Re: Is-screen on the A500-1GL 32 or 64 bits?

My screen broke and I was wondering what I was looking for.
I know the part no for the original screen is LTN160AT06-A01 but is this screen 32 or 64-bit?

Any help would be appreciated gratefully.
Thank you

Screen has nothing to do with the operating system that is supported. Just be sure that you will order the screen right and compatible.

The guy with the A500-1GL, please, tell me what version of Toshiba Power Saver do you currently have? It is displayed in the menu of advanced power settings.

    Hey,.

Why the version is so important to you?
Important thing is that everything is working properly and portable saves energy if she runs with low CPU utilization.

  • Satellite A500-1GL - cannot upgrade the BIOS

    Hello

I tried to upgrade the BIOS on my Satellite A500-1GL (PSAR9E) for awhile now, but a dead battery so I can not go beyond the security check at the beginning. Is it all of the way around it, like I'm connected with current alternative, so I don't see what the problem is! Could I have possibly self-extracting zip files.

Any help would be appreciated as this is very frustrating!

    Hello

I think that you will not be able to update the BIOS, if your battery is dead.
Victory based BIOS update can be updated from Windows system, and there is a security option that allow you to update the BIOS only if the laptop is connected to the power adapter and if the battery is charged.

You can update the BIOS using a traditional BIOS version, but as far as I know that Toshiba service partner could do that.

    If you have two options:
Purchase a battery in order to update the BIOS by using win according to BIOS version or you will get in touch with an ASP in your country and will ask you to update the BIOS by using the traditional version of BIOS.

But the BIOS update is necessary to you?

I have a laptop with the old BIOS version and I don't have that day even if the new version has been released.

    Hello world.

I intend to buy the new laptop and I saw the specs of the Satellite A500-1 F4 and Satellite L505-13W. I love the 16 "in A500 display but there is one thing is not clear, what do they mean on screen truebright? Compared to L505, he has LED HD display.

In addition, what is much better video card? NVIDIA GE force or ATI Radeon? The A500 and L505 have the same capacity 1 GB graphics card, the difference of the brand.

I have very good experiences with ATI.

  • Satellite A500-1GL - power of Windows 7 and the games options

    Hi all

Some know maybe my previous posts about my problem with the fan on my Satellite A500-1GL worry when I'm online game. It is disturbing to hit the 90%. And his pass even with the update of the BIOS and Toshiba now advise to do a factory restore then fails to send in for repair.
    Looking at the power options,

I was wondering if someone could recommend this power options I should consider and it would have made no difference for the wise game fan (secondlife seems to be the main problem with the fan turn the crank to the top)

Any help would be appreciated, trying to think of something that might help which may be a simple solution to this problem of fan
    Torti :)

    Hello

To be honest, a lot of activity of fan during the games would be normal I think because games need a lot of CPU and GPU power, they always run at a very high level. This means a lot of heat will occur and it must be cooled to avoid damage.

Of more if I have the games, it s not important how the fan noise creates because I hear music or dialogue game Isn t it so? ;)

In any case, from time to time it s advisable to clean the cooling system of your laptop using a jet of compressed air:
[How to clean a Toshiba laptop cooling system? | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=40]

And for games, you can use high power option or balanced Windows Performance.

  • Satellite A500-1GL: what are the essential drivers for Win7 64 bit

    Hello

First of all, sorry for my English, I'm french :)

Second, I'm going to buy this PC next month and I have the opportunity to buy it without a Windows license (I'm already a Windows license).
So I'm lost to find the drivers on the download page, because there are several versions of drivers (for example drivers: Nvidia or Realtek Semiconductor Corporation)

(Important drivers) drivers I need to download once to install Windows Seven 64-bit.

Thirdly, I would like to know if it is possible to install display drivers downloaded from the Web of Nvidia site and not that of Toshiba?

    Thanks for your help :)

    Berillions

    Hello

    > So I'm lost to find the drivers on the download page, because there are several versions of drivers
Satellite A500-1GL is a part of the PSAR9E series. If you need drivers then you must choose Satellite A500 PSAR9E

    > What (important drivers) drivers I need to download once to install Windows Seven 64-bit.
Almost all of the drivers are important... the essential drivers are sound, lan, wlan, graphic card driver, touchpad, etc.
VAP (value added package) and utility support memory card Flash are required for keys FN and buttons of media control

    > Thirdly, I would like to know if it is possible to install display drivers downloaded from the Web of Nvidia site and not that of Toshiba?
Usually it s not recommended to use the drivers from nVidia or an ATI page because these drivers don't support drivers Toshiba overheating protection
But if you want to use the nVidia drivers so that at you own risk

Installation can be a bit harder running the exe file will not work because you will get a message that this driver is not allowed, but you can install all the drivers in Device Manager you can point to the driver files, stored on the HARD drive and this will allow to choose the nVidia Driver

  • F2 BIOS SET-UP button stopped working on the Satellite A500-1GL

    I recently bought a Satellite A500-1GL
The use of the F2 key at startup to access the BIOS worked fine until I changed the settings in BIOS to get a faster position for Windows 7, then after this change, that the F2 key gets me to the BIOS, the computer laptop just posts to Windows 7.

I downloaded and installed Hardware Set Up program of Toshiba which adjusts the BIOS settings while still in Windows, but how the "F2" to work again?
I thought changing the hard drive might work, but it did not.
I seemed to have lost access to the bios using the F2 key.

    > changed the settings in the BIOS to get a faster position for Windows 7
Now to maybe stupid question, but what is the name of this option?

When you start your laptop you see on the background info on the use of F2 to enter the BIOS settings, or too?

  • Why the disc retains when reading startup satellite A500-1GL

Does anyone know why the disk keeps reading at the start of the A500. I was wondering if this has something to do with the Toshiba startup items - if so, how much is really needed in msconfig?

The disk is defragmeted and there is no hardware problems.

There is a normal Internet security so I don't think it's that.

  • Satellite A500-1GL: recovery reached Office Reboot again and again - solved

I did a restore on my Satellite A500-1GL using F8 to recovery on the HARD drive.

However after the computer goes through the implementation of Windows 7 for the first time, from desktop it immediately disconnects and restarts.

This process of setting up Windows for the first time, including initialization screen white with logoff bar then immediate green and stop constantly repeats.

Same result with Recovery CD I created again.

It is no longer an option to repair the computer when you press F8.

    Any suggestions please?

If I end up having to reinstall Windows 7 from another copy, then how can I go about it like

-It turns out that he must restart about 6 - 7 times to complete the installation.

    Hello

As I see that everything is fine. It is logical that laptop restarts several times while recovery facility is running. I do not know how it looks with your machine, but when I use the recovery machine it starts with the number 1/64. With other words, it must be installed 64 components (software) and then some of them laptop restarts simply but installation will continue.

When the recovery image is complete it is still displayed on the screen and the laptop owner is notified that installation of recovery has been completed successfully.

    Hello

The version of the video driver 275.33 is not an official version of Toshiba. I checked the Web from Toshiba site and for your model of laptop (model PSAR9E number) version 8.16.11.8875 is the most recent. So I recommend installing this display driver because it s pre-tested Toshiba designed for your model of laptop display driver.

    I hope that helps! :)

It may be Bios or hardware malfunction. Sorry, mate, but I think you should contact the Asp (SAV). I guess your knees is small stream under warranty, so can be fixed for free
