randomly changed computer resolution

Hi, Im using my TV as a screen for my computer.  The other day the resolution passed under big screen in full screen and now I have black bars on each side of the image.  The resolution is 1024 x 768, which should be to the right of the screen?  No other resolution not working using your TV as a monitor more.  How can I fix?  Thank you.

Thank you for the additional information.

I think that the Ratio of appearance may have changed from 16:9, 4:3.  If you are looking for a s. 33 in the manual of the TV he talks on Auto Aspect Ratio.  When it is set to 4:3 normal (4:3 normal natural (with sidebars)) indicates that it has the side bars.  This is what, according to me, that black bands are on the screen.  Take a look at the settings to see if that's the problem.

  • zBook 14 - cannot change the resolution of the screen after update

After I installed software updates the portable suggested to me, my screen resolution went suddenly from 1900 x 1200 at 1200 x 720 after reboot and it won't let me change it, not even to a lower resolution. I'm very frustrated, because I need the computer week next for visualization work and I really need the screen works well.

It doesn't let me change the resolution. Graphics and display drivers are up-to-date and functioning according to Device Manager. I did a system restore, but that just do everything worse although the resolution worked once again thing, I had to run a repair of the start several times before that my laptop would be starting another property again. This does not resolve the issue, given that the display drivers are not working properly (videos have been viewed very badly) and even after updating the computer won't start again, so I had made another system of recovery and now I'm to the point where I can not change the resolution and starting to be really frustrating. Also, (if it even starts) Windows is constantly freezing, forcing me to hard reboot.

Thanks for any help, that all the world can offer.

This looks like a lot of problems, you have there.

First thing I would say is to do a check of the basic material. Your laptop will be built Diagnostics the F2 button on the HP logo. The hard drive on a test extended (approximately 45 minutes - 2 hours) and the memory test. If these two go, consider downloading of UEFI diagnoses from the above drivers download section. In all honestly, I think this unnecessary step for most, it tells not usually defects that are already not obvious. But he should have a graphics test, if it will throw a failure even if it is faulty is another matter but when even, of a value of a test.
If all else fails, download on the phone for the HP warranty.

If anything fails, run the memory on memtest86 + for about 12 to 24 hours. Download you, it's free, burn it to a cd and the start of it. And it works simply, in case of error, you have a fault memory.

If anything fails on any diags, then nothing is most likely false, cool reimageries windows probably will solve the problem and its probably just a form of spyware or corruption of driver or something. Backup your data, reinstall a new copy of windows.

But in my experience, from doubtful, repairs etc... freezing randomly and other problems are often a sign of a failing hard drive. And diagnostic tests are not always 100% to pick up a failing drive. For the most part, but not always. So, if its still high reading after a reimage, review the reader always a potential source of the problem.

To the extent where it won't let you change the resolution? What you mean? As for the option is grayed out? Can you maybe post a screenshot and a screenshot of your device with the extended graphics card Manager.

I'm down and back up to close it, but can not see the screen to do anything it is like a curtain that I see a bit of color behind the layer

If the screen resolution is set to a setting that your monitor is not supported, the screen can be empty.

Try to boot mode safe (repeatedly press the F8 key as your computer starts up).  Safe mode will come with a screen resolution standard (but large) that support all monitors.  If you can then see your screen, change your resolution to something that is supported by your monitor.  If you make the wrong choice and your screen turns black, don't panic, just do not touch anything and wait about 30 seconds and will return to the screen.  Once you properly set your resolution, then reboot in normal mode.

  • Change the resolution of normal-vista through Safe mode-vista

    Hello!

I installed a demo version of this game of strategy, 'Starcraft 2 '. After installation, I try to play. However, without warning the game changes permanently my screen resolution to a value that is compatible with my monitor (says my Samsung TV/Pc monitor ~ "cannot display resolution")

Even after restarting Vista, remains the problem of resolution. Still no display.

Vista safe mode, but displays in another resolution and works very well (I am writing this message in SafeMode). Now, I can change the resolution here, but whatever the changes I make do not transfer to normal-Vista mode.

If anyone, please tell me, How to change the display resolution of the normal mode, safe mode? Alternatively, how can I change the resolution, 'the eyes bandaged?

I uninstalled and will avoid the game.

I also tried the system restore, twice in fact, just to be sure. Picked dates from before I even heard of the release of the demo, but it still does not work. The display resolution is still off enough to leave my empty screen.

Try the following, but do it in Safe Mode so that you can see everything on the screen...

    1. set DPI:
Right-click on a free space of the desktop > customize > column to the left, adjust the size of police (in PPP) > uac prompt > click default scale (96 DPI).

    2. resolution:
Right-click on a free space of the desktop > Personalize > Display Setings > move the slider to the right or left whatever the case may be. Check your user manual, see if she tells you what resolution is for your computer. My laptop is using 1280 x 800 pixels.

Here is a table of the guide line:

    Monitor 15 inch

    1024 × 768

    17 to 19 inch monitor

    1280 × 1024

    monitor 20 inch and liked

    1600 × 1200

  • Updates change the resolution

The last two times that installed Windows automatic updates, the next time I used the computer, the resolution was changed to one that is less than the optimum for Windows Vista.  I did a system restore every time to solve the problem, because it was easier than trying to figure out how to reset the resolution.  Why do auto update change my resolution?

    To change your display resolution:

    1. right click on the desktop and select "personalize".

    2. click on "Display settings" at the bottom.

    3. in the window that appears, move the slider to change your resolution. If you don't know what you want, try to drag the increment of a cursor at a time and by clicking on 'Apply' at the bottom to try the resolution. Note: If you change the resolution to one that is not supported by your monitor and your screen becomes black or displays an error message, DO NOT PRESS ANYTHING! Wait 15 to 20 seconds and the display will return to a compatible resolution.

Now that you know how to change your resolution, you can feel free to install updates in the future.

    Hope this fixes your problems,

    Rifdhan

    Change the screen resolution

Screen resolution refers to the clarity of the text and images on your screen. At higher resolutions, items appear sharper. They appear also smaller, so more items adapted to the screen. At lower resolutions, fewer items adapted to the screen, but they are larger and easier to see. At very low resolutions, however, images may have serrated edges.

  • Photoshop, change the resolution of the screen on startup

    Hi all

I'm working on a new Dell XPS 15 laptop computer. All the drivers are up to date. I tried to reinstall the Psalm

Everytime I open Photoshop the screenresolution is automatically changed to 2560 x 1440 to 1920 x 1080 and I get an Error Message in the background (the operating system is not configured for this application). I can manually return and continue working. But next time ill start it happens everywhere. It's a little boring. All other Adobe applications seem to work well.

    Thanks for help.

Photoshop cannot normally change your screen resolution, but there are applications that can be configured to change the resolution as launching an application. On Windows when an application is run in compatibility mode possible of put so the resolution also changes. Click right photoshop.exe, select Properties, compatibility and check any of the boxes of resolution are verified. I'd watch if there is a utility on your Dell running in the background designed to change the resolution.

I took a glance at your laptop and its native resolution is 3840 x 2160, No 2560 x 1440 except that varies from a model. It is worth noting is 3840 x 2160 (1920 x 2) x (1080 x 2) and you get the half that is 1920 x 1080. This could suggest that you set Photoshop to the scale of the display. Make sure that the parameters of scaling in your preferences are fixed to 100%

    Hope that helps
