Question of Multiprocessor ACPI

My computer crashed and I had to restore back to the factory setting.  Now, I get a message "Error ACPI Multiprocessor PC".  The system request that I contact the hardware vendor for software that has passed Windows Logo test.  I don't want to pay anything, I want to just restore what I had.  Please notify.

The system tries to install the driver. Simply click on 'Ignore' the next time the message appears and allow installation of the driver. Immediately go to Windows update and look for the critical updates for your system. I'm guessing that you need service pack 3.

  • ACPI multiprocessor HAL is missing

    I have a virtual machine that was created by P2V ING a physical server.  Originally, he had several processors, but as our standard, I changed to a vCPU and updated the HAL.  We would now like to change this server to a vCPU 2 VM, but when I update the drive in Device Manager, there is no option for Multiprocessor ACPI.  The only options are Advacned Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC and Standard PC.  We never seen it before?  This is the first time I took one vCPU multi for 1 vCPU and then again in multi.

    Simply upgrade to SP2, and you change the HAL.  If you do a repair, you must do an F5 (when you see the F6 option for other drivers) and allows you to change the HAL to a multiprocessor during repair.

    What kind of laptop is (make and model).

    If it supports booting from a USB key, you can make a bootable flash drive that starts the recovery XP (no XP media required) Console.

    Surely someone can help you with that (how about it system engineers)?

    There is probably nothing wrong with your hal.dll file - XP only can not find.

    Unfortunately, even the 'new' Microsoft Answers forum does not have any kind of information system when a new question is asked, so we don't know anything about your system.  Not knowing the basic information a problem prolongs the frustration and the agony of these issues.

    Maybe someday the dialog box 'ask a question' forums XP will ask these questions automatically when a new thread is started so I don't have to ask every time.  It might even be possible to solve a problem in a single response when enough information is provided.

    Please provide additional information on your system:

    What is your system brand and model?

    What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

    Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

    The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

    If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

    P. S.

    You are unlikely to simply replace the hal.dll by copying a file hal.dll from another system, and here's why:

    When XP is installed, it selects and develops the hal.dll appropriate among seven possibilities of compressed on the CD of installation files:

    HAL. DL_
    HALAACPI. DL_
    HALACPI. DL_
    HALAPIC. DL_
    HALMACPI. DL_
    HALMPS. DL_
    HALSP. DL_

    Everyone who can be developed in a hal.dll file, so if it is your intention to replace your hal.dll, you should have to understand or know in advance which is the right one for your hardware, motherboard and processor.  If you just picked one at random, you would have a chance of one in seven (14%) to get the right pair.  You will get maybe lucky.

    Most people would simply choose the file hal.dl_ to expand, but it's the simplest, most boring, generic, and less likely to be correct of all the choices.  It might "work" but it will work hard on something very old material of the system or a virtual machine.

    The file hal.dl_ on the CD is the most boring of all:

    HAL. DL_

    * Standard PC

    It's a good choice for some virtual machines (such as VMWare), but a very poor choice for most systems.

    If I wanted to replace the file hal.dll in the same system here, I would need to expand this file:

    HALMACPI. DL_

    * Standard PC
    * Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC
    * Multiprocessor ACPI
    * MPS multiprocessor

    If I wanted to replace the file hal.dll on an older system here, I would need to expand this file:

    HALAACPI. DL_

    * Standard PC
    * Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC
    * ACPI Uniprocessor
    * Multiprocessor ACPI

    If you thought you needed to replace your hal.dll because your system was complaining that the hal.dll file is missing or damaged, the message is misleading, and the real problem is usually the boot.ini file and has nothing to do with the hal.dll file.

    It is also why when people trying to help you give instructions to put in your XP CD and unzip the hal.dl_ file to replace yours, it's usually bad well-meaning advice from a novice.  It is less likely to be the right choice.

    You may be able to copy one from a system with a very similar hardware and the things you can do, but chances are that you will not solve the no boot scenario.  I've never seen a corrupted hal.dll.  Seen the message, not the problem...

    That kind of help is generally going to be very bad - although it sort of logic in a first time and is 'logic', but it will never work favorably and it is usually not the problem anyway.

    I fixed the problem "missing or corrupt hal.dll" several times, but I've never needed to replace a hal.dll file doing - which is never really the problem.

  • Change of HAL in Windows 2003 clients

    I need to change the HAL in my guests if I change the number of vCPU? I currently have a guest with the 2vCPU. Should I change this to an ACPI uniprocessor to a single vCPU? How about if I change the 4 vCPU? I currently have a multiprocessor ACPI PC HAL.

    Mike

    ... or go back 4-2

    The only time you might consider changing your HAL, it is when changing vCPU mono and multi. Basically, the SMP HAL has support for MULTIPLE processors. While the single HAL takes only supported single processors.

    The SMP HAL can also run single vCPU machines. It gives you an additional charge, which could be noticeable when the load of vCPU.

    Multiple VCPU on a HAL singlecpu will not work although I know. I don't think that adding to the singlecpu WHAT HAL vCPUs will make much difference when it comes to performance, so it is best to stay away from here...

  • Satellite Pro L300 - questions ACPI in Linux: buggy dsdt implementation

    Hi, I have a L300 with Insyde BIOS 1.50 and I was struggling with the ACPI in Linux (like many others, the web is littered with hacks and workarounds for this laptop). After you enable the acpi kernel debugging, I noticed that some features were marked as not supported. Decompile and recompile with iasl Intel, I noticed this:

    Method (_OSC, 5, NotSerialized)
    {
    Store (Arg3, Local0)
    Multiply (Local0, 0x04, Local1)
    Name (BUF1, buffer (Local1) {})
    Store (Arg4, BUF1)
    Store (0, Local1)
    Store (zero, Local2)
    While (Local0)
    {
    Multiply (Local1, 0x04, Local2)
    CreateDWordField (BUF1, Local2, ACIP)
    If (Arg2)
    {
    If (equal (Local1, zero))
    {
    And (CAPB, 0xFFFFFFFC)
    }
    }
    On the other
    {
    }

    Increment (Local1)
    Decrement (Local0)
    }

    Return (BUF1)
    }

    Clearly, this does not meet the ACPI specification (of what is (was?) Toshiba active partner on all documents). From my understanding limited specification:

    (1) Method(_OSC... should list 4 rather than 5 args)
    (2) method (_OSC... must be serialized, because it contains a statement of name.
    2 (a) Alternatively the name (... statement could be replaced by a local variable any?)
    (3) and (CAPB, 0xFFFFFFFC) should have a result field. I looked side effects in the specifications, but none, so really this is if else block does nothing as far as I can see. That's where my understanding of the spec let me down. I don't really know what the original intent of the code, so I don't know what to do (though my best guess that is supposed to apply a bitmask for BUF1?).

    I hope someone more knowledgeable can help me solve this problem with an upgrade of the BIOS for this laptop (best) or a temporary to my DSDT solution so that I can send enough information for the Linux ACPI developers to circumvent the problems (not as good because it lets the other alternative operating systems out of the loop).

    Thank you for your time and consideration
    Phen.

    I doubt that anyone here in the forum would be able to help you.
    Here in the forum you would meet people who try to solve common issues of interest.
    Your problem seems more complex.
    Maybe you should check some special Linux why forums

    But who knows, maybe someone here with programmer and Linux knowledge can help you good luck

  • Tecra A2 ACPI question - systems of scaling of the CPU do not work

    Hi *.

    I have Toshiba Tecra A2. It works very well for a year and a half, but now I have some problems. Apparently in ACPI problem. I use SuSE Linux (10.1), but I also have Windows XP Pro on this machine. In both CPU scaling systems do not work.

    Also, when I try to reboot both systems can stop, but then (I thing that it is the BIOS time) just shut down. I can only hold the power button for 5 seconds and material poweroff. I update the bios to version 1.4, set default values, but noting help.

    Any idea? And not only that, is possible to ask Toshiba support center any problem by mail or telephone?

    Thank you
    Branimir Ackovic

    Hi Branimir

    I'm don't know if someone will help you because Linux is not supported for operating system. Your device has two operating systems and also start Manager and there is no standard situation after discount and supported OS is there without any other substance.

    On this path, it is not easy to make a serious diagnosis, but you can try to contact the hotline of Toshiba. Please see the official page of Toshiba Europe under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

    I put t know in which country you live, but you can also try to contact authorized partner. Addresses you will find under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_gaspLocator.jsp?pf=true

  • Satellite Pro A200GE - 26Q: Question about Windows update "TOSHIBA x 64 ACPI Compliant logical value.

    Hello

    I have a Satellite Pro A200GE-26. It has a core 2 duo T7200, running vista 32 provided with the computer (now sp1).

    Windows Update offers me the following optional update: 'TOSHIBA TOSHIBA - other hardware - x 64 compatible ACPI value logical and general-purpose device' but I am concerned that at present in Device Manager, the computer is listed as "ACPI x 86 based pc.

    Does anyone know why windows update offers this for me and if I install it?

    Thanks for any help!

    This update is available for all units of Core2Duo.
    As you already wrote it is optional, and you must not install it. If you use original recovery image Toshiba you have no need for the functionality of the laptop. Using the recovery image or you have installed your own OS?

  • Satellite P100-429 - Question about fans and ACPIs etc.

    Hi all

    I have read a number of thread on this forum regarding the work (or not!) with the P100 series fans.
    I use Ubuntu Feisty (7.04) I've updated my DSDT with a custom compiled version and also uses the version 3.30 BIOS... I had to do in order to get the sound working on this laptop.

    However, I noticed that the fan on the left side of the laptop never turns under Linux. It turns on with XP.
    The fan at the back of the computer seems fine no lights when the CPU is running...

    What is the GPU fan?
    Nobody knows if this will be quickly resolved... I raised a few applications support with Toshiba in the hope that it will make a difference.

    Also doesn't someone at - it will suspend / hibernate works correctly (i.e. sound and networking works when he took over)...

    Thank you

    This will not work, im have the same Toshiba model. The BIOS has a big problem and it's bugged.
    IM tested all combinations, no results.

  • Tecra A9: Windows does not start after you turn off multiprocessor in BIOS

    I use a Toshiba Tecra A9 with a Core 2 duo. I need to change the bios setting to run a special program, "multiprocessor: disable. Now, I've changed back to the bios setting "multiprocessor: activate ' and win xp stop start after login. With "multiprocessors: Disable" the computer starts normally. If I press F8 after starting the computer and select save mode, the computer starts.
    I don't have any idea what I can do to solve this problem.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

    Maybe the ACPI-Multi CPU driver was not installed correctly or a MS patch is necessary.
    I read on some similar topic websites.
    It is very important that the XP SP2 has been installed and other patches.

    At this time the new Win XP SP3 is available. I think that this is a beta version, but I already installed it on my XP OS.

    So maybe you should enable the multiprocessor option in the BIOS then you need to install the XP again. Then install all available Ms patches, fixes and eventually the SP3 too.

    Then check again.

    One question; Are you using the newest BIOS?

    First of all the latest BIOS is published on the page of the Toshiba UE driver and this time its BIOS v3.10

    The laptop s BIOS is already up-to-date. As you wrote; its v3.10 and, therefore, the update is not possible.

    Back to the question of pilot:
    You try to install a driver from NVIDIA: 331.67. This driver is not released on the Toshiba UE driver page.
    The latest nVidia Driver on the Toshiba UE driver page is 8.1 Win v9.18.13.2660 driver.

    This driver is supported by Toshiba and should be used in the case where win 8.1 installation.

    In the case of another Windows system, copy the driver page published for this particular operating system driver

  • Satellite A300-211 - ACPI overheating

    Hello

    Recently my laptop overheating to frequently. I had this problem before and I bought the cooling package and everything was fine. But now, despite the external cooling device he stil stops. I run SpeedFan to see what is causing this problem. Two hearts runs at an acceptable temperature. But there is that this thing called ACPI - Temp1. Exactly what is it? I used compressed air to clean fan and what I was able to clean with keyboard just disassembled.

    I do complete the cleaning? And last question. Is this fan the only source of cooling in my netbook
    I mean it's the only thing I should replace if cleaning does not work?

    Friend of mine has a similar problem with Satellite A300. Problem was overheating and suddenly switch offs. I disassembled the laptop and cleaned the area of cooling fan and cooling rack. It was full of dust and cooling rack was blocked by dust.

    After cleaning laptop was able to catch his breath and he has worked quietly and without compromise.
    I imagine that your laptop is also full of dust and must be cleaned but not using compressed air. Believe me, it must be disassembled cleaned in professional way.

    I must also say that the disassembly can be dangerous if you do it yourself. Something may be damaged so maybe you shouldn't do it yourself. Try to find someone who can do it for you.
    Accredited maintainer can do for you also but I can't say how much it costs. Contact and ask how it works.

  • A few questions after the downgrade of Win 7 on Satellite U940 - 11L

    Hello

    friend of mine bought the Toshiba Satellite U940 - 11L which had Windows 8 on it, due to some reasons that she wanted to have Windows 7 installed on it, which was pretty easy.

    Trouble came with the installation of the Symantec touchpad, after installing the drivers, it worked for about 10-15 minutes but then it stopped working.

    Tried to uninstall and install again but no luck, found a few discussions where it was suggested to remove all the devices, remove the battery and the power cord.

    Press the power button for 15 seconds and then power back on but still not lucky (I wasn't in the restoration of the default settings of the Bios I did not any change it outside disabling secure boot and replacing UEFI CSM that was needed to run win 7 on it).

    Tried about 4 different sources when it comes to the drivers but still does not work. I checked the Device Manager Dev but see no conflict, and it shows that the unit works fine but the problem persists. Please note that the drivers were specific to windows 7.

    Please if you have any suggestions we would greatly appriciate it.

    On another note, I'm not able to install the bluetooth it (HW ID shows as ACPI\TOS6205), I tried to install it several times but no luck because it always shows as unknown device in the dev Manager. The driver that I use is Bluetooth Filter Driver Package as info.

    Also, the computer is slower than it was with Windows 8, I suspect the reason for this is the fact that the installation of win 7 I accidentally erased part of the hybrid drive SSD (the size was 11.2 GB if I remember correctly, yes silly me...). I wasn't looking for a while on the net to see if there is a way to fix it but no luck so far.

    Thank you very much for your time and your suggestions!

    Tony

    With regard to the question of the touchpad.
    To my knowledge, the touchpad should work even if the Synaptics touchpad driver has not been installed. Windows system contains own driver that control the touchpad and provide standard settings. Of course after installing the Synapatics driver, you should get a few more options and features more touchpad.

    I recommend you to download the driver for the touchpad from Synaptics driver page and install it again: http://www.synaptics.com/resources/drivers

    With regard to the problem of BT.
    The laptop supports WLan Intel (Intel Wireless-N 2230) card that supports BT connectivity. Bt driver filter pack is ONLY necessary if you laptop would use an Atheros WLan card or Realtek WLan card. For the Intel WLan modules such package of filter is NOT necessary. To get BT to work, you must install the battery Toshiba BT!

  • Satellite X 200 - 25A - need driver ACPI for the hidden devices

    Hello world!

    I'm a new * Satellite X 200-25A * owner.

    I just finished installing Windows XP Professional (32 bit) on my new X 200-25A.
    I installed successfully, EACH driver FOUND on the official website of Toshiba for WinXP,
    and everything seems to work properly.

    Just a question:

    When I open the Windows Device Manager and choose see also all hidden devices.
    In my view, there is still something without driver support:

    1. a Non-Plug-and Play device & unknown.
    The only piece of information on this subject is: * ACPI/CPL0001/2 & DABA3FF & 0 *.

    2. a pilot no-Plug n Play & called "Serial".

    Please someone tell how can I solve this problem.

    Thanks now to the entire community!

    Why don't you believe there is no answer? It is user of forum, and if someone wants to write something you will be lucky to have a few comments. If this is not the case, there is nothing to see.
