Re: Satellite Pro A200 - RAM upgrade

Hi all

Don't worry I'm not here to ask questions on only 3 GB of RAM display in a 32-bit Windows system! : PEI

I'm wanting to upgrade the RAM on my A200 and what I was wondering was what can I put with 667 MHz RAM? I know that the FSB of the CPU is 800 MHz so can not use RAM 800 MHz? I had a quick glance in the BIOS to see if there was an option to change the speed or on my desktop, but I couldn't find anything. If the speed of the RAM is locked and if yes is there a update of the available BIOS that will allow it to be changed?

I hope this isn't a stupid question but thanks in advance!

Daniel

RAM with MHz more won't make your laptop faster. I'm not 100% sure but on the motherboard FSB speed is 533 MHz and Rams, you inside are at 667 MHz.

If you can increase the RAM to 4 GB using 2 GB of RAM compatible with the PA3513U-1M2G part number.

Good bye

    Thank you very much

    Hello

The 4360 Pro Satellite came with 64 MB internal memory and this memory in not removable.
As you have already said, there is only a slot that is expandable.

In any case... it seems that it of not possible to upgrade memory up to 512 MB.
You can upgrade the memory to 320 MB (64 MB internal memory + 256 MB external memory). There is a limit.

I found a very useful page that confirms this info:

I have an old Satellite Pro 6000 that has 256 MB of RAM in it, and accordingly, as he tries harder sound, it is not the fastest machines.

I want to increase the RAM to 1 GB, which I believe is the maximum and 2 sticks of memory of 512 MB PC133 CL3 3.3V, which I think should work fine.

However, I tried to install either as a pair or separately, with the 256 MB of RAM, and when I put the memory in, the PC resolutely refuses to start. The lights of power lights, but it is only it works.

I put the original 256 MB of RAM in the slot, and it works fine.

I'm something wrong or missing something?

    Any help appreciated gratefully.

    Hello

    > Am I something wrong or missing something?
Of course, you use the memory bad or is not compatible!

Initialization not after an upgrade of memory is a common behavior if the modules are not compatible or do not work.

You can upgrade the memory to 1024 MB (2x512MB) max and page Toshiba should run these modules:
    PC133 512 MB (PA3108U - 1 M 51)
    PC133 256 MB (PA3086U - 1 M 25)
    PC133 128 MB (PA3085U - 1 M 12)

I want to improve my Toshiba Satellite pro 4340 to 320 MB of ram.
The computer came with 64 internal RAM and I bought 2 x 128 MB of ram.

My problem is that the second (B) ram slot does not detect the new ram.
2 x 128 MB of ram were tested both in the ram slot (A) and work.
I thought that a bios upgrade would solve the problem, but it didn't.

    PA3004U - 1 M 06 64 MB MEMORY KIT
    PA3005U - 1 M 12 128 MB KIT MEMORY

    Hello

If you want to increase the RAM to 1 GB then you need another 512 MB module.
As I know the laptop support modules DDR2 PC2-5300 RAM and generally the 512 MB PC2 - 5300 DDR2 RAM (PA3511U1M51) must be compatible.

Here you can find videos how to replace the RAM.
I didn t find your Satellite A120, but the upgrade of RAM is very similar to all laptops.

That made her really strange guy is that if a module of memory is not compatible or not supported then the laptop wouldn't boot.

But listen buddy; nothing is impossible. Perhaps the two modules cannot run together and that's why this issue happens?  :|

Usually it s recommended and recommended using two memory modules.
In this case, you can be sure that the two s of RAM would run together without problem to 100%!

    Hello!

I am writing again to my RAM problem.
I know that my phone can cope with 500 MB of ram.

So I bought more to upgrade 256. But only a module of memory is recognized.
Both work well: when an another reversal of slot a slot two, there is always a recognized...

I must add this: when I have added first 256 MB for the original 128 MB module, everything worked ok, (I got about 300 MB of ram)
I really wonder: is the slot 2 dead? How can I know if you think that is another problem, you have advice...? I am a bit lost...

    See you soon!
    Sylvain

You are right. You can upgrade the RAM to 512MG max.
In housing, you could inert max 254MB modules of memory SODIMM 144 pin PC133.

Perhaps one slot is faulty and you should check this.
Simply use a single module and check the two slots one after the other.

If the module will be recognized in the two slots this means that the two slots are okay.
These cases, it is possible of s that the two modules may not work together make for the compatibility issue.

    Hey Buddy

For several years he s already known that the Windows 32 bit doesn t recognize all of the 4 GB due to the limitation of the 32 bit OS.
I think you should visit the Microsoft good, old for details ;)

  • Satellite Pro A200 - shows only 3 GB instead of 4 GB of RAM

    Hello

2 years ago I had a Satellite Pro A200 as a professional laptop and it works with XP SP2, later with SP3. With 2 GB, it shows 2 GB memory in Windows - and I know it's a Radeon 7500 with 256 MB memory graphics individual, and there is no shared memory.

I upgraded to 4 GB, but Windows shows exactly 3 GB. BIOS shows 4 GB and ATI system monitor shows 4 GB. I know that 4 GB is not possible under XP 32-bit, only on Windows 2003 R2 32 bit or Vista - but on desktop systems, I've seen values between 3.3 and 3.7 GB.

So, where's the memory? It looks like a bug - the chips of memory have two 2 GB I checked this. Because it's a company laptop I can not just switch to 64-bit XP :-(

There's no option in the BIOS - first I thought that it is the graphics card, but mine has independent graphics with own memory so that the computer comes up with MB 2048 or 4096 after the upgrade.

Shared memory would show about 1900 MB of RAM for the operating system as my private EEEpc.

    Hi shadowmaster_1,

    > I know that 4 GB is not possible under XP 32 bit
Then why do you ask this question here if you already know? Moreover, it s not a limitation in XP, it s a material limitation on all 32-bit systems

    > only on Windows 2003 R2 32 bit or Vista
And who says that Windows 2003 or Vista can use 4 GB? Okay, there's an update for Vista where 4 GB correct displayed in system properties, but that doesn't make no difference. Vista 32 bit peut t use all of 4GB, it s only cosmetic improvements! ;)

    > So where is memory?
Memory is installed on your computer, but can t be used complelty with a 32 bit OS.

At the end of the story: If you want to use 4 GB, you need to install a 64 bit OS. On all the 32 bit OS, you can use only upward to ~3.2GB RAM!

  • Satellite Pro A200 - new RAM work together

    Laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro A200-PSAF1A-003002, I bought the year last with RAM 2x512MB that I try to update my 3 GB RAM and I bought 2 RAM KTT667D2 / 1 G & KTT667D2 / 2G Kingston memory.

I added that the 2 strips of RAM in the laptop, but it does not start. The power and the drive lights and flash for 3 times everything off. No boot. But I remove one of the sticks of RAM and it starts very well and the RAM has been upgraded in the system.

I tried with the sticks and the two slots to remove 'bad slot' ideas and a stick of RAM works in a thin slot. Paste works in slot 1 or slot 2 and stick b works in slot 1 or 2, but not both at the same time. Is it simply a setting I'm missing somewhere? I checked the BIOS version is 1.7, I need to update my BIOS? Help, please

    Thank you
    Yana

I think that the modules are not compatible together and that is the reason why each module works in each slot.

Did you buy KTT667D2/1 and KTT667D2 / 2G. Different modules of s and are not working together.
You should buy only the modules with the same specifications and capacity (for example, 2x1GB and 2x2gb).

  • Satellite Pro A200-16N: can I use the recovery CD after upgrade to Vista

    HII!

IM thinking of upgrading to windows vista on my Satellite Pro A200-16N and I ran the pre-upgrade of windows vista from microsoft website and it says that my system will be in charge of windows vista so im ok about it.

The problem is that if my laptop was to break or something like that at some point, will my recovery CD provided by toshiba to work always on the laptop with windows vista?
They will return the laptop for windows xp or from my laptop has another operating system they will not work?

    Also...
    What's the deal with BIOS? : S
    I don't understand!
If I were to upgrade to windows vista should I upgrade my BIOS before or after the upgrade to vista?
As I download the new drivers before upgrading Yes?

    Thank you!

The restore CD will of course work.
The recovery CD will always set the laptop back to the factory settings. This means that the whole HARD drive will be formatted and the image of Toshiba will be installed.

    > What's the deal with BIOS? I put t understand!
    > If I were to upgrade to windows vista should I upgrade my BIOS before or after the upgrade to vista?
To my knowledge, that this laptop was already shipped with Vista, so you need not update the BIOS if you want to reinstall Vista.

Some series Satellite A200 needs a BIOS update if you want to use the XP.
In such cases, it s advisable to upgrade the BIOS to version XP first, then install OS X.

Yes. Your portable computer is DDR2 RAM module. I don't know about you but I think you can improve it up to 4 GB. You can for example use a 2 GB RAM and level to 2.5 GB.
Compatible RAM 2 GB module is with the PA3513U-1M2G part number.
