  • Compaq SR1901WM system fan failure

I have a Compaq SR1901WM, running Windows XP, SP3, and I had to replace the motherboard. I replaced it with the exact same model, and it works very well. The only problem is, when I first put it, I get a warning that says: attention! The system fan failure! The PC to avoid damaging service please! I checked and the CPU fan is running, and there was no other fan in this case. Maybe I need to get a box for her cooling fan? What is considered the system fan? is it the fan 3 "on the back, I would consider the fan or the fan 3" on the motherboard? Fans seem to be working what can I do I am a novice regarding components:)

Hello Mck1960, the system fan is the fan which is connected to the pin system fan header. Is the fan in the back of the case ususally.

The processor (CPU) fan is the one on top of the CPU cooler and is connected to the Strip to pins on the motherboard CPU.

Here is the link for your motherboard specifications. Look in the presentation of the motherboard for the fan header locations.

  • System Fan failure

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion a63301a, I get a message system Fan has failed service PC tp prevent damage press F2 to continue.

I opened the box and found that the CPU fan was clogged with dust, so I cleaned the fans, while the box has been opened I rebooted and found that the system fan should start spinning with all the other fans, after a few seconds, the system fan stops, I can get the above message.

I continue starting up, but the system fan does not come on again. At this point fans CPU and power supply are running it does this whenever I do a startup message and stop the fan running system.

I replaced the fan in the system with a single, even something again it starts then stops running at startup

I don't see all the settings for the fan in the BIOS, is there someone who can help with some advice on why this fan has stopped running, how to run again

I download the software that allows me to monitor the number of towers and tempretures these are all the normak accept rpms from o to the system fan

I don't know that clever people out there you will find the answer

    Help, please

    Rick

With the correct model number, I was able to look at the motherboard, and I see a task for the fan, aka system fan.  It is followed by somewhere and I would assume that it is the BIOS.  The parameters must also be hidden, and if the change to operate the system fan is made, you will still get warning.  However, you won't be upset once you are certain that the fan is running and pressing F2 will be the start cycle.

I think that the adapter that I showed (just if it was obvious what I was talking about) would be availible from local sources that make the work PC and parts for a living.  If this isn't the case, then try Newegg or Amazon as a last resort.

  • The system fan failure... Press F2 on the old card fan replacement mother M2N68 - LA

Hello. I spent a while looking for a cure for this but no luck.

I replaced the rear fan (and the whole case) on my HP p6110uk PC and now get «a failure of the fan system...» Press F2 etc. at the start of the system." Perhaps one of the three fan pins on the motherboard does not receive the right RPM.

The fan works OK. I tried 2 new case fans and they work but give the same error on initialize toward the top. The original fan is detected OK and the error disappears when placed back attached to the same port on the motherboard fan system. There is no option of fan in the bios settings.

I have tried both by resetting the CMOS jumper on the motherboard and remove the battery to see if it will remedy the error, but again, no luck.

I was wondering about possibly updated the BIOS, but the official update of HP will not work. It's I guess because I am running official windows 7 upgrade (from Vista). Win7 x 64 does not appear for the provided.

The site of Asus also has a bios driver for this kind of advice, but I'm not clear on the version required.

    Details:

Optionally you can advise me, that error is quite annoying whenever I start.

    Booji,

Thanks for confirming my suspicions.  As you have changed the case, you may have other options. What case?

  • System fan failed error after the Swap case

Hi, I read a number of similar positions on this issue but has not managed to solve my particular problem and was hoping someone can provide additional guidance

I recently moved my HP Pavilion Slimline S5280t with a Cooler Master case, everything is OK except that I now get a 'system fan failure, press F2 to continue "message every time I start the PC.

I know for sure, it is caused by the rear 120mm fan that connects to pin 3 connector on the motherboard chassis fan (I tested it with the old 92mm fan and the error message disappeared).  So based on what I read on the forum, the simplest solution is to disable / adjust the configuration in the BIOS to monitor fan, unfortunately, this option is locked to my motherboard (IPIEL-LA3) model.  If at this point, I have 2 questions regarding what I can do next:

    1. I guess the fan sensor detects for the fan RPM so since this is a 120 mm fan, the speed of ROTATION is less than a 92 mm.  It does not reach some predefined threshold and that's why the error message I received.  So I can solve the problem by exchanging the 120mm fan which runs at a higher SPEED?

    2. I read that there is a hidden menu of BIOS with some of the HP PC, accessible by pressing F11 (or some other keys that do not appear in the original start menu), I have tried F11 and which has become a diagnostic tool, does anyone know if a hidden BIOS menu exists for my particular model? (PC model: S5280t, q8300 CPU, Mobo IPIEL-A3)

In addition, I don't think that there is an update of the BIOS for my model either... so I'm really out of options here.  Please help if anyone has any suggestions.

    Thank you!

    HW7777, welcome to the forum.

After consultation on your problem with Erico, another Member of the forum, here's what I was told:

"The three-pin connector for the fan has + (power), mass (-) and an analog tachometer signal." Given that you have tested the old fan on the system fan header and the error message disappeared, you have checked that the fan is indeed the question. You should try another fan to see if it did not have the rear case fan which is connected to the Sys_Fan?  If produce the same results, then you have reason on the down low, the origin of the problem.   If you want to keep the motherboard in the case of Coolermaster then you should consider making or buying an adapter to mount it in her 92 mm fan. Since the Coolermaster case is much larger, you should be able to mount the fan somewhere. There is a lot more air in the Coolermaster case compared to the business slimline the mobo was originally in. "You are right that there is no update available BIOS.

  • Envy 17: Keyboard Flex, the keys not working not properly, a fan failure

I bought my computer laptop last January 2014 to JB HiFi, I already noticed that the keyboard flexes, but they told me that it is normal and the keys work well anyway.

Move to the last month, I noticed that the bottom surface of my laptop keeps splitting open whenever I have fold to the top of my screen to turn it on. If it can be repaired by pressing gently to close again, it seems to have caused the laptop to ask a fan failure notice every time that I turn it on, asking me to press the Enter key to continue or wait 15 seconds so it will turn off.

I searched on youtube on how to solve this problem and I discovered that blowing fan can solve this problem quickly. I tried several times the breath of the fan before turning on the laptop but it does not always work for me. Fan failure screen always displays at startup. I could not work long hours because I noticed that my laptop has been overheating a lot, probably because of the failure of the fan. I had to turn off for a few minutes let cool and start to work again, thus breaking any momentum of work I.

Then, five days ago I realized that Fan failure screen is not displayed, but things just got worse. Left keys do not work correctly more for example. If I press 'e', it will enter "qe", "2" will enter the '13' and so on. Now this made me suspect that the space in which the keyboard flexes a lot and the fan failure overheating left hand side of the laptop were the cause of the keys with a malfunction, maybe condensation or so.

Please help me out here, I use my laptop for my studies and I can't afford to buy a new.

    Kind regards

    Hi K N R K,.

I tried your method three times, but the keys are still faulty. This is the current behavior I get:

    F5 - turn on the backlight with ' + '.
    F7 – lowers the volume with ' - '.
    F8 - increases volume with ' / '.
    2. does not show '2', but active random dialog boxes (depends on the active window)
    NumLock - types "5 [---].
    w active entry
    Shift + w - paste from Clipboard
    Enter - 'L';
    4 entries "14".
    5 entries "25".
    6 - entries '+ 6'
    -entries + '+ 6'
    x - entries 'x 25 '.
    1 entries "14".
    2 entries "25".
    3 entries '3 '.
    CTRL + v - entered "s".
    FN - inputs + 6

    Up - entries '.on '.
    -Scrolling and entries "14".
    0 - entered "0" and enter

If ever the keyboard will work properly again, you have any recommendation with the intrados cleavage whenever I have bend toward the top of the screen to turn on the laptop.

  • CPU fan failure: Dell inspects the expedient to the customer before computers the they?

After waiting 11 days which includes I believe a week in the production of my Tower, 17/11/2015 I finally received my new Inspiron Desktop Edition Gamer (Intel). I turned on the computer and guess what I saw on the screen "CPU Fan Failure".  So now, I have to return the tower to a Dell for a tech to fix the problem with the fan.

Here's my question. Fact or not Dell inspect their product before they will deliver to their customers? Well, Dell has not delivered the product if a "CPU Fan Failure" had existed before shipment.

Unfortunately things can occur in vessels too...

Before send back you, open the case and check if the cable is correctly connected to the motherboard. The cable may have jumped out of the motherboard.

Just unplug it and plug it back to the motherboard. If it's totally off the Board, you can go to the Support page for this exact model and look for the link at the top of this page for the manual. Most service manuals show a diagram of components/connectors on motherboard and CPU fan connector must be checked.

If everything's fine, which solves the problem, so you won't have to send again.

  • Compaq Presario SR1719UK, System fan fail warning

    Hi guys

Hope you can help me with what I am puzzled.

I have a compaq presario SR1719UK that I transplanted everything except a car fan and DVD in a new case.

I added a new case for the new case fan and everything is properly connected, and yet on startup, I get the attention system fan failure, he has not done this in the case of the former.

In the bios, that the temperature fits as 35 degrees with the CPU fan at about 1500 rpm, case fan display 0 RPM, even if she is running and blowing air out of the case.

    Overall, I am confused!

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    2 GB DDR memory

Windows 7 Ultimate (can be reversed for Linux but can downgrade to XP)

Hello sparticate, you may have installed a fan that is not compatible with the HP motherboard. Is it possible that you can replace the new fan with the original fan and see if the problem is resolved. These HP case and CPU fans have a speed sensor which tells the motherboard fan is indeed running. If the new fan has no such speed sensor drive, motherboard want to get the appropriate signal and display the error message.

  • Connect fans double static pressure to the R4 Aurora system fan connector.

I recently replaced the stock liquid CPU cooler in my R4 Aurora with a Corsair H80i. The Corsair pump works fine and I have seen some dramatic reductions in the time, but the Corsair double fans (which connect in the pump via a cord block in y splitter) are boring fort on more charges, a common complaint with the H80i system.

A simple solution is to replace the fans stocks with static pressure of Noctua NF-12 PWM fans who have a DB(a) of 22.4 only Corsair vs Corsair. Rating 37.68 dB (a).

Every Noctua fan comes with a cable 4 pin Y you can connect two NF-12 to a single fan 4pin connector, so I was contemplating doing this.

If I connect the Noctua fans with a cable to Y for the the fan connector from the system of the Aurora, is - it safe to do and I have gain control of Noctuas twin in the Alienware command center?

One fan Noctua NF-12 draws a max of 0.5 a. amps of Twin connected with a single splitter cable of Y I guess would then draw a maximum of 1 ampere of connection of the system fan. Then the connection of the fan system handle this current absorbed safely, in its design specifications?

    Aurora R4 - chassis Standard

    PSU: 875

    BIOS: A11

    Graphics card: GTX 760

    Windows 7 x 64

I don't know what will happen if you use the connector overhead lighting to your fans power source, but your best bet is to look at the technical label on your old stock cooler fan; What was the stock fan is rated at is probably most amps you should be inspired through the connector overhead lighting. Alienware settled on this fan of stock for a reason; If they could have installed an amp fan higher than they would have, since Dell/Alienware always seems to use a high-power fan while another oem would have used a type of whimpier to save on production costs. Alienware has already used the nominal fans higher in & for our systems. If there is such a thing as a cooler option stock of high performance, you would browse the sources online (eBay or google) to find that spec amp of this fan is, & assume your 'wiring system' could manage the spec of improved so fan if a fan of upgrade are of course. Pass, if CmnCntr does not detect your cooler pump is running (through 7 pump connector cpu pins), chances are it is not, try to control RPM fan. You will need to test this, maybe get lucky. Short of some retro - equip delicate stock cooler 7pin to the new h80 3pin (tips: http://en.community.dell.com/owners-club/alienware/f/3746/t/19454479.aspx), for now, to plug a fan into his Council overhead lighting, see if the spin of its RPM faster under a load when times cpu rise... it could talk to you about something that CmndCntr means when he feels nothing on the 7 pin... good luck

  • Alienware Aurora R4. The system fan problems

    Hi, here is my story/problem...
My computer is a desktop, Alienware Aurora R4. It is less then a year old. This problem started about 5 days ago now. I called the support technique dell twice. and they don't seem to help, I got frustrated with the phone so im hoping it will work...

So here's the question: my system fan continues to operate at 4150-5000 rpm and only goes to about 1400-2200 rpm at idle. Today, it has begun to stop randomly. I watched 3 ambient temporary sensors all remaining 24-26 degrees Celsius. The PPI and the fans of hard drive are good at all about 1456 and 1089 RPM.

Initially the RPM increased while I was gaming. but it did not take long and now whenever I try to do anything he will get very hard and RPM goes crazy. Originality, my PC would be slowed to about 1200-1400 rpm and only go up to 2200-2400 RPM, where the game. its almost as if it was under high load when it is not. and its cool so I'm sure that's not over heating.

I disassembled the pc and cleaned all the fans and dust with the correct air boards. I have confirmed that everything is properly connected. When that didn't help, I found BIOS version A05 then I updated to the A07.  I ran the Dell PC Diag and it passed, the autopsy of alienware last, Ive ran several analyses of McAfee antivirus, reinstalled the Alienware command center and down the stock of dell pc - which posed problems. I paid and installed the mechanic system and fixed these issues.

The first time I called Dell tech support guy was very friendly and I have not heard his name. He did lose his time with my settings of video card (not sure why as its only the system fan connected to the wheel and the pump, that is the question) he said that he had to be updated so it updated my video card, and that's all. told me he would send me the next day to check if it worked or not. There has never been back in contact with me, and I have no e-mail address. But all that adds to the question... because since he did this update my gaming experience is terrible. I only play World of Warcraft currently. Normally, my FPS are 75 to 100 FPS and now they jump around a bit, but mostly to sit at 2-17 FPS and sometimes go to 50 FPS, if I'm not moving. So im guessing the settings it's fair question... my card is a 2 GB AMD Radeon 7870

Then, I recalled once again a day later. and the next guy was not as friendly. don't give me his name either. he wouldn't do anything, he just told me that the notes from the last call said that it was not a problem, and that it was quite normal heating. I'm sorry but my house is way cooler in the summer then it's winter and temperatures are always flat and stable. its blowing cool air and a large amount of air. He didn't listen at all.

then the next day it remains to 4150 rpm for 90% of the day instead of 60% of the day. even if im not using it. And she randomly stopped several times. from what I can find on these forums and online that is as a module fail safe mode... so obviously it is not normal!

As today is the first day it started to close I wanted to re-run the diag tests, but whenever I try, it runs for a few minutes, then the pc stops. The computer is running too slow, but this may be a different problem. I managed to get the dell diag and system mechanic to run tests, and they spent too. IM at a total loss...

The air coming from the fan system is very strong and cool so I don't think there are more heating goes on. As far as I can tell the pump works properly and all the fans are running.

This pc is less then a year old, so it is still warranty on it, as well as I, have purchased another year of warranty shortly before it started actually... And I don't want to try something else without help, because I don't want anything damage or damage my warranty coverage

I'd appreciate very much any help im at a loss to know what to do, and feel the support tech will start ignoring me if I recall more. If you can help out you can reach me at my email which is [email protected]. Or respond to this conversation.

Thank you and hope to hear from you,

    Katelin

  • After a fan failure, Windows is unable to turn off the fan?

My Dell laptop is more than a year and out of warranty, so I was pretty shocked when my brother took an air can to the exhaust port and overspun fan and caused his failure. I bought a fan of alternative qualified from Dell and installed with Arctic Silver costs. However, even with the new fan, he would never turn up. I was looking at the temperatures to pull it up and and eventually shut down the system without even a glance of the fan. I even pulled the fan back out and double checked to make sure that the fan would turn with the applied force (I am an EE, food is very fine-adjustable). He does.

I can control the fan with a 3rd party, i8kfan program. Problem is, the driver is not signed digitally, so it occasionally fails or it shuts down randomly.

So, how does this apply to Windows? Well, as Dell technical support doesn't help if you are no longer under warranty, they don't tell me this - here are the fan control strictly controlled windows, strictly the BIOS or a combination of both? I was wondering if the problem threw a flag in Windows or the BIOS can't disable or something. I see nothing on the fans in my BIOS (another failure on part Dells - shitty BIOS), so I hope there is something small, buried in the windows that might help.

I have no problem using the 3rd party controls. In most cases, this works very well. But there are moments when, particularly under heavy load, the program gets a lower priority, and fan just stops. In addition, the signed drivers beyond boring thing. As a little advanced Windows user, I'd love it if it could be disabled permanently instead of having to switch off whenever I start.

My college got hooked me with a copy of 7, but I was saving it for my office that I'm building. I think that if this is a Windows problem, I'll just reformat this thing at 7 until I get my desktop built, and if all goes well, that will fix problems with fan. Also, I think I still have the Vista disc to this thing also, that's an option. If reinstalling Windows can solve this problem, I will def do this. I don't want to waste time to reformat if it does not solve the problem.

    Thanks for the comments!

    Hi Matt k,

Fear you must contact Dell technical support as seems to be a hardware problem.
