  This problem may be due to Norton or other software. You can restart the computer and check. If all goes well, you should be able to boot to the desktop without any problem.
  The error message in the event viewer can point to the program which caused this problem.

  You can first go into the Task Manager - by an "Alt + Ctrl + delete" and select "Start Task Manager" and check what tasks/process is running which prevents closing.

• Stop Vista event ID 6008 for the Sims 2

  I got Vista 64 Home Premium since 10/2009 and no problems until June 29, 2010.  I've been running the Sims 2 since 10/2009, but from June 29, when playing the game, the computer will randomly turned off completely.  No BSOD, no warning.  I've updated my video card drivers, but that did not improve the situation.  I checked the event viewer and get the event ID 6008, "shutdown system before at (time) on (date) was not planned."  No other error messages, no BSOD.

  The computer feels hot to the touch, it's a gateway LX6810-01 running Windows Vista Home Premium 64 - bit with Service Pack 2.  I ran the Sims 2 hours at a time before (for the last few months, usually 2-4 hours a day, much more the weekend) with no problems, but now sometimes the computer stops while the game is load again, sometimes I can get some time in French - the longest so far is 3 hours.  I can't think of what's happening in the game that could cause this, especially in the loading or menu screens.

  ETA: I have not changed/downloaded/installed anything for the Sims 2 between the moment where he would not plant and the time that he began to be crush/cause the computer to stop.

  My sons laptop has been mess up since yesterday afternoon. There McAffee Antivirus, who has never been a problem, however, "Security Center Vista 2011' at random is appeared for the first time, automatically scanned the computer and reported 25 viruses. For this reason, whenever it opens Internet Explorer to surf the net, a pop-up appears telling him that he is infected.   Hi there, Ok vista security center 2011 is a virus. You need a better program Antimalware too to roll all this crapy virus!, I wrote this a month ago. You need too download malwarebyets you can find it here on this link http://www.malwarebytes.org/, download the free version, then you will see a desktop icon of this anti-malware program. You need also side click on it and run as administrator, then it will start up. Now DO a FULL system SCAN, not a quick analysis. It should take about 40mins or so. Now, you will see at least 4 bad Trojan and a virus. Now delete 'em, then after restart PC... Do the same thing again. After the scan is complete, and no virus found... System Restore to a point over 5 days. When we know that when the computer was working no probs then you done everything;), Post back on here to see how you are thereby. Thanks Dion.

  This happens usually if Windows Vista time settings are incorrect. In the time settings, the 'h' refers to 12 hours, format and 'H' refers to 24-hour format.
   
  To change the time in 24-hour format, try the following steps.
  1. open the Date and time by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, click clock, language, and region, and then clicking the change date, time, or number format.
  2. in the regional and Language Options window, click the Formats tab, and then click Customize this format.
  3 click the time tab and change the format of the time according to your requirement.
  4 restart the computer.

• PC (Vista) stops at the start even in the trunk or the repair mode.

  On his return from a trip, I rebooted my computer. Loaded Windows. After a few minutes, it will turn off by itself. I rebooted and you stop again just after the end of the loading of Windows. I decided to do a system restore and it was a success and rebooted fine. After remaining on during a few hours, stop in again. I started in safe mode and was able to check the startup items. I disabled some elements for application and restarted again. Computer remained down for a while and then stop again. I get always the blue screen and the green bars.

  That's where is seems odd. On startup, I get options to restart in safe mode. I select it and the PC stops on start up. On reboot, I get the options again and this repair to choose the moment. It starts the process and then asks if I want to restore to a previous restore point. I select Yes. It begins to go through the process, but then stops. So now, I can't start at all.

  Time for the PC to close seems to have understood more short and stopped at various points in attempts to boot to the point where it won't start now.

  On the boot CD, I chose to start windows normally. I get to the password screen and it stops. Upon reboot, I select the repair disk and it also closed.

  This sounds like a software problem or system over? Any suggestions on this diagnosis?

  It is a hardware problem, so all the tinkering with the restoration of the system, startup items, etc. was incorrect. Your computer could be overheating and/or other hardware components could fail. You can troubleshoot the equipment yourself or bring it to a local reputable professional. Do not use a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad of the place.

• Can I put molten automotive leave after my Vista guest operating system stop?

  I use a single operating system to prompt with my Fusion facility.  Is Windows Vista.  Usually, I use the Vista environment a few minutes each day to run Quicken.  So I don't want to have Fusion it running all day or anything like that.  Ideally, I would like to be able to launch the VM in Vista, do my job to Quicken for a few minutes and then stop Vista and then it automatically also have stop and exit merger entirely.  By default, the virtual machine stops and let me melt which I must then also release the mouse or keystrokes.  Is there a toggle to implement the merger while it automatically closes after the last VM running is stop or something like that?

  A quick way to stop the virtual machine and exit the merger is:

  Go to the VMware Fusion menu-> preferences... Select when a virtual machine is closed: power off the virtual machine.

  Then, when you want to close the virtual machine and quit the merger, just command + Q or VMware Fusion-> quit VMware Fusion.

  Your virtual computer will stop and Fusion will automatically exit.

  Try this first before reinstalling.

  If it fails, see below, data recovery before reinstalling.

  Restore point:

  Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

  Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

  Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

  As is the case with most computers/laptops these days, they do not come with good Vista disc to repair only the recovery disks.

  As your grave in the category above, download the ISO on the provided link and do a repair of the disc.

  Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

  At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

  When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

  You can make a tool to restart system, System Restore, etc. with it.

  It's a very good Vista repair disc.

  You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.

  There is not a disk of resettlement.

  And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.

  Data recovery:

  1. slave of your hard drive in another computer and read/save your data out there.

  2. put your Hard drive in a USB hard drive case, plug it into another computer and read/save from there.

  Download the Vista software from the link above.

  After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.

  Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.

  Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1 in the boot order.

  Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

  When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

  Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

  Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

  Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.
