Satellite L300 - USB modem now reported as unavailable

I have a laptop Satellite L300, of Vista / Factory - I use a USB Modem to connect to the internet (this usb modem worked perfectly on the laptop until recently and still works perfectly on my PC - so not defective)

I now receive messages (all 3 usb ports) that State the: the modem we unavailable

Other usb devices IE mouse, keydrive etc seem to be fine

I uninstalled the drivers USB, rebooted, checked for hardware changes and rebooted. But still does not connect to the internet.

Does anyone have a solution?

Hi Debzs,

Can you try to remove the modem drivers, please? After that, restart your computer and install the latest drivers for modem manufacturing.
Check this box!

Also if other devices are working properly, theoretically it could be a hardware failure on your modem :(

I have tried everything that he continues giving error that says: 'Cant find device', but I managed to download the drivers.

His request now AUTHENTICATION NUMBER that I don't know

    Hello

Please do not be angry on me, but I don't quite understand you. You try to install some third party external device and you ask computer laptop manufacturer how to proceed.
For me, it makes sense to go the other way, the same question should be present at the manufacturer of the modem.

They have good experiences with own products and offer support for different operating systems.

So before you wait here, contact the modem manufacturer and ask for help.

I guess that you have activated the Device Manager and there is no yellow exclamation point isn't good?
    Figure modem in the list?
    It should be!

How have you tried to configure the dial-up access?
    You should do this;
Go to the category modems Options - Control Panel - hardware and sound - and.
In the local info window, select an area code; for example, 0.
Then click the Modems tab, click Add.
If a User Account Control warning window appears, click on continue, and then click Next.
Now Windows Vista should attempt to detect the modem.
When the modem installation is complete, click Finish.

Then the new modem installed should appear. Click OK to close the Options of Modem and telephony.
Now, your modem is installed correctly, and you must now create a modem connection.

  • Satellite U500 - problem with Windows 7 and HSDPA USB modem

    Hello
My wife recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite U500, that came pre-installed with Windows 7 64-bit.

A few days later, I bought a modem high-speed HSDPA USB by Alcatel. The problem started immediately that we plugged the modem, that drivers would not install.
Then I went to the Web of Alcatel site and found the drivers for windows 7 for her. But then we hit another road block since now the drivers are installed and it does not detect the modem, but whenever we try to connect to the internet, screen flickers at the connection for a moment and then disconnects again.

I found cela a lil strange so I tried to connect using my own pc which has a 32-bit Windows 7 and it works fine there.
It is the same for a machine that still had Windows XP. Makes me think its something to do with 64-bit Windows 7 itself. Could someone help please?

    Thank you and best regards.

I don't think that someone here can help you with this problem. You will be very happy if someone on this forum has exactly the same model of laptop including same USB modem.

In my opinion, you have two options: either you can clarify this point with the support of Alcatel (they have enough experience with own products) or with people from the nearest Toshiba service provider service.

Have you tried to test the features with the Win7 32-bit version?

  • Satellite L300 14 c: drivers XP for display & high speed Modem

    Hello!

    I have loaded Windows XP - SP2 on Satellite L300 14 C model PSLB0E-02T01XGR.

Almost all drivers are in & work fine except the following:

    1. impossible to locate the display driver. Display resolution limited to 1024 x 768. Try to load the driver for the Intel 965 Chipset for Vista, but rejected by XP!

    2. 'FN' key does not not for BRIGHTNESS control. Display at FULL INTENSITY. Not tried other combinations. But the FN + F5 works to control internal/external switch.

3 driver for HD Audio Bus MODEM device could not be located. Can tell me what kind of MODEM is it & how do I use it?

    4. in the installation of XP, I have chanaged the disk HARD to "Compatibility" SATA controller mode Now is it advisable to go back to the 'AHCI '? XP starts after that?

Please, help me at least a 2-point first, I'm desperate! Concerned with life LCD & my sight! ......

    Hello

It's good that nearly all drivers are working.

Here´s tips for drivers and the remaining machines:

    1. go to www.intel.com and download the graphics from there driver. Search for the 965 chipset, and you will find...

    2. What do you have installed? Toshiba tools? I wonder that you have even the function Fn + F5, I mean, do you have installed the Vista drivers?

    3. the modem device is Conexant, so you should check google for Conexant modem drivers. If Don t you know what a modem is then see [LINK: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modem]
4 it s NOT recommended because if you set it to AHCI mode your OS windows is unbootable because you installed your operating system in compatibility mode, which means:
the BIOS emulates a port IDE and SATA - HARD disk does not natively work in AHCI mode: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AHCI

    That's all...

    Welcome them

  • Satellite L300 wireless works do not with my particular brand of modem

Hello, I really need help here.

My laptop is Toshiba Satellite L300, and I got it since April. I can't connect wireless via the modem I have here at home (netgear DGN2000).
I can connect to other modems however. I've updated my wireless with Atheros card, but its still does not.
If anyone has any suggestions please please please help!

    Thank you

If you can connect to other routers on that it is proof that your laptop WLAN module works properly.
In my opinion you cannot connect to your one because of wrong settings on your router.

Your laptop detects your router? Your router is visible for Satellite L300?

  • Satellite M110: The USB Modem broadband wireless fails to install

    Hi all

    I have a satellite M110 machine under XP SP3.

I've tried two different brands of wireless USB modems. The two installation the corectly modem drivers and Device Manager shows this. However, pilots of Port of Coms do not install. The installation wizard displays the message "driver did not install correctly, Access is denied."

Modem providers cannot explain failure given that the modems will work on my desktop machine (vista) without any questions just plug-and-play so to speak.

    I tried-

    (1) disable all anitvirus programs and firewalls.
    (2) deactivation or deletion of all other modems and internet connections
    (3) update BIOS
    (4) restart completed after all the above steps
    (5) verified all the drivers are the latest and the greatest part up to date.

Returning the status 'out of box' re-loading of windows is not an option I've run a number of programs on my machine that are no longer available in the format that I use in my business. A suggestion was made by a tech Windows registry values are incorrect and are blocking the installation?

You said, that the Wireless USB modem works on your desktop with Vista. Modems supported by Windows XP or Windows XP SP3?
I would like to do a downgrade to SP2.

In addition, I think that the best way would be a reinstall of Windows. If it s not an option, try it on another HARD drive in the laptop.
You don't, so no risk of losing your data.

  • Satellite L300 - up but screen now empty + no hard disk activity

I was just restoring a laptop Satellite L300-1DN for someone who has 2 main issues.

    (1) it was dirty on the inside
    (2) he asked instantly when starting, the password for the BIOS that is unknown and the "Toshiba" standard does not work, so I think that BIOS should be reset.

I have it disassembled and cleaned everything and it back up to new back to how it was. But when I now turn on although power and battery lights up and the fan is running, there is no display there is no activity from the drive hard or its lights.

Any thoughts on the cause of this?

    Thank you

    What say about it?
General laptop disassembly is permitted for staff only and this should be done following an exact description in the document of maintenance manuals.
You did it on your own, knowing he can be risky and ends with a few hardware malfunction, especially if you try to reset the BIOS.

What you can do now is to reopen and checking all the connections again. What else can you do?
I can't say for sure, but somehow I think the BIOS is screwed.

To be honest, some password BIOS Toshiba standard is unclear to me and I've never heard that there are something like that. Reset the BIOS? How did you do that? As far as I know, this method is different for the different laptop models.

  • Satellite L300 - peripheral USB need drivers that does not exist

Satellite L300 race Win Vista 32 bit, connection of new devices (for example the card reader USB Signalex), I ask for a device driver that does not exist on the computer or on the Web and should not be necessary.

How to do this? My previous laptop under Vista did not ask this.

    Hi Greenman,

Have you tried other USB devices such as a USB or disk external DRIVE with USB interface? Normally you n t need additional drivers for most USB devices except printers for example.

More I recommend removing all the USB ports on the Device Manager and then restart the laptop.

    Hello

I assume that you have installed the modem driver. Is this good?
On the European driver Toshiba page I can find 3 different modem drivers; Conexant, Toshiba and Motorola modem driver.
Check if you used the right method.

Also I recommend that you install the MS patches: KB835221 and KB888111
