    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft community

From your problem description, I understand that you found the yellow exclamation point in Device Manager. Please let me know if you do not experience this problem.

I suggest you try the following steps.

Your CD or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

Important: this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article:back up the registry in Windows 7

  • Microsoft Register Server Error

I tried to install Pro Tools SE without success. After each installation, I get an error message telling me that the Microsoft Register Server has stopped working. People on the forums of m-audio have not been able to help me so I thought I would give it a shot here. I tried to play with the DEP, I bought a registry cleaner and I reinstalled the countless times. Please tell me that someone out there knows how to combat this phenomenon. I also have extremely limited computer knowledge, which makes it all the more difficult.

    Hi ifallgoeswrong,

    1. what version of Windows 7 is installed on the computer? It is 32-bit or 64-bit?

If you are using the 64 bit version of Windows 7 then the location for the regsvr32.exe in the previous would be reduced from C:\Windows\SysWoW64toC:\Windows\System32 .

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you perform a clean boot and check.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

  • When playing a DVD error: "unable to display analog protection, video driver update."

    Original title:

How to upgrade video driver.  get the message when I load the new dvd saying that analog protection cannot be displayed, updated video drver.

I have only this message each time to time on dvd again.  Most of them play without problem.  You want to solve the problem because I don't know if there is a codec problem or I need a video upgrade.

    Hello

Thanks for visiting and Microsoft Community to answer your concerns about giving!

When you try to play DVDs, you get the error "saying that analog protection cannot be displayed, update the video driver".

    Quick questions:

    1. What program you're using to play the DVD? (Windows media Player, Windows Media Center, etc.)
    2. What is the full error message?

The error message "cannot play the DVD because it is not possible to activate the analog copy on the output screen protection', you may encounter this error message for the following reasons:

    * Your DVD decoding software must be configured. If you have another DVD player program installed on your computer, read the DVD using this program and then try to play the DVD in Windows Media Player.

    * There is a problem with your video card configuration. Restart your computer, and then try again. If the error is not resolved, you may need to install a driver available for your video card.

To determine if there is a newer driver for your video card, perform one of the following:

o open Windows Update by clicking Start and then all programs.

Check for any updated driver for your video card. If found, try updating the video drivers.

o visit your computer or video card manufacturer's Web site.

See the Microsoft article below for more information on updating drivers: update drivers: recommended links

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/update-drivers-recommended-links

    For your information:

A codec is a software to compress or decompress a digital media file, such as a song or a video. Windows Media Player and other programs use codecs to play and create digital media files.

A codec can consist of two components: an encoder and a decoder. The encoder performs the compression function (coding) and the decoder performs the decompression function (decoding). Some codecs include both components and some codecs only one of them.

For example, when you rip a song from an audio CD on your computer, the player uses the default Windows Media Audio codec to compress the song into a compact WMA file. When you play that WMA file (or any WMA file that may be broadcast from a Web site), the player uses the codec Windows Media Audio to decompress the file for music can be played through your speakers.

For more source on Codec, please see the following link:
