Is your partitioning scheme portable GUID partition table or MBR partition table inherited?

You can find that in accessing the management snap the computer, and then click Disk Management. If your laptop is installed UEFI environment there is a good chance that your laptop can use a GPT, because it is a requirement for the GPT.

Your laptop has Windows 8 installed simply access the charm the search and type in computer management, click settings and then you will see a work management icon to the left. Click on it. The following image is an example of the component console snap-in for disk management.

How do you know if your PC uses GPT or MBR

It will be a little critical information. MBR (Master boot record) parttioning system has a limit of four primary partitions, unlike the TPG, which allows an unlimited number of partitions.

I noticed that there are no Windows 8 drivers for your laptop. That must mean that the original operating system was Windows 7. Who should do the dual-boot fairly simple If you already have recovery media and have no firther to use for the recovery partition.

I then installed to restart computer usb thumb drive, and only windows would charge. Ubuntu is on the menu, but it does not load. Then I removed the usb drive that is enabled on the computer and nothing. My computer is not something with usb output. • Installation of Ubuntu on Gateway NE56R41u

Hello! I think installing Ubuntu on my gateway NE56R, I'm wondering a few things, can free acer drivers for linux for this computer if possible?

Also the big question for most is my computer compatible really, I tried the live usb, and it loads so fast on ubuntu 15.04.  Another big question would be like I should restore the windows Boot Manager, as this laptop is UEFI and Ubuntu would install GRUB boot manager, also if I install ubuntu and say remove one or two years (probably not as I'm a geek ) and well if I how would remove GRUB in the UEFi boot menu?

But the more important things to do I need drivers for you guys and you know if this PC is compatible? There is no warranty on the laptop... If that were the case I would have contacted the live chat, but cannot...

Yes, or you can use the auto repair since installation of windows media.

  • HP Envy 4 1050ca Installation of Ubuntu Linux 12.1

My urge 4 works celebrates. I tried to install Ubuntu 12.1 using windows install Ubuntu. The installation went very well, it seemed, but when the laptop rebooted and I chose Ubuntu in the start menu of Windows OS, it crashed. It seems that the Ubuntu Installer cannot see the drive 500Gbyte. I have read several posts with different solutions, including modifying the bios. I don't want to disrupt functionality of recovery on the 4 of envy, is there a simple method to allow a linux install?

I would recommend this post on a forum of Ubuntu, because most of the people on these forums do not have experience with this OS and the fact that HP does not support this OS. You would have better luck find a solution by asking around here.

  • Installation of Ubuntu

Hello I want to install Ubuntu on my laptop.but I have heard that some Linux distributions burn cpu! Is this true?

    especially on vinux! ?

    My laptop: HP 1000-1115TX

So is it possible to I install new version of Ubuntu on my laptop?

If I install Linux; How can I find my drivers for laptop to Ubuntu?

Please help me to install linux(Ubuntu distribution) on my laptop and especially on the cpu!

    Thank you very much.

No, everything you read/heard is not 100% good.

Linux is very stable under Windows. I'm using Linux Mint KDE 14.

All the (public) drivers are installed automatically during the installation.

If you are using the correct settings and good graphics drivers, it works, runs smooth buttered.

You can expect temperatures of about 40 to 50 degrees, Cels. When the room temperature is about 25-30 degrees Cels.

  • Installation of Ubuntu on Inspiron 15R special edition

I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition and I tried to install Ubuntu LTS 14.04 on it. The installation went well, but he could not start after installation. I tried to disable SecureBoot in the BIOS and I restarted the computer. He has yet to start. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Try again installing with Secure Boot disabled and make sure of two things:

    1. to select UEFI DVD in BIOS to start

    2. need for 64-bit Ubuntu 14.04 (supports UEFI)

Keep you the version of Windows that has been preloaded from the Dell factory or you install with Windows or erase Windows and replace it with Ubuntu?

You will need to repartition your hard disk, so that Windows does not recognize the file system that Ubuntu Linux uses by default (which is ext3). You can do within Ubuntu Linux using several different tools, or if you are more interested in the use of Ubuntu Linux you can repartition the disk in the installation of Windows.

PLEASE NOTE: The following allows you to delete all the data contained on your hard drive. I can't be held responsible for any data loss that may be incurred. Please make sure that you back up your data before you run the following commands. Use at your own risk.

Repartition the drive by using the Windows installation:

    1. Insert the Windows 7 installation in your DVD Player DVD.
    2. restart your computer and boot from the DVD drive when asked ("press any key to boot from the CD or DVD... »)
3 Windows Setup will load, give him a few moments.
    4. When you see the installation screen of Windows 7 with "Windows Installer", press SHIFT + F10.

    6. at the diskpart prompt, type select disk 0and press ENTER.

  • Looking for advice reg Oracle 12 c installation on Ubuntu

    Hi gurus,

I need your advice on the installation of Oracle 12 c.

    Background:

Our application uses the Hibernate Java framework and its works well on Oracle 11 g.

Our customer wants to use Oracle 12 c for good.

I just need to confirm if my application runs on Oracle 12 c with existing configurations.

    My problem:

I'm pondering different options to quickly install Oracle 12 c on my Ubuntu. My network speed and bandwidth are not great, I prefer download as less as possible as my intention is simply to check the compatibility of my application. I was able to install Oracle 11 g 2 on my system which took a lot of effort, and I don't want to disturb this facility.

Here are the options I'm considering. Please guide me what is the possible choice and better quality. (As now I have not downloaded any software expect Oracle VM Virtual Machine for Ubuntu which is a 90 MB size)

    (1) I have vmware installed, download image for Oracle for Linux and Oracle 12 c database for Oracle for Linux. Create a virtual OS for Oracle for Linux, run Oracle 12 c

    (2) Download Oracle VM Virtual Machine for Ubuntu, download image for Oracle for Linux and Oracle 12 c database for Oracle for Linux. Create a virtual OS for Oracle for Linux and run Oracle 12 c. Installation of Oracle VM Virtual Machine for Ubuntu is to give a few problems that need to be sorted

    (3) download a Redhat Linux image and run it from VMware. Since Oracle 12 c is certified for Redhat, install on Redhat on Virtual Machine

    (4) install Oracle 12 c on Ubuntu itself through guides available on the web.

    My config system as follows:

    Ubuntu

    12.04 precision 64-bit output

    Kernel Linux 3.8.0 - 42-generic

    GNOME 3.4.2

    Memory: 7.7 G

    Processor: CPU i5 - 3230M @ 2.6 Ghz x 4

    Available disk space: 55.le GB

[in case it is the best place for the question, please direct me to the same.]

OK, it looks like your reference to 'Oracle for Linux' is in fact 'Oracle' - Oracle Linux version of the Linux operating system, built out of Red Hat Linux.

If this is what you mean - create a virtual machine that is running Oracle Linux... then, running Oracle RDBMS on this virtual machine, and then you run on an operating system taken supported Oracle.  It doesn't really matter what the host's OS.

Mind you, you would be probably hard pressed to actually get support in the form of an SR, but it does not appear that's really your concern, and it doesn't seem to me, the way I read your post, it should be a matter of concern.  You just want to run oracle on an OS that will be easy to install and have a justified expectation that thing will work as documented.

    (2) Download Oracle VM Virtual Machine for Ubuntu, download image for Oracle for Linux and Oracle 12 c database for Oracle for Linux. Create a virtual OS for Oracle for Linux and run Oracle 12 c. My previous comment seems to also apply to the #2 and #3 elements.

    (4) install Oracle 12 c on Ubuntu itself through guides available on the web.

    Bad idea.

    My config system as follows:

    Ubuntu

    12.04 precision 64-bit output

    Kernel Linux 3.8.0 - 42-generic

    GNOME 3.4.2

    Available disk space: 55.le GB

55g available disk could be things short cut.  If you cannot release everything, you could get an external drive for a very reasonable cost and put your entire VM installation on it.  See other comments about the CPU for virtualization products.

  • 32-bit installation on Ubuntu 11.10 WS8 failure

Has anyone installed 32-bit Workstation 8 on (32-bit) Ubuntu 11.10?  When I try it fails with this odd result:

    root@Disco:/var/tmp# sh VMware-Workstation-Full - 8.0.0 - 471780.i386.bundle
    Extract the VMware Installer... done.
One or more of your processors do not have the necessary 64
extensions to run VMware virtual machines.
    Installation failed.
    root@Disco:/var/tmp#
Why the 32-bit Setup program will search for the 64-bit extensions?
    Has anyone else seen elsewhere?

    64-bit processor is required:

In addition, you need to enable Intel-VT in the host BIOS.

    Hello

The temperature of the CPU to 50 ° and 52 ° is not too high
Maybe it s a little bit more by using the operating system with preinstalled Toshiba Power Saver, but you shouldn't worry about this value.

The temperature of the CPU is ok
