Recovery (F11) does not

Looking to reinstall Vista on my IdeaPad Y530 and pressing F11 when restarting has no effect.

Background:

(1) I had installed ubuntu in dual boot, whose reading other posts can interfere with recovery

(2) the product code for windows vista on the bottom of the laptop is not visible at all, because of the heat simply from one day to use. So not able to reinstall vista from scratch.

What can I do else?

Thank you very much!!

I have a 625 hp laptop, it has windows 7 Professional 32-bit service pack 1.

the problem is that when I want to restore my laptop to factory settings using f11, nothing happens and continues loading to connect. I looked in the Disk Manager and the recovery partition is there but I noticed that there no letter beside him as the primary operating system drive has a letter c next to him, but recovery is not so if it is useful or not.

    Hello:

Somehow, the Recovery Manager is corrupt and the F11 does not work anymore.

If you live in the United States, you can order a set of recovery disc for it by calling 1-800-334-5144.

You will need to provide the model number and serial number.  It costs $10 for a set.

You can also do your own installation of W7 DVD.

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

  • Satellite A30 - 203 - recovery disk does not work

    Hi all

I have an old Satellite A30-203 and have a problem. I tried to format my laptop but the product recovery cd does not seem to work in deletion the data on my disk, its becomes blocked during loading files of ntfs? Now I am not able to retrieve a windows session would I need a new product recovery cd and would be able to get it?

    Thank you

    Hi dimation,

It is difficult to say what is the reason of this but made is either it s a laptop problem itself or the recovery disc (e.g. scratches) causes this problem.

In my opinion the best way to check this using a Microsoft Windows disk. If the installation completed successfully, you need a new recovery disk. As a result, you can ask a service provider authorized in your country! :)

  • Recovery CD does not completely load.

I just replaced the hard drive and the recovery CD does not completely load. After having ejected the second CD, the file loading process stops at 12%. There is no error message and I welcomed as much as 5 hours for the load file to complete, but it remains at 12% after the first 30 minutes. HP Pavilion dv7-4165dx, Windows 7

Well - here I answer to my own problem in case someone else has the same problem.  The second disk files recovery finally finished loading after 20 hours of waiting!  I spoke to two different technicians to support HP on the phone and neither one of them told me that it could take a long time to load the files!  One of them had me arrested and again after about 40 minutes of waiting.  I found it totally by accident after having frustrated and leaving it just stay there all night. Amazing!  The rest of the restore procedure went well after that - I think.  I'm always load all other software, files and updates, 2 days later.  The hard drive on this dog only lasted a year.

    Help, please!

    Hello

Assuming that it's just a problem with the recovery media, here's another solution, you can try.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create an installation disk yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( this must be the version exact same origin supplied with your laptop ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

  • My recovery CD does not work and will not install my genuine copy of Windows XP.

    XP Home Edition.

I bought a computer acer laptop, which came with a pre loaded windows XP Home Edition. As I had to format the laptop for some reason, I used a pirated version of XP.  Now, I want to install the original version. I have the product key. My recovery CD does not work, because I had used the pirated version.  Pls help...

You need to start using the CD - no existing OS - and install it to clean.

It will wipe your drive first, back up your data on an external support.

  • the system recovery media does not support this computer

I have a HP G7-1365DX and the hard drive (750 GB) is a failure.  I did a recovery file on a USB key from the recovery partition and then replaced the hard drive with a 120 GB SSD.  When I tried to reinstall the USB system, I get the message "the system recovery media does not support this computer."  Is it because the hard drive was replaced by a SSD?  How to restore the system if the recovery disk does not work?

    Hello

You are right about the source of this problem - HP recovery media often has problems of restoring the operating system on a smaller disk in quality than appeared on.

There are a few options available.

    1. if the 750 GB drive is still able to operate, use your recovery media to perform a factory reset and then use software (or Windows 7 own imaging utility) for this clone of your SSD.

2 create your own recovery media to use to run the installation - it would be my personal preference.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

  • Recovery Manager does not recognize a flash drive

Well, this is my second attempt to create recovery media, initially I thought the drive was defective and returned. I would go to 8.1 but would create recovery first. Recovery creator does not recognize the cross (SanDick Cruzer 16 GB) flash drive the forums and google around and have not really found a solution. Help please? Must I resort to buying discs for this purpose? I don't see any mention of this player being Win 8 compatible.  PC is the new HP Envy 1430. THX...

I said in my initial inquiry, I can't find any compatible 'Win 8' claim for this device. The packaging claims to be compatible by the bias of Win 7, but no mention of 8. Hello! Looks like you have a couple of choices for me. Use a PNY flash. Create an image of your operating system with a third-party App or get some DVD high quality. I agree that the drive is useless for the recovery of the system. I've seen your problem before on other forums and other products. I do not have the answer.

Click Start and type Recovery in the search field. Select Recovery Manager in the list, when it becomes available.
