Question Express airport w / AP Extreme problem

Summary...  My extreme AP gen 5 died today. Loss of Internet connection and after vicissitudes of shooting during a certain time that is as it works but not of connectivity. Thought it might be my new provider, even if the performance has been very good for 2 weeks.  Fixed prob was on my end after a call to customer service to see if he had reported outages and also wiring my modem to my iMac. I had the extreme as the main router wireless and wired AP expressly as an Extender. To get a temporality rear wifi, I use the Express instead of the extreme for the night.

Now my question, if I replace the extreme with another brand of router, can I get a hard wire to Express the other side of the House and use it as an Extender?  I'm prob looking to get a new extreme, but I saw a few new routers about the same price with 8 Sockets Ethernet.  I have most of my game and hard devices streaming already wired with a switch so I can get with the 4 Ethernet ports, just to think about the future because I'll eventually add a configuration of the camera and maybe another game console. Thank you

... can I get a hard wire to Express the other side of the House and use it as an Extender?

Yes. An Express configured to expand "using Ethernet" don't worry this device creates the network. A network "wireless" is a different matter.

I would not place too much importance on the number of Ethernet ports any particular router offer. Eight ports Ethernet switches are inexpensive.

I guess you did a "hard reset" of your extreme before giving up on this subject, and you also to reset the cable or DSL modem? They don't die that easily. The most common failure mode is the power supply, indicated by a dark light. The "hard reset" is the gold standard to resurrect the extreme apparently failed, so make sure that you have correctly completed:

On "hard reset" an AirPort Base Station: Make sure it is turned on, then press gently and his tiny reset button. Do no force more than necessary to feel a tactile click. Hold it down for five to ten seconds, enough until the LED flashes orange rapidly. Release the reset button. Then the led amber for about a minute. Then it will blink slowly, amber, once per second or two, you wait to set it up with AirPort Utility.

  • using hotspot as a provider of Internet services to delay questions express airport

I have an Airport Express 2nd generation. I've set up as a home network with no ISP due the fact that I can't get an ISP where I live. I use it for connectivity to all my other apple and mac products, over some generic devices. I go through the implementation of change the settings to ignore the Internet LAN Ethernet, allowing me to have my network. So this is where it gets me confused after a few hours or a device is disconnected. So to continue. Then I take my Netgear wntce2001 streaming single channel device/path/device that I bought. now only available as a wntce2003 dealer local. I go into my menu of the hotspot browser, (Netgear 779 s aircard) and access my WPS in place. The Netgear wntce2001 at this stage only powered with one reset fees, like its new. Push button WPS on my Netgear select wntce2001 WP / parring on my browser and let them connect. At this point the Airport express will amber. Using AirPort Utility I get the double NAT message with options to switch to bridge mode. It all works very well. Now I can use all my Apple products to get on the line and play my generation 4 Apple tv, etc etc. Here's the problem when I remove my Hotspot or it turns off. I'm locked out/unable to join my ISP network wireless access point, that I created.  my book pro Mac will recognize is no longer the Hotspot may not use a web browser to access my hotspot and any other personal devices or belonging to my friends can see or access the HotSpot. Until I drive a half-mile away with her. Or perform a Factory reset fresh out of the box on my Airport express. Even if I remove the hotspot (short drive) then back it's always invisible until I get back from the Airport express. Once I reset the AirPort Express and reset all my other devices. I can rebuild the network and use it as I'm writing this Question (letter). Is anyone know why and how I can solve this problem. In short having a provider. Hotspot demographically impossible only internet access...  Thanks to an old man persisted.

If I were in your situation... the first thing I would do, is check the wireless internet provider, which is an ISP btw... If they can sell you or recommend a router Ethernet instead of a hotspot. An access point has loads of limits and is not very well at all apple hardware.

I confess that reading your description of how make you it work, it does not look good.

I suspect that one of the main issues is the limited number of intellectual property which generally offer wireless ISPS... 5 is the common number.

You are really not on the express of all... the devices are connect to the hotspot... and when something happens, you have exhausted all of the IP addresses.

In any case we can begin to do some tests to prove it.

Please post screenshots of the current configuration of the express with all this work to your satisfaction,

I need the page summary of airport utility. That is to say it.

Click on the button to edit, and then give me the Internet tab, tab wireless and Network tab screenshots.

  • Is it possible to use express Airport and Time Capsule both as two Wifi-repeaters at the same time?

    Hello

I have a time Capsule from the airport. I use it for my back ups and he repeats my wifi in the House (bottom).

Now I need a Repeater wifi upstairs. I think to buy Airport Express. I will connect the Airport express with a Lan connection on the floor. And then I would also have wifi on the floor.

But is it possible to use the time Capsule Airport express airport and at the same time: two repeaters-wifi?

    1. I have a Fritz! Box router / wifi (we called wifi Fritz! box)

    2. I have a time Capsule airport / wifi Repeater (we called the turtle wifi)

3 and now I want Airport express on the floor for the wifi upstairs (another name for this wifi?)

    Is this possible?

Before I had used TP-link (in socket), but it works for a few months.

Thank you for your help and advice.

    2. I have a time Capsule airport / wifi Repeater (we called the turtle wifi)

I think that your terminology wrong... the TC cannot work as a Repeater in the Frtiz.

I think that you have done is connect via ethernet and run it as wireless... or WAP Access Point. It is perfectly great way to do it.

3 and now I want Airport express on the floor for the wifi upstairs (another name for this wifi?)

This is connected by ethernet, then it will work fine... you can call it Expresswifi

You are certainly going to clutter the wireless channels, you could so be interesting rather than auto setting fastenings.

2.4 ghz has been set to 1, TC 6 and 11 Express then Frtiz.

5 GHz is less of a problem... auto should be fine, because the beach is mediocre.

  • Lack of question Expression with I$ as he attempted to charge incr

    Hi friends,

Im trying to do an incr charge using the incremental update of the IKM oracle. When it im running the interface im getting lack expression in I$ table.

I have two tables with same as columns below and im doing the union transformation to load the data of my two tables (table 1 and table 2) at my target table

    Table 1

    A

    B

    C

    D

    Table 2

    A

    B

    C

    D

In doing so I need to run an incr load strategy to my target table... but it translates into lack of question expression with I$ table.

That's why I will not hold a key column in the table with control flow as false target.

    How to solve this problem.

    Kind regards

    Saro

Your unique key must be a column or combination of columns of the source, or how the process to identify the lines, lines that day to be the target! This is why you are getting the error. So just follow these rules when you use the incremental update:

    (1) do not try one generate a new column on the target which does not exist in the source (you can do this, but it is not the key used for the update)

    (2) select a single column or a combination of columns found in the source text and target that will uniquely identify the key to update records

Not a big deal, but A1409 is not a model number of all AirPort Express. This is the model number for a Time Capsule.

  • Make an express airport only connect to an another AE and not the main Time Capsule.

    Hi all

I have a Time Capsule airport and 2 Airport Express. The Capsule is far and an of the expressed airport is in the middle (call this) 1 and the other far from it, I'm calling this 2. As it is now, the 2nd Airport Express terminal connects to Time Capsule. However, it gives me much lower speed (Interruptions during the game). But if the 2nd Airport Express connects to the AE first, which is the extension of the network of transport CANADA, significantly improves the speed.

I've tried everything. All devices are relatively new (think of the last model). I called the Apple Support, but their solution was to any wire. I asked if the 2nd AE can be configured statically, but they have quoted me their policy, which is not supported and took my info and never called back. I read the posts of the forum, but could not find any relevant information.

Can someone tell me how I can do the 2nd AE connect only to the AE 1 (in the middle) so I can get faster speed for the game device wired to the 2nd AE? Your feedback is much appreciated.

    Kind regards

    B.

When you try to extend using the wireless, there will be a loss of speed associated with the process.

When the two Airport Express connect to Time Capsule, it will be more loss of speed because the 2 devices are connecting and extending.

If the 2nd Airport Express does not connect to... Time Capsule and it connect instead to the 1st AirPort Express... then 2nd Terminal AirPort Express doesn't have to extend the network.  The 2nd Airport Express could be used for AirPlay, or to connect to a remote printer on the USB port, but it cannot 'expand' or 'repeat' in this case the signal of the wireless network.

So you're wrong bing into thinking that the network is the extension more quickly if the 2nd Express connects to the 1st. Your network will behave at the faster speed even if you just turn off the 2nd Express.  It is not at all in any case extending the network, and you don't need.

Here's another way to look at the same thing... using an illustration of the Apple support document for the extension of a network:

IF... you can connect the 1st Terminal AirPort Express at the time using an Ethernet cable Capsule... then... the 2nd Airport Express would extend the signal from the first... but speed would be because you are trying to extend using the wireless.

SO... connect the AirPort Express devices using Ethernet... then you will have maximum coverage at the highest speed... Since there is no loss of signal via the Ethernet cable.

  • Question Express/Extreme Cox Communications and airport

I know this has been already posted on a forum earlier (Airport Extreme and Cox Internet IPv6 problem) and the solution was to change the IPv6 local link only. However I still have not heard a word on when apple will release a firmware update to mitigate this problem. I'm stuck using a brand router cisco and its absolutely terrible. I have such a terrible connection all the time and they purpose integer to spend all the money on the Apple router was due to its peak performance and standards. Now it just sits in my closet on the floor... Sorry for the rant, back to my original question. No one knows when apple's plans when you release a firmware update to solve this problem?

As you know when you walked into the communities Support from Apple, we all just other users of Apple products. No one here can answer when or even if Apple will provide any firmware (or any other type of updates) for their products.

  • Problem with LAN Express airport

    Hello

I recently bought an Apple AirPort Express router and I have several problems using the Ethernet with the most active airport. The thing is with my old router, I could have been connected to the ethernet cable, while at the same time connected with a LAN cable to my Macbook (end of 2015). The old router would have generated a wifi connection, but at the same time, would have enabled internet connection by cable to my Macbook without the active WiFi. People could use WiFi at home, but the Macbook would be connected to the internet by cable (lan cable connected to the router)

My question is how to turn on a cable connection on my Macbook using the AirPort Express LAN cable, while at the same time, keep WiFi active. Currently, I have the ethernet cable connected to the airport and cable Lan also connected to the airport and the Macbook, but the internet will not work unless the WiFi is active. I would like to turn off the WiFi on the Macbook and always have an internet connection through the LAN cable that is connected between the AirPort Express device and Macbook.

    Thank you

My question is how to turn on a cable connection on my Macbook using the AirPort Express LAN cable, while at the same time, keep WiFi active.

Is the Terminal AirPort Express the only router in the current configuration of your network? No matter, what is the brand and model of the modem Internet you have the Express directly connected by Ethernet? ... or is the Express connected by Wi - Fi to the modem?

  • Connectivity with AT & T-Motorola 3360 and Airport Extreme problems

Bought a new extreme-Airport (7.7.3) to replace my old AE after 9 years of service.  The installation procedure, but could not get the airport to connect with my modem (Motorola 3360).  Called at & T and they crossed put me the modem in Bridge mode and which seemed to work.  But only temporarily (about 5 hours).  Restart the modem and the airport was not working.  Troubleshooting I tried to plug my MacBook directly into the modem, but even the computer couldn't get an internet connection.  Another call to AT & T and they reconfigure the modem to their end.  After 90 minutes and try everything they could, they have finally admitted defeat and told me that they could not solve the problem.

However, after a fairly exhaustive search of this forum, seems to be two issues that many people is with Airport extreme.  One is that the modem (in this case a Motorola 3360) is perhaps not fully compatible with the airport.  The AT & T support person was not aware of this until I asked about it, so she did a quick search and was rather surprised to see that there is a lot of people having problems with the Motorola Modem.  She told me that they use no more Motorola modems but ship the 6200 of Netgear.  "All know issues?", I asked.  She sought and, to his surprise, even once, there was.

So, first question.  Does anyone know a modem that is compatible with the airport or use one that they had to limit problems with?

The second question prevailing seems to be with the IPv6 protocol.  Anyone know if there are problems with the AT & T IPv6 protocol and the most extreme airport?  I did not disable IPv6 yet to see if that helps.  I thought I'd ask here first.  Couldn't find anything on the AT & T site.

When I return from the road (great place to go to get away from technology) I will make a new round of full power of all the components and try Setup again from scratch.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Miss all know profanity.

    Thank you.

Any other relevant information: 6.3.1 the utility Airport, Airport Extreme 7.7.3, MacBook Pro running 10.8.4, modem Motorola 3360, AT & T high speed DSL, shoe size 11-1/2 wide.

When you have configured the 3360 as a 'bridge', this would mean that the AirPort Extreme should then be put in place to provide the PPPoE connection service. The airports are not known for their reliability in this type of installation... no matter the type of modem that you can select, so I drop this method as a connection option.

If you want to keep the 3360... and you have time to experiment... then you can set the 3360 to its original default settings and configure the router from the airport most convenient to connect using DHCP in router Mode of DHCP and NAT.  That will produce what is called a message Double NAT, but maybe it's not of concern on a simple home network, and Apple provides you with the option 'Ignore' the Double NAT, so the airport will display a green light instead a light orange blinking slow.

You need to try this configuration for a few days to see if the Double NAT will be a problem or not, because it is not possible to predict the effect of a Double NAT on a network... you have to test a few days see how things behave.  If this configuration works well, for you, then you can leave it as what.

Please note that I do not recommend this type of installation, just suggesting it as an option this work could , if you want to keep the 3360.

How Double NAT affect IPv6, I can't tell, since I did not use att for several years, and I'm not familiar with their implementation. On wired, IPv6 works fine on the airport with Comcast and Time Warner.  We can provide these parameters for you if want, but have no idea how well... (or if)... they will work with ATT.

If the installation of Double NAT does not work, your best option would be to go there and get a modem/router or gateway to ATT device and then set up the most convenient airport in Bridge Mode works correctly with the modem/router ATT.  You will turn on the routing of ATT function in this type of installation, but the airport can also produce a signal from the wireless network that you can use.  The modem/router ATT will also provide a wireless signal that you could use for guests, or disable the feature, if you do not need two wireless networks.

This may also be the best option if you want to configure IPv6 as IPv6 of ATT service must be compatible with the modems/routers and gateways.

  • Four express airport Wireless extends through the other, instead of directly through my airport extreme

    Hello

I have a small question which I hope someone can help me with.

I have an airport extreme that I use as base station, and since I live in a big house, I extended wireless network with four Airport express devices. I put express devices from the airport in mode "expand the network."

The question I have is that two of the expresses correctly connects directly to the Airport extreme, but the two other go via the two expresses first and not directly to the airport extreme base station.

I am worried that I have will lose speed because of this and wondered if I can implement all the features four Airport express way so they all connect directly to the base station and not by the other?

Any advice would be appreciated - thanks.

I am worried that I have will lose speed because of this and wondered if I can implement all the features four Airport express way so they all connect directly to the base station and not by the other?

Apple "extend a wireless network" feature works on the strength of the signal, so the ideal situation would be to have AirPort Extreme, located within your home with each Airport Express located approximately the same distance from the AirPort Extreme around the perimeter of the House.

Think of a 4-spoke wheel. AirPort Extreme would be the "hub" in the center of the wheel and located at the end of a ray separated from each AirPort Express Terminal. In this way, each AirPort Express connects directly to the 'hub' and expand properly.

The question I have is that two of the expresses correctly connects directly to the Airport extreme, but the two other go via the two expresses first and not directly to the airport extreme base station.

The two airport expresses which connect to other expresses 'extension' of the network are not all. They 'join' the network... so they could be used for AirPlay or a printer USB remote... but the Express do not 'extends' the network when he "joined".

You will need to experiment with different places until you see all four expresses connect directly to the main AirPort Extreme.

As loss of speed in the network is... whenever you try to extend wireless network, nearly half of the potential speed on the network will be lost in the process. It's just a character of the beast to the extension of a wireless network.

You can avoid the loss of speed in the network by configuring each AirPort Express Terminal to connect to the main router using a wired Ethernet cable connection. There is no loss of speed at all through the connection Ethernet cable up to 300 + feet, so full power is stored on the network when you do it this way.

  • Configuration of the Airport Extreme problem and Vigor 120

    Hi all

This is the case, I have vigor installation 120 in Bridge mode with my airport extreme with settings pppoe settings of my ISP of vpi/vci: 8/35 pppoe/llc adsl2 + login and password, when the force as a router configuration, there worked perfectly, but in Bridge mode has managed to establish a PPPoE to pc but when the connection with the airport no luck I got an invalid ip address and orange light flashing.

I have the latest in airport and vigor firmware and I'm doing a powecycle reboot after each change.

Here are the settings in effect 120

Any help would be more than welcome

It's sad to say THAT PPPOE on the Apple is not reliable.

I have the same problem... I can't use routers Apple with PPPOE on my modem in bridge... regardless of the brand.

PPPOE is a bunch of variations... PAP or CHAP for example... and the number of... repeated attempts time between repetitions.

Apple offers zero... whether it's no control... they are all available right now to find out what newspapers or.

I had to simply replace the Apple router with another router... any other router seems to work fine... It's just the Apple that failed on me...

I tried with several different Apple routers using all the old firmware, at latest... all fail. So I guess it's less coherent.

  • Extreme problem of airport with the guest account

It drives me crazy! I had the extreme AC router from the airport for a couple of years now. It works perfectly if the guest account is disabled. Whenever I try to enable the guest account access, I have a time very very difficult to connect to this account. The main and guest account are both set to wpa2. When I connect, I get proverbial bells and whistles go telling me airport utility system is set to be implemented via cable wan which decreases the Security (in my own home that is not a problem) and it tells me to put it in bridge not NAT and DHCP mode. If the clipping the guest account value absolutely not allow internet connection. What I am doing wrong?

The macbook, I am trying to connect is running LION

What is the brand and model of the modem Internet you have your AirPort Extreme, directly connected by Ethernet?

If this device is actually a combination modem & router, then your extreme must be configured as a bridge. Guest network does NOT work in Bridge mode.

  • Network with Airport Extreme problems connected to the Linksys switch

I have a wired network in my house.  It has the following configuration: Modem base station Airport Extreme for Linksys switch and then all wired connections.  It is in a wiring closet in a room upstairs.  I have 2 other extremes from the airport, to spread out of the range, but they are currently disabled and disconnected from the network until I have found why I get auto ip address on several of my wired connections.  I have reset the modem, EI and switch.  More wired connections seem to be working very well, but there are 4 or 5 who say that the ethernet cable is connected, but it can not connect to the internet because of a self assigned ip address.  I thought maybe it was a problem with the port of the switch, but when I plugged a cable work in, everything worked again.  Thus, for example, on my iMac, in a study downstairs, I had plugged on the ethernet port in the wall.  He let me only to connect to wireless internet.  He says the ethernet connection had a self assigned ip.  I went upstairs and took the cable from the switch and directly connected to the Airport Extreme, and then connect to this iMac worked fine via ethernet.  So I'm really confused as to why it does not work when it is connected to the switch.  Why are only a few connections ethernet works and others not?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why are only a few connections ethernet works and others not?

Because either you have a bad port on the switch (unlikely, but possible) or a wired Ethernet connection bad, or maybe both ends of several of the Ethernet cables (99% of the time, the problem is in the wiring or connectors Ethernet... not the switch).

But, we must test the switch first and then work from there.  It might be much easier to call a guy from wire or the custom installation specialist to do all this for you, but if you want to give it a try... Here's how.  It is not difficult at this stage, just take some time.

Unplug the switch except the Ethernet cable that connects the AirPort Extreme to each cable Ethernet switch.  Label each Ethernet cable with a number or a letter you can install the wires in their original position on the switch.

Use of a laptop computer with an Ethernet port and a short, spare Ethernet cable... virtually no matter what length will make... and turn off the WiFi on the laptop so it should use Ethernet to connect to Internet.

Test an Ethernet port on the switch with the laptop and the Ethernet cable to make sure that you have get a good Internet connection. If you do so, test the next port of the switch. Continue until all ports of the switch has been tested.  With luck, they will all work.

If this is the case... which is likely... then you know that the Ethernet switch is working properly.

Now things get a little more complicated. Ideally, you have documentation that tells you what Ethernet cable goes to what area of the House. If you don't, just connect the Ethernet cable to the switch... then go to the other end of the Ethernet cable to the wall outlet and connect the computer laptop and short Ethernet cable to the wall socket.

If you have no documentation to indicate where each cable goes, so go ahead and connect all the Ethernet cables to the switch.

Still, make sure that the wireless is disabled on the laptop so that it can only connect to the Internet via an Ethernet connection. Check if you can get a good connection Internet in this way. If you can, then you know that the individual Ethernet cable and the Ethernet port on the wall are working properly...

Test other areas one at a time the same way.  You are very likely going to find Ethernet cables or a wall of ports that do not work properly. The hardest part here is that you... or a wire guy... will have to check the Ethernet cable at both ends to ensure that the Ethernet Sockets have been installed correctly.  It is not easy. The wires are tiny and its easy to get involved.  Installation of new Ethernet cards, it's really a job for an experienced guy who will provide hopefully a cable Tester well when it comes.

Some Ethernet will certainly be replaced.  In rare cases, the cable itself has a break somewhere... and it's not easy to fix something like this, without pulling new cable... that would not be possible according to the House provision.

When you know that all ports on the switch are working and all ports Ethernet wall around the House work... so... we can get the network set in place and working properly.

  • HP Color Laserjet 3800 Apple Airport Extreme problem.

    HP Color Laserjet 3800.

    Mac OS Lion.

    IMac and macbook Air.

Improved Airport Extreme newest model of much older model. Now, I can't print from my office iMac and MacBook Air via the wifi on my HP printer connected to Airport Extreme USB port.  Seems to send the print job to the printer, but the printer message 'data' and then hangs until I press the button "check", how to print a page that says "ERROR: FAUTIVE COMMAND timeout: timeout".   Prints fine when connected directly to the computer via USB.

Your printer has an Ethernet cable connection?  If so, connect directly to the AirPort Extreme with an Ethernet cable, which should work.

If only USB port only in the printer, sometimes it is useful to restart the printer and the router, created a new printer queue and try again.  If you still have the same error, then we will have to continue the investigation

  • Two express AirPort and time capsule connectivity challenge

    Dear readers,

I have a Time Capsule 802.11 ac connected to my ISP router and this is the router that provides DHCP addresses, etc. In our living room, I have an airport express (2nd generation) connected via radio and it works very well also. Now I got as a second AE (2nd generation) and want to put it on the floor of the attic to get a stronger signal via Ethernet to my TC. When I connect to a LAN of the TC port to the EI LAN port, the AE salon disconnects. When I add the Ethernet of AE cable in the WAN port both t he AE to the attic and TC disconnected. Currently, it is also connected via radio and it works, but will of course loose flow because it must still go through the different floors through the air compared to a stronger signal via Ethernet.

Question I have, can I connect an AE with an Ethernet cable (and how to set up the AE or TC as a result) and an adverse event via wireless (IE editing exsisting which works, but let me know if you have to configure changes too)?

    Your help is very appreciated.

Can question I have, I connect an adverse event with an Ethernet cable (and how to set up the AE or TC as a result)

Yes, but you will need to restart and reset back to default settings AE. Then connect the Ethernet cable between a LAN <>- on the TC port to the "O" of EI before WAN port you are trying to configure EI.

The problem that you are experiencing now is probably caused by connecting an Ethernet cable to an adverse event that has already been configured to "extend a wireless network. When EI is configured this way, is expected to Wireless ... not Ethernet. Ethernet is applied, it creates a feedback loop huge on the network which can cause all sorts of issues.

Wizard Installation from Apple because most of the work for you. Just click the WiFi icon at the top of the screen of the Mac and then click on AirPort Express under the title of the new AirPort base station.

When you click on AirPort Express, which will start the configuration "Wizard". It will take a few seconds to analyze the network, and then present a screen that looks like this:

Type a device name you want to call the AE, and then click Next.  Monitor the screen following very closely... See the illustration below to confirm that the AE is set up "extend using Ethernet.  Who will confirm that the wizard picked the Ethernet between the TC and AE and apply the correct settings to EI.

When you see the message Setup is complete, click done and you're done.

If the 'other' AE is already set up to extend, then no further changes will be necessary on this device.
