  Four "beeps", could indicate a memory problem, if you are comfortable working inside the computer, try to open the case, remove and reinstall all memory modules and see if that makes a difference.

  If you not comfortable working with the removal and the reinstallation of the components, then I suggest that you take the Inspiron 530 to a repairman.

  Is the power button LED, blue constant or flashing blue?

  My X 51 died and I can't get it to work. Looking for suugestions.

  After months of random boot errors and re-formatting my HARD drive a few times it will not start upward. It starts either error that says "no found boot device" or it goes to a screen of "diagnosis" of dell alien ware which basically ends with a message saying either

  -reboot again

  -Advanced options > recovery cd, repair, ect.

  When I try to use the windows recovery CD 7 he does not see HARD drive (no HARD drive installed, that it is, I reinstalled it a few times too to make sure it was not a coward).

  -J' have a HARD drive, usb drive, and when I took out the HARD drive I can access my files NP via laptop, so I'm not confident, that's my HARD drive which * out.

  Now, before all this happened, I had to reformat my computer because it was literally so slow it would take like 5 minutes to open a folder (potential virus or something I don't know) and me random boot errors.

• Recovery disk will not start on Satellite 1110

  I try to use the recovery on a Satellite 1110 CD. I want to just install fresh Windows. The necessary files are supposed to be on the Toshiba recovery CD that accompanies it.

  So I did what the brochure says, and booted up the laptop to the top with the correct CD in the drive, while pressing 'C '. The notebook ignored the CD ROM and loaded Windows as usual. I repeated three times, each time that the CD ROM whirs a bit but will not start and Windows loads as usual. I have replaced 'C' for F12, chose the CD ROM drive in the list and repeat the process several times. Yet once it wouldn't boot from the CD-ROM.

  I looked at the content of the CD ROM A single MB 447. File of the GHS. The file icon is that generic type "Windows does not know what program this icon is intended to" deals.

  Google believes it is a ghost file and must the ghost installed to run it. This bitch never came with Ghost.

  Anyone here knows a remedy to this problem?

  (NB - I tried clean Windows system restore option, but it just brings back me to September this year. Theres no option that was more early in life for portable computers)

• Dell XPS 2710 all-in-One will not start, the totally blank screen

  Hello. This is my first post on the forums and I hope someone can help me.

  The Dell XPS 2710 all-in-one I bought for my 10 year old 15 months ago (Yes, that means that the guarantee is expired) will not start. No no post, no beeps, nothing. Just a brief spark of light on the screen, no words, nothing. The machine gets occasional use, and there is nothing to indicate what could have caused the problem. I have not upgraded the BIOS recently, is not as if it was a bad BIOS update, or whatever it is. I tried to hit the F1, F2, F12 keys delete during startup. No results.

  The video works. I know because I can connect my laptop to the HDMI-in port and I can see the desktop of my laptop very well. So the question is NOT the video. My son uses this machine for occasional movies and homework in his room. I want to fix the computer, if I can. I am handy with computers and built several machines from the outset in the past.

  I believe that the most likely scenario is that the motherboard has went wrong; There are several posts around the internet about motherboards 2710 AIO being unreliable. I saw an ad on the forums of Dell from a guy who said Dell Tech Support replaced its motherboard 2710 five times. I see that some of these motherboards are selling on eBay for around $200. I'm toying with the idea of getting a. I watched the service manual for the 2710 and I'm pretty confident that I could replace the Board of Directors.

  Someone had experience with permutation on their motherboard on a 2710 AIO? Or someone has any ideas on what could be the problem with my son's computer? I appreciate all the advice/help anyone could offer.

  OK, I have removed all the RAM from the motherboard (there were two sticks) and unplug the connector on the SATA hard drive. Then I turned on the machine and got two beeps very strong, but still no video on the screen indicating any form of activity of the POST. The sound signals have been first sounds I've ever heard during the procedure of boot on this machine. I put the RAM back in and re-connected the SATA cable. The way he has been, no video, no post, no beeps.   It could be almost anything that prevents your computer from starting to start to eliminate things.  If the computer under warranty?  If this is not the case, unplug everything including the power cord from your computer. Unplug the keyboard, monitor, mouse, readers flash and all other connected outside of the machine. Open the unit and unplug all the devices connected to the power supply except the motherboard.  Disconnect the hard drive cable and power supply data connection, disconnect the connection cable and power supply of the CD/DVD data, disconnect any drive card reader or floppy drive.  Therefore remains connected to the power supply should be taking 20/24 pin to the motherboard and 4 or 8 pin 12V for the cpu power cable.  Remove all cards that may be in the slots, as the video card, modem, network card (if they are not built in to edge of devices.) Just the cards that can be inserted into the slots.  Make sure all items are away from the computer and cannot cause a short circuit when you use power. Look at the motherboard and see if the capacitors were bulged or rounded top and maybe even a brown substance leaking from the top.  Check the video card as well for the same and a blocked fan who may have been not turn.  Test the power supply with a volt/ohm meter if you have one. If this is not the case, turn on the power and see if the fans are running and you get beeps.  If this isn't the case, hold the power button for about 5 seconds until the machine turns off.  Try only a chunk of memory at a time and in each of the slots.  If it starts to act normally, it is probably food.  If the sounds seem normal, unplug the power cable and install one at a time from the video card and connect the monitor to it. Plug the power cable from back in and start the machine.  If you have a video, keep disconnect power, adding another device such as the keyboard and the mouse until you arrive finally to your hard drive.  Do your last hard drive because there all your important data on it and you do not want to expose to all this test.
