Red/green line on screen of laptop

So, whenever we go out, my family put my laptop under a couch to hide. This has been done several times, and this time when I pulled it out and opened it, there was a vertical green line on the screen... I lifted the laptop and thought maybe something underneath was loose, then a red line appears beside that green...

Anyone have any ideas on what is wrong? The lines are still there, for two days. I don't drop it or anything, but just maybe I put him on the ground too hard. I searched on the internet and get the results of "broken screen", "broken video card", "Reinstall video card", "some things are cowards"... no idea what to do. If anyone have experienced this, please help!

My laptop is Compaq Presario A900, is told by the way. Had for about... 2 years. Or less.

Looks like this:

and no, I didn't sit on it or drop it, ever. This is why I still don't think that the cables of the screen are screwed or the screen is broken. Other problems, perhaps? Thank you.

Hello

1TS restart to ensure that nothing works to influence the following process.

Change the resolution of your screen to a little lower - OK. Change for a bit higher than it was (all the way)
the lines change their locations or they stay in the same place? If they stay in the same place then it
There's a chance that the screen has been damaged. You can reset the resolution as desired.

Now this

Control Panel / Device Manager - graphics cards - writing down of the brand and complete model of the device.
Double-click it and write the version - now click on update drivers (this could do nothing as MS is
far behind certification pilot) - now do a RIGHT CLICK on the device and UNINSTALL - REBOOT which will refresh
the driver stack.

Then go to system Maker and get the latest drivers (or the same if not more recent ones) - download - SAVE-
go to where you put - top - right click RUN AS ADMIN - REBOOT.

I hope that your lines have disappeared.

If not try this-

Start - type in the search box - MSCONFIG will find at the top of the list right click - RUN AS ADMIN.

General tab - note what settings are there now - select Diagnostic startup - APPLY / OK - REBOOT

Are the lines still there? If this isn't the case, then you have a program or service starting up causing their.

    Hello!

Do you have this problem on an external monitor too or only on the screen internal? Maybe it s not a graphics card problem. Check it!

  • Red/green line at the beginning and at the end of the rendered video

Hi, I recently started to use the first and it's amazing, but every time I make a video; a green line which then became Red appears at the beginning of the video, and it is quite visible because I usually begins with a Fade In-Out effect. It is the same for the end of the video, but I do not understand why this is happening.

    Here's my info:

    Operating system Windows 10

    NVidia GeForce GT 720MGraphic map

    8 GB RAM

    Intel Core i5-3337U CPU @ 1.80 GHz

    Adobe Premiere Pro CS6

    Any third party Plugins installed

    Gameplay videos, H.264 codec.

The only time you won't see a coloured line is when a clip freshly abandoned in the calendar that has a codec/format supported.

    What gamefootage probably didn't.

And probably don't have material on MPE.

In your case there always will be so a line colored over your footage.

  • Satellite A300 - thin light green line on screen

    Hello Roy.

Please notify. Each switch-on, this thin line seems biased and permanent. He appeared a few days ago. Is this a failure of the chip in the graphics card?
    How can it be rectified?

Suppose a warranty issue. Look forward to a response from forum.
    Thank you.

    Hello Roy

Connect the external monitor to the laptop and check it out. If the line is still there, it must be because of the graphics chip. If this isn't the case, something's wrong with the display.

Contact the nearest Toshiba authorized service provider as soon as possible. Certainly it comes to warranty and replacement will be free.

    Good luck!

I love the computer, but I am very concerned by the machine

    Hello Richard

I found a few topics on this forum with similar theme. One of them that you can see on http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=9337&messageID=34323

Try to connect the external monitor and see if it happens again. If so there must be a problem with the graphics chip and the main Board. I don't know but I read somewhere that this is known issue and service partners have a new Board of Directors main graphics chip with more recent. This means that you will get much better graphics card but it produces more heat and the cooling fan runs very often and for longer. The second problem is that power consumption is a little higher and the battery life is not as long as before.

Sorry, but you need to talk again with service partners; Ask them about this info with the main Board and the new graphics chip. There are also guaranteed for new pieces of equipment.

    Talk with them. Good luck!

Need help screen problem.  Have a black spot, down from the top of the screen a green line.  Have a black spot at the bottom of the screen.  A photo is attached.

Can I fix it?  How can I solve this problem?

    Hi @JBBenson,

Welcome to the HP Forums! I read your post and wanted to help.

I understand that you have a black spot, down from the top of the screen a green line. You can connect an external monitor to your laptop. If the external monitor is displayed well, it may be the laptop screen broken. You can contact the store local repair, or HP support by phone for repair.

If you need to contact the HP support by phone, please the following link http://www.hp.com/contacthp allows you to create a folder for your problem and contact HP. • The HP Omni100 5155 PC: HP omni100 5155 red and green lines on the screen

I used a music cd in my pc one day and the next day I had thin green and red, vertical lines throughout the screen. I did a number of bugs, but the problem persists. I was wondering what I need to do or it sounds like a graphics card? Although I checked it and the message says: "the device is functioning properly."

    I tried the things:

    • updated drivers
    • scanned for viruses
    • cleaned the ram
    • memory diagnostic tool
    • update graphics card

Sorry, for obvious reasons, I'm not here to sell you a computer.  Most of the all-in-one computer today have the specifications you are looking for, except perhaps the webcam integrated according to the model.  You can see the HP, Amazon or Tiger Direct store as examples.

If you are looking to buy the same more or less the same model as you have now, they are abandoned or not available unless used or refurbished which I would not recommend it.

Before doing something drastic, discover the repair costs to the one you have now.

  • Toshiba Kira - screen flashes red green blue black

    Hi all

I have a Ultrabook Kira I bought last year and it worked fine until about 3 months ago.

But now he has a problem with the screen as follows.
She suddenly starts cycling continuously full-color on-screen, and then sometimes it returns to normal for some time and randomly goes back again to the annoying cycling colors.

Depending on the problem, it will loop the following exact sequence of colors: red, green, blue, black, gray.

I don't think that it is a loose cable problem because it goes into the problem and comes back without any movement of the machine.

I mean, the machine itself starts the dysfunction and restores normality by itself.
These days, I can't work without an external monitor, since the problem is now practically constant.
I've updated the bios but the problem remains.

I searched for this problem all around the internet and could see that many people, who bought this laptop model, have the same problem. Thus, it seems to be a failure of the design.

    Thank you!

    > These days, I can't work without an external monitor, since the problem is now practically constant.

For me, it would mean that the graphics card is OK and the problem must be linked to the internal display.
However, it looks like hardware problem and that's why I recommend you contact the after-sales service provider authorized to set especially if the warranty is still valid.

    Your comments would be appreciated

  • Annoying green line glisten under Compaq Cq40 LCD screen

I don't know if it's because of the new BIOS I installed that caused it that I improved F.24 F.30 version and after that all of a sudden there's this green line boring glisten under my LCD... and my temp CPU reaches now to + 60 degrees Celsius, while before upgrading my CPU temp only amounts to 32 degrees Celsius.

I already flashed the BIOS F.30 and now he's back to F.24 the temp went down, but the green line which sparkle under my LCD screen is still there... I checked the new updates to the graphics card but it says that it is up-to-date. so theBIOS has nothing to do with the flickering line after all I thought that it was caused by the high temperature. Haven't bought my laptop in Singapore in February this year no problem until this one

BTW, my laptop is a Compaq CQ40 319TU with Vista Home Premium OS license.

  • HP Omni 120-1050xt: screen goes to red, green, blue, white, black after upgrade to Windows 10

When the PC is idle, the screen turns red, green, blue, white, black, and every time I need to turn off the machine. He said "best driver for your device is already installed" - Intel HD Graphics. I tried to uninstall, install.

    Greetings,

HP not support your PC when you run Win 10.

I suggest that use the "Go Back " process win 10 ASAP.

If this is not possible because of your graphics problems you'll have to do a restore to factory HP.

I can help you more with this if you wish.

If the upgrade was forced on you there are ways to stop the involuntary update.

  • Now 23-d044 - installed MXM video card - HP Envy screen flashes red green blue black

    Hello

I'm a 23-d044 I wanted to do the update/install video card instead of using the integrated graphics card.  I tried two different cards, a nVidia GeForce GT 540 m 2 GB and a part of HP AMD card #707804-002.  In each case the applied heat sink was part HP #694456-001. In each case, whenever I go back to the PC and it works, the screen flashes red, green, blue, black, white to infinity. I have read these and other forums indicating that this is a fault with the GPU, but I find that is unlikely given that I tried two different cards. I thought that maybe the MXM connection on the motherboard, but on the original motherboard power connector was defective, I have since replaced the motherboard (about 2 weeks ago) with the same part number. I downloaded both the AMD and nVidia drivers the most recent for each card (while running the integrated graphics card), but not joy.  Anyone have any ideas?  Thanks in advance for the help!

    Sean

Sean, I had the same problem too.  I finally thought to it.  Just above where the grafics card go is two connectors and one of them has a plug in there.  above the connectors, said uma_lvds, the other says MXM_LVDS.  Swap the power cord of the uma_lvds to the mxm_lvds.  This will fix the problem and you will be running.
