vista OS.
It connected the external monitor using a VGA (analog) and DVI port.

It seems that it works as you suggest in your ad.
The Portege lid is closed and connected to the external monitor.
You do not need to touch the Portege M700. He should start by pressing the key of the duplicator.

Welcome them

  • Portege M700 - random lines are displayed when I write

A few months ago, I bought a Portege M700 tablet PC for school. It works fine all this time and I was in love. A problem started well this morning.

When I wrote there would be random lines from off the letters that make it difficult to read. After some tests, I realized that it seems to be like the screen was stuck back somehow. What happens is, I'll write something and after that I raised the pen he will continue to write for a little bit after. I think that the screen is stuck is because the most difficult I have support to write more he will continue to write even if the pen does not touch on the screen.

Does anyone else have this problem? Any ideas on how I can fix this? Thanks for any help.

    Try to calibrate the screen.
If you use the writing system then check if you have enough system resources free for it.
I have problem with some 3rd party programs for writing (for example paragon penreader - write anywhere on the screen).
This problem was with programs that is too resourses of system for his work and the recognition and the same drawing a line has been very slow.
If you have some non-standard programs for writing that I recommend uninstalling and check again.

And try to remember what software install you in the last week or two at the start of this problem ;)

  • How to connect Portege M700 to TV using the VGA port?

I bought a VGA S-video/audio adapter and connected my VGA port and the TV.
    Nothing happened.

In the control panel... no other display/external display was detected.
Validations only that I ran using an emulator port or something.
I have the Portege M700 preinstalled with Vista Business lozenges.

    Any ideas would be welcome.
    Thank you

    Hello!

I have a Portege M700 too and there is no S-video port.

If you want to switch between the following views the use of FN + F5 as Feliks said. I use the Portege M700 with an external monitor via a VGA cable and it works perfectly.

    Good bye

  • Re: No display on Portege M700

    Hello

My son put his computer bag stuffed with his laptop Toshiba Portege M700 inside his office (just out of warranty).

The laptop shows no sign of injury, but on turn it only "all the right noises", but there is no display on the screen. If the laptop is turned on with the charger connected and then some colored vertical bars appear, and then they fill with white, but nothing else.

We tried to connect an external monitor and pressing Fn + F5 and the vertical bars disappear from the internal screen and it goes totally black, but nothing appears on the external monitor. Pressing Fn + F5 new returns the vertical lines at random on the internal display.

We have also tried to start the laptop in the Mode menu without failure by pressing F8 during the initialization of the laptop, with or without an external monitor, with or without the Fn + F5, but you cannot get any video on the monitor either internal or external.

Fact it seems that maybe a connector was dislodged by the shock of the fall, that you think that the laptop is now pushing up daisies?

    Any notice received with gratitude.

    WIBs

To be honest I n don't know which connector you want to say but there is no pic on external displays to be a serious problem.
It seems impossible to send the video signal via the video out port.

It is not easy to offer an accurate diagnosis on this virtual path.
What do you do now? Try to repair it or what?

Maybe you should contact Toshiba service and ask for verification. They can run diagnostic tools and tell you what is defective, what needs to be replaced and how much it will be cool. Then you can do what to make the decision.

  • Portege M700 - 7004V Display Device change Utility does not

    Hi all.

I have problems with the utility to change device display on my Portege M700.
I am in charge of a school district with 110 Portege tablets, but I can't understand it.

For some reason any when I press Fn + F5 (which is the default configuration to switch display devices), nothing really happens.
The screen flickers very quickly as if she is still looking for another device. Press it again, the same thing happens.
Press it again, the screen goes black (as it should), but even when nothing is displayed on the projector connected to him.

On all the other 109 pills I, change display utility works very well.
In fact, if you hold down FN and press F5, but continue to hold down the Fn key, a box appears and tells you which device you try to switch to.

    Here is my configuration:

Windows XP SP3 (up to date)
    New version of:
    Intel graphics drivers
    Toshiba controls
TOSHIBA Hotkey utility for display devices
    Toshiba display device change utility
    Toshiba Mobile Extension

This computer is imaged from the same image that have other computers (which all work.)

Is there something in the registry that toggles? Is there something in msconfig, that I can check? This problem is to get the best of me!

Thanks to anyone with the time and patience to help!

    Hello

To be honest, I put t know what might be the problem, but it is recommended to reinstall the necessary drivers.
First of all, you need the common Modules!
This tool must be installed first.
Then you can try again to install the v2.0.1.9 change of display device. and then the Hotkey utilities for display v3.4.5.5 devices

Also the display driver should be updated and if necessary check the update of the BIOS.

  • Portege Z30 - A - 18 M - cannot set the native resolution on the external display

    Hello

I tried to connect two different displays full HD to my Portege Z30 - A - 18 M and I was unable to set the native resolution - maximum resolution I can put for those is 1680 x 1050... I was not so surprised by the first that I had a few problems with a native resolution when I connect to the laptop computer Satellite I had before. But then the same thing happened when I tried the other view.

I thought that this notebook can handle a higher resolution external... Is there a way to force the native resolution of the external display in Windows 7?
    Thank you!

Just a question: have you plugged your Portege with HDMI cable and use only the HDMI option?
With other words went from the desktop to the external display only computer?

I don't have this machine, but I think you should be able to see the desktop on an external device to the HD full 1920 x 1080 resolution.

  • Satellite M50-130: no display after the passage of the external display in main monitor

I have a very strange problem.
My brother was on his user space as soon as possible and I managed to get the secondary monitor for main monitor and disable the screen of the laptop back, however, when it comes to me, it won't happen...

Well, any help would be appreiciated.

    Hello

Could you please be clearer? Is it possible to see something on the external monitor?
Do you see something? What happens if you use the function FN + F5 device display?

I put t know how you managed to set the external display as main screen because on my laptop, this option is grayed out.
However, you should see the laptop if you will start Notepad in safe mode. Please check!

  • Portege R700 with docking station may not automatically switch to the external display

    Hello!

In the past, we bought a lot of A600, R500, S10, and always a docking station for every laptop here at Desjardins, we bought.

Now we have a little problem with the new R700 model: PT318C - 00G 001,
    We bought 30 of them.

WHY when we put in the tie-down (with the nearby screen) it can display automatically to the external display no/switch? (in this case a 22inc LCD)
It is connect with the HDMI/DVI cable. And when we get the display by sliding in the graph of intel and media panel (V 6.14.10.5258), after a reboot of the docking, the screen is all buzzy... sometimes both screen are dark, and we must use a combination of keys to move.
It's really not easy to use for our users...

With the old model as the A600 or S10, all have always worked well, if we are on the dock, the pop screen directly on the external LCD, so I stopped him, ondock it and start up of all is well on the screen of the laptop.

We are on Windows XP Pro SP3.

I tried the utility Toshiba display device change and expansion Mobile from Toshiba. are not clear...

    Thanks for your help.

Have you installed a version of vanilla from Windows? Or XP has been installed from the Toshiba Recovery Disc?
Maybe you are missing several key structural factors (common modules for example). Also make sure that you use the drivers to display on the Toshiba site.

Also try a BIOS update (v1.70 is the last one I think).

  • Portege M700 - problem with Dynadock

I can not change the resolution on a screen connected Dynadock and cannot save the display settings of all - how to fix this?

I have a Portege M700 running Vista Professional SP1 - mainly the machine is used as a desktop replacement, connected to a screen Viewsonic 19 "wide through the Dynadock DVI - when it is connected so I have the laptop screen is off and use only the Viewsonic at a resolution of 1440 x 900. I had been bothered by the fact that whenever the resumption of the screensaver, the resolution would drop down to some lower State (I was not able to identify the dimensions he thought he was using but probably 1280 x 800, the default resolution of the internal display).

I tried to solve this problem with the technical support level 3 without success. I thought I was smart and try to install the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver update that is located on the Intel Web site (if you're just trying to install this software, Vista won't let you, but if you unzip it and manually update the drivers it works). This resulted in the connected screen Dynadock is off completely - no signal! So I uninstalled the drivers, reinstalled the drivers Intel original, but now, I have no the ability to adjust the resolution on the Dynadock login screen - and it is defaulting to something that's not going to (too broad and not high enough)!

I lived several cycles to uninstall and reinstall the drivers for the graphics card (Mobile Intel 965 chipset) and the Dynadock; I updated the drivers Dynadock with the latest download from the website of DisplayLink, tried all sorts of drivers for the monitors associated with DisplayLink, tried several restorations system (which have all failed, which was also quite disturbing but less than an immediate concern), etc. Through all this, there is absolutely no way to choose the correct resolution of the screen through the display properties (my choices are 800 x 600, 1024 x 768 and 1280 x 800), and even simply activate an additional screen translates to nothing happens - the new settings do not stay after hitting "Accept" or "OK". I thought that I had licked when I realized that I had to uncheck "Extend to this monitor box office" to screen internal laptop - indeed I was then able to choose 1440 x 900 for the Viewsonic and everything was good, but everything came back after reboot. Of course, now when I try to repeat, I am unable to uncheck this box not more for the internal screen (well, actually, I can uncheck, but when I hit "apply" or "OK" it simply gets selected again).

All this comes after I spent weeks trying to get this machine to work with the port replicator, which also did not work - a problem that appears to be from an incompatibility with Vista display card drivers and the port replicator (would have been nice if it sales had told me that when I bought the thing, but I digress...)

In any case, it seems, as it is a Vista problem, I've seen this question asked of other portable devices vista and displaylink other advice, but I know it's possible to have a working reasonably OK solution since I've had one before I went and it messed up trying to work perfectly. Serves me right for spend 3 k $ on a machine and expected that it works as described, I guess. If anyone has any ideas... my next step is probably a downgrade to XP Pro, and then if that does not work, I'm tempted to break into pieces. Or, if someone's figured out how to get the port replicator to work with a M700 Vista, which is actually a better option for me...

    -Tony

    Hello Tony

It's a very long story, but I use Portege M700 with Dynadock DVI (PA3542Y1PRP) and have no problem at all. After reading your ad I tried changing all the display options and I didn t notice something strange. It works well.

Read your ad I see you tried to install different things and I wonder not to have so many problems. The best solution for you is to install the new OS using recovery image. Do the clean install of OS and install later Dynadock Utility 2.3 c. be careful while installation is running and do not interrupt the procedure of facilities. Make sure that all software components are installed correctly.

When you start installation Dynadock Utility Dynacock can not be connected. When you see the window where you will be asked to connect Audio device USB connect the Dynadock to the USB port of your favorite. I use the USB port on the back.

I use the external display to monitor LCD 22 with a resolution of 1680 x 1050. In the settings screen is display number three and when I click on it I can set the resolution to the maximum level (native resolution). The image is perfect.

I tried the same as you:
-Set the external display as primary monitor (for computer laptop LCD was OFF)
-J' have enabled screen saver and tested several times, but the resolution is always the same no changes at all the
-With these settings, I rebooted the phone several times as well as the resolution was still the same no problem at all

After reboot, I can see the image on the notebook LCD only, to the point where I have to write the password that I can see the same image on laptop LCD and external monitor. A few seconds later, the image is switched on external monitor only and it is the same thing you want to have. The resolution is the same again (native resolution). No change at all and all seems OK.

At the end I've switched back to the LCD display only. It is also interesting to procedure. As a first step, you click on display number one and activate extended desktop. After that, you will be able to use the option to change the primary monitor. A little strange to me, but OK.

So everything works well for me and for you I only see an option. Reinstall Vista, install new utility Dynadock (new installations) and test again.
One last thing: do not connect Dynadock on different USB ports. Use always the same.

    Bye and good luck!

  • Portege R30 - R30-A-121 - display too dark to be read correctly

    I have a Portege R30 R30 - A - A - 121
the monitor of the laptop is still too dark to be read correctly.
If I plug in an external display, I can very well read.
If I press fn + f7 or fn + f6 nothing changes on a level of illumination, but if I press fn + f5 switches it monitors correctly.
How to set the brightness of the screen internal maximum?
    Possibly from BIOS and permanently?
    Thank you.

If the Fn + F6/F7 keys do not work, this means that you need to install Toshiba Value added Package (Win7) or system of Toshiba driver + settings (Win8/10).

    Hello

Unfortunately, it is not possible to download the image of Toshiba.
Where you n t have recovery disc for your model mobile, visit this page to order this disc: http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
But I don't very well if you'll be able to order the disc because of the age of the laptop of m

However, the message: insert the disk system is displayed because the system is not installed on the Toshiba Portege laptop, that's why it asks for the disc.

Of course, you can use the clean Microsoft Windows disk to install the system, the essential drivers are available on the page of the driver Toshiba UE Toshiba image is not necessary to reinstall the system, if you are the owner of a MS Windows disc

  • Can I connect simultaneously on Toshiba laptop to 2 external displays?

    Hello

I am interested to know that toshiba laptop currently on offer support 2 external monitors simultaneously (one normal and then as dekstop extended in windows). I'm looking to replace my old configuration of the laptop and a station connected to two external monitors with a resolution of 1280 x 1024.

Check that the cables connecting the monitors are firmly fixed on
both ends. Some computer models don't support DVI and RGB output
monitors simultaneously. See the documentation for your computer
    model.

But even if you find on http://www.csd.toshiba.com the file pdf of detailed spec and user guides, there is no information on whether they take in charge simultant output to monitors or not and what is the maximum resolution supported for this.

As far as I know it is not possible to connect two external displays. I know that you can only use a port. If you want to use two screens you probably external device as Toshiba Dynadock.

    Check it out.

I recently bought a Portege M700-110 and try to use my finger instead of the pointing device.

However the calibration of the finger presses a wrong, because when you press the center of the screen is not a problem. But when pushed somewhere to the left or the right unit missed completely the place where I hit and instead, the cursor appears at the edge of the screen.

  • Dynadock eject properly - Portege M700

I use a Toshiba Portege M700 with Dynadock DVI PC Tablet. When I try to eject the dynadock, a message appears onscreen dynadock is being ejected.

It takes about 5 minutes that the message disappears. When I unplug the dynadock USB cable, a warning message appears informing me that disconnecting the dynadock without ejecting first may cause loss of data.

I've completely refreshed the machine to its original state of delivery (such as recommended by a Toshiba) and installed the last utility 2.3 C. exactly the same thing happens.

Normally I wouldn't worry if it wasn't for an external USB drive attached to the dynadock who had damaged data, I can only assume occurring because of a bad ejection.

    At dynadock users this experience?
If so, is there a solution?

    Bill

Don't have dynadock or your laptop, but you can try this. Unplug all external devices of dynadock and check if this message appears again during the ejection.

If the problem does not recur, then put your devices and before eject you try to manually disconnect your external storage devices, as you would if they were directly connected to your machine.
