Question charger Dell 1720

I recently acquired an old laptop Dell 1720 which did not come with a charger. I got one for a HP that has the same characteristics as the Dell (19v @ 20W) and plugs into the Dell ok. It works the laptop very well and it shows "loading" but the battery shows only 2 lights (part load) and is stuck there. Any thoughts?

Your best bet is to buy a genuine Dell AC adapter, but you can check the status of the AC adapter and the battery in the BIOS.

1. turn the computer off and then make sure the AC adapter is connected to the computer

2. power on the computer, very fast start typing the F2 key at all times, you should be in the BIOS screen.

Under the main screen, find the type of AC adapter. If the adapter said None or unknown, then it is a problem with the adapter. Suggest you only replace AC adapter / CC.

In the advanced screen, look for the battery, I must say "This battery is performing normally. If there is no other message, this could mean that the battery is defective and must be replaced.

The original HDD on my Dell 1720 (confirmed after running onboard controls) recently failed, so I set up a new on and ran a reinstallation of Vista from the cd provided. To see if I had any information that could be saved on the old HARD drive I bought a usb basket and found that I could not find the files that were missing or corupt. I started to question if the HARD drive was faulty at all.

3 weeks ago my laptop could not start again. This time, not finding the defective HARD drive, but wouldn't start with a HARD drive either by usb or installed in the HARD drive Bay. Given that the start was suspended at crcdisk.sys I was worried, that this could be a mother card power power problem, so I bought and installed a new motherboard with exactly the same results. On several forums, I find that many people on several different brands of computer (and a bit with Dell 1720) have the same problem. The connecting in all this factor seems to be Vista. I would have hoped Microsoft would have looked into this and released a patch but I can't find anything. It seems that popular belief would indicate a Vista update to the fault, but even loading of previous good config does not work and it will not start I can accomplish a rear roller. I would agree it is likely a software issue since I had 2 separate installs fail within weeks where the system had been stable for 2 years before the initial problem

  • Question ram Dell Vostro 3449

    Hello

I'm considering buying laptop Dell Vostro 3449, I have a question about ram.

I want to increase the ram 8 GB, but the manual says it can support up to 4 GB only.

Can anyone confirm whether or not the ram is expandable? All the world does?

I know the chipset that has this laptop?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Thanks for writing on the Dell Community Forum.

Dell Vostro 3449 takes in charge only DDR3 low voltage (DDR3L1600MHz 1.35v). It is not compatible with the DDR3 memory. This system only has a memory location and supports a maximum memory of 8 GB.

The chipset on this system is Intel 9 Series Chipset PCH (PCH - LP 9 Series).

  • 10 Gbps sfp + question of Dell X 1052

    Hey,.

I am interested in buying a dell x 1052 switch but I have a few questions about its features.

    1. can I I aggregate the sfp ports + this switch? Basically, I want to lacp 2 sfp ports + 10 Gbit/s and then connect the ports on my server that has a double card nic intel 10 Gbps. I would use a Twinaxial cable so that the server and the switch have a link between the two 20gbps. so is this possible?

    2. can I connect port sfp + 10 Gbit/s directly to my computer that has a network of 10 Gbit/s Intel card?

    Thanks for the help

After taking a glance at one of the switches in our lab, I can confirm that the SFP + 10 GB ports can be configured in a GAP between them. Here's an example of how ports appear in the running configuration once being configured to aggregate links.

    Running-config:

    !

    tengigabitethernet1/0/1 interface

    channel-group mode 1 on

    !

    interface tengigabitethernet1/0/2

    channel-group mode 1 on

    !

    interface tengigabitethernet1/0/3

    channel-group mode 2 on

    !

    interface tengigabitethernet1/0/4

    channel-group mode 2 on

    !

And here's how they look in the GUI.

  • Question about Dell backup and recovery Premium

Always looking for a conventional way to save the Tablet (5130) and have the ability to start in an environment of recovery and restore from a backup. Did anyone tried B & R Premium? Supposedly will do exactly that... Anyone can shed some light? Thank you

Personally, I wouldn't. I'm sure it works fine, but Vista and Windows 7 recovery options are always in Windows 8.1.

You can perform a recovery USB flash drive to reset your device to factory (out of the box) standard in Windows. (A 8 GB flash drive works.)

You can save an image of the entire system of external storage such as a USB 100 GB HDD or more.

USB recovery installs a Windows recovery with multiple options environment. These include repair the disk image partition recovery on the Flash DRIVE itself or the hard disk recovery partition, if that partition has not been removed (to leave a space after creation of the USB flash drive - it's an option which is offered), or recreate the entire disk to a system image on an external hard drive attached.

Boot from the work of USB flash drive made in the same way using a DVD or a CD bootable in previous versions of Windows. He gets the familiar environment of the recovery and begins asking for details on your keyboard.

A few steps are required, and you must remember to MAKE backups (or schedule backups in Task Scheduler to make repetitive.)  Windows 8 will only create a backup on a small external hard drive (say 100 MB) and it will crush whenever a backup is performed. On a much larger hard drive, it will use up to 30% of the hard drive space and keep as much imaging system as possible, and then replaces the oldest with the most recent. In other words, you can keep multiple images on a 1 system external to you on a 100 GB external. (That would be about 300 MB of images of system on the 1 TB).

If you want to try this (and why not, it's free, assuming you have already a flash drive and an external USB hard disk) at the start of this way.

Create the key USB recovery flash. Charms blow and to search for the exact phrase "recovery disc". Select 'Create a recovery disk.' In the dialog box, check [] copy the recovery partition from the PC on the recovery disk"(if it is not grayed out, in other words).  Run through this process and you'll find yourself with a flash drive bootable USB able to mount a rescue environment.  (You may need to go into BIOS and set up the drive as your first boot device to test.)

Create a system image for backup of the entire hard disk by hitting swipe in charms and by searching for the exact phrase "file history". Select "Save backup copies of your files with the historical file." This page takes a while to load. When loading, find "Backup of System Image" in the lower left corner.

Are there disadvantages of this report to the use of the Dell premium service? There must be or they wouldn't charge it. I have not studied on this subject (because I'm old and stuck in my ways, and I stick to what works for me), but I imagine that it automates things a bit and has an element of cloud backup.  It can even happen transparently in the background. I do not know.

In any case, Bob, I hope this helps.

  • Question about Dell OEM: SLP Windows 7 Installation disk domestic; can it be installed and activated on other computers from Dell?

I bought a Dell installation disk and I want to use it to install a better version of Windows on my Dell PC. I have windows Vista and I want to use it to update my OS Windows7 Home Premium. However, the license type is SLP:OEM and no detail... not sure what SLP: OEM means... I thought that the OS discs are the same. Someone told me no retail editions are not suitable for a new OS, but I'm confused. The disc says, Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit, but didn't holograms who have all MS OS disks and the disk is labeled for use with a Dell system only, if the means it will work very well on my Dell PC? The label does not which brand or model this disc is for, but said only for the Dell PC which is my PC. I'm assuming, the disk won't work on all Dells, maybe someone can offer suggestions, any help is much appreciated. Thank you!

I have a few other questions about Windows 7, can I ask you about this on your Web site? Do not know how to contact you on your website. I can see other people responding to your articles, but that's all. I thought that maybe their might be a forum to post a question... Thank you for everything.

  • Question for Dell Dimension 3000 IDE connector

    Hello

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, but please be patient with me. I have a loyal Dell Dimension 3000, 2 GB RAM, P4 processor, 1x250GB HDD burners 2xDVD-R, 1x3.5in floppy drive hard.

My Question is how to be able to add a second HDD. I have no way to connect to one. The cable I have all what it connects to the current. There is no way with my current cable to connect a second HDD. I don't know what type of connector IDE cable I need or where to buy it, or if there is even an option to one.

I have the tray and extra HDD ready and waiting but no way to connect. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    John Briggs

The dimension 3000 will support two hard drives, but you will need support for additional hard drive and one connector three IDE 18 "L, 80-wire cable in water data, which is connected to the primary IDE hard drive and motherboard J6J2 PRI IDE connector, see page 38

Dimension 3000 second hard drive installation.

There are no instructions for the installation of a second IDE/EIDE hard drive in dimension 3000, but as the Dimension 4600 has the same case and chassis, you can use the 4600 instructions for the physical installation, see page 18:

    http://FTP.Dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_dimension_desktops/dimension-4600_service%20manual_en-us.PDF

Set the jumpers the second hard drive for "Cable Select" and connect it to the middle connector of the IDE data cable, which is attached to the main hard drive.

After you have installed the reader, enter the setup and make sure the hard drive is set to Auto [on].

To access the configuration, press the F2 key after a restart of the computer.

For the details of the system configuration, go to page 34, here:

    http://FTP.Dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_dimension_desktops/dimension-3000_service%20manual_en-us.PDF

Use disk management to partition, format, and assign a drive letter on additional hard drive after installation for Windows to recognize the hard drive.

  • Satellite Pro A40: question charger

I hope that someone may know the answer to that. I have an A40 and over the weekend the charger packed in. Its a powerpack 15v 5amp. I have a spare part for my old Satellite, what do I know works, but not being able to the A40.

The rating on this pack is 15v 3amp. Does make a difference, and therefore the A40 will not power up/load, or did more damage I have originally thought.

I hope it's just the side ampage causing the problem, so I just buy a replacement for powerpack, rather than a new unit!

    Thank you very much

  • Question charger Y410p

I bought my Lenovo Ideapad y410p about four months ago in the United States. I use it often and one day when I plugged my charger after the battery was dying, the charger has started making strange noises of beeps. I thought that it was a problem with the plug point but it happened with other points of the plug as well. I have not dropped the charger or done something that could damage it. When I used it today, the laptop displays a flashing red light, where the light load is supposed to come. Not only the battery icon shows that it is 3% plugged and charge. I left for 2 hours and is not doing anything. Can someone please tell me what to do? Thanks in advance

If there is a similar machine near to try another charger in your machine and yours in another to determine if it's the phone or charger, the charger I know made a buzz when there is a problem with the machine itself ensure that your key usb and other ports are clean.

  • Questions Charger HP Pavilion DV4-2165DX

    Greetings!

I recently acquired this computer which has been used very little and well maintained for life.  I have problems with the charging system.  I tried to replace the battery (twice) with official HP for this laptop batteries.  If I insert the battery, the machine will start very well.  If I remove the paste and use one of the two power cords I have for this computer (the two HP OEM bricks/cables) it works perfectly.  However, if both are in the machine at the same time, it will use one or the other.  I downloaded executable diagnosis of HP battery, and it is said that the AC adapter is not turn on/off.  However, if I remove the battery, the laptop powers on with the AC adapter just fine.  This machine is running Windows 7 Ultimate, X 64-bit edition.  It has all updates and is not malicious software that I have just rebuilt the machine with copy of my Windows 7 manufacturer.  Can someone please help me, for the sake of my sanity

  • Question microphone Dell XPS 8700

Hi, I had a problem identical to that described in this forum post:

    http://en.community.Dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3513/t/19613125

Where my microphone is always so calm and creates a very large amount of white noise or static on this specific computer (a dell XPS 8700), but works fine on all other computers. I have already tried to connect on the front and rear mic ports, uninstalling and reinstalling the driver software, using different microphones, using a converter USB 3. 5 mm and adjusting the settings of microphones. It's all just too quiet and increasing the static gain becomes unbearably noisy.

So, I expect to have this problem resolved in the same way, in a sound card to try being sent because the built-in drivers simply do not work as they should. Although if there is another solution, I would be happy to hear it.

    Thanks in advance.
