Re: Satellite A200 - cannot burn DVDs

I had a Toshiba Satellite A200 for several years and have never had a DVD burning problem before.

About a week ago when I tried to burn a DVD with Nero, he went through the motions and was told everything had been done successfully, but when I went to read the DVD, the computer told me that it was a blank disc.
I tried to use different programs to burn on DVD, with the same result every time. My DVD drive is a TSST corp CDDVDW TS - L632H ATA Device. He can still play the DVD already made and play, then I start to think that the party "burnery" (I'm fine with the techno jargon) has made his dash.

Does this mean I need to replace the drive?
All the answers you guys could give would be greatly appreciated, it has become a bit frustrating.
See you soon

First try to remove upper and lower filters: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?id=314060

Second, make sure that there is no dust on the lens, use a Microfiber cloth to gently wipe the optical lens.

Third, look for a firmware updated the L632H drivers Toshiba Web site.

  • Satellite L20: Cannot burn DVDs - power calibration error

    Hello

I have problems when you try to burn the DVD on my Toshiba Satellite L20. Nero indicates a "power calibration error". Lens and drive have been cleaned up, but it did not help. Supprisingly, DVR +/-RW and CD are treated correctly. DVD player of any sort is also OK. Only burning DVDs (+/-), regardless of their manufacturer, fails.

The next step, I wanted to put a fresh firmware in the drive which is Mat * a UJ - 841 S. I found the firmware on another site of PC companies. But the installer stops with the message that it does not apply to my reader however it was designed exactly for this kind of car.

On the website of Panasonic, manufacturer of the drive, there is the information that support for this model is provided by the hardware vendor - in this case, it is Toshiba. But there is no firmware for this drive on Toshiba support pages.

    Can anyone help me, please.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Piotr

First of all, note that after the installation of non-Toshiba firmware yourself, will lose it warranty for the reader. In any case, on a forum I found an interesting solution. You can try:

    1) click Start
    (2) select control panel
    3) click on Administrative Tools
    4) click on services
    (5) go your way down to SERVICE of the COM of ENGRAVING of IMAPI CD
    (6) right-click (on IMAPI), and then select Properties
    (7) in the middle of the window, it will say start type. Click the arrow on the right and select disabled.
    8) click APPLY

I also noticed that Nero starts much more quickly than before. I recommend you test different blank media.

  • My Satellite A100 cannot burn DVDs

I have a rug * a DVD-RAM UJ - 841S who is really fighting with burning discs. Although the system recognizes the drive Ok when I go in WinDVD creator or Roxio there is no disk selected and no to select. It seems that none of my burning software does not recognize the drive. Any ideas?

    Hello

What to say! Pre-installed images are tested and if your device has a factory settings, it should work fine. If I remember correctly, the set comes with the NOW called RECORDING of SONIC burning software. I hope you have tested before use of Roxio.

Try to remove all the burning software, install Nero and test it properly. Sonic and Roxio maybe some conflicts and engraving option is not available.

  • Satellite A300 - cannot burn DVDs dual layer

Hi, I bought my laptop 10 months ago.

Since then I ve been burning a disc or two every now and then, no intense use of the driver.

Last week I tried to burn a DVD double layer, my driver seems not to be able to burn a. I used BurnXP free burning software that supports double layer and when he finished the first layer of the program collapsed in response, I have tried 2-3 disk, none worked.
Then I tried the latest version of Nero, everything seemed smooth (it burned down two layers) up until the finished burning process and then I got an error message that the procedure has failed.

I have tried different brands of disc 'TDK' 'Philips' "In extenso" or something. None worked.
I tried a Philips disc on my desktop drive and it it burned very well.
-Should I head to Toshiba service?
-Are there a driver/firmware to fix my problem?

PS: I tried to update firmware but can't find a firmware for my drive.
I have the ' matsita DVD-RAM uj-850 s and I used the right type of DVD discs--
    Type in advance.

    > So I tried the latest version of Nero, everything seemed smooth (it burned down two layers) up until the finished burning process and then I got an error message that the procedure has failed.
You have received this message, but have you checked the DVD DL after that?
Perhaps the data has been burned correctly?

I got a lot of time, the message that the burning procedure was not successful, but I then tested the disc and it was legible.

AFAIK that should the user manual contains also some info on drive tested and compatible.
Maybe you should use the DVD DL recommended in this user's manual.

But of course this could be also a material IRREGULAR deadlines.
In this case, you must request the ASP for the test and check!

    CONCERNING

    Hello

Stack Bluetooth can be downloaded from the Toshiba BT Portal:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/Bluetooth/

WMP or the Real player can't handle the DVD because you need a codec package that contains the codec MPEG-2 and MPEG-4.

    Check this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=37754&TSTART=0

You can use the package: K - Lite Codec Pack Full

You can also read the DVDs with VLC Player.

all PROMTLY ANSWER would BE MUCH APPRECIATED.

    It doesn't sound good.
I had a similar problem of combustion and the end of the story, I replaced the drive ;(
However, try to remove the drive from Device Manager, and then again to restart the operating system should recognize the device again.
Then you could check if it able to burn the DVD s s.
I think you should also try burning different DVD media.

I have visited many work sites and the reader, and especially the calibration lens malfunction could be responsible for burning problems.
This could be a worst case and in this case, the replacement is necessary.

  • Satellite A200-AH5 CD/DVD drive does not burn any CD

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite (A200 AH3) under Windows Vista Home Premium.
    For what it's worth, there's a T2085 @ 1.73 GHz processor. It is a 32-bit operating system.
In the Device Manager when I click on the CD/DVD-Rom drives, I get CD/DVGW TSSTcorp TS-L632D ATA Device.
By clicking on this that I find that the driver is working correctly and up-to-date. I was not able to burn a CD on this system...

I have not tried to burn a DVD.
I ran through all the steps to burn a CD, however, but even if he goes through the process to show the progress that each song to a playlist is burned to disc, when the disc is supposed to be finalized... nothing on the disc when I try to read, and with the exception of iTunes or another program open when I place the CD in the drive to be played absolutely nothing happens.
I tried to burn music on a CD on the desktop of my sister, and it burned fine.

Then... It is not a problem with the discs.
When I took the disc to my sister had burned and placed in the disk drive on my laptop, it displays the tracks that had been burned and he played the music very well. This really threw me a loop for.
The laptop is only a year old and I can not burn anything.

Unfortunately, the warranty has expired. I am desperate to get this problem fixed. I don't know if he's going to burn a DVD, but I ruined 2 boxes of CD - R discs already. After disk supposedly burned music... even if no music has been burned... the disc is ruined and must be discarded.

I'm not terribly knowledgeable about aspects of warming of the computers, so I hope you can tell me in general terminology if you answer to my problem. I really hope someone out there can advise me as to what is happening or what I should do to fix the problem.

Thanks for any help in advance!

    Thank you.

    Hello

In your case, I recommend trying the different CD s from different manufacturers.
You should know that not all CD or DVD would be fully compatible with your internal CD/DVD drive.
In many cases no compatible CD or DVD would lead to exactly the same problems that you described in your post so trying different media!

In addition, I recommend checking the Toshiba driver for a CD/DVD drive update page s firmware.
As I m not wrong not the Satellite A200-AH3 belongs to the Canadian series and you should check the Canadian page for a new firmware. Maybe a new firmware is available

Last but not least, you can switch to other burning software I m using Nero I think it s the best applications for such purposes

  • Cannot burn DVD-R with my Satellite P100-342

I bought a Satellite P100-342 two years ago. Some time after I tried to burn DVD + R and it was impossible, so I sent it to Toshiba. A few weeks later, when they returned to my laptop I saw that I can burn DVD + R, but it was not possible to burn a DVD-R.

I tried with many manufacturers of DVD - R, but no one works.

I checked my DVD multi recorder (HL-DT-ST-DVD RAM GMA-408N) with Nero Info Tools and it checks ON items: DVD + R and DVD-R. It shows that system ASPI are not installed and I don't know if that's the problem.

    My OS is Windows MCE.

    Will you help me, please?

    Hello

Have you tried to delete upper and lower filters in the registry of the Windows operating system?
    Isn't it? Try this:
Completely remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Also I would not recommend trying the other and different discs (CD and DVD) from different manufacturers.
But of course it could also be a hardware problem. I mean the discs of the laser lens has stopped working properly due to mechanical stress.

  • Satellite M40: Power calibration error - drive cannot burn DVD - RW more

My drive is a carpet * an oem UJ - 831S. After a screw-up partitioning job, I had to format my HD and reinstall Windows XP... and then I can not burn DVD - RW more.

Tried many programs such as Nero and a fireman, gives an error of calibration of power from the beginning.
Burning CD - r and CD - RW no problem however, and I can read CDs and DVDs of movies very well.

Google and searched for a month without success, tried to blow the laser lens, but there is no dust, I tried different media, etc. I know the best answer is that the drive is done, BUT I refuse to acknowledge it because it is too big of a coincedence to stop working right after that I reinstalled XP.

An interesting note however, my laptop has not been provided with a CD of Toshiba, so I had to reinstall manually more drivers by downloading the Toshiba site, so I have a funny feeling, this could be a thing of the software/firmware, or even a framework.

I installed the new firmware 1.02 for the reader as well. I don't remember what the firmware was before resettlement, IE the laptop computer settings to factory default, I'd like to downgrade to 1.00 if possible.

Experts have ideas? And is there a way I can reset the firmware?

Maybe I could remove the drive from the system-> devices and let XP Reinstall for me?

    Hello

    > I don't know the best answer is that the drive is done, BUT I refuse to acknowledge it because it is too big of a coincidence to stop working right after that I reinstalled XP.

Of course, it s simply to say the drive is dead because everything looks like a hardware malfunction. Most often the power calibration error appears because of the drive lens can't calibrate in the right position and thus cannot read some CD or DVD s s or it of not possible to write about them.

But maybe you are a lucky man and might try this procedure:
-Try to remove the drive physically from the Bay for laptop
-Restart the unit without the drive
-In this case the operating system should start from the HARD drive
-Close the notebook then reinsert the drive unit in the Bay of s for laptop
During initialization, the laptop should recognize the drive and must pick up the firmware

Then you can check if you can burn the DVD again, otherwise you will need a new drive
