Re: Satellite A - alarm after an intallation of USB modem

Hi all

I need help with my laptop. A couple of months, I installed in my computer, a USB modem in my Toshiba, from then on every time I want turno on my computer before I need to remove all plug on it otherwise it sounds a strong alarm. Anyone know how to remove it? and why is it happening?
Thank you, I read the instructions, but I could not find out about it.

Can you give more information please?
For example, the model laptop, OS and this modem that you tried to install.

You get an error message or just sound?
Do you find it in Windows, or until you start in Windows?

Perhaps the reason for this problem is the modem driver. Have you updated?
Visit the site of the factory for an update.

    Hello

You must update the BIOS again! There is a new version 5.20 !

This should fix any problems that may occur after the update to version 5.10 of Bios.

  • Satellite M110: The USB Modem broadband wireless fails to install

    Hi all

    I have a satellite M110 machine under XP SP3.

I've tried two different brands of wireless USB modems. The two installation the corectly modem drivers and Device Manager shows this. However, pilots of Port of Coms do not install. The installation wizard displays the message "driver did not install correctly, Access is denied."

Modem providers cannot explain failure given that the modems will work on my desktop machine (vista) without any questions just plug-and-play so to speak.

    I tried-

    (1) disable all anitvirus programs and firewalls.
    (2) deactivation or deletion of all other modems and internet connections
    (3) update BIOS
    (4) restart completed after all the above steps
    (5) verified all the drivers are the latest and the greatest part up to date.

Returning the status 'out of box' re-loading of windows is not an option I've run a number of programs on my machine that are no longer available in the format that I use in my business. A suggestion was made by a tech Windows registry values are incorrect and are blocking the installation?

You said, that the Wireless USB modem works on your desktop with Vista. Modems supported by Windows XP or Windows XP SP3?
I would like to do a downgrade to SP2.

In addition, I think that the best way would be a reinstall of Windows. If it s not an option, try it on another HARD drive in the laptop.
You don't, so no risk of losing your data.

  • Satellite L300 - USB modem now reported as unavailable

I have a laptop Satellite L300, of Vista / Factory - I use a USB Modem to connect to the internet (this usb modem worked perfectly on the laptop until recently and still works perfectly on my PC - so not defective)

I now receive messages (all 3 usb ports) that State the: the modem we unavailable

Other usb devices IE mouse, keydrive etc seem to be fine

I uninstalled the drivers USB, rebooted, checked for hardware changes and rebooted. But still does not connect to the internet.

    Does anyone have a solution?

    Hi Debzs,

Can you try to remove the modem drivers, please? After that, restart your computer and install the latest drivers for modem manufacturing.
    Check this box!

Also if other devices are working properly, theoretically it could be a hardware failure on your modem :(

Usually a paperclip or toothpick or ball pen.

Stick it in the hole and reset for about 10 seconds until the front led flashes quickly.

The software method... Unlike the above material method... is to open airport utility and select restore default settings.

  • Satellite U500 - problem with Windows 7 and HSDPA USB modem

    Hello
My wife recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite U500, that came pre-installed with Windows 7 64-bit.

A few days later, I bought a modem high-speed HSDPA USB by Alcatel. The problem started immediately that we plugged the modem, that drivers would not install.
Then I went to the Web of Alcatel site and found the drivers for windows 7 for her. But then we hit another road block since now the drivers are installed and it does not detect the modem, but whenever we try to connect to the internet, screen flickers at the connection for a moment and then disconnects again.

I found cela a lil strange so I tried to connect using my own pc which has a 32-bit Windows 7 and it works fine there.
It is the same for a machine that still had Windows XP. Makes me think its something to do with 64-bit Windows 7 itself. Could someone help please?

    Thank you and best regards.

I don't think that someone here can help you with this problem. You will be very happy if someone on this forum has exactly the same model of laptop including same USB modem.

In my opinion, you have two options: either you can clarify this point with the support of Alcatel (they have enough experience with own products) or with people from the nearest Toshiba service provider service.

Have you tried to test the features with the Win7 32-bit version?

  • Satellite L505-112 - 31 error code in device USB modem Manager

I have a USB stick modem: Huawei e172. I downloaded the latest drivers for Windows 7 64 bit. I have a Nokia n95 with firmaware update to version 30 and the latest drivers...

Is causing me this problem in Windows 7:
This device does not work properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

To start I have the problem with the huawei e172. After the update of the Nokia n95, I have the same problem with this phone.

Excuse me for my English but I'm from the Italy.
Technical support Microsoft tell me that the problem is on the Toshiba Windows 7. In fact, if I try the modem usb stick on another pc with Windows 7 64 bit it works fine.

    Hello

It's really hard to say what causes this problem on your laptop. Do you use the same drivers on the other PC?

Are you running the factory settings or you have installed your own version?

In your case, I'll try to update the chipset drivers on and BIOS. The two you can find on the Toshiba site.

Alternative you should contact the manufacture of your USB modem. Maybe they can tell you more

  • Windows 7 x 64"looking for preconfigured folders' 10-20 minutes after the base peripheral USB pluging

    As in the question.

Windows 7 x 64 'preconfigured search folders' for 10-20 minutes after pluging base peripheral USB - flash stick, mouse, keyboard.
The installation of the drivers is displayed.
The small circles looking for minutes and minutes.
Then the message becomes - installation of the unit
It lasts still minutes (5 to 10 or more)
At the end some time, that the device is installed sometimes it fails.
If I unplug the unit and plug it into another USB port - all again.
During the whole process, the computer becomes very slow and unusable.
The Task Manager shows CPU idle but there is no update on the user interface, new programs may not start.
When the end of the installation then it catches up and everything opens and update with a normal speed.

I have the same problem as Windows 7 Ultimate SP1.

If a driver online is available for a USB device, it installs ok.

If the system is based on the preconfigured drivers folder it will not install.

I've removed all USB devices (including root hubs), reset and rebuilt the cache driver and nothing works.

Rebuilding my PC will take ages! There must be a faster solution!

    I found the solution!

You need to repair or rebuild Windows DriverStore. (which would make a reinstallation)

You need access to a working Windows machine to solve this problem, but your PC will fix the driverstore himself.

    To do this:

    1) go to "C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository" from a working PC that is copied to a USB drive or a network share.

    (2) on your PC goto Device Manager and find the device that settles (look for the yellow triangle).

    (3) right click and select "Update Driver Software".

    (4) select "Browse my computer for driver software".

    5) navigate to the location of your good copy of the DriverStore

    (6) "Include subfolders" check and click Next

Windows will now search the driver good store and will be re - install the pre-configured drivers.

Ignore any warnings about the driver being unsigned and let your PC to install them.

Work pilots will be given on your pc, the driver cache will rebuild and your device will start working.

    Hooray!

If you move the device to another USB port it will now install automatically, as it should.
