(Redirected) XPS8700 Windows Update of Windows 10 pro 8.1

I have a 256 mSATA with windows 8.1 update for pro. I also have a 1 TB SSD in a Bay.

If I take the free windows upgrade 10, can I install windows 10 on the SSD & so dual boot between it on the SSD & existing windows 8.1 pro on the mSATA?

Known issues with the help of Windows 10 on a XPS8700?

Thank you

  • My computer with Windows 7 Home updated for Firefox v34.0.5 but my two computers that are running Windows 7 Pro have not yet updated beyond Firefox v34.0. Something wrong?

See info above. I re - run the update process at least 10 times on the two machines running Windows 7 Pro (most recently this morning), and whenever the two machines running Windows 7 Pro (one is 64-bit, one is 32-bit) say that Firefox v34.0 is "up-to-date". I checked Mozilla.org, which States that Firefox v34.0.5 was released in mid-December, but he said nothing about whether this update was only for some OSs. I also ran several scans antivirus from different vendors on two machines running Windows 7 Pro and all scans show no problems.

Please advise is there are different versions of Firefox for Windows 7 family or Professional Edition, or if I'm having a problem. If I'm having a problem, please tell us how I can correct.

We changed how updates were deployed to a test, that's why you were probably the 34.0.5 on a computer and 34.0.0 on the other. The only difference between them is that 34.0.5 defines yahoo as the default search. You don't need to worry because of the different versions (who both were released at the same time BTW)

  • Hi all. I am running Windows XP Pro OS w/Firefox Add-on 26 does not correctly work anylonger of slow loading and crashes and everything is updated Server SP3 +.

I am running the last 26 Firefox on my windows xp pro and my system is all updated Net framework service Pack 1-3 + are good. Legit check, Microsoft etc complaints system. I also have the following extensions added: DNTme + / add-on / Duckduckgo + / and secure Preview-Site Advisor. I constantly receive messages from Firefox plugin like this: Script: chrome://ipv6ident/content/ipv6ident.js:1022 "not answered or busy. I use privet navigation a lot and the biggest problem sites are 'AOL' and my 'add-on' loved and needed. Does anyone else have this problem? And I would be very happy to Support entry on that too please. Thank you once again and please know I love my Firefox and really don't want to use my IE8. All fixed! So simple, but I don't think it was a factor. * Just go to tools-options and Firefox reset settings by default and Boom on it will come! I hope this helps someone bye, Michael

  • 8.1 Windows Pro update the problem (from Windows 8 Pro) on Envy 23 TouchSmart all-in-One...

    Hello

I have a HP Envy 23 Touchsmart all-in-one that I bought a year ago (12/2012). It comes preinstalled with Windows 8.

    System information:

    (a) Intel (r) Core i7 - 3770 S CPU @ 3.10 GHz

    (b) 8192 MB of RAM

A few weeks after that I had bought the system, I've upgraded to Windows 8 Pro with Media Center that I bought through Microsoft upgrade program.

Last week (19/10/2013), I saw the option upgrade to Windows 8. 1 in the store and decided to upgrade.

After a few minutes, I got a prompt asking me to restart the computer, and I did.

However, I noticed that the screen has turned white, but it restarts not really - I have seen that the hard drive light was still flashing and I waited for about 15 minutes. I know it does not restart because if that were the case I would have seen the HP logo on the screen of the BIOS. A little later, the system entered into mode 'sleep' (at least the light blinked slowly as if it was the sleep). As it was late at night, I decided to leave the system alone and decided to check on it the next morning. The next morning, he was still in mode 'sleep' (as I feared) - when I tried to wake up from her sleep by moving the mouse/hit the return key, he did the exact sounds as if he were to wake up from its sleep (as it always does), but the screen is still blank. The light power button lit up constantly indicating he's awake now.

At this point, I decided to turn off the system by holding the button for a few seconds. To restart, I saw the HP logo on the BIOS boot screen and the screen went white and nothing came.

So I decided do a system recovery using my Windows 8 recovery CD and turn off the system with the CD in its niche. This time, the system came and began immediately to restore my OS to a previous version.

After connecting to the system recovered, I received the following message:

"Could not update for Windows 8.1.

Sorry, we could not complete the update Windows 8.1. We have restored the previous version of Windows on this computer.

    0xC1900101 - 0 x 40019.

I tried to reinstall Windows 8.1 a couple of times after that. Once to disable all non-Microsoft services and disabling all startup programs. Always the same result.

I have no antivirus software on my other system protection of Microsoft default system software.

    Any help, greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

I have disabled active secure boot existing starter and the update worked.  Now we get the error of watermark "secure boot not configured correctly.  But I have re-enabled secure boot and the error disappeared.

  • Windows XP Pro system trashes updated November 11, 2009

Windows XP Pro SP3. Card video BFG GeForce 8600 GT (Nvidia chipset)

Nov 11/09 updates downloaded and installed; the re-boot, loaded into the Windows desktop, but showed many errors that some DLL files could not load (presumably all startup programs that load of the system, such as Maximizer and McAfee AV status bar). On a second restart, same thing. Tried system restore to a previous control point (updates have been uploaded today, Nov 12). The re-booting, BSOD - messages past too quickly to read and auto rebooted system.

Now can not even start in safe mode command line.

  • Windows xp pro sp3 can not get updates - don't stop to check updates and nothing happens.

For the past 2 weeks I can't get windows on windows xp pro sp3 updates. The green bar that runs while the verification of updates just keeps running and running and does'nt stop until I have stop. No error codes at all.
Run the fix it tool and indicates "registration for the service is missing or corrupted" and it offers a solution for the problem of the does'nt.
What is the reference for this?

I had the same problem and you will spend one day trying many suggestions, including various Microsoft Fix - its, which none worked, and which some worse messing with the BITs service (that I then had to restore, losing even more time).

In the end, I found that the problem was related to the update of Cumulative security for Internet Explorer 8. There is a kind of incompatibility with previous versions of this update that causes IE stuck when he tries to check the updates.

The solution for me was to download and install the * last * IE Cumulative Security Update * manually * before you try to run Windows Update to get the other patches. Here's how:

    (1) using the Internet Explorer, I visited the current MS security bulletin page

    http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/security/bulletin

    (2) from there, I went to the latest summary (November 2013) and found the update of IE at the top of the list: "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (2888505).

    (3) I couldn't see direct links for just this update, so I copied the number of the Knowledge Base - 2888505 - and google for "Download KB2888505" (Bing didn't work by the way). This gave me the direct download link:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=41074

    (4) I have downloaded and run the update installer and then restarted (as required by the software update).

Microsoft/Windows Update restart worked. I repeated the same process on a second computer with the same problem and it worked also.

  • The start-up takes 35 minutes after updates on April 9, 2013 (windows XP pro 32-bit)

After you have installed windows XP pro updates on April 9, 2013 (or there abouts) my computer takes about 35 minutes to start (a 5 minutes before). During this time the CPU doesn't work between 0% - 1%. After about 35 minutes the CPU begins to work as usual. When to use system restore to go back to April 8, 2013 (IE before updates) the boot time goes back to normal. Starting time is normal when I boot in safe mode. I checked for viruses, etc. using malwarebytes and security: basic concepts and my system is clean. I also did chkdsk/r.

    How can I fix?

    Hello

you have a report from trusteer installed on your computer?

If so I suggest you try to uninstall it, reboot and see if it solves the problem.

You see I've had exactly the same problems and symptoms on my windows xp machine after windows April updated as you describe.  It took me 6 days to find out, but uninstalling report seemed to solve the problem. (Report uninstallation was after installing the updates of windows, by the way).

In fact to confirm it was the value I then installed the new version of the report and got exactly the same symptoms of slow start again.  Uninstalling report once more, turn the computer back to normal.

so if you have reports uninstall it and see what happens, this is my opinion and I hope it helps.

I contacted trusteer on this matter today, but they have not yet answer.

  • How to copy windows XP pro update fills

I want to save a copy of windows, all files updates which is for my PC, for after stop of the windows xp pro in favor Web site.

How can I do this because I have hardware that is not supported in any newer OS.

    Hello

For benefits during the different phases, you can open the link below and choose "Support Life Cycle policy" on the left side.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/lifecycle

    For reference

    http://support.Microsoft.com/lifecycle/?ln=en-GB&C2=1173

Integrate the end of Support Date Extended Support end date Service Pack Support end date
    31/12/2001 14/04/2009 04/08/2014

If you reinstall Windows until the end of cycle, you will get the benefit as shown in the link. The best way is to download and save Service packs for XP that will cover more updates, or you can make a note of the update currently installed in the computer and manually download as backup.

Should I turn off my Anti virus software is what could be stopping my updates? some sites would sugest that I use Kaspersky 2012, if that's the case, then why do all my other programs that are installed to date OK?

    Hello

Check your level of service current pack...

    • Hold down the Windows (between Ctrl and Alt) key and press Pause break
    • Examine what is listed in the system: section

If there is no service pack designated first level you must download SP2 from...

    http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=28

.. .and then run the downloaded program to install SP2.

Once you have done this, or if you were already in service pack 1, 1a or 2, then install SP3 by downloading and running from...

    http://www.Microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&ID=24

For both of the above, you can ignore the text that says it's for network installations and also ignore the text advising windows/microsoft update if a single update of a PC.

So try and get up-to-date with the Windows updates.
