reformatting computer

I have a computer with windows 7 (which has been upgraded to vista) and I need to do a full reformat before giving the computer to the child. What files can I save to a disk before wiping the disc? I am upgrading to windows 7 cd.

A clean install, there are a few new hoops to go through our days,

But as the case may be, this is a laptop, you must go to the site of the factory and download the touchpad and the vga / drivers wifi as well as most of the other just in case where you need

Otherwise Yes just to back up personal files, you also want to

With regard to the hoops :)

It is expected by M$, we must now jump through hoops to clean install.

If looking for updates to hang on a current installation,

Switch your windows update setting to never check the updates temporarily

Restart the machine

Then you download this from your download folder run from there.

https://TechNet.Microsoft.com/library/security/MS16-039?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

Download the x 86 for 32-bit or x 64 for 64-bit

Install it and restart when prompted too after he did a search of stand-alone for updates that should not

take too long, it took all of 5 seconds, '' If '' windows update settings are turned on forever check

updates before running from the downloads folder.

Once it installs and restarts

You can reset your updates affecting everything you had before default =...

Then check the updates manually.

I think that the solution came from Softpedia and Joel_CS posted on this thread,

    Hey j.Ansari

to reinstall vista, you will need to either use recovery discs that came with your computer or get them from the manufacturer of the computer to reinstall vista

Alternatively, you can ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to your computer at the factory standards

you would normally begin the recovery process started by pressimg F10 or F11 or Alt + F10, etc. 0

Ask them of the exact key sequence

  • Video card driver displays an error message after reformatting computer with Vista

I reformatted my computer using windows vista and I kept getting an answer that the used copy was an illegal copy of windows. In the meantime my computer was working fine. I called Microsoft and they verified that it was not an illegal copy and gave me an additional code to activate windows. After activation, my image of the screen became smaller with a border of 1 inch black around the screen (I have a widescreen monitor). I tried to correct this problem and have discovered that my video card driver has an error message saying that windows has stopped this device because it has reported a problem. I tried to reinstall the latest version of the driver, update to windows vista and tried all the suggestions that have been proposed on the microsoft Web site, and it still doesn't work. I reinstalled everything again with the same problem. Can you please help me solve this problem. Thank you.

  • I reformatted computer that had vista on it, but did not come with cd how vista back on it?

OK so I got my computer and I've had for about 2 years with no problems then I have a virus and I need to reformat it but I forgot that the computer came with a vista installation CD or recovery CD, so I don't know how to get it back, but I don't have the thing to sticker the serial number on the back of my computer vista It was still Vista Home Basic 64 - Bit thank you.

Vista Media recovery obtaining and/or using the Vista recovery on your computer Partition to factory settings .

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • Files .dbx open after having reformatted computer

Recently, I reformatted my computer and saved my Inbox Outlook Express, sent and addresses.  The only way I could find to save was in .dbx files, I can't seem to find a way to open!    Looking at the line, I find programs... buy... which opens up to them, but certainly there must be a way to 'better' (cheaper, more accessible)?  I keep thinking that if this is the common way to save these, I must be missing the common way to open.  Please tell me how to do this.   Thank you very much

You have access to the old data to the hard drive?  If this isn't the case, then what you have recorded, the DBX files, are what is available.  In this case, you will need to OE-Mail on each DBX file repair utility.  Each program will allow you to extract emails from DBX file in files with the .eml extension.  Drag these eml files in the preview pane of OE, you can access the email again.  Them stored in the folder you want. www.oemailrecovery.com/Outlook-Express-Recovery.html

  • I can no longer install Palm Desktop on a reformatted computer.

Since I reformatted my computer and he patched all the way to the top, I can install is no longer the Palm Desktop software.  I put the disc in and it hangs to the installation dialog box and slows down my whole computer.  So I go up the Task Manager and my CPU is boosted to 100% and iDriver.exe is the process hogging the CPU eating hundreds of megs of memory.  Not only that, but there are several instances of iDriver.exe just behind with one instance of iDriverT.exe.  Also, there are several instances of msiexec.exe as well.  Once I have kill the first instance of iDriver.exe stops installation of Palm Desktop.  I even downloaded the latest version of verizon on this site and I'm having the same problem.

    All solutions?

The fixed.  My user profile has been slightly altered possibly by data that I restored my profile after reformatting.  The restored data likely contained some partial data from the previous Palm installation causing incompatibilities.

I found the source of the problem when I installed the program as another account with privileges administrator and installation that has happened without a hitch.  So I moved my docs on another drive and blew my profile in hell and recorded again.  When my profile has been recreated, I ran the Palm software installation and installed normally.

  • Reformatting computer - website of losing?

    Hello

I want to reformat my computer, but I just wanted to clear a few things on my website before you do!

I built my website using Dreamweaver and at the present time, all web pages are stored on my hard drive and of course, when I opened Dreamweaver to update my site, it's all related to all Web pages and update of new changes I made to my Web host server is nice and easy.

Now, when I reformat my computer I was planning on moving to the folder that contains all of my info/pages Web etc. temporaily on a hard drive, reformat, re - install Dreamweaver, then bring this folder on my computer.

But if I do that, it will create wheb huge mess, it comes to updating my site regarding broken links etc. when using in Dreamweaver?

I'm working on a Mac by the way and running Dreamweaver CS4.

Thanks a lot for any help in advance!

Save the folder to your site on an external drive. Export your DW site definition settings and save to external hard drive.

    New HD format.  Install DW.

Copy the folder of the external site to the same location on your hard drive reformatted.

    Import site definition settings.

You should be OK.   You have your remote site as backup, too.

  • Cannot sweep M1536dnf after reformatting computer

After the formatting of two computers in our office, they can scan is more from our M1536dnf, which is connected by Ethernet to our local network. The error message says "Scanner communication cannot be established. If make sure that your product is powered, check the connection and make sure that your network is working properly. If these conditions are correct, restart the product and try to scan the image. »

They could sweep before formatting and other computers in the office can still analyze the documents. They have the operating system has not been changed (they were running Windows 7 before and are equipped with Windows 7 now, the same as all computers in our office). I tried to update the firmware on the I tried version 4.3 HP print and Scan doctor and it says there is an error analysis of Windows (WIA). I tried what they recommend, which is completely uninstall the software, reboot, and reinstall with the latest version of software complete features. I tried turning all involved market (printers, computers, network, equipment). I checked that the Acquisition of Image Windows (WIA) service is set to automatic. I tried to disable the built-in Windows Firewall and we do not use any antivirus software, or override the firewall on the local Ethernet. I tried manually specifying an IP address, which is not in conflict with all other IP addresses on the network. In all of this, I can always print these two computers and other office machines can print & scan very well. We have another scanner in addition to the office and these two computers can still scan using this one, but it doesn't have as many features. The HP ToolboxFX still works of these two computers.

I'm full of ideas on how to solve this problem. It's particularly embarrassing because it worked before and continues to work on other desktops. Clues as to what I should try next?

Any suggestions you mentioned did not. No change in behavior. However, I wasn't ready to admit defeat. After you check with the inspectors of package & various parts of the debug windows, I FINALLY found the solution! Therefore, I thought I'd share for someone else in the future who has a similar problem.

These two computers have been executed under limited user accounts, and at the end of the day, it's a bug in the way the HP drivers in the WIA service user account permissions. It was totally an easy workaround solution, although - raise the WIA service for a user admin that can interact with other restricted users. Then, it has permissions to do what he wants!

    Directions for use:

    (1) on the computer target under the normal user account, press Start, in the search box type services.msc. Right click on the program that appears and select "Run as Administrator". Enter your user password or click on next to go to the UAC popup, if necessary.
    (2) locate the service called "Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)" and double-click it.
    3) click the connection tab, and then change this service to log on under a Local System account. Click here to allow the service to interact with desktop. And then click OK.
    (4) reboot (or if you really don't want to restart & know what you're doing, you can just stop & restart the WIA service twice)
    (5) enjoy!

    Everything works now.
