Questions of Power Options

There are many Options of power that are difficult to understand.  I tried to find answers in the help, but there were many that I couldn't find.

What is "slide show"?

What is "the USB selective suspend setting?

What is "PCI Express" and "Link State Power Management"?

What is "the Minimum processor state"?

What is 'cooling system strategy?

What is "the Maximum processor state"?

What is 'Java script timer frequency?

What is 'reserve battery level?

I have references for these or whatever the answers may be provided.

Note - 04/03/13:

Here is the reference to the "other matter" I had on power options, as mentioned in one of the positions below:

http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-windows_programs/can-power-options-be-copied-to-a-file/4ce04a5c-ed39-4AD1-828d-931ad4d34f0d

MS documents I gave you links to your other question of answers to these questions.

Useful reserve battery level settings would need more explanation.

  • Satellite R830: Question about power for battery usage options

    Hello world

I recently bought a R830-182 (detailed configuration below).
I had to update Windows 7 Home Premium Ultimate because I need to use it on my university network.

My University gives us an upgrade to windows 7 ultimate edition, but I had to do a clean install (from inside Windows 7 Home Edition, copy the upgrade you can do).
The key, with what they gave me would not work with the Windows anytime upgrade utility.

I think that I have installed everything that I need to get the laptop to work, but I'm not sure of the configuration of the battery. The cooling fan seems to be always on, and when the battery reaches 100% charge that he also said that he is in charge.

    My questions are:
    1. is there another program I have to install to allow the computer manage settings of the battery?
    2. do I need to change some settings in the power options?
3 should. what settings I change in power options?

    Any help would be welcome
    Kind regards

  • Power options in the control panel are empty - can't do anything.

Recently, I noticed that the Power Options in the control panel is empty.  I can't create something or do something there.  Could something in Services.msc have disabled this?  Nowhere part that I should look at?  I cannot stop, restart, or put it to sleep.  Also when I start the computer (once using the hardware Reset button on the computer case) he does not remember my user name.  He asks me every time.  There is no password.  I just press ENTER after entering my user name.

So I found the magic formula to use the command run and it resets everything back to normal.  Can't find it now but if you google it you can find.  You want to reset the Power Options in the control panel.

His time, I have contributed something here!  I'm always ask questions and rarely give all the answers.  :)

I'm changing Power Options to never sleep or Hibernate, but as far as I have to change the settings is not to do it.  I have upgraded to Windows 10.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you

    Hi Felicity,

I make a few assumptions, but you can go into advanced settings and turn off some other things like putting to sleep HARD drive. From there on, make sure that both your battery and plugged on options are set correctly.

Finally, maybe a screenshot of the issue would help others contribute more to your question.

  • Power Options and reset randomly sleep mode settings.

It turns out that windows 7 will change ALL its parameters of power in itself! I'll let him sleep a few nights, come home and wake up... only to see my login screen. (I have the normally disabled option in power options). But all my work is always there, so the machine does not restart (or turn off and just resume hybrids) is for sure in s3. Power options check and everything is set crazy, not all back to the default values for either.

I'm running Windows 7 x 64 Home Premium. This becomes extremely annoying to say the least... Can settle us this?

Thank you dewbert I've found that if I go to the command prompt by using 'powercfg' I was able to turn off all the power settings (I like mine to be always running until I want to turn off without exception) I disabled standby, hibernation and set to never turn off monitor and several other parameters. Here is a link to these parameters and so far no more problem.

  • NB200 122 - loading using the battery power options

    Dear all

I recently bought a Toshiba NB 200-122 Mini Netbook, I tried to use all the power options (full power)... always shows 15% battery (charge) even if I kept it charging for a day in hibernation mode... (when connected to the power unit).

Other laptops would be fully load 100% when it is connected to the unit of power for one day...

Why the netbook battery is slow or not clean load?...
Or other options with her... Or having to drain the battery completely and use it...

Could someone suggest me some advice about this...

    Thank you

    regards Sarah

    Hi Sarah,.

I agree with the user above. You should try a BIOS update you can find the Toshiba site. Before applying it, close all programs running also your antivirus and firewall and make sure that you are logged on as administrator.

In the worst case you battery is damaged or some cells in it. You can get a spare to an authorized service provider.

  • Satellite P10 804: Toshiba Power Options - how to disable Hibernation

    Model SP10 - 804

How to turn off the Hibernation feature?

The 'Enable Hibernation' box is checked and grayed out so I can't uncheck it!
I don't use this feature and would like to delete the hiberfil.sys file that is beyond 1 GB.

I understand that by disabling the hibernation, this file should remove. I read about it here:
    http://www.softwarepatch.com/tips/Hiberfil-sys-XP.html

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I presume that the Toshiba Power saver utility has been installed on your system.
In this case, the windows own power options are disabled and the TPS control the hibernation and the day before.

You can switch to the mode of power window in Control Panel-> power options control.
Here, you have to choose to another scheme of power as the Toshiba power saver.
Otherwise, you can remove the GST from the system!

However, in my opinion the hiberfil.sys has no bad influence on the system and it is really not necessary to delete that file.
On my system, the file size was never 1 GB.

  • Sleep icon does not appear in the power options

I just closed the lid of my Lenovo ThinkPad T460s only once but since then I can't see "sleep" icon under options of 'power' to the main screen. How can I see the icon of sleep again?

    Hello

The reason why sleep does not appear in the power options is your Intel graphics card.

Please try to disable Intel graphics in the Device Manager and turn it back on.

If it still shows yellow bang, try to download the latest Intel graphics driver from Lenovo site.

    I hope this information helps.

  • lost hibernation startup command menu, why can't find it in the power options and enable the Hibernate?

  • I can't control the sleep display option - display decreasing intensity 5 minutes despite Power Options

    I have a HP Pavilion dv7, running Win 7 Professional SP1 x 64. It was purchased in 2010.

The display dims (goes to dark blue, not black, the desktop is not visible) after 5 minutes of inactivity.

The cover of the computer is open, pc is connected, nothing else is running.

I have power Options (Control Panel--> equipment) and its--> power for trendy Options value

HP recommended and I have edited the plan to these settings:

    • The brightness... 20 minutes
    • Turn off the display... 45 minutes
    • Put the computer to sleep... 1 hour

I put these time abnormally high just to see if the system will follow this plan, and it's not.

Which bothers me more that gradation display after 5 minutes.

Are there other system options that replace power options?

Please point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Your blue gradation display can show it's a flavor of screen running.

Check it out and set it to none.
